Hello Sarcophagus Smashers!

The guild officers have been having discussions about how to improve the guild, (besides earning more guild renown!).
The first topic that has come up is scheduling raids, like The Chronoscope. Ultimately we would like to do a raid once a week. If there are any preferances, please leave a comment hear or send a tell or message to any officer. Hopefully this week we can get some kind of scgedule set up. The raid info will then be posted here on the guild blog.
Besides being fun and having great loot, raids are a great way to earn guild renown. We a a newer guild with mostly lower level players (questing our way up). The more quests and raids we do, the faster we level up and can get bigger and better weapons, armor, better and larger ships and amenities.
For our first raid as a guild, our officers have agreed to purchase guest passes for Devil's Assault/Chronoscope for any guild memebers that wants to run the raid.
Any guild members that needs help with a quest or has any questions about the game, send a tell or message to any officer.

Something fun on the guild ship

Have you been on the guild ship lately? Besides a new paint job and an awesome orange ring, the guild has recently added a chest to the guildship. The chest is well stocked with a variety of weapons, armor and other handy extras. All you need to do is open it and you have access to the goodies inside. Feel free to take what you like and if there is something you would like to leave for other guild members you can add it to the chest. Be sure to talk to the hirelings on the ship for protection spells and buffs.

We are always looking for new guild members. If you are interested in joining our guild, send a tell to any of our officers. There is usually someone online. Wilderness areas

Wilderness areas can be very important when it comes to XP and leveling, they genrerally are very big, and are very easy to get lost in, but there is a ton of expirence that can be taken from these areas. The best wilderness areas to do are the ones that are in your level range, have plenty rare encounters and explorer objectives, and obviously a plentiful amount of monsters to be slain. The unique thing about wilderness areas is that they can be done solo or with a party. While there are many quests in the civilized areas that require a party, or just one person. A full party is nice because they can get the whole map cleared of quests, monsters, explorer, and sometimes rare encounters(which can give out decent loot). The problem with having a full party is that sometimes people may miss things or certain parts of the map. If you play solo, you will know which parts of the area you've yet to explore, and you won't have to keep up with anyone. This will take much longer though, due to less damage being done to the monsters and much less ground being covered.

The Korthos wilderness area is great for xp, and is a small area that is easy to navigate around i reccomend doing this wilderness area until all objectives are complete.

Waterworks is not so important when it comes to xp for the area objectives which are slayer and rare encounters, but the quests give good xp, and a balanced level 2-4 group could easily get these quests done easily on normal and maybe hard.

The Cerulean Hills which is the other wilderness area has a few quests, I strongly reccomend doing those and comleting the rare encounters, and explorer if your up to it.

Searing Heights is a very fun wilderness area to play, a few good quests, slayer is 750 but is relatively easy to get due to the size of the map, remember to bring cold weapns here as well.

Major Slayer Count Boost

Slayer quests can be fun, but let's be honest here, some of them get a little monotonous running through the same board time and time again! Available in the DDO Store through August 18th is Major Slayer Boost Potion. For 30 minutes, your character can hack and slash through the wilderness with 66% more monsters! 120 Turbine Points may be a wise investment to help get through those boards faster. It pauses in public areas and while logged out just in case you aren't able to commit to the full 30 minutes of combat. Have fun!

