I woke up in the morning, started my PC, opened Google Chrome, suddenly i saw a google doodle. This one was for the occasion of Charles Dickens 200th Birthday . I clicked on the doodle and a google books page opened up and then i read names like A Christmas Carol , Great Expectations , Oliver Twist ,etc. I had heard about some of them, had seen movies and i had read a very common novella "A Christmas Carol", which i read as a part of my textbook in school.

What i like the most about google doodle is that it helps in giving new info and even reminding us of what we already know but have forgotten. This doodle is going to have an effect on me as well as the making of this post. I know that now i am going to read a few stories or novels or i would watch movies on them instead, which i like more. I hope i motivate someone else also to read the creations of one of the Greatest writers of English Literature.

6-7 ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ . ਸੂਰਜ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਸੀ . ਮੈਂ ਤੇ ਪਾਪਾ ਐਕਟਿਵਾ ਤੇ ਜੰਡਾਲੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ .ਖਾਲੀ ਸੜਕ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਐਕਟਿਵਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ . ਉਦੋਂ ਪਾਪਾ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਾਰੁਫ਼ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਸੀ . ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ:-

ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਚੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੰਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਪਰ ਤਾਅਮ ਪਕਾਈ ਦਾ ।
ਰਲ ਫ਼ਕੀਰਾਂ ਮਜਲਿਸ ਕੀਤੀ, ਭੋਰਾ ਭੋਰਾ ਖਾਈ ਦਾ ।

ਰੰਘੜ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਖਿੰਘਰ ਚੰਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਪਰ ਪੈਰ ਘਸਾਈਦਾ ।
ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਸ਼ਹੁ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਵੇ , ਜੋ ਬੱਕਰਾ ਬਣੇ ਕਸਾਈ ਦਾ ।

ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਦੋਹੜੇ ਹਨ .

I always think of downloading some movies but it gets very tough for me to choose the movies that i should download. Suddenly one day, a few weeks ago, it struck in my mind that i should download Jackie Chan's movies. So for the last two weeks or so i have been watching many of his movies . First of All i watched Rush Hour 1 , 2 and 3 & each one of them is awesome. I liked Chris Tucker's acting very much. The movies are full of comedy and action.

Then i watched Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights followed by The Tuxedo, The Medallion, Wheels on Meals, The Legend of the Drunken Master, Around the World in 80 Days, The Spy Next Door, The Forbidden Kingdom and Police Story 1. After watching one of the movies, The Forbidden Kingdom, i was tempted to learn Kung Fu which i tried myself but ended up burying the thought. I, as many of my friends know, want to do everything but only end up doing nothing. I personally liked all the movies that i have stated and am looking to watch more movies from Jackie.

Typing in Your Desired Language

For all those who want to type in their desired language, solution is here. And you need not memorize the word on keyboard that would put the desired alphabet. Rather you are just supposed to type as we do it in SMS's.

Following easy steps are to be followed:-

1. Type "Indic" in google .

2. Open "Type in Hindi - Google Transliteration" .

3. Click on "Download Google Transliteration IME" in the top right corner.

4. Click on "Choose Your IME Language" and choose your desired language.

5. Click on "Download Google IME".

6. Open the downloaded file.

7. Click on "Run".

8. Click on "Continue".

9. Let the Installer download the needed files.

10. Click on the box in front of "I accept the terms of use in 'End User License Agreement".

11. Click on "Next".

12. Click of "Finish".

13. Click on "Close".

14. Check if there is an "EN" sign in the right bottom corner of the screen.

(If it is then everything is done right)

15. Click on "EN" and then Click on the icon other than "EN" such as "HI". (In case of Hindi)

16. Now open any thing such as Facebook and again do the Step 15.

17. Now you can use "Google IME".

18. Just Type any word as you would do it in a SMS, such as type "Surj", press Space-bar and you will get "सूरज". Or type "Swaraj", press Space-bar and you will get "स्वराज"

Why I Am An Atheist ?

