iPhone 4S Price Reduced by STC

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has dropped the price of the iPhone 4S. The new pre-paid prices according to an SMS the company sent are:

iPhone 4S 16GB 2499 SR
iPhone 4S 32GB 2899 SR
iPhone 4S 64GB 3249 SR

All iPhones sold by STC and Mobily are unlocked and has FaceTime disabled.

iOS 5.1 Released

Apple has released an update for iPads, iPhones and iPod touches. iOS 5.1 offers many features and fixes including:

Japanese language support for Siri (availability may be limited during initial rollout)
Photos can now be deleted from Photo Stream
Camera shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation)
Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces
Redesigned Camera app for iPad
Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match subscribers
Audio for TV shows and movies on iPad optimized to sound louder and clearer
Podcast controls for playback speed and a 30 second rewind for iPad
Updated AT&T network indicator
Addresses bugs affecting battery life
Fixes an issue that occasionally caused audio to drop for outgoing calls

Apple Announces New iPad: Retina Display, 4G LTE and more

The event of Apple, which awaited many Apple die hard fans has now come to end. Apples event was of 1 hour and 23 minutes. Focusing towards hardware, Apple today revealed the new iPad ‘The New iPad’, yeah I know Apples gone mad and the refreshed Apple TV which will support 1080p video. On the other hand Apple has revealed many new innovating, there own applications for the new iPad’s retina display fun such as iWord, iPhoto and more. Of course as we know that Adobe released Photoshop for iPad last week, Apple had to do something innovating.

The new iPad is the start of a new revolutionary tablet system but still lacks design and more. The new iPad supports the 4G LTE feature, it has the new 2048 x 1536 resolution Retina display, Voice dictation, A5X dual core chip, A5X GPU and the iSight. Lets follow all the features one by one

4G LTE: The new iPad will have a speed of 72 mega bytes per second for downloading, leaving up all the other tablet experience.

Retina Display: The innovating retina display which no other one did, it has 2048-by-1536 resolution which means an increase of 44 percent from the normal display to retina.

Voice Dictation: Not Siri, but yet you can use the new voice dictation to write up what you are saying.

A5X Chip: This chip is magnificent, a dual chore processor plus a boost to the graphics up to three times.

iSight: The all new camera, camera name. It has the 5 mega pixel sensor, with 5 deeply integrated lens.

The new iPad in the United States will be available from March 16th, though the pre ordering has started. The prices are

WiFi Model

16GB: $499 = SR 1872
32GB: $599 = SR 2246
64GB: $699 = SR 2621

WiFi + 4G Model

16GB: $629 = SR 2358
32GB: $729 = SR 2733
64GB: $829 = SR 3108

Apple TV (2012 Model)

Well the new Apple TV will be available from March 16th at the same old price and will support 1080p video.

On the other hand Apple revealed there own applications for the retina crunchy iPad. The GCC of course will get the fun of the new iPad a bit late but Apple has claimed that this time it will be there fastest roll-out ever, so stay tuned.

Mail More Photos [Cydia Tweak]

As you all know, iOS has an annoying limit of sending only 5 photos at a time from the Camera Roll using the built-in share via email option. Sure there are apps like ePhotos which allow users to attach up to 30 or so photos in an email or the alternate way of selecting a batch 5 photos at a time, copying and pasting them into mail. This adds an extra step in sending photos and takes more time.

Fortunately, for those who have jailbroken their iOS Device can rejoice and get rid of this limit if they are into sending a lot of photos. Mail More Photos, a Cydia tweak [available in the ModMyi.com Repo] that allows one to send a seemingly infinite amount of photos via email.

The developer of Mail More Photos has included an extra option that tells you the total size of all of the photo attachments prior to sending. That way, you have good idea how long it’ll take and how much data you’ll use.

Note: The Mail More Photos Cydia tweak does not add any icons to your SpringBoard (homescreen). It only modifies the Photos app and removes the limit.

The tweak costs $0.99.

Apple to hold iPad 3 Event Wednesday March 7

The Loop reported that Apple will hold a special media event next Wednesday March 7th at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Apple will most likely announce the iPad 3 during that event.

Everyone is expecting a more powerful iPad with a “retina display” and 4G. We’ll know next week. The event will be 9pm local Saudi Arabia time.

Security Flaw Allows Calls and More from Locked iPhones Running iOS 5

Tareq from iPhoneIslam demonstrated an interesting security flaw in iPhones running iOS 5. The flaw was discovered by Safwan Saba and it allows you to access the address book, make phone calls and possibly send emails and messages in a locked iPhone. A similar flaw existed in iOS 4.1 and this flaw is a bit tricky to implement. As demonstrated in the following video:

You need to make a missed a call on the target phone then try to eject and insert the SIM card while trying to call back, eventually the “Phone” app will be unlocked.
