We all know too well — directly or indirectly — the consequences of the ultimate distracted driving: driving under the influence of alcohol.

Several years ago, Pennsylvania changed its legal blood alcohol content level from .10 to .08. This means that most of the time — even when you feel "OK" — you are still driving over the legal limit, putting you, your passengers, other drivers and pedestrians at risk.

Alcohol-related deaths account for more than 30 percent of all traffic fatalities in Pennsylvania. Holiday weekends, such as this weekend, are times when drunk driving-related deaths and accidents typically rise.

To keep your BAC at a legal and functional level, you can use the "Alcohol Impairment Chart" found under "Alcohol Education" on the state's Liquor Control Board website, www.lcb.pa.state.us. Quick tips: Keep to one drink an hour, and have a glass of water between each drink. Craft beer drinkers: Ask the bartender the ACV (alcohol content by volume) before ordering; many of these delicious beers pack a wicked punch.

All of that said, the absolute safest means of travel when drinking is to have a designated driver (and I mean someone who isn't drinking at all, not drinking less than everyone else).

Local bars are starting to implement incentives to ensure the safety of their customers.

At Drinkin Bone, designated drivers for parties of three or more people receive a free meal and soft drinks.
At Flinchy's in Lower Allen Twp., designated drivers get all their nonalcoholic drinks free, plus 10 percent off their food. Read more ...

At Harrisburg gentlemen's club Savannah's on Hanna, designated drivers aren't charged an admission fee.

Memorial Day weekend is here! To me, it has always been the kick-off to summer and what better way to begin than by getting together with friends and family for a cookout, pool-party or other fun outdoor occasion. My favorite part is laughing and telling stories of years past while sharing a few brews with friends. The best part now is that most of my favorite beers now come in cans!

Over the past few years we have seen a definite upswing in the availability of craft beer in cans. Who cares right? Beer is beer what does it matter what it comes in? Wrong. There are several awesome reasons for having craft beer in cans.

Click through for 4 great reasons for drinking craft beer in cans.

My favorite reason to have beers in cans is so that I can drink them in the shower. Before you judge hear me out -- Sometimes, after a long run or mowing the lawn, you're all hot and sweaty, obviously need a shower, and are wanting a beer. Well, why wait? Grab a can and hit the showers! With your beer in a can, there's no fear of accidentally dropping your beer and glass going everywhere you don't want it, and you can have a little moment to relive those college-years because it just seems ridiculous.

The next best reason is that you can use them outside. Yes, you can of course take a bottle or glass of beer outside as well as your plastic party cup, but to keep the sun out of your beer, the can is the best way to go. Sunlight is one of beer's worst enemies as the hops in beer are very sensitive to UV rays. It doesn't take very much exposure for your beer to suddenly taste skunky, in fact I know people who claim to notice it within 15 minutes of being outside. Grab a can and think of it as sunblock for your beer!

Also, cans rock because they're easy to transport and more likely to be recycled. Canned beer is lighter than bottled beer, so you can fit more in your cooler, not just space-wise but because you can carry more. Then when you're done, you can quick crush them up and put them back into said cooler so you don't pollute and take them home to be recycled. I hope you're recycling them, it makes Mother Nature happy. Plus, cans can go places glass ideally should not such as the beach, golfing, skiing, hiking, the pool, etc.

Still looking for a good reason to grab a can of beer? Lots of awesome brews are now available in cans. Recently, Sierra Nevada started canning as well as Sixpoint, Anderson Valley, 21st Amendment, Alchemist, Surly, Maui Brewing and Baxter. Oskar Blues has been canning their beer for almost 10 years, and they definitely know what's up! Best of all, most of these beers are locally available to us at your favorite local beer stop.

So, as summer approaches and Memorial Day weekend arrives, I say get out there and grab some canned brews for your adventures and let the new memories mix with the old.

