*Warning: Picture heavy post ahead!

Number of Years Card – The first one features a few favorites – Gold Glimmer Paper, Brights Designer Series Paper Stack, Number of Years stamp set and Large Numbers Framelits dies. I can’t get enough of Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight paired together. I love it! The background is stamped with the tiny dots stamp (in Daffodil Delight ink) from the Number of Years stamp set for a tad bit of texture. Tiny strips of Gold Glimmer Paper peek out from the edge of the main panel. This sentiment may be one of my favorites ever!!!

Starry Bright Birthday –  This one is a fun one. I love the color combo on this one and did a few fun things. The alphabet stamp was two lines so I masked it off to make it one line, the sentiment is white embossed (heat embossing is one of my favorite ever things to do), and the washi tape was put onto a piece of white paper and punched out to make the small star! Gorgeous Grunge was used for the fun splatters on the main star. Both the main negative image star, as well as the little washi star were popped up for some depth with Stampin’ Dimensionals (I think I need an auto-ship subscription on those with the way I go through them)!

Soft Floral Thank You – When you have beautiful stamps, it’s really easy to make them shine! That’s why I stamped the images, cut them out and layered them over some first and second generation stamped leaves. My favorite detail of this card is that the pieces in the back were temporarily adhered to a separate sheet of paper so I could stamp the background onto all of the pieces at once, yielding a continuous background. I cannot get enough of this kraft paper. It’s really perfection…the perfect neutral to use with ANYTHING!

Izzy’s Party Hat – Ok, so this one may make you laugh. Remember how I said I’m a mama now? Well my sweetie turned one in January and of course, I had to use awesome Stampin’ Up! products for her party! So the night before we were to go to the photographer for her one year pics, I decided I’d make a party hat. It took me much longer than anticipated so I was up into the wee hours of the night crafting this beauty. As a result, it didn’t get photographed by me until after both the photographer’s pics and her actual party. Both times eating cake…so, you may see bits of frosting here and there. I figured this is an authentic 3D item…one that was used and loved! You’ll see pictures of her wearing it below on the scrapbook page.

The hat is two layers of Designer Series Paper to make it sturdy. I found a pattern on the internet that I traced onto the DSP and cut it out. The pom pom was made out of both the Mint Macaron/Basic Black and Melon Mambo/Basic Black Baker’s Twines. I threaded the string (that I tied around the bundle of twine) into the hole at the top of the hat and taped it inside to secure it. It’s definitely essential to find a way to secure the hat onto the party girl’s head so I poked holes on either side of the hat, threaded Mint Macaron lace trim through the holes, and both tied a knot and taped it to the inside. Hot glue was my best friend, both for gluing the sequin trim onto the edge of the hat and right under the pom pom, as well as to create the rosette. The “1” is my fav Large Number Framelits Dies (I just ordered the BRAND NEW letters yesterday! Yippee!), simply cut out of Gold Glimmer Paper.

In Color Treat Bag – I had a friend convince me to get this die a few years ago. I haven’t regretted it since! So many options for great treats that fit inside. This bag actually has – SURPRISE – no stamping on it! It’s rare that happens to me as I love my stamps and ink, but the star of this bag are the dies included in the set (here the banner, sentiment, and bow). I made this one to show a technique at a local upline meeting where you place the positive image back into the negative image to place the little pieces back in (like the centers of the “o”s). I used circle punches to crop out the negative image and the layer behind it. The silver doily and Silver Glimmer Paper give a touch of shine! The largest banner in the back was punched with that genius Banner Triple Punch. Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush together just make me happy!!!

1st Birthday Scrapbook Page – I bet you can’t tell who inspired this cute little scrapbook page. I once again turned to the same suite of products that I’d used for her party and relied on Stampin’ Up!’s expert coordinating products to make my page extra special. So this features not only the paper, but also the coordinating Baker’s Twine and Enamel Dots. I love the sweet little single balloon from the Balloon Celebration stamp set (and matching punch). The number, banner and word stamps are from the Large Number Framelits Dies and Number of Years stamp set (these and the balloon set/punch may be my favorite things I’ve purchased EVER). The base of the page is that fabulous Kraft cardstock, and the matching solid layers help ground the page, as well as the photos. There’s a lot of dimension here that is impossible to appreciate from pictures on a screen.

I thought I’d better get this Tap Tap Tap birthday card post up as the Tap Tap Tap stamp set is one that will be retiring this month! I found this post in my drafts folder so I actually created this card close to a year ago!

I cannot believe how long I’ve owned this stamp set and not used it!  My sweet friend Allison is a huge fan of this stamp set and has constantly inspired me with her adorable uses for this versatile set.  SO…I finally pulled it out to make a vintage-loving friend of mine a birthday card.  Allison had colored a Lost Lagoon typewriter on one of her Tap Tap Tap cards in a similar way so that’s what I did – not sure if we used the same supplies, but hers was the look I was going for.

