It seems like my birthday keeps coming up faster every year. If it wasn't for a few precious friends, I probably would have let it be just another day.

I finally had some time to reflect on how I have spent these few, yet precious years.

I will always be busy. Rather than accept that overused excuse, I need to make a conscience effort to enjoy the moments when my busy life settles down, to be with the most important people in my life.

Being present in all aspects of my life shall be the greatest gift I shall ever receive.

Although, I did not blow out any candles this year...I could wish for a more beautiful life, but I already have one.

I had so much fun, that I went twice! Surprisingly, I did not fall. I have to thank my parents for those pretty ivory and teal rollerblades that were under Christmas tree years ago. Oh, and the endless school field trips to the skating rink deserve to be mentioned too.

Here's how to look good even when you're freezing cold:

Carry: a wristlet for your cash, id, keys, lip balm, etc.

Wear: a jacket, gloves, scarf, comfortable jeans

Enjoy: your hot chocolate!

Make-up:

I'm finally geared up to try something new by creating a video tutorial for my look!

This year, enjoy who you are. Do not overwhelm yourself with change. Be grateful.

Sassy sugar scrub

Inspired by my favorite lip balm: C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve, I wanted to create something just as sweet for my hands.

What you'll need:

1/8 cup of extra virgin olive oil

2/3 cup granulated white sugar

10-12 drops of fragrance

8-10 drops of vitamin E oil

5oz leak-proof jar

red food coloring

decorative rose

ribbon

Where to shop:

Grocery store: olive oil, sugar, food coloring

Hobby Lobby: Crafty Candle Fragrance

Something Fabulous fragrance,

Vitamin E oil, ribbon, flower accessory

Sally's Beauty Supply: 5oz jar

Mix your ingredients in a bowl separate from your jar. Add more fragrance if olive oil is too overpowering. Add red food coloring so the color matches the scent.

Spoon ingredients in the jar.

Perfect for a homemade gift, beauty night, or just to simply treat yourself.

Sweet and solemn Sunday

Finding comfort in a beaded-feathered turquoise dreamcatcher. Berry, cider, and apple scented candles. New Mexican handmade soap.

Today, I caught up on some much needed rest. Made a protein inspired breakfast. Cleaned my humble apartment. Experimented with some makeup for a more sultry look for November. Turned pages in a book rather than flipping though TV channels.

Being a homebody can sometimes be quite productive. I'm actually looking forward to more nights in, layered clothing, hot chocolate, and homemade soup.

There are two more months left this year. I plan to discover what I can cross off the bucket-list, re-vamp my resolution list, and rekindle some old friendships.

How to make a jar full of your wishes:

Supplies:
♥ jar with a clamp lid
♥ glitter stars (2 small bags)
♥ crazy glue
♥ notecards
♥ stationary embellishments
♥ favorite quotes
♥ permanent markers

Steps:

★ Grab your pretty permanent markers and notecards.

You can also substitute notecards with computer paper,
construction paper, or card stock.

★ Write down your favorite quotes, wishes, or daydreams.

★ Cut the paper with craft scissors to add a design.

★ Take the crazy glue and swirl around the brush inside the jar.

★ Open the glitter star packs and drop them in the container.

★ Close the lid and shake the stars. The stars should stick to the side
of the jar.

★ Place cards inside the jar. Refer to them daily.

★ Use as a decoration or a friendly gift.

Better than organic

This weekend I had the opportunity to be surrounded by the little people I love. I played with guinea pigs, ate endless amounts of ice cream, and learned that the most delightful toy can be a balloon.

I was able to experience the world through the eyes of a nine and a six year old. A simple, yet magical world where cutting computer paper can make a transformer, fish can fly, and sugar followed by more sugar makes for the best day ever.

It was a joy to see that happiness is free, how dreams thrive on such playful energy, and life is measured in giggles.

If you have the pleasure to experience life from pure and youthful eyes, embrace their magic shows, the way they brighten up a room, and continue to leave a smile on your face.

Cherish all of the people in your life.

Officially eight months in the year...times waits for no one. The color run event that I have been training for is just around the corner.

Quite amazing how a little sweat can help clear your mind. Help you discover what really matters, and provide some ease for life's transitions.

One of my goals for this race is to enjoy being outside with people who care about giving back to their communities. I have already put in the work, now it's time to just enjoy the world around me.

Some insight on my preparation:

1. Weight training: 1hr 30 mins. 3-4 days a week

2. Cardio: bike, elliptical, treadmill 30min-45mins 3-4 days a week

3. Stretch after every workout

4. Post-workout protein shake

5. Track 2-3 miles 2-3times a week

Everyday is an opportunity to be better than we were yesterday. May we have more days like these and tender thoughts to guide our dreams.

This weekend I was a solo butterfly on an adventure to appreciate all the things that surround me. I ate yummy food, took the road less traveled, enjoyed the sunshine from my car's sunroof, embraced the wind, and found reflection to be a peaceful past time.

Which leaves my night to consist of a reading, tea time, and a journal entry that will be about how I want my week to be instead of writing about how it went. Just to see if can write my own future and design my view of happiness.

I hope this week consists of passion, drive, and a commitment to achieve all things worth achieving.

This couldn't be more true for my day. I was off to church for my weekly time of worship and peace with a granola bar in my belly along with some creamy, homemade coffee. After that, it was off to buy art supplies for my little sister to make our first scrapbook together.

Yep, can you believe it! I've been a big sister for a year for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. (Read, "I'm a big sister now!" post here) Truly an amazing journey I have had being apart of a younger person's life.

I may live in a small city, and have the ability to travel to more lavish places, but in the end where would I really be if my relationships are shallow?

I'm an avid candidate for independence, but sometimes it's nice to know in a world filled with so many people and things, that we're not alone.

July rewind

I have neglected my sweet blog long enough and wanted to rewind, recap, and remember my recent adventure. (I think I put enough r's in that sentence).

Moving on to Austin, Texas: (June 28th-July 1st)
I really love and adore New Mexico, but my trip to Austin was quite a fairytale. Granted, I was with a great group of gals which added to this sweet, treasure of a city.

This big city swooped this small town lady off her feet!

I never saw anyone on these scooters, but they made for a nice picture.

Amazing how much you can squeeze in a short amount of time. The travel bunny in me has been ignited. There is so much I haven't seen or experienced in this world. I can only hope that I will use my time wisely. We don't live forever and thankful so, because then we really would take everything for granted.

Before May gets away from me and before I prepare for another day, I would like to share my recent adventure conquering a mountain.

It was easy getting started, and harder trekking back. However, just walking and admiring nature was a great feeling.

My wishes for summer: to be outside more, read more books, and take more trips (even mini-vacays), find happiness in the little things, worry less, and embrace being young.

A turtle reminding me of my Delta Zeta sisterhood.

There is beauty in my Land of Enchantment