It is a matter of debate whether my lack of belief in the existence of an Omnipresent, Omniscient God is due to my arrogant pride and vanity. It never occurred to me that sometime in the future I would be involved in polemics of this kind. As a result of some discussions with my friends, (if my claim to friendship is not uncalled for) I have realised that after having known me for a little time only, some of them have reached a kind of hasty conclusion about me that my atheism is my foolishness and that it is the outcome of my vanity. Even then it is a serious problem. I do not boast of being above these human follies. I am, after all, a human being and nothing more. And no one can claim to be more than that. I have a weakness in my personality, for pride is one of the human traits that I do possess. I am known as a dictator among my friends. Sometimes I am called a boaster. Some have always been complaining that I am bossy and I force others to accept my opinion. Yes, it is true to some extent. I do not deny this charge. We can use the word ‘vainglory’ for it. As far as the contemptible, obsolete, rotten values of our society are concerned, I am an extreme sceptic. But this question does not concern my person alone. It is being proud of my ideas, my thoughts. It cannot be called empty pride. Pride, or you may use the word, vanity, both mean an exaggerated assessment of one’s personality. Is my atheism because of unnecessary pride, or have I ceased believing in God after thinking long and deep on the matter? I wish to put my ideas before you. First of all, let us differentiate between pride and vanity as these are two different things.

Question: How are video games influencing linear forms of storytelling?

Salman Rushdie: That's a very interesting question and I think the answer is we don’t yet know. But I do think that I mean for instance the game that my 13 year-old boy Milan and his friends all seem to be playing right now is this wild west game called "Red Dead Redemption" and one of the things looking over… I mean I don’t even pretend to understand what is going on really, but one of the things that is interesting about it to me is the much looser structure of the game and the much greater agency that the player has to choose how he will explore and inhabit the world that is provided for you. He doesn’t... in fact, doesn’t really have to follow the main narrative line of the game at all for long periods of time. There is all kinds of excursions and digressions that you can choose to go on and find many stories to participate in instead of the big story, the macro story. I think that really interests me as a storyteller because I've always thought that one of the things that the Internet and the gaming world permits as a narrative technique is to not tell the story from beginning to end—to tell stories sideways, to give alternative possibilities that the reader can, in a way, choose between.

I've always thought of the Borges story, “The Garden of Forking Paths” as kind of model of this, that... “The Garden of Forking Paths” is a story, is a book whose author has gone mad because what he has tried to do is to offer every possible variation of every moment. So, boy meets girl. They fall in love/they don’t fall in love. That is the first fork and he wants to tell both those stories and then every variation of every moment down both those lines and of course it’s like nuclear fission. The possibilities explode into millions and billions of possibilities and it’s impossible to write that book. But it seems to me that in some ways the Internet is the garden of forking paths where you can have myriad variant possibilities offered and at the same level of authority, if you like. So I mean I think that's one of the ways in which storytelling could move. And these games, these more free-form games in which the player can make choices about what the game is going to be, become a kind of gaming equivalent of that narrative possibility.

Question: Do you worry that video games are eroding people’s ability to read novels?

Salman Rushdie: I think there are legitimate concerns there and I worry also that there is a dumbing down factor. These games... I mean they sometimes require lateral thinking. They sometimes require quite skilled hand-eye coordination and so on. But they’re not in any sense intelligent in the way that you want your children to develop intelligence to make the mind not just supple, but actually informed. And of course if people spend too much time on this stuff then it militates against that.

One of the things about "Luka and the Fire of Life," which is basically pro... Rashid Luka’s father is basically fond of the video game and defends video games to Luka’s mother, who is much more skeptical of their value. But there is a bit of the book which also suggests that the problem may be that this way of inhabiting the imagination may do something harmful to our relationship to story, to the way in which human beings have always needed and responded to the art of the story and that is something to be worried about, because I think that there is something about storytelling that is very intrinsic to who we are as human beings. So one of the characters in the book refers to man as the storytelling animal—and so we are. We are the only creatures on the earth who do this, so and we may even I think be hard-wired to do it in the way that we have a language instinct. We may actually have a story instinct and so there is a legitimate concern about a new form which may erode our attachment to the story. What will that do to us as human beings?

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS)

First of all i would like to give a short definition of Syndrome. A syndrome is the association of several clinically recognizable features, signs, symptoms that occur together. Computer Vision Syndrome refers to a condition that results from uninterpreted focusing of eyes on computer screen. Some of the symptoms of the this syndrome are headache, dryness in eyes, irritated eyes, neck pain etc. It is not only seen in professionals but in children above ten who either play games or are busy on social networking sites.

To remain relax the human eye blinks about 16-20 times per minute but as we are very much engrossed in the Computer we actually forget to blink and the blink rate decreases to 6-8 times only.

If not corrected at time it can lead to severe dryness in eyes , major headache, strain and muscle spasm . So,In order to keep away from CVS, a 20x20x20 exercise has been recommended by Ophthalmologist Dr. Jeevan Ladi . In this we should look away from computer screen after every 20 minutes and look at a thing placed at 20 meters for 20 seconds with continuous blinking .

And i hope all of you practice that and remain healthy .
