So this weekend my husband and I went shopping for new phones. An Apple IPhone4S with SIRI voice technology. This is what he bought me. I love it! There are so many thing I still have not figured out about it yet but can tell you that I will definitely be doing more blogging and more picture taking. It has a whopping 8MPG camera. That is stronger than our current DSL. It has a steep learning curve if you have never owned an Apple product before (me) but I couldn't be happier with it.

This is what he pre-ordered to be delivered on the 7th. It is the Motorola RAZ R. He is quite jazzed but I feel sorry that he has to wait while my new toy is here. Although we had both had our phones for over two years I was happy with my Blackberry Storm 2. The only problem was the incoming rings, chimes, and other sounds all stopped working. I could not tell if I had any incoming calls or messages. His (same phone) has other multiple problems like short battery charge, shutting itself off often for no reason, etc. so it was time for us to buy. I am thrilled with both choices.

So...late Friday evening I was surfing the internet and found this lovely BOM site. BOM is short for Block of the Month and is a quilters term. I love the new theme these talented ladies have chosen so I signed right up and downloaded the pattern. Hope that tomorrow I can find a few minutes to stitch it up. Face Painting

Face Painting is something that I have wanted to do for a long long time. I finally tried it out recently and absolutely love it. So......daughter number two and three and myself will be going this weekend to a local festival and set a booth up to face paint.

Daughter #3 Desk Redo

So....this is the desk that daughter number 3 has been using for the past two years. We recently (2 months ago) deep cleaned her room and I decided to take the leftover wall paint from daughter #2's new bedroom makeover and liven up this lovely little desk.

It really was this ugly before. I sanded it very lightly, applied kilz and then this lovely Robin's egg blue.

In this shot I was not quite finished with the paint on varnish but doesn't it look just lovely.

She is happy to have it back in her room and holding her 4700 pencils, papers, and important items.

Cool and refreshing is the idea with this dessert. I have made several new pies over the last few weeks as my sweet husband does not like cake very much. This is a 'Grasshopper' Pie. The last frozen pie was quite hard to cut and serve so this time around I just used my spingform pan that I normally use for cheesecake. It was so much easier this time. One of those voila' moments.

The recipe is from Kraft Foods. I get their weekly coupons and recipes in my email and this just sounded delicious. I made only one change. I did not have FAMOUS Chocolate Wafers, so I used crushed OREO cookies instead. All the kiddos loved it, and I loved that it was low fat and no one could tell...NA-NA-NA.

4 FAMOUS Chocolate Wafers, divided, CRUSH 2 wafers; sprinkle onto bottom of 9-inch pie plate sprayed with cooking spray.

1 pkg. (1 oz.) JELL-O Pistachio Flavor Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Pudding

1-1/2 cups cold fat-free milk

1/4 tsp. peppermint extract

2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Sugar Free Whipped Topping

1 square BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped make it.

BEAT pudding mix, milk and extract with whisk 2 min. Stir in COOL WHIP and chopped chocolate; spread onto bottom of pie plate. Top with remaining wafers, cut into quarters. FREEZE 6 hours or until firm. Remove pie from freezer 10 min. before serving; let stand at room temperature to soften slightly before cutting to serve.

This sweet little desk was in her room. It was very dark natural oak and quite old. A fresh coat of robins blue and it is just too cute now.

Sweet Little Pincushions

I only had about 9"square of this lovely fabric and wanted to try my hand at these two variations of pincushions. I have several others but since making these a few months back they are all I want to use. I just love those bright, vibrant colors together. I leave the second spool holder connected to the top back right corner of my sewing machine and simply place the spool holder on it. It is so convenient to remove pins as I sew and stab them right in there.

Of course he wanted a little Harry Potter for this years birthday! The banner is old book pages, Volume 5, with brown paper backing and painted letters to spell out his name. I strung the whole thing up on some long heavy cording and hung it from the beam in the center of the room. His gifts were then wrapped in the remainder of the book pages.

This sweet little face (son #2) and his sib's all dressed up in costumes I made between last Halloween and this week as Harry Potter characters to go to the midnight premiere of the last movie! they loved it. I also made/supervised making the wands. This shirt was actually two different boys tees. One long sleeved, yellow, and the other short sleeved red. I removed both shirts' sleeves and attached the yellow to the body of the red shirt. Then I used yellow bias tape to make the stripes and printed out on muslin the Griffyndor crest. I backed that with some heatnbond and just ironed it to the shirt. Afterwards I ran an applique stitch around to secure it.

Purses

This week I made two new purses from old stuff. This was a shirt that I loved the color of but not the fit. I remade it into a new purse with a cellphone case for me. The inside has pockets to match the outside but the lining is bright orange. I also made one for daughter #2 from some vintage 70's fabric and trimmed the sized down just a bit. I do love creating something from nothing and especialy with no money spent.

Fathers Day Bobblehead

My daughter #2 made this this weekend for her stepfather for Fathers Day. It is a Bobblehead of him in his classroom teaching. Her favorite medium right now is Polymer clay and she has worked on many things this year. This is my favorite so far. It looks just like him.

The lyrics to an old country song ring through my head as I type the title for this post. I haven't stopped crafting, in fact I have been super busy with crafting lately. I see to have stopped blogging about it though.

One excuse after another could be said but let just sum up by stating that life, study, school, work, and family all interceded in one way or another for blogging. It is my intention to go back and post some of the photos from my crafting over the past few months to give you a little glimpse backward. I am not a great believer for looking back, but rather I like to plow forward so I know it will be brief.

Pomegranite Juice

Can you guess what this is?

My sweetheart husband is so thoughtful. One day about a month ago he stopped for gas on the way out of town, and bought a bottle of juice to drink on the drive. When he finished it, he save the bottle just for me because it was such an unusual shape. He brought it all the way home, and when he gave it to me I was tickled pink. It had pomegranite juice in it once, but now....

It is the newest addition to my snowmen collection for Christmas.

Ain't it so sweet? He is such a wonderful guy.

Stool Cover

I made a stool cover for my sewing room stool.

This is a small stool we found in Germany during the semi-annual large trash recycling days. It is a tree trunk cut horizontaly, and three spindle legs attached. It is very sturdy, and very heavy, but not very comfortable.

I used denim scraps, and pieced some longer strips for the sides. Then just added a casing which my 12 year daughter #3 sewed while I supervised, and ran an elastic thread through the bottom. Much nicer for my tushy now. LOL.

I have been swapping on swapbot for about 2 months now and this is my latest swap.

It was for a hand knitted or crocheted wash cloth in blue.

Bonus me. I got blue with a ladybug stitched into it, and because I like red I also got this multi-colored with red.

It's really nice to get something nice in the mail once in a while.
