Mountain View Cardigan

I think, I still owe you pictures of my finished Mountain View Cardigan. It took a long time to knit, but both pattern and yarn were very nice to work with. However, I followed the Carpathian Roses pattern for measurements, as that is my favourite cardigan. Finally, the weather is warm enough to take pics outside again.

Ich meine, ich habe meine fertige Mountain View noch nicht gezeigt, oder? Sie ist schon eine Weile fertig, obwohl es lange gedauert hat bis dahin. Die Anleitung und die Wolle waren sehr angenehm zu verarbeiten. Ich habe mich allerdings im Schnitt mal wieder nach der Carpathian Roses gerichtet, die ist eben meine Lieblingsjacke. Endlich ist auch das Wetter wieder so, dass man draußen Fotos machen kann.

Not a drop

This was rather difficult to take a picture off and a challenge to knit. The result is lovely, but it is very difficult to fix mistakes, if e.g. a stitch does drop from the needle or accidentally you pick up the wrong float to pass over...

I made this for my friend, who had wanted one for a long time, but just did not find the time to knit one for herself.

Dieser Schal war weder einfach zu fotografieren noch ganz einfach zu stricken. Das Ergebnis ist sehr schön, aber beim Stricken hatte ich Mühe Fehler zu beheben, wenn doch mal eine Masche von der Nadel rutschte oder ich den falschen Faden übergezogen habe. Wie man sieht, habe ich keine Spanndrähte und deshalb ist meine Kante auch leider nicht ganz gerade...

Den Schal habe ich für eine Freundin gestrickt, die schon lange einen stricken wollte, aber nie die Zeit dazu gefunden hat. Hätte ich ihn für mich selbst gestrickt, wäre er sicher in der Ecke gelandet und hätte sehr viel länger als eine Woche gebraucht.

Tart Lime Socks

I cannot repeat it often enough, I really do love Mimknits designs. Her pattern instructions are well written and easy to follow and the result is always satisfying beyond measure. These are her Tart Lime Socks and the only modification I made was the choice of a different heel. I prefer a short row heel to any other forms of heels, which all tend to be floppy on my foot.

The yarn is Yarn Addict sockyarn and was a Christmas gift from a very awesome lady. It was my first Yarn Addict experience and the yarn knit up smoothly and has a very nice feel to it.

Ich kann es wohl nicht oft genug sagen, aber ich liebe die Designs von Mimknits. Ihre Anleitungen sind immer klar formuliert und einfach nachzuarbeiten. Das Ergebnis ist immer zufriedenstellend. Dies sind ihre Tart Lime Socks und ich habe nichts als die Ferse geändert. Ich mag einfach die Bumerangferse am liebsten, da alle anderen bei mir schlecht sitzen.

Das Garn ist Yarn Addict Sockyarn, das ich zu Weihnachten von einer Freundin bekam, die ich aus vielerlei Gründen sehr bewundere. (Ich wünschte, ich könnte manche ihrer Eigenschaften mein eigen nennen). Ich habe zum ersten Mal Yarn Addict verarbeitet und das Stricken damit war sehr angenehm. Die Zwirnung gefiel mir gut, das Garn ist weich und fühlt sich auch beim Tragen sehr angenehm an.

22 Leaves

This is my third shawl in 2011 knit from some wonderful Wollmeise sockyarn. The pattern is 22 Leaves by Lankakomero and was a Ravelry knitalong . I was busy with other projects at the time of the KAL, but had it in my queue ever since. It was a quick knit and I enjoy wearing it. Knitting Wollmeise is always such a pleasure that the project made from it always gains priority over all other projects in my house. :D

My drittes Tuch für 2011. 22 Leaves von Lankakomero gestrickt aus der wunderbaren Wollmeise Sockenwolle. Mit Wollmeise ist immer ein solches Vergnügen zu stricken, dass dieses Projekt immer sofort Priorität gegenüber allen anderen Projekten gewinnt. Während des Ravelry KAL zu 22 Leaves war ich allerdings mit anderen Projekten beschäftigt, so dass es eine Weile auf meiner Warteliste verharren mußte.

Finn, Ben or Patrick?

Dieser Huggable heißt eigentlich "Finn". Ich schwankte mehr zwischen Ian und Patrick aufgrund seines Outfits. Bekommen hat ihn unser Neffe, daher das 'B' als Initiale. Er hat ihn allerdings kurzerhand "Lila" getauft!. Tja, so ist das mit Nomen est Omen...

This Huggable originally is called Finn - and in the pattern wears a blue outfit. I could not make up my mind between Ian and Patrick. My little nephew (his initial is B) who received the Huggable as a Christmas present, baptized him "Lila" ("Purple". So much about Nomen est Omen. :D

I had so much fun knitting Finn, that I am currently making an Abbey.

Comfy Shawl

This is the second - albeit No 1 - of the shawls for 2011. The pattern is by Miriam L.Fenton and called comfy shawl. I bet you can see why it bears this name. I had 8 skeins of the yarn and every intention of using it all up. However, after 4 skeins the shawl had reached a vry comfy size already. Bind off was done in Debbie Bliss's Maya.

Das ist der zweite von den 11 "Shawls", obwohl ich diesen zuerst gestrickt habe. Die Anleitung gibt es bei Mimknits. Es ist der "Comfy Shawl" und das Tuch ist in der Tat ein Kuscheltuch geworden. Eigentlich wollte ich alle 8 Knäuel der Wolle dafür verbrauchen, aber nach vier hatte das Tuch schon eine sehr kuschelige Größe erreicht. Der Abschluß ist mit Debbie Bliss Maya gestrickt und peppt das Tuch nochmal auf.

