Hello World!!!!
I have been away for so long and have so much to say and catch up on since my last post.. A lot of things have changed since then, The hubby and I grew older as well as the grandchildren...Time seems to be going faster these days! However exciting things have happened since then and are happening still. Where oh where does one begin.............Ok!! Here goes....This past year has been a hectic one...We retired and sold our home of 40+ years and moved to our vacation home in
the quaint little town of Arkdale, Wisconsin.. It was quite the task to move our "STUFF" of 40+ years and move ourselves away to a place well over 100+ miles. But.....then we had to have a huge sale during memorial weekend because we didn't have enough storage for the sum of 2 houses. So we did some downsizing and did very well in the sales to boot! I have to say I had some sad times right before this move as about a year ago I lost my sweet little Taylor Elizabeth and then a few weeks ago our sweet Heidi Lynn passed. I miss them every day however we still have our baby Jax who my husband kindly reminds me that he is not a baby anymore.........Um...I ignore that.

Where was I? Oh yea the start of our new retired journey! Well Greg(My husband) and I took a week long vacation and drove out to Maine ( a lifelong dream) It was a lot of driving in a lot of traffic...We saw many things on our trip but we were glad to get back to our latest home and really get settled in..
We had lots of company during the summer and fall and then deer hunting season come along..(That's always a fun time..) and then Christmas was upon us which catches me up to the here and now!!!! I am joyous to say that we are renovating our home here in Arkdale...The house didn't have much of a living room or enough storage for us soooo..we are making our attached garage into a new living room and a huge walk -in closet...We also are having a central air/heating system put in as the house was electric with no ac for the hot humid summers. Also we are having new siding put on the house so yes soooo much is going on in my life....Crazy, huh? Yea I know!!! So my friends...I will say Adieu for now...I will try to post some new pics, recipes, quotes and bible verses very very soon...Love and miss you all!!!

Another Day

2011-02-17T08:57:00.000-08:00

Good morning my dear friends..
It is a beautiful morning outside today...It looks like it could rain but it is nice to get outside and get some fresh air in our lungs.I am still monitoring my weight managing program very carefully.I weighed myself this morning and I stayed the same weight as yesterday. That is ok!!!! It is so much better than a gain and I realize that I won't have a loss everyday.I know,I know, some people think you shouldn't weigh every day but I for one am a person that needs that check in to keep on track and monitor otherwise I don't keep with it and the whole process is lost. With that out of the way,I believe my weight loss or lack of is due to a higher sodium count.I retain my salts and I noticed that my sodium intake yesterday was higher than 2 days ago so I will take my meds to release my water and we will see what tomorrow brings. As of today I will still enter my food intake on Fatsecret and continue the quest. Thanks for being here for me and remember to smile and do something good for your body today weather it is eating an apple, seeds, taking your calcium or going for a mini walk..Let's make 2011 a great year and take care.Sando

Late night thoughts

2011-02-16T20:56:00.000-08:00

Hello dear friends...
I haven't been writing for a little while.Seems like I just get too busy in my life and time gets away from me.I am so ready for spring .
How about you all,are you just as ready to see some spring flowers and nice days to get out and enjoy? I have been trying to change my eating lifestyle and drop some unwanted pounds. So far I have lost 5#.That is pretty good considering that I just started a week ago.I am diligently monitoring my caloric intake plus what kinds of foods I am feeding my so called furnace. The good part about this is that I also have my husband thinking about his weight also and so he is also trying to eat better.I have several inspirations that are driving me,one of which my youngest son is getting married in December and that gives me plenty of time to get into shape. The wedding will be in Florida which makes it even nicer.( a vacation to boot!).Also I want to feel the best that I can and keep up with my grandchildren and have my sons not be ashamed of their moms appearance.Don't get me wrong ,I know they love me but I want to be a better example to the ones I love. Sooooo I have decided to post my trials and tribulations of my new quest and hope that you all will be here for some support.Oh, good news from my cholesterol labs....overall cholesterol is 177 which is very good for me.The nurse said I was very healthy and whatever I was doing to keep it up.Hows that for good news!!!! Maybe my friends, I will live to be 100!!!!
Well keep in touch my friends to see how I fare on my journey.Take care Sando

Saturday Thoughts

2011-02-05T12:13:00.000-08:00

Hello Dear friends..
I have not been on for several days so I thought I should check in so you all know that I still exist.I have been busy with painting my hallway and I am happy to say I am close to finishing it.I know, you wonder why it takes me so long to get it done.Well, first off the wall needs 2 coats to cover, secondly getting up and down a ladder isn't what it used to be.When I remember how I used to scramble up and down those things! Good times my friends when I could run like a pup...now I feel like an old dog somedays..lol
However,I am getting the job done.I went to visit my mother-in-law in the hospital this week. She fell and broke her hip and had to have surgery to repair it.Now this woman is 82 years young and can run circles around me(I am ashamed to say). She is in amazing shape for her age. After 3 days of falling she was sitting up in a chair, laughing and going on and even walked 8 steps while we were there visiting her.I must say I feel that is pretty remarkable for a woman of her years.I don't believe there are many out there that can recoup as well in that amount of time."Kudos to you Mom".Well that is all I can muster up to say today and I need to get off my kiester and get a move on so take care my friends and be safe. Good morning my dear friends!
Today the weather is nice and the sun is shining but it won't be long before we get a bundle of snow upon us so get prepared and go stock up on whatever you need to get you through a couple of days.Maybe it won't be as bad as they predict but time will tell.
I got up and spent the morning with my sister(Diana) having breakfast and going to get a pedicure and our eyebrows waxed. It was relaxing and a fun time.Wish our other sister was here to do that with us(Mary). Things just keep getting worse,I tell you my friends.
Not for me but my mother-in-law fell last night and broke her hip so she is having surgery in a few hours.I don't know about you all but this seems to be a tough winter for us around here.I know spring is coming and there will be brighter days but I have to say that I can hardly wait for them. The good news is my little Jax is doing superbly recouping from his surgery. He is a tough little guy which is why I love him so.On that note,I am signing off and wishing everyone a joyful and very safe day.Take care..Sando