Congrats! As you emerge from the water, your first leg of the triathlon is officially done. Now, hop on that bike! Wait - let's back up: Where did I get this bike? Bicycle shopping can be an expensive endeavor; however, it's definitely a worthy investment if you're going to use it.

I purchased my bike in July 2010, and while I cringed handing over my credit card, I love my Dolce, and am so glad I have it. Buying a bike is like buying a car, so do your research. It's imperative that you get fitted for your bike, and cycling stores will be able to help you find the best fit for your build, budget and needs.

A cycling store can also help you with the decision as to whether you want clips on your bike or not. Locally, we have cycling stores Pedal Pushers, Holmes and Gung Ho, just to name a few.

My friend Joe offered me some helpful advice before I went bike shopping: "Do NOT pick your bike because it has 'cool' colors. It can really influence your decision, and it's the least important part of the bike." So, remember that! We can always have a spray painting party after or something.

Now, even if you learned to ride a bike as a kid, you will probably be a little rusty. Practice, practice, practice! Ride the course if you can, practice doing hills, and practice eating and drinking while biking (it's not quite as easy as you'd think). Learn how to work your bike, learn how to control the speeds and get comfortable on it. While not an equal substitute, attending spinning classes will also help your biking capabilities.

Now, it's time for the transition to the bike portion, (T1). Keep in mind that this time does count towards your official race time, so it's important to be as efficient as possible.

Prior to the race, you will put your bike on a rack, so take a mental picture and remember exactly where you left it. Also, before you hop in the water, it's helpful to lay out your biking gear and a towel, so it's ready for you. Dry off as quickly as possible, and start layering up. If you're wearing a swimsuit, leave it on under your clothes, as it will dry quickly. (If you're wearing a wetsuit, obviously remove it.)

Your bib should be pinned to your shirt (best to go with wicking fabric or cycling jersey) prior to the race, and cycling shorts are helpful with keeping your butt comfortable. As for shoes, there are countless options available, and you can check out this site for more information, as well as ask at a cycling store as to what will best suit you. Helmets are required by the USAT, so strap that on.

The biking portion of a triathlon can be anywhere from 12 miles to 110 miles. Study the course map beforehand, and while you don't have to memorize it, it's helpful to know where to expect turns and hills.

If it's a longer bike ride, I usually pack some kind of fuel for it, as I find it easiest to eat when biking. Cliff Shot Blocks are my preference, but gels are also quite popular and easy to eat.

As for the actual race, once you get moving, stay focused. Passing others is just like driving, stay to the left to pass, and it's standard to let the other cyclist know you're present by simply yelling, "On your left." The USAT bans drafting, so don't risk it. Pass and move on.

The biking part is always the longest, so stay hydrated and keep pedaling. Before you know it, you'll be hopping off your bike and starting transition 2 (T2). Congratulations, it's now time to run!

I had a chance to catch up with The Eagles' legendary bassist and singer last week from his home in Los Angles as he was getting set to embark on the 13-date solo tour to talk about Expando, his history with The Eagles and how the band plans to mark its 40th Anniversary.

Jeff: Your solo tour comes to York on May 26 in support of Expando, which was released in 2009, and you wrote and recorded all of the songs in your home studio. That had to be a nice feeling to make a record on your own terms and own time.

Schmit: Yeah it was. It was way different. The buck stopped with me, and I could try and experiment with whatever I wanted to. In a band situation you have to sort of compromise and it's a series of trade-offs, basically. In this situation you do what you please, not to say that the band situation is not a good one, I'm just saying it is different.

Expando features a really impressive list of guest musicians – from Graham Nash to Kid Rock to Dwight Yoakam, how did that come about?

Basically I would get a song to a certain point and then have to figure out what to do next and wonder if the song is actually finished – that's a tricky one in itself to know when one is finished. I would think who I would like to play or sing on it and I would kind of just shoot for the top of my favorites.

