where the dish will be located,This involves finding a position with a clear view of the satellite.A dish must have a clear lone-of sight view because any obstruction absorbed or reflects microwaves and subsequently lower the amount of signal received. How the dish will be mounted. The small DTH dish ca n be supported on poles, roofs, terraces,on external walls or on grills outside window and in balconies. The mounting chosen should be rigid and structurally sound as well as safe.High wind can topple even the smallest dish.

If you are using 2.4m dish needs a minimum of seven bags of concrete as an anchor. In this check that the top of the slab is level as this will be crucial to the dish is aiming.Allow the concrete to harden for at least 48 hours before dish mounting.

Answer : Yes , FTA channels are chnnels that provide you This opertunity(view Without pay for owner). But you have to remeber that there is deferent between the pay channels and fta channels.

Acording to wikipedia FTA mean,

"Free-to-air (FTA) describes television (TV) and radio services broadcast in clear (unencrypted) form, allowing any person with the appropriate receiving equipment to receive the signal and view or listen to the content without requiring a subscription (or other ongoing cost) or one-off fee (e.g. Pay-per-view). In the traditional sense, this is carried on terrestrial radio signals and received with an antenna."

A Free to Air Satellite receiver (abbreviated FTA receivers) refers to satellite receivers that are designed to receive unencrypted FTA satellite transmissions. Using these satellite receivers, one can legally receive TV signals without subscription. In some places around the world,The channels transmitted through Free to Air satellite are received by utilizing a common MPEG-2 video compatible satellite receiver. Many people use FTA to receive thousands of satellite TV channels free of charge.

The equipment needed for you to enjoy the freebies are an FTA receiver and a satellite dish within the specifics required by the satellite one wishes to point at. However, many satellites only require a standard DTV compliant dish that can be easily found in any satellite TV or electronic store. Both C-band and K-Band dishes work just fine. But ku band dish are not expencive than c band and small in size,

I think Ku band dish is most profitable and easy to mount. But If you choose Ku band dish the problem is famous channels are only available in the America and England region. So if you live in Asia and you choose ku-band dish for fta receiving you will not received good channels other than channels provide by DD-dth.Therefore if you live in Asia You will have to choose C band dish for 300+ free channels.(But if you chose ku band You can get 55 tamil and hindi channels from ku-band dish from insat).Good Luck!!!!!!

I post a link bellow that I found from Google search. It will help you to find a list of free channels that you can receive from your region.

Surveying the site is the First step Before the installation.Serving the site mean find out a Proper place Where the dish should locate.
This involves find in a position with a clear view of the satellite.During the Site survey you should consider the following points.

A dish Must have a clear line of sight view because any obstruction absorbs or reflects microwaves and subsequently lowest the amount of
signal received.Moisture in trees and large buildings are strong absorber of microwaves,so the line of the direction from satellite to dish must be clear from these barrier.

Will signal foliage cause problems?(This Is Usually not Happen for the countries in equatorial)

Check whether the area you chosen is eligible for dish installation.(Anchor into soil or mounting in to wall)

I Added some Picture From Google image result To show you how to select Proper Area.