Joyce Elder Schutt visitation

2011-01-30T18:07:00.000-08:00

Dear Friends...

Today Greg and I went to my dear friends,(Joyce Elder Schutt) funeral visitation.I have to tell you there were so many people there as I knew there would be.Joyce has touched the lives of so many people. It takes a very special person and not everyone can do that. I often think about the impact I might make in this world.I know that I could never hold a candle to our sweet Joyce but I know that I am a better person for knowing her and thinking about what a lovely human being she was inspires me to be a better person and therefor,Joyce you have left something in this world for me and your existence was not in vain.God Bless you

Jax's return

2011-01-29T07:28:00.000-08:00

Hello friends..
Yesterday was a busy time for me as I had to go pick Jax up from his overnight stay at the vet.Remember he had to go get neutered and front paws declawed. He is doing fantastic but we are being careful of his stitches.I am so relieved to have him back home.Even Taylor is being good with him sensing that he isn't up to par.I went to bingo last night with Diana but again we walked away with no winnings.I guess bingo just isn't my game but we had a good time anyway. It would have been nice if my other sister(Mary) could have been there with us also."The three musketeers" lol.I got home from bingo and my brother (Gary)called me and we had a nice visit.Well the husband is out on the ice fishing with his comprades this morning so it is nice and quiet around the house.I am enjoyin my 1st cup of coffee deciding what I want to do first this morning.I hope everyone has a safe and fulfilling day today.Take care...Sando

Sad Day-Joyce Elder Schutt

2011-01-27T13:35:00.000-08:00

Joyce M. Elder Shutt

1949-2011
Dear Friends...
Today is a sad day for me.I feel I need to share my thoughts and feelings. My dear, dear friend (Joyce Elder)passed away today sometime around 1:00p.m.We knew her passing was coming soon but it still doesn't prepare you on how it effects you when you hear the devastating news.Joyce was a beautiful person who was loved by many, many people. She had a sparkle about her and an infectious laughter.I for one will never forget her laugh.I loved her very much and will miss the fact that I will never laugh with her or hug her again. We had many good times together when we were young. We worked together and rode to work together. We went out together with our husbands and had many good times.I miss those days and I will miss my dear, dear friend! Thank you Joyce for being a part of my life..you will be sincerely missed and may God hold you in his loving arms tonight..

Jax's big Day

2011-01-27T10:10:00.000-08:00

Good morning friends..
Today is a nervous mommy day for me.Baby Jax is at the vets getting neutered and declawed. He has never been away from home and I am sure he is scared that I abandoned him.The vet office would not let me send his comfort bear or blankie with him which makes it worse.I know that he will be fine but it is who I am when it comes to my pets.I miss him already and I just dropped him off..Silly I know..Anyway it is snowing like the dickens out there today so everyone drive safely!!Today my doggie (Heidi)is coming home from up north with her dad. They spent 2 days of frolicking and fun so hopefully they will be worn out..Lol..I did get some painting done, some cleaning and a little sewing done in their abscence..These are on-going projects so I don't see any light at the end of that tunnel!!!!I had a nice surprise the other night as my cousin(Robert)had called me.I had not spoken to him in many years.I had also conversed with his sister(karen)through Facebook. It was nice.I also chatted on facebook with two of my grade school classmates. It was good!!
It brought back many memories.I am sorry to say that I am having trouble getting motivated today but I feel it is largely because of how I feel with Jax gone.I can call to check on him after 3:00 and pick him up tomorrow around 5:00.
I wish today I could focus more on being cheerful and uplifting to my readers and for that I am sorry so with that note I am going to say adeiu and remember smile and connect with someone today!!!!!It will bring some joy to your heart!!! Take care...Sando

2011-01-26T14:31:00.000-08:00

Hello my friends..
My thoughts today go back to my childhood and my childhood friends.I think of them often and have even contacted a few on facebook. This past year has been a year of losses of dear friends that I and my husband have grown up with.We are at an age now where this could be a frequent experience(sad as it is). From these past losses it reminds me that time is shorter than we think and we must put past issues aside and make the most of what time we have left.So this year my bucket list per say is to connect with old friends, distant cousins and spend more quality time with my siblings and personal family. It is hard to do since everyone is so busy in their lives but I want to put my utmost effort into achieving some sort of connection with the people that mean and meant so much to me in my life.Maybe it is called nostalgia!Maybe it is called wisdom in knowing what the important things in life are!Whatever you want to call it,it seems to be the path I am willing to travel this year.Sooo my dear friends,I leave you today to discover what path you want to travel and hope you find what you need to fulfill your soul.Remember, smile everyday and say something nice to someone but mostly do something nice for yourself.Take care..Sando