Cut List
Hello Honey Cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
Basic Black Cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″
Typeset Designer Series Paper: 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″
Color Me Irresistable Designer Series Paper: 5-1/8″ x 1″
Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Cherry Cobbler, and Very Vanilla Cardstock scraps

How To
1. Stamp typewriter onto Lost Lagoon cardstock (RETIRING) and the paper portion of the typewriter onto Very Vanilla.
2. Stamp sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes onto Very Vanilla “typewriter paper”.  I used post it notes to mask the sentiment to make it two lines (watch for a video on that coming soon). Cut out paper (two separate pieces).
3. Color typewriter parts with Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker and Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker (retired but any silver marker will do). Cut it out using the Paper Snips.
4. Stamp alphabet stamp on Hello Honey paper (RETIRING) with black ink. Punch out selected letters with the 1/4″ Handheld Circle Punch (RETIRING).
5. Punch heart from Owl Builder punch out of Cherry Cobbler scrap.
6. Adhere typewriter paper, letters and heart onto typewriter. Place Stampin’ Dimensionals on back.
7. Adhere black embossed stripe from Color Me Irresistable Specialty Designer Series Paper (RETIRING) onto Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper (RETIRING). Adhere that onto black layer and then onto card base. *TIP: With this Typeset paper, they are much thinner (this is NOT true of all specialty DSPs but of the 24/pack ones), so use a dry adhesive instead of a liquid.
8. Unravel Cherry Cobbler Thick Baker’s Twine (RETIRING) and make a messy nest of a few strands. Stick it to the back of the typewriter, onto one of the Stampin’ Dimensionals.
9. Attach typewriter to card.

This was a card I created for the As You See It Challenge #101. Obviously it’s over now, but you can play along with the current challenge or use any past challenges to inspire you too!!!

This bright card was a creation that blended the challenges from Colour Q Challenges and Retro Sketches this week! I LOVED both and wanted to make one more project to show at a mini tool demonstration I did at a team meeting last night. My tips were all about die cuts, specifically ones with more than just 2 pieces when the cut is complete. I’m planning on filming some videos on the tips I shared so those will go up on the blog as soon as I get them done (I’m nursing some dry, broken cuticles back to health before I can film).

I’ve still been loving fun foam for popping up larger panels. I still use Stampin’ Dimensionals for most things but I know the fun foam for large panels holds up better if the card is going to be mailed. I’ve rediscovered my love for my ATG (Advanced Tape Glider) so I use that to adhere the fun foam to my cardstock, but any strong adhesive should work well. I have used Stampin’ Up!’s Tear & Tape, as well as Fast Fuse with good results!

Cut List
Thick Whisper White Cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″; 4″ x 1-3/4″
Whisper White Cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″ (no reason you couldn’t use the Thick here – I already had panels cut to this size)
Marina Mist Cardstock: 3-3/4″ x 1-1/2″, 2 strips at 1/2″ x 1-3/4″
Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz, and Night of Navy Cardstock: 2 strips each at 1/2″ x 1-3/4″

How To 
1.Die cut Whisper White strip with ‘hello’ die from Hello You Thinlits Dies. Adhere a piece of Marina Mist cardstock to the back of strip.
2. Place regular word die cut (positive image) back into the cut strip to guide where to glue missing pieces in (the loops of the ‘h’ and both ‘l’s, and centers into the ‘e’ and ‘o’). *TIP: I use Multipurpose Liquid Glue (and a tweezers) for this but it is VERY important that you don’t get too much on the small pieces or it’ll squish out and adhere the positive image onto the Marina Mist too!
3. Adhere small colored cardstock strips to the bottom of Whisper White layer. Stamp Dots for Days Background Stamp (RETIRING) in VersaMark ink. Here’s another card using the Dots for Days Background Stamp!
4. Use SNAIL to adhere 1/4″ Pear Pizzazz Cotton Ribbon (RETIRING) about 3″ above the bottom of the card. Fold ends onto back. *TIP: I much prefer folding the ends of the ribbon onto the back of the card and securing them with Scotch tape to trimming the ribbon off at the edges. It often frays if it’s trimmed so taping it onto the back prevents this.
5. Adhere panel onto card base (I used Fast Fuse).
6. Use fun foam to pop up sentiment panel onto card front.
7. Cover a small area of a Tangerine Tango cardstock scrap with the clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush pen. Punch star from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (RETIRING) and adhere to card.

It’s really a pretty simple bright card, great for a masculine or kid’s card. It would also be super easy to make this into a more feminine card with a different color combo and a little heart (like in the original sketch). I was tempted to add some Candy Dots (RETIRING) or sequins to it but didn’t want to disrupt the white space, as I LOVE this sketch. I think I’ll have to use it again.