TBS With Kid Rock

In some cases, like Graham Nash, he's been a friend for a really long time. I've known him for a long time and that particular song ("Parachute") just begged for his voice so I called and asked him. It's timing too, are you in town and all that sort of stuff.

Kid Rock is a guy I was bumping into all the time in Malibu, and I actually bumped into him in London once. We started talking and swapping phone numbers and he had some time and came over and did that.

It was all really, "Hey, would you come over and do this? I would love to have you play or sing on this or that." Ninety percent of the people I called, maybe more, accepted my offer. A couple people didn't for whatever reason, but mostly people did so it was really great.

I just listened to Expando for the first time the other day and really enjoyed it.

Thanks! This album has been out since 2009, and I really never thought it got a good fair shake and you're proving that to me because people have still not heard it.

I'm hoping that people will get turned onto it because I think they will enjoy it. I mean not everybody, not people that listen to Metallica are necessarily going to like it, but maybe they will I don't know. I think it's worth it.

You have such a recognizeable voice and its hard not to compare these songs to The Eagles. There are a lot of good songs on this album that could pass as Eagles songs, how do you know this is going to be a solo song, this is going to be an Eagles song?

I just write, I write when I can and as much as I can. It's a long process for me. If I think something might be worth Eagles if we indeed are recording, I might pull it out and play it for the others and it either takes or doesn't. If it doesn't, which has happened, I go okay, I have that in my hip pocket for my own album. It's really that simple, I just try to write as much as I can. It's kind of a struggle for me, and it's kind of like being in the zone, you have to be in a zone to do it and once you start to get in that it's hard to get out of it. And you don't want to get out of it because you keep paper by your bedside and stuff like that because when you're falling asleep you think, "Ah. This line should go there!"

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of The Eagles. I read that there is a History of the Eagles DVD in the works, are there any other plans to mark the anniversary?

Eagles - 1979 - On the "So What" (Joe's Boat)

Well, that is supposed to be finished I think in two parts by Christmas and people are working diligently on that. I don't really know, I don't know if there are going to be other supplementary recordings. I don't really know yet and a lot of different things have been bandied about. We'll see what happens

There's certainly no inclination to do a next album or anything, at least not yet. I don't know if that will ever happen but we did that last one and I never thought we would so that was encouraging. Right now its just the DVD and hopefully we will totally restructure the live show and do a bunch of shows next year. I'm hoping.

Touring with the Eagles and doing a solo tour are completely different. What do you take from each one that you enjoy more than the other?

I really honestly enjoy it all because I kind of get to do it all. We just played the New Orleans Jazz Fest, and that day there were 65,000 people there. It's true there was a bunch of stages and we were on the main stage as the final act on Saturday night and I could not see the end of people. I mean, it was amazing.

We do arenas, typically 12-25,000 thousand-people arenas and sometimes we do stadium shows and it's great. It's a lot of energy at those things, but it's a little less personal than playing a 300-seater or 500-seater, which are more like the venues I will be doing on this solo tour.

It's the same as in you're up there playing and singing and trying to hopefully have the audience relate to the stuff. That's the same, but the difference is the size and how personal it is or isn't. Of course, the smaller venues are much more like sitting around a living room with a fireplace than an arena is. But it's all good!

When The Eagles broke up in 1980, you were relatively newer to the band. How difficult was that to go through?

The Eagles - 1994

I was aware that there were some strange vibes and some conflicts but honestly I didn't realize how deep they were because I was fairly new in the organization and these kind of things had been I guess festering. But I really thought it was regular stuff, it felt like any other band I had been in ya know - having some strains and conflicts and disagreements and this and that.

So when it finally did break up and I knew that was it - and I thought could have been for good like everybody else – I was very upset and I definitely had a sadness going. I was just really getting into it and loving it.

Then my whole lifestyle kind of changed slowly. I was going through a divorce, I was living with another woman who I've been with now for almost 34 years – which was obviously a very good thing, I had my first child, the band broke up, I put a solo record out and then lost my record contract. It was very roller-coastery and I was a little bitter about it too I think, truth be known, silently bitter and upset.

