Construction is ahead of schedule for opening in September!

Following the several orientation sessions held so far, enrollment is growing steadily and classes are filling at Pacific Preschool & Kindergarten, a private Early Education Program opening in San Elijo Hills in September 2012.  Established in 1990, San Elijo Hills will be the school’s third campus, joining two other locations in South Orange County.

The San Elijo Hills Community Association is hosting a free showing of Disney’s Cars 2 as part of the summer movie series!

The movie will be shown on Friday, June 15th at the lower softball field of San Elijo Park. Pre-show activities (including bounce houses, a sticky wall and more!) will begin at 6:00PM and the movie will start at sunset (around 8:00PM). Remember to bring your low-back beach chairs and blankets for lawn seating! San Elijo Hills Neighborhood Nosh Party

Take the family up to Wild Canyon Drive and enjoy a tour of the new models at Bella Vista by Ryland Homes.  All the model neighborhoods will be participating in the Neighborhood Nosh Party with kids activities including face painting, balloon artist, silhouette artists, potting and planting activities and ceramics painting.  Plus there will be desserts, cooking demonstrations, and summer themed libations throughout!

San Elijo Hills Fence Maintenance Update

The San Elijo Hills Community Association is in the process of painting the Common Area tubular steel or wrought iron fences in the San Elijo community, which is the Association’s responsibility under Section 9.1.5 of the CC&R’s.

Depending upon environmental conditions, this type of fencing requires maintenance approximately every five years in order to reduce the need of replacement.   The Board of Directors recognizes that maintenance of the fences can be intrusive to owners and expensive for the Association.  The goal is to reduce both the frequency of painting and the long-term expense to the Association while ensuring it meets its maintenance obligations.

In preparation for this project, the Board of Directors selected a two-part epoxy product and negotiated a seven-year warranty.  The Board of Directors is hopeful that these efforts will help extend the life of the fence so that it will only need to be maintained every nine to ten years. If the Board is successful in its efforts, maintenance costs should be greatly reduced, and the homeowners will only be inconvenienced every ten years versus every five years.

If all goes as planned, the perimeter fences should be completed by early summer.  Once the fences are done, the Association will focus on walls, vehicle gates, monuments and other community features that require painting this year.

The Board of Directors would like to thank the homeowners impacted by this project for their patience and cooperation.  If you have a fence that is not maintained by the Association and you would like to paint it to match the freshly painted perimeter fencing, we can provide you with specifications for an acrylic paint application.  Please contact Liz McCardle atlmccardle@waltersmanagement.com for more information.

On-line registration is now open for the Fall 2012 season; but will close on June 16. Credit cards and eChecks are accepted as well as mail-in payments.

Registration fees will be:

·             $95 per player for U6 and above

·             $50 per player for U5 Jamboree players

Registration includes a 10-game season (weather and division size permitting), uniforms, pictures and participation trophies. U5 Jamboree (see below) players will have 8-10 Jamboree days. All players between ages 4 and 16 by July 31 are welcome to sign up.

The four ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 18 at 10:30 am and 4:30 pm, and Saturday, May 19 at 9 am and 3 pm with each ceremony expected to last two hours.

Traffic congestion and backups can be anticipated in the area and surrounding streets, especially along South Twin Oaks Valley Road, the 78 Freeway, Barham Drive and Craven Road. University Police and the Sheriff’s Department will be directing and controlling traffic flow. Motorists should expect traffic delays and if possible avoid driving near the campus that weekend.
