Handycam!!

One of my Christmas presents was a Handycam! Here's my first attempt at making a how-to video. I see some things I need to do differently and if I could figure out how not to get my hands and nails (YUCK) in the video, LOL, I'd be happy!

My Wrong Way Witch is Featured on the DIY Show Off Fall Festival!

When I first got into blogging I was mainly interested in blogs that had to do with miniatures, BUT as I got to reading other blogs I became reacquainted with my love of crafting and decorating!

Wrong Way Witch

Here's a fun project for miniaturists and non-miniaturists alike, even the kiddos can make this!!

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Surface to attach your witch to (The mini pumpkins are my favorites. You could even hollow out the other side of the pumpkin and put candy inside. I use a serated knife to do this.)
Pair of half-arms
Pair of half-legs with pumps or boots
Glue
Paint, black, green, orange, purple (your choice)
Fabric for cape and lining (contrasting colors)
I use black duponi and/or taffeta as it holds its shape really well and china silk for the lining
Hair
Black felt for hat and trim of your choice
Broom

TIP: The glitter felt is fun! If you can't find it, you can paint your felt with glitter paint

PATTERN (One-inch scale)

Click on pattern to open it up large and then print.

Paint your arms and shoes. Spray with sealer of your choice. When they’re dry, position and attach them to surface. I used a glue gun.

TIP: You can also cover the legs with fabric and/or ribbon. Lots of possibilities! (See my tutorial for making witchy shoes)

CAPE

Fray check your fabric. Makes it easier to work with. You can either glue or sew the lining to the taffeta. Leave an opening at the top so you can turn right-side out.

After you’ve turned it right-side out, glue or sew opening and iron. Gather top of cape.

If the broom is too long, cut the handle to the size of broom you want. Position broom and attach.

Position cape around legs, arms and broom to your liking. Clue cape to arms and legs and wherever else is necessary to give it the look you want.

HAT

For hat cut out a circle about 1 3/4 inches. (I use a Tru Circle Master template) Cut out top of hat from pattern. Form a cone shape for top of hat. Glue onto circle. You do not need an opening as it will not be going on the head of a doll. Decorate as you desire. Shape as desired. Pin it (I use insect pins as they do not leave holes) and then spray it with hairspray.

TIP: Other options, you can dip the felt in petal porcelain or Stiffy Fabric Stiffener and shape it. It'll hold its shape until the end of time.

Attach hair to hat and attach hat to surface.

Easy as pie! She’s done!!

Do I really need ANOTHER blog, LOL?! Ya know it's because I love all the blog templates and just want an excuse to use them, ha ha ha

I thought I would use this one for posting tutorials and ideas for dolls that I have. This blog won't be quite as active as my other one, so if you want to subscribe to both, no worries, I won't slam ya with posts!!

Sweetheart Apron

This is very easy! You can modify it to fit your needs. Have it hanging on a peg in your mini kitchen or you can make it to fit a doll, but you’ll have to make some adjustments to it depending on your doll.

For pattern, click here. Cut your apron on the fold. Fray check. Hem the apron. Add a frilly trim as desired.

Cut out bib. Fray check. I only hemmed the bottom of the bib. I covered the un-hemmed portion of the bib with bunka.

Glue bib to apron. Gather. I added a couple of darts to the bib.

Now for the waistband. You can take a long piece of your fabric and fold the top and bottom under, but I opted for the easy route for this tutorial.

I used this silk jewelry strand trim that I found at Joann’s. You can use a 4mm silk ribbon or any other trim that you'd like. Glue it to your apron.

Now for the shoulder straps. Once again, the choice is yours. You could use the frilly trim as shoulder straps and cross them at the back, which was what I was going to do initially, but opted for just using the same trim I used for the waistband for an around the neck strap.

You can add a pocket if you desire.

There's no wrong way or right way, only YOUR way! Have fun!

Mini Ballgown Tutorial

Teresa at Inside the Mind of a Mini Madwoman selected this dress to wear to Sares's Costume Party. It is such a beautiful dress! The minute I saw it, I was inspirted to create a ballgown out of this fabric I've had stashed away for quite some time! Thank you, Teresa, for the inspiration!!
