Retail Space at San Elijo Hills’ MarketWalk in San Marcos, Calif., is 80 Percent Leased

San Marcos, Calif. – Within a month of completion, the San Elijo Hills MarketWalk mixed-use center, which features 11,000 square feet of retail space and 12 townhomes, has leased 80 percent of the retail space. MarketWalk is located in the community’s Towncenter on San Elijo Road at Elfin Forest Road. Additionally, sales have commenced for the collection of 12 townhomes situated above the retail spaces and five homes have already been reserved.

San Marcos, Calif. (PRWEB) November 9, 2009 — Within a month of completion, the San Elijo Hills MarketWalk mixed-use center, which features 11,000 square feet of retail space and 12 townhomes, has leased 80 percent of the retail space. MarketWalk is located in the community’s Towncenter on San Elijo Road at Elfin Forest Road.

Eighty percent of the retail space at the new MarketWalk mixed-use center in the San Elijo Hills Towncenter has been leased, just one month after the center opened. The center, located at the intersection of San Elijo Road and Elfin Forest Road, features 11,000 square feet of retail space and 12 townhomes. It was developed by San Elijo Hills Town Center LLC, a sister company to San Elijo Hills Development Company, which developed San Elijo Hills.

Tenants now open for business in the Towncenter include Windmill Cleaners, Postal Annex, Peppertree Hills, a healthy dining and take-out eatery, Dexter’s Deli, a gourmet pet food shop, and Yogurt Utopia. Hometown Realty and the San Elijo Hills Visitor Center will be opening soon. Two retail spaces, totaling approximately 2,200 square feet, remain to be leased.

Sales have commenced for the collection of 12 townhomes situated above the retail spaces and five homes have already been reserved. MarketWalk offers impressively upgraded two- and three-story homes ranging from approximately 1,200 to 2,746 square feet with two to four bedrooms and 2.5 to 3.5 baths. The townhomes are priced from the high $300,000s to the $700,000s. The three-story units have street-level access and meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

San Elijo Hills Mountain Lion Sighting

O’Connell Landscape the contracted landscaping company for the San Elijo Hills Association has recently sighted a Mountain Lion near the Montage community of San Elijo Hills. This is a reminder that we share our surroundings with wildlife species.

The following safety tips are provided by the California Department of Fish and Game. They are based on studies of mountain behavior and analysis of attacks by mountain lions.

Don’t hike alone. Go in groups, with adults supervising children an keep children close to you. Observations of captured mountain lions reveal that the animals seem especially drawn to children. Keep children within your sight at all times.

Don’t approach a lion. Most mountain lions will try to avoid a confrontation. Give them a way to escape.

Don’t run from a lion. Running stimulates a mountain lion’s instinct to chase. Instead, stand and face the animal. Make eye contact. If you have small children with you, pick them up if possible so that they don’t panic and run. Although it may be awkward, pick them up without bending over or turning away from the lion.

Don’t crouch or bend over. A squatting or bending person looks a lot like a four-legged prey animal.

Do all you can to appear larger. Raise your arms. Open your jacket if you are wearing one. Throw stones, branches or whatever you can reach without crouching or turning your back. Wave your arms slowly and speak firmly in a loud voice.

Fight back if attacked. Some hikers have fought back successfully with sticks, caps, jackets, garden tools and their bare hands. Since a mountain lion usually tries to bite the head or neck, try to remain standing and face the attacking animal. Hope Through Housing Foundation (Hope) will present two awards at its 11^th anniversary gala at the Ontario Convention Center on Thursday, November 5 at 7:30 pm.

Hope will honor the City of San Marcos with its “Commitment to Community” award for outstanding leadership and dedication to community revitalization, growth and vitality. The City of San Marcos has demonstrated extraordinary effort and achieved exceptional results with service-enhanced affordable housing that has literally transformed the City’s poorest neighborhoods into thriving hubs where people of all income levels flourish.

Congressman Joe Baca (D-43^rd District in California) will also be honored with the “Legislator of the Year” award for his commitment to community revitalization through support of violence prevention, youth programs, senior wellness and affordable housing. His leadership helped improve the lives of families, children and seniors living in the 43^rd District in California.

“These two entities are exemplary in their achievements and contributions to creating balanced communities where families, children and seniors can thrive,” said Hope Executive Director George Searcy. “Hope is honored to be affiliated with the Congressman and the City of San Marcos and the amazing results they are garnering in their communities.”

Dear San Elijo Hills Residents and Businesses:

My name is Eric Flodine, and I am honored to serve on the City of San Marcos’ General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC). In this volunteer position over the next 2 years, I will strive to keep the residents of San Elijo Hills informed as to the current activities taking place with the very important update of the City’s General Plan. A City’s General Plan (GP) acts as a “blueprint”, “roadmap” or “guide book” for the next 15 – 20 years. A GP covers topics from types and locations of residential, commercial and office development; transportation; education; open space/recreation; safety; and the environment. Those of you who wish to stay informed on a regular basis may sign up on the following City-sponsored website: www.ourcityourfuture..org

For the GP Update Process, the City has identified 8 distinct “neighborhoods” within the entire City boundary. San Elijo Hills and Old Creek Ranch are within 1 of these GP neighborhoods. I would like to offer up a challenge to the SEH community. It would be great if we could show the City officials how dedicated we in the SEH and OCR areas are by having the highest percentage of residents, or local businesses, log in to the City’s website. Please consider taking less than 5 minutes today and visiting the website and signing up to the “Join the Discussion” section. I just completed this myself; very easy.
