If they get sick they don’t pay which is the opposite to our medical model not just in Australia but in most of the western world. They live from a place of prevention and don’t wait to get ill. The biggest change I have made in my life in the last twenty years is that I now life from a place of prevention and enjoy a state of good health and wellbeing.

You know your body is just like your car. You put your car in for a service regularly but you don’t necessarily treat your body with the same respect and yet you expect it to perform better than your car. The same as your car needs regular checkups so do you so that you don’t go getting to that breakdown stage.

Breakfast on the run.

Picture this, your alarm screams at you at 5 or 6am. You are the one cutting corners by not respecting your own needs, eating well, exercising or making time for fun in your life. Anything that takes the fun out of your life is an ‘energy sucker’ and anything that puts the fun back into your life is an ‘energy giver’ and feeds you energy. Identify your ‘suckers’ and replace them with ‘givers’ that feed you with energy and enthusiasm.

Laughter is the best medicine.

In his book ‘Anatomy of an Illness’, Norman Cousins tells the story of how he ‘laughed his way out of a crippling disease’ that doctors believed to be irreversible. Cousins was an author, diplomat and editor of the literary magazine ‘The Saturday Review’. In 1964, he contracted ankylosing spondylitis – the connective tissue in his spine was disintegrating. He was told that there was no record of anyone ever beating the disease and that adrenal stress could have been the cause behind it. What’s stopping you from creating the life of your dreams or becoming everything you wanted to become? Are you afraid of failure or success? For a lot of people it’s both, which doesn’t leave many options open. It was Helen Keller who said ‘Life is a daring adventure, or nothing at all’. Fear of the unknown is a normal part of life but one that we should learn to leverage to our advantage rather than allowing it to stand in our way.

Ten Simple ways to bring balance into your workday

In research we comissioned three years ago only six percent of people interviewed felt that they had a handle on work-life balance .Four out of five people said they were experiencing work-related stress at least once a week (I know some of you are thinking, ‘I wish I were stressed only once a week!’), and almost three-quarters of people said that a lack of time was their main challenge to leading a balanced life.

Move your body.

Daily exercise is vital to both your physical health and mental wellbeing. Quality sleep vs quantity is vital. A busy mind leading to broken sleep does not allow for a fresh mind on waking.