I have made all the retiring items in red letters, just so you don’t miss out on something you love! The Stampin’ Up! It’s another challenge from the As You See It Challenges! If you’ve been around very long, you know that this is my favorite type of challenge. I just love it and the great variety of creations people come up with to meet the challenge. I LOVE this color combo for this bright birthday card! It’s from the Color Throwdown for last week but baby’s nap on Friday wasn’t long enough for me to get the card finished, let alone photographed, edited and blogged. Oh, well. I ended up loving this combo of Real Red, Crushed Curry, Tangelo Twist, Pool Party and Whisper White. I have so rarely used Tangelo Twist and it is so, so bright in person!

So today’s card is a mix of a bunch of different stamp sets, all melded together to create a super fun, bright birthday card perfect for any kid. (I find boys cards more challenging than girls, so I kept the elements pretty gender neutral. *Side note: Do you know how hard it is for me NOT to add ribbon to a card? Wow!) The star is from the Peaceful Pines stamp set, the alphabet strip from Tap Tap Tap, the splatters from Gorgeous Grunge, chevron from Stamp A Bag, and sentiment from Crazy for You.

One of my fav elements? That polka dot washi tape! I used it for the main diagonal stripe on my card and then used my grid paper to align every other stripe according to that one. I stuck a piece of washi onto Whisper White cardstock and simply punched to get the small star in the center.

This card is actually pretty simple! The only tricky (read: time consuming) part was the alphabet strip. That stamp is actually two lines so I stamped it onto my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement on the card, inked it up, removed the second line with a baby wipe, then stamped it using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. To finish the strip, I inked up the second line, removed the first line with a baby wipe and used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to align the second part of the alphabet with the first.

Here’s a link to a project from my stint as a Display Stamper for Convention 2014! I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig on it, as well!

You can’t see it in the picture but the Real Red strip has a chevron background stamped onto it, before I heat embossed the sentiment in white. Man, that was a labor of love; my VersaMark that I stamped the chevron with just wouldn’t dry down so powder kept sticking to it, as well as the sentiment!

I’ll have a video tutorial coming up about how I created the starburst punched piece. It’s a scallop circle punched and then put back in and rotated just a bit so you’re punching again, basically in the center of each scallop. The brilliance of this technique? Do it with any and ALL scallop circles – the size doesn’t matter!

It’s no surprise that it’s pretty easy for me to make a feminine thank you card but I’m really loving the way this one came together. A “fill in the blank” challenge from As You See It (“Thank You” is my favorite sentiment to use), a color challenge from Color Throwdown, and a sketch challenge from Retro Sketches provided me with massive inspiration! I’m wild about this stamp set – What I Love – just one of the many Sale-A-Bration exclusive options this year FREE with a $50 purchase.

Today’s card uses a very basic stamping technique that never fails to delight me with it’s simplicity – 2nd generation stamping. It’s where you ink up the stamp and then stamp off onto scrap paper (I always use my grid paper since that’s what I work on) and then stamp it onto your project. The result is a lighter image and it works perfectly for two step stamp sets, although it’s a useful technique for many different things. I also love to use it when I am making a layered or collage stamped piece.

Cut List
Blushing Bride cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″; 2 strips at 7/8″ x 4-1/4″
Pear Pizzazz cardstock: 7/8″ x 4-1/2″; 7/8″ x 4″
Kraft 12″x12″ cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″; 2-1/4″ x 2-3/4″
Very Vanilla cardstock: 2″ x 2-1/2″; scraps

How To
1. Stamp flower outline from What I Love twice onto Very Vanilla scrap in Blushing Bride ink. Stamp flower details (I used the stamp with less coverage but you could do either) lighter by stamping Blushing Bride inked stamp off onto scrap paper first.
2. Use Paper Snips to quickly fussy cut the two flowers.
3. Stamp leaf image (also from What I Love) onto Very Vanilla layer, stamping once full strength and then once without reinking to get a lighter image.
4. Adhere one flower directly to the layer and adhere one with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
5. Adhere Very Vanilla layer to Kraft mat.
6. Temporarily adhere strips onto a sheet of copy paper how they will appear on the card. Stamp the Dots for Days background on them in VersaMark ink. This will give them a seamless look.
7. Adhere strips onto larger Kraft layer.
8. Stamp “Thank You” sentiment from What I Love in Soft Suede ink onto the larger Kraft layer.
9. Tie Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon around the layer.
10. Adhere to Blushing Bride card base with Fast Fuse adhesive.
11. Adhere focal point with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto card.