Melee class

When creating a new character in DDO, there are three classes to choose from, and that is melee, spell casters, and specialists. I reccomend you create a melee class, especially if your new to the game. After you select the melee path, there are three different classes to choose from, you can be a barbarrian, a fighter, or paladin. If your a beginner, i strongly suggest you be just a human or dwarven fighter. The fighter does not have any special powers, and is not the smartest character, but is pretty strong and can do a lot of damage. They can also wear any kind of armor, which means there is more protection, which means less damage is done to you. Usually, if you have good armor, it is very difficult for enemys to do much damage to a fighter. If you were going to create your own stats for your fighter, i would suggest you have a high strength, some constitution(you wont need too much constitution do to a higher armor class), and some dexterity, the rest is not important for a fighter. Also, fighters can use most weapons in the game, but I usually use a sword and shield if there are many enemies, since it boosts your armor class, but two handed weapons work as well. A barbarrian is probably the toughest of the bunch, but the most difficult to play ith unless you choose the correct abilities and race. Although you can train to wear heavy armor, its not until your character gets higher level. Barbarrians are best with two handed weapons and light to medium armor( if the barbarian has a higher dexterity than costitution wear light armor, and vice versa). The best race to be as a barbarrian is a half orc since they get bonuses to strength and constitution. Barbarrians should have a high strength and constitution, and if you do not want a higher constitution, add those extra points to dexterity. Another class to choose from is the paladin, which is the same thing as a fighter, only they give up some strength and constitution for intelligence and wisdom, or charisma for a little spell casting. Your paladin will get spell points at level 4, and can provide healing, not as much as clerics, but better than none at all. The paladin should have relatively balanced stats, which is why they are known as the most balanced characters in the game. Monks are free to V.I.P's, but if your premium or free to play, your going to have to buy the monk class. Monks do not have spell points, but after striking many opponents, they get an energy called ki, in which you can perform special moves which can do extra damage, stun opponents, and give you bonuses to armor class. Monks usually have decent constitution, and a high strength, and a high dexterity, since they use natural armor, and outfits. Instead of using weapons, monks use handwraps which can also get bonuses. They can use shiruken, or throwing stars, but thats about it. Always remember if your character is getting close to medium level, and you think your stats aren't good for your class, remember, you can fix this because you can fix these every 4 levels, and every time you level up your character gets better, and there is equipment that can give you bonuses to certain stats, so do mot delete your character.

Favor Rewards

I've only gotten 1 favor reward so far but I'm going to be getting another one soon. What are these favor rewards you might ask? Well these awesome rewards are given to you when you get enough favor from doing quests on harder difficulties such as hard and elite. I've gotten enough favor from The Coin Lords so my reward was an extra inventory space. The reward I'm expecting is with my total favor. I'm soon going to unlock the Drow Elf. Drow elves are special because they have a thirty-two point build. You get the Drow Elf when you get four hundred total favor. Once you do this, there is an "elder" in the harbor that does not allow you to talk to him until you reach four hundred favor. You will unlock the Drow Elf after you have the favor and after you talk to him. Also, you will get mail that tells you to go and talk to the elder. The mail will give you his name. Why it is good (and fun) to hack and smash!

The crates and barrels stashed throughout the dungeon are full of goodies and extras available for your looting pleasure. Stacks of platinum, gold, silver and copper are revealed with one good bash. Healing potions, magic potions and weapons sometimes pop up too. There is another reason it is worth while to break whatever gets in your path - experience.
Take a look at the XP listed in the screen shot below. There is lots of experience to be had for smashing those breakables. The ransack bonus is worth the time it takes to break all those boxes. To see the score card when you are playing just press "X". It gives a detailed listing of the adventure and who did what. Happy questing!

Still Closed!

As of this morning on 7/16/2011 the crafting hall is still closed. I have searched for an explanation but all I have been able to come up with is the apology published on the DDO Forum which says it is down temporarily.

I don't believe that DDO will get rid of crafting, even though I have seen a lot of rumors in the chat box that suggest otherwise. I have started selling off some of the weapons that I would have normally crafted, as the old inventory is overflowing. Just an FYI, this Monday DDO will be down for maintenance.

Tasty treats that pack a punch are what you will receive from the Jester of Festivault. If you have been naught though, you might end up with twigs or lumps of coal! In exchange for those coins that have been popping up in treasure chests, this festive fellow will give you Festivault tidings in one form or another. He can be found in The Harbor and all the enclaves off of the market place. He will show up on your map, with the same symbol as collectors do. Hope you've been good!