But as soon as I accepted my new lifestyle and saw my glass as half-full and filling up more and more on every other level, and started to come to terms with that, the band - everything started falling together and then we finally did get it back together. So that's how it works right? You just have to accept what's going on and keep working hard and you see what cards you're going to be dealt.

It doesn't seem to be something totally uncommon for bands to fight and break up.

Honestly, it seems to me like every band I've been involved with, or even other bands that I know of, it seems like its kind of normal to always be on the verge of breaking up. It's just kind of the nature of it. So now I really just take it a day at a time and I don't freak out if things are looking grim. Different moods you know, and if the mood is waning it used to really affect me, now I'm really thankful for all that is on my plate, really.

Did the breakup and all of those years off make you appreciate The Eagles more than you would have if it just kept going?

Yeah, I'm sure it did. In 1994 when we did get back together, we really only had planned a couple months of touring, not an extensive thing, and that was going to be it. But it was received on such a massively huge level that we are still going. I always appreciated it, I really did and I still do. I try not to take any of that stuff for granted because it's pretty special stuff. I'm one of the lucky guys, there are a lot of talented people out there who don't get this kind of life, ya know? People are way more talented than me that you'll never hear, I'm one of the lucky guys.

Throughout your career, you've played and sang on so many great songs with your bands and many other bands. Do you have a favorite song that you have been a part of?

TBS With Brian Wilson - 1996

Geez, I don't know. I've sung on a lot of really great records and amongst those are some Eagles songs. I was really fortunate with "I Can't Tell You Why" and there's some more what they're calling now "deep tracks" like "Sad Café" on The Long Run album, that was a great one. Off the new album, I think the real gem of the album is "Waiting in the Weeds" - the Henley composition. There's a bunch of Steely Dan songs that I got to sing on that when I hear them it's just so great that I was able to contribute to. I know I'm not being specific but there's just too many.

I got to sing "Caroline No" with the Beach Boys on kind of an obscure record called Stars and Stripes and I went out and sang background with them.

These are really high points to my career and in a lot of these cases like the Beach Boys for instance, I used to listen to them in high school. I never dreamed I would even say hello to one of them, let alone sing with them or know them. Brian Wilson has been to my house, ya know? It's pretty great.

I also read that you are credited with coining the term Parrotheads when you were a member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band?

Ah! The important question always pops up! [laughs] Yes, I coined that phrase. I played with Jimmy for a short while and was riding in his limousine one time to one of those outdoor venues where you have to drive through the crowd to get to backstage and people started recognizing him and started getting excited. I just said something to the effect of, "You got your own set of Deadheads here, but they're not Deadheads they're Parrotheads," and I guess he liked that.

Once this tour wraps up, what do you have planned next?

I definitely have plans on continuing writing and recording for the next project. I've actually started a little bit. The slow part for me is writing and I'm surrounding quite a few ideas right now and I'm looking forward to that.

Tickets for Saturday night's show are still available online.

I grew up going to outdoor Y (miss you!), so the refreshing chill of a swimming pool is something I love about summer. Who wants to swim in something warm when it's hot?

Second, is the pool's mantra, "We don't care where you live, just where you swim!" Unless your township has a community pool, it can be expensive to find a public swimming area (and some communities won't even permit non-residents at all - I'm looking at you, Camp Hill!).

Plus - BSP is fun. They have a slide AND waterslides. And, each summer they hold the BSPool Summerfest (this year scheduled for June 23). Finally - stayed tuned for the select $5 Fridays, where admission is just $5.

One lucky reader can win one (1) 4-punch card you may use however you like (go 4 times by yourself, take a friend twice - take 3 friends once). The card is good this season only, through Labor Day 2012.

