Yes our most popular mini session special is back just in time to get your easter photos and cards done. As mentioned above this is one day only and only 9 slots at this time so book early. To book please email info@cosmicfrogsphotography.com, payment must be ahead before you are put on the calendar. You can do this by sending credit card info or using paypal button below. Some things to remember for these mini sessions.

• Sessions are 20mins and because of the number of sessions this day the time will be strictly enforced.
• Please arrive 5-10 mins before your session time to ensure we start right on time.
• Price is for one child 4 months or older, for additional children during same session please add $10
• Ordering will be done online and must be ordered within 15 days of the session. Galleries re-installed will be at normal pricing.
• You have the choice of 1 or 2 backgrounds/sets. You can change outfits if you wish but we are limited to the 20 mins.

Valentine mini sessions will be held each hour on the hour 10-4pm on Jan 22nd. Session fee is $60 and includes your first 8×10. All additional print purchases get our special one for you, one for your valentine deal (yes thats 2 for one on all paper prints). As you can see space is limited so you’ll want to book quickly!

Sessions will be $200 and includes (2) 8×10 and (3) 5×7 prints, payable before your session time.

Back up those precious memories

Today most of our photo memories are on our computers. Seems that gone are the days of sitting on the couch and flipping through the old family photo albums. We take for granted that those digital photos will be there for ever. Unlike prints many more things can happen and you are more likely to lose the digitals over the prints. So be sure you have a plan to keep you images backed up.

Hard Drives for Back Up

Hard drives have improved so much over time and this is where we keep most of our photos at, but they WILL fail. Hard drive recovery can costs thousands and most don’t have it in their budget to do this. Hard drives have also become very cheap over time so they do make a good back up source as well.

You can pick up a good portable hard drive (those little ones that use laptop drives) for less than a $100 for a TB. Plug these into your computer with a usb cable and copy all your photos you wish to save to one, or even two! Can never have to many back ups.

DVDs for Back Up

DVDs and CDs were the back up media of choice for a long time but have fallen away with the price and size of storage you get with hard drives. They are still in use though and its easy to burn a dvd of your trip to the zoo and forget about it. The thing about DVDs is they will fail as well. You think that once you burn it and put it away you can go to it years later and it will be fine, but DVDs have a shelf life. Most should last you 5 to 7 years before you start to see problems. The way you label the disk can effect this time as well. Ink pens (even sharpies) and sticky labels will eat away at the DVD  and degrade it. When you go get that disk after 5 years you may not get all your images any more if any.

Best solution with DVDs is to use them with other back up plans as a secondary back up. Other way is to check them once in awhile, re-burn them from a hard drive every now and then as well. Also don’t go cheap with you memories, get the best DVD you can.

Online Back Ups

Online back up services have come a long way and may be a great way to back up your photos. They work in the background to back up folders you choose to an online server. There they are backed up again with their back up procedures so you are almost guaranteed life time back up of your photos. The down side is of course you are paying for the storage space and photos can take up quite a bit of room compared to your word documents.

Digital Packages

For those of you that get digital packages from me or other photographers it is a good idea to back up that as well. I give my clients a disk and the first thing you should do is copy those files to your hard drive. The second is to make another back up copy, either to another hard drive or another disk. Don’t just leave them on the disk given and expect them to be there years later.

On that note if you get the digital package or any photos you take, find the best and your favorites and print them. What better way to enjoy your photos than in print and it also gives you another back up, the actual physical print.