Mizzle Fan

I could not resist signing up for 11 shawls in 2011 and here is the first of two shawls I made in January. Originally, I wanted to do Mizzle, but when I reached the edging, the yarn demanded a feather and fan edging. Well, who am I to oppose the yarn's wishes?

Ich konnte nicht widerstehen und habe mich wieder bei Ravelry für 11 Shawls in 2011 angemeldet. Dies ist einer von zwei "Shawls", die im ich Januar gestrickt habe. Ursprünglich wollte ich ja Mizzle stricken, aber als ich zum Abschluß kam, verlangte die Wolle nach "Feather and Fan". Wer bin ich, dass ich diesen Wunsch hätte mißachten können?

Hydrangea Cowl

Another cowl I knit in the pre-Christmas frenzy. This is the Hydrangea Cowl by Anne Hanson, whose Poinsettia was my first cowl. You first knit the main body and then add a knitted on border. I think it is quite nice.

Noch ein Cowl, den ich in der Vorweihnachtszeit gestrickt habe. Dies ist der Hydrangea von Anne Hanson, deren Poinsettia mein erster Cowl war. Bei diesem Nackenwärmr wird zunächst ein gerades Stück rund gestrickt und dann die Spitzenkante angestrickt. Hübscher, kleiner Cowl.

After Christmas may be before Christmas, but this definitely was given away for Christmas 2010. Loosely based on Elizabeth Zimmerman's February Baby Sweater, I knit this one for our niece and added flower for embellishment.

Nach Weihnachten mag ja für uns Stricker irgendwie auch schon wieder vor Weihnachten sein, aber dieses Jäckchen wurde noch zu Weihnachten 2010 verschenkt. Mehr oder weniger ist es nach Elizabeth Zimmerman's February Baby Sweater gestrickt - nur eben ohne Lace pattern, dafür mit einer Strickblume.

This is the wonderful Vinca pattern by Miriam Felton, who by the way currently offers 3 of her

patterns for the prize of two(check her Ravelry page). It was not an easy knit for me. Don't ask why, but somehow I just could not memorize the pattern and so had to check the chart regularly, which was time-consuming and still involved a lot of knitting back. But it was well worth the effort. I love the construction of this shawl. You begin at the centre of the square and then when this is large enough, you just cast off two "wings" and proceed over the remaining two. Thus it combines the advantages of stole and a shawl, you have a lovely covered back while you can easily drape it like a stole on the front.

Das Tuch gefällt mir ausnehmend gut, obwohl ich eine halbe Ewigkeit für seine Fertigstellung gebraucht habe. Irgendwie konnte ich mir einfach das Muster nicht merken und mußte ständig die Strickschrift konsultieren. Das war zeitaufwändig und dennoch mit einigem Zurückstricken verbunden. Aber "Ende gut, Alles gut". Mir gefällt die Konstruktion dieses Tuches sehr gut. Man beginnt in der Mitte des Quadrates und wenn es groß genug ist, kettet man zwei Seiten ab und strickt gerade Teile an den verbleibenden zwei Seiten an. Somit hat man hinten über den Rücken schön Tuch und kann es vorne wie einen Schal drapieren.

There is another finished Vinca on Ravelry which looks very lovely and has been knitted in only 8 days!!! (Guess how dumb that makes me feel :D)

Inzwischen gibt es noch ein fertiges Vinca-Tuch bei Ravelry, das sehr schön ist und nur in 8 Tagen gestrickt wurde!!!

We start the new year with a pillow cover my daughter made for our little niece last year.

Knitting Bag

I made another knitting bag for the second swap. In the second swap I was finally matched with the moderator after my original partner dropped out the last minute. It proved to be an excellent turn in events as we exchanged a lot of lovely mails.

This bag was knit on the machine, too and can hold a sock knitting and some knitter's gadgets.

Auch für den zweiten "Swap" habe ich eine Stricktasche auf der Maschine gestrickt. In diesem "Swap" wurde ich letztendlich der Moderatorin zugeteilt, da meine ursprüngliche Partnerin in der letzten Sekunde noch absagte. Es stellte sich heraus, dass das eine glückliche Entwicklung war, da Wendy und ich viele lange Mails ausgetauscht haben.

Ich habe kein Photo von meinem Paket an Rhona, aber ein Foto von der Tasche, die ich für sie auf der Maschine gearbeitet habe:

She loves purple and sock knitting. This bag can easily hold a sock knitting, pattern and some gadgets. The pattern is a tuft pattern saved in the knitting machine. The yarn - as always - unidentifiable machine knitting yarn in two shades of purple. I hope she will enjoy her bag.

Das Muster ist ein Tuck-Muster, das in der Maschine gespeichert ist. Die Wolle - wie immer nicht näher bezeichnete Maschinenwolle - sind 2 unterschiedliche Lilatöne, da lila zu ihren Lieblingsfarben gehört. Ich hoffe, die Tasche gefällt ihr und ihr Sockenstrickzeug fühlt sich darin gut aufgehoben.

Diesen Cowl kennt ihr vermultich alle aus der knitty, Eleanor. Leider hat er mir gar keinen Spß beim Stricken gemacht. Vielleicht lag es an der Wolle, bei der ich mich nicht entscheiden konnte, ob sie nun weich ist oder vielleicht doch kratzt? Aber das Stricken wollte gar nicht "flutschen." Dennoch ist es aber ein sehr beliebtes Muster.

This Cowl probably does not need any explanation, as it is so well known: Eleanor from knitty. Alas, I did not enjoy knitting this one. I am not sure whether it was the pattern or the yarn. The yarn has some mohair content and I constantly wondered whether it was soft or itchy.