Last night was my first time at Williams Grove Speedway, and the only local racecar driver I've actually met - Danny Dietrich (we guest-bartended together for CPAA's Yappy Hour this past February) did really well ... until he wrecked his car in the last lap. It was fun to cheer him on as he zoomed by - and to hear the crowd yell for their favorites, including winner Lance Dewease.

This morning, we're off to Ashcombe, so I can finally get my vegetables and herbs going. Can't wait for tomato season! As I've mentioned, then it's PA Greek Fest and Vineyard at Hershey - and we're thinking of capping the night with dinner on the deck at Cafe Magnolia.

A decade ago, downtown Harrisburg got its first makeover in generations, and the masses flocked to the main strip for food, fun, drinks and dancing. Ten years later, the momentum has evened back out, but it's often easy to forget those off-the-beaten path pubs that are in our own backyard. Many of these mostly neighborhood bars have gotten facelifts or are offering new specials. In any case, now is a great time to revisit these spots or discover a new favorite.

What used to be Pete's Cafe is now Pete's Olde Towne Bar & Grill. The New Cumberland staple sits off Bridge Street; its roots go back to the 1940s. Pete's Cafe closed in 2006 and Pete's Olde Towne opened in April under new ownership. Read more ...

Around the corner, Coakley's Restaurant & Irish Pub keeps busy with events and specials throughout the week. A few weeks ago, I told you about its Bloody Mary contest, which is now in its final stages. Visit Coakley's this weekend and ask to take part in the judging.

Meanwhile, with ample new food and drink discounts, you can make any visit worthwhile. Read more ...

Also under new ownership, The Coliseum has a few new specials to boast as well. Read more ...

The Grotto Pub in tiny East Pennsboro Twp. packs a great sports bar atmosphere with affordable prices and fun events all week. Read more ...

However, I've found the craft beer community to be nothing but welcoming and knowledgeable. All it takes is a little assistance to learn some beer basics - and a curious palate.

To help celebrate American Craft Beer Week, I wanted to offer a little insight into the world of beer terminology to expand your bar vernacular. Let's start off simple by talking beer styles.

There are many different styles of beer, so knowing what characterizes each type can help you determine what you will prefer, which is the starting point for exploring new brews.

All beers are technically an ale or a lager, and then divided up into more complex styles from there based on origin and social acceptance. There are more than 100 different styles of beer based on these divisions, but I'm going to stick with the basics.

Click through for an easy beer break-down, plus suggestions on how to find a new beer for you.

Here are the official descriptions from Beer Advocate:

Ales

American India Pale Ale (IPA): typically a golden color and features American hops that give it a citrus and herbal flavor. These traditionally taste quite bitter.

Hefeweizen: a German-style wheat beer yellow or orange in color with banana, clove and/or orange flavors. These have a high yeast content making it cloudy in appearance.

Witbier: similar to the Hefeweizen, but can often have a peppery or spiced taste and is traditionally lighter in color. The witbeer has a lighter mouth-feel compared to the hefe, and are also referred to as a "white beer."

Saison/Farmhouse Ale: originally brewed in farmhouses during the winter and meant to be consumed all summer, this beer can have quiet complex flavors and are considered to be dry and sometimes tart.

Porter: originating in England, porters are traditionally characterized by a malt flavor with occasional hop bitterness and are very dark in color.

Stout: also originating in England, stouts tend to have a more roasted flavor and can feature coffee, chocolate, or even oatmeal essence based on the malts and grains used.

Lambic: commonly created with cherries, raspberries, peaches or currants, Lambics are fruit beers that have low hop and malt flavors and are primarily characterized by the fruit that was added during the fermentation process making them very sweet and tart.

Lagers

American Amber: sort of a "catch-all" term for many American beers, this brew is usually amber in color with average amounts of malt flavor and low bitterness.

American Light Lager: the typical "American Beer" featuring rice and corn additives to make them lighter in color, flavor and texture. These beers have the least amount of flavor compared to all other beer styles.

