New Website!

Re-designed website! Somewhat... half working re-designed website (hey, pretty good for self-taught and learning as I go), but it's up! Not all of the links are fully functional just yet - but have been put on the page in the hopes of very detailed and top-secret plans to expand.

The newest issue of the zine, March/April 2010, marks our 1 year anniversary here at Sandwich! Available for download or viewed online. And be sure to pass it along to others!

Happy 2010! We have major ambitions for this year! So please join us in our marketing campaign to get more contributors, readers, and visibility. Included in our plans are a film festival, community outreach programs and PSAs, a gallery showing off some of our best assets, affiliates, vlogs, blogs, and podcasts.

But we need your help and participation! Step up and volunteer to help out. We've got the supplies; are you willing to spend and afternoon with us making movies, stickers, and eating...sandwiches? For those contributors who are far, far away from headquarters (start gathering more contributors in your community!) and start posting on our blog (or facebook, if that's the way you roll). You can also follow us via Twitter or sign up for our mailing list.

 March/April 2010, 1 year anniversary issue up!

One Year Anniversary edition of the zine is UP! This issue is massive, so, if possible, please download from mediafire. You can also download from our 'current issue' page. But please right-click -> download to your computer! Save some bandwidth for the new site!

I'm going to try to get up an 'online viewable' version on flickr.com this weekend. The images have to be converted to a smaller size and then uploaded. So those of you that might not have 119MB worth of space on your computer to spare - we'll let you know when that's up!

And please remember to send in your comments and letters to the editor!

Website updates, events, anthologies, and awards! Oh my!

The May/June issue is in the works. Next week the 8th issue of Sandwich Zine will be available for download, view on flickr.com, or an online flash player - so keep checking back.

Some minor updates to the site, including Sandwich Zine desktops are available on the Media page.

We've had some great press this past month with, our editor, Alexa Casciato's interview with ModCloth.

Contributor, Brett Staggs of 'The Longtime Darlings' has an upcoming gig at the local 31st Street Pub. More info on the Events page.

And don't forget to vote for, contributor, Don Dumont's band "Dead Man's Clothes" for Portland, MA's Best New Act Award. Vote by May 7th! You can download some of Don's music on our Media page. (I really need to finish creating that pop-up player!)

For the month of May, we'll be accepting submissions for a special 'black and white' issue of the Zine (Issue 8.5). The issue will be cheaper to print and allow us to get Sandwich into the hands of a larger audience. The issue will be incorporated with a sort of 'yearly anthology' including other previous works, and then donated to local libraries that house 'zine' collections.

At the end of May, we'll be hosting an Ice Cream Sandwich Social - more information soon! We'll bring the ice cream - you bring the toppings!