The Remarkable You stamp set is probably my favorite line art set I own! The images are a great size, wonderful to stand on their own on a simple notecard, to be the focal point of a larger card, or even for larger scrapbooking or 3D items. They’re fun to color, but also look stunning stamped in black ink on white cardstock or tone-on-tone with matching ink and cardstock too!

I used a bold color palette on this birthday card for my good friend, Sara (I hope she loved it as much as I did!). The mixed font greeting is from the awesome set, Endless Birthday Wishes. I LOVE that it’s a photopolymer set so it makes mixing and matching the sentiments especially easy. I would say it’s my 2nd most used set right behind Teeny Tiny Wishes!

The image was one I colored for the 30 day coloring challenge (I’m behind by a couple of days right now). I colored it with Copic markers. I’ve had them for a long time, but rarely used them as I started only using Stampin’ Up! products for several years now. You may or may not know, but Stampin’ Up! introduced our own alcohol-based markers a few years ago and I remembered how much I love coloring with this particular medium. The SU! ones had some issues from the manufacturer and were discontinued, but my love for alcohol-based marker coloring was rekindled! So I pulled them out, googled an image of a calla lily, and took inspiration from there to blend the green, yellow and red. I ended up really pleased with it.

I’m always saying that cardmaking is a process. This card was no different. I’d stumbled upon a sketch I loved when I was researching ideas with the Tap Tap Tap stamp set and wanted to try it with this image. The sketch I was inspired by had the main portion (focal image and vertical and horizontal strip) going from edge to edge on the card. I thought my image was plenty large enough and just started cutting. Before I knew it, it was too narrow to span to the edge and have the vertical strip be the 1″ that I planned. I tried it on a regular A2 card but just didn’t love it with the skinny border on two sides and larger at the top and bottom. So I ended up with a very unique sized card. 4-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ was the finished measurement. I may retry making it another day and cutting the focal image piece 1/4″ larger (width) to see how it would compare to this one!

Anyway, I think the rest of the card is pretty simple, so I’ll just get on to the Cut List and Supplies!

Hello!  Today I have a new challenge coming at you from As You See It Challenges!  LOVED this sketch. I obviously took it VERY literally but of course, you can do any repeated image! I also used a technique called watercolor smooshing. It is so easy and beautiful! Click to go check out the challenge over at the As You See It Challenge blog! I hope you can join us this week. The colors I used are from the Color Throwdown challenge. I actually used their colors in last week’s card but was too late to enter it by the time I got the blog post written!

If you read my last blog post, you’ll know that I’m participating in the The Daily Marker’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge. This card was a 2 day process. After it dried the first day, I ended up adding more color and decided to tie in the Basic Grey by adding it with an Aquapainter on one side of the heart for a shadow. *TIP: Our new Archival Ink pads in Basic Black and Basic Grey are not made for watercoloring and will dye the ends of your brush. They also don’t move as well as our regular inks as they aren’t water-based.

Here’s the sketch and color challenge I used this week!

Cut List
Basic Gray Cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
Watercolor Paper: I recommend using a larger piece and cutting it down after everything was dry. It ended up being 4-3/4″ x 3-15/16″ but I didn’t even measure it to get that. I just cut where I liked how the edges looked with the pattern.
Cardstock Vellum: 1-1/8″ x 3″ (to edge of scallop, the original piece was larger) Scallops were cut using the Squares Collection Framelits Dies.

I love to color! I’ve always loved to color. So stamps are a wonderful way for me to color and be creative without having to draw the actual images myself. (NOTE: Please don’t ask me to draw…stick people are even pretty rough for me!) The best thing about the stamps in this set? I made this card last night on Periscope as I wanted to get started with the 30 Day Coloring Challenge from Kathy over at The Daily Marker. The people watching last night actually helped me with several decisions on this card! Such fun! Fun detail: The “Friend” letters are actually the new Gold Wink of Stella!  It is so so beautiful in real life! I use the Clear Wink of Stella more (usually) but this card made me need to break out the gold more often!

Hello!  Today I’m getting my As You See It Challenge card posted!  A few days late but I’m getting closer to getting back on schedule!  This one was tricky as Stampin’ Up! has retired our edgelits and edge punches so I had several ideas swirling around on how to create the “ruffled” look. Check out the other Design Team gals’ creations at the As You See It Challenge Blog HERE! Check out Amy’s use of the fringe scissors…she’s a total genius! As for me, I ended up using the Envelope Punch Board to make my zig zag/ric rac look.  Watch for a video on that coming soon!

I also combined the sketch challenge from AYSI with the Color Throwdown Challenge for this week!  I LOVE the color combination here – I normally never do browns with blacks or greys so this really was a challenge for me! A tricky detail to see is the white sequins I’ve used to really draw the eye to the sentiment.  I’m obsessed with these Greetings Thinlits Dies! They are fantastic – wonderful size and great font!