Bock: a heavier beer style originally created to provide sustenance during Lenten fasts, most are lightly hopped and have a more bread taste.

German Pilsener: very light golden colored and well-hopped exhibiting citrus, herbal, and floral aroma and flavor.

I'm sure as you're reading through this list you are already classifying your favorite brews into the different categories. Well, now it's time to take that knowledge and run with it to new, different beers that might be of a similar style. Let's keep it simple and let your palate pave the way.

If you love American Light Lagers such as Bud, Coors, or Miller Light, try branching out to a pilsener such as Victory Prima Pils or Troegs Sunshine Pils. Neither of these beers are overwhelmingly hoppy and are quite crisp and refreshing. Also, moving to an IPA could be an easy transition such as Bell's Two Hearted Ale or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Favor Yuengling Lager? Go for another amber like Brooklyn Lager or maybe check out an Anchor Bock Beer for something new.

Some of you are glued to your Blue Moon but it's time for you to embrace a better wheat beer. Might I suggest a summer favorite like Bell's Oberon or Ommegang Witte which feature that orangey flavor you love.

I love stouts, and I highly recommend you try out Yard's Love Stout and Left Hand Milk Stout.

Feeling smarter yet? Remember, if it's on draft, most bars will allow you to sample a little taste of a beer before you commit, so you have no excuse not to expand your beverage horizons!

First, I had the honor of being a part of The Patriot-News' "Celebration of Journalism" honoring Pulitzer prize winning reporters Sara Ganim and others. You can catch up by searching #PNpulitzer on Twitter.

After that, many of us headed over to the Abbey Bar for the 5th Anniversary of the #hbgtweetup. If you're a local Twitter user and you've never attended, join us anytime - the tweetup is held the third Wednesday of each month, always at the Abbey, and in nice weather, we're always on the deck.

This weekend we're celebrating faux Mother's Day since Andy and I were in Mount Pocono last weekend for the Tough Mudder. So, in lieu of your standard brunch and wine, my inlaws are coming for the weekend and we have a number of events planned.

On Friday, they are dragging me kicking and screaming to Williams Grove Speedway where we'll pay money to wear earplugs and drink our own beers out of coolers. I'm a good sport, but racing does not do it for me.

Saturday, we'll head to Ashcombe's for plants and other goodies, followed by lunch at PA Greek Fest. Originally we were planning on dinner at Cafe Bruges to treat our moms ... until I realized it's not only Dickinson graduation, but a car show weekend as well. So, instead, we'll treat moms to a wine tasting at Vineyard at Hershey!

My weekend will close with - no kidding - an invite to a "Drunk Brunch."

What are you doing this weekend?

Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, if you put the effort into it, I believe you can learn how to swim successfully at any age.

Keep reading for swimming tips for all levels. Try that tri this summer!

Beginners: If you're starting from scratch, do not be intimated. Many local pools offer adult swimming lessons, and they do so for a reason. The YMCA, Central Penn and the Friendship Center all offer adult-geared swim lessons. If you're a newbie, sign up, and learn the basics of the stroke. What have you got to lose?

Intermediate : You can hold your own in the water. Maybe your parents signed you up for lessons as a kid, or you were in an age-group swim team. I'd recommend finding a local gym with a pool to swim in and practicing, as well as incorporating drills into your routine. It's also helpful to pair up with a fellow swimming friend, so you can critique each other's strokes and help each other when needed.

Advanced: Finally, if you're confident in your swimming skills, at the very least, I'd recommend getting in the water a few times to make sure you aren't rusty. Once again, drills are helpful here too, as well as breathing exercises and sprints.

Most triathletes use the freestyle stroke (also known as front crawl) during the race. It's the fastest way to get from Point A to Point B and the easiest stroke to learn.

Once you feel comfortable in the water, if you are able to, try to get in at least one practice swim in open water. While some triathlons have their swimming leg in a pool, most take place in a lake or river. Obviously, do not attempt this alone, and make sure the body of water is open to swimmers.

Swimming in a body of water is completely different than swimming in a pool. It's most often much darker and murky, and you'll have to practice raising your head above water to scout out your route. It'll make race day easier if you've had a bit of experience already.

Now that you've got the basics down and you're ready for race day, it's time to man up. The range of a swimming portion of a triathlon is anywhere from .5 miles (sprint) to 2.4 miles (Ironman).

As for gear, according to the USAT, if the water temperature is 78 degrees or lower, participants may wear a wetsuit. This helps with buoyancy and to protect you from the water temperatures if it is particularly cold. Most people opt to wear their shorts and shirt they need for the rest of the race under the wetsuit, since it cuts back on transition time. However, a wetsuit isn't a necessity, I've never worn one (I usually wear an old fastskin), and just throw on my shorts and shirt over my suit after I got out of the water.

In a triathlon, you'll be broken up into waves, sometimes by age, sometimes by gender. The race will provide you a swimming cap to wear, and that corresponds with what wave you are in.

If you are still a little nervous about swimming, I'd recommend starting closer to the back of your wave. During the start of the swim, it's pretty chaotic, and it's easy to get hit by a nearby swimmer's arm or leg. Once the whistle goes off, it's important to not become overwhelmed, remain calm and remember the basics you've been practicing.

Remember to breathe, and make sure you follow the route. There are usually large, bright buoys to guide your way. Races always have lifeguards on kayaks or boats in the water as an added precaution, in case you need help. The best advice I can give you is don't panic, and if you need a break, swim on your back for a bit, this will help you stay afloat. However, if you've been practicing, your stroke should be strong by now, and you have to remember, you can do this.

Luckily for most people, the swim is the shortest length of a triathlon. I promise, before you know it, you'll be running out of the water and preparing to hop on your bike, because it's time for leg two!

"It completely blew my mind," Gallaher said in a recent interview. "I knew that I had a pretty good fan base at home but I had no idea it was going to blow up like that. Everything was just going haywire in my mind. It was an incredible night."

Recorded at a friend's apartment in Nashville, Gallaher's impressive 11-song debut strikes a balance between sing-along boot-stompers and heartfelt country ballads – some written in high school and some finished right before he started recording in January.

"This is about the third time I've recorded some of these songs, but this is by far the most advanced," Gallaher said. "There are parts to every one of these songs that I love, but I think Tennessee Whiskey is the best song that I've written to date. I finished that in December right before we started recording."

Ben Gallaher will perform live at the next SaraBozich.com Happy Hour on May 23.

Currently a junior at Belmont University in Nashville pursuing a major in Entertainment Industry Studies and a minor in Music Business, Gallaher had the unenviable task of balancing school work and recording.

"That is a problem, and that's why my grades second semester went down," Gallaher laughed. "We started recording in January and it took so long. I thought we would go in and knock the record out and be good to go. I had no idea the process it takes to record an album."

Now that the album is out, the focus moves to promoting the record and building a fan-base, and judging by the crowd reaction when Gallaher opened for Craig Campbell last week – he's off to a great start in central Pennsylvania.

"To see people singing back 'Then There's Friday' and 'Hold Onto Me,' it's just unreal," Gallaher added. "I can't describe it."

It may have taken Ben Gallaher a little longer than he wanted before he took his guitar to Nashville to chase his dream, but the wait has certainly paid off.

"I wanted to go to Belmont from high school, and I was absolutely devastated when I didn't get in - but it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me," Gallaher said. "I made so many great friends at Penn State Mont Alto and wrote so many songs that ended up on the record that year. Looking back, I wasn't ready for Nashville yet."

Now that he is ready for Nashville, the sky certainly seems to be the limit for the talented 20-year-old from Camp Hill. So what is next for Ben Gallaher?

"When I finish school I don't know what is going to happen, but the plan now is for me and the band -- which I'm working on as soon as I get back to Nashville -- to get a van and start playing dive bars. That's what you have to do," Gallaher said. "It takes years and it's hard work but it's 'how bad do you want it' – and for me there is nothing else I would rather do."

You can hear Ben Gallaher perform for FREE at the next SaraBozich.com Happy Hour on Wednesday, May 23 at The Thatch (3rd floor) of Ceoltas Irish Pub.

Right about now, Andy and his team have embarked on the Tough Mudder. I'm somewhere nearby, shouting encouraging things and hoping that no one gets injured. They've been working so hard toward this goal, and I'm so excited for the team to realize this accomplishment.

Other things I'm excited for:

That bottle of Jamaican rum my neighbor is bringing back for me from the islands.

Gardening season - and dreams of fresh tomatoes for dinner every night.

The return of Burn Notice, Suits and Royal Pains on USA.

In the meantime, you know we keep pretty busy up in here. Here's the rundown in case you missed anything:

RSVP today: Upcoming Events: Spring/Summer

Oh, and I join most of America, tweens everywhere and those fine Ivy league baseball players with this obsession. I <3 this:

Yards sprang from the creative and frugal minds of two college friends turned homebrewers, whose common love for craft beer catapulted into one of Philadelphia’s most coveted breweries.

Today the fully functioning, eco-conscious brewery — it's the first fully wind-powered brewery in Pennsylvania — churns out a series of ales, seasonal brews, an "Ales of the Revolution" series, as well as a stream of small experimental batches, typically shared with beer lovers via firkin at local bars and restaurants.

Starting next week, Yards brings the beer to us, with a series of events at some of our favorite watering holes.

Read on: Out with Sara: Yards Brewing Co. will soon bring beer to the midstate

So, how do we stand out in a sea of bikinis and board shorts? With a few quick suggestions from the resident fashionista-in-training!

Click through for swimsuit dos and don'ts for men & women:

Here are a few suggestions and latest trends that will surely have you feeling like the center of attention on beaches and lakes nationwide:

Wear a suit that fits. Before I even get to the trends and fun stuff, I have to stress how important it can be to have swim attire that fits you. Nothing is more embarassing that getting out of the pool and having a wardrobe malfunction! Guys, your bathing suit should fit you in the waist. Please tie the strings and remember it will weigh more when wet. We don't want to see that. Ladies, tie those strings tightly and opt for a bigger size if it will keep you from mimicing Janet Jackson.

Men, there are more options than just those tired, long, solid trunks. Yes, you have your favorite pair of super long blue trunks that you've been rocking for the past few years, but it's time for an update. I'm not saying go get a speedo, in fact I would only recommend that for David Beckham, but I am suggesting you step out to the mall and see what's new. Consider a new pattern such as stripes or a fun color like orange or teal like these from Gap. Also, check out the latest board shorts, which are a little bit shorter but still completely acceptable. I like these from Lifetime Collective.

Ladies, don't be afraid of a one-piece. Until the last few years I only had two images of one-pieces in my mind: pro-swimmers and 80 year-old women. These days, one-piece bathing suits can be just as sexy as a two-piece, plus I feel like showing a little less can be even hotter, leaving a little to the imagination. Monokinis are totally on-trend and seen on celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Miranda Kerr. I'm really feeling this stylish fringed mono from Pac Sun, especially since its a supportive halter. Also, check out a vintage look such as Mod Cloth's classic polka dot one-piece or this cut out Kenneth Cole suit from Macy's.

Can't accept the idea of the one piece? Go for a trendy ruffled or metallic two-piece. When it comes to bikinis, it's always important to accentuate your assets. Ruffles make this simple. Want to draw attention away from the lower body? Opt for a cute ruffled top like this from Target. Color block was all over the runway for this season, so it would only make sense to rock them on the beach. I really love this suit from Macy's, especially when paired with tribal patterned sandals.

Now get out there and swim, just don't forget the sunblock!
