It will be available at select branches of STC, Mobily, Zain, iStyle and Jarir.

Today Apple started selling the iPad mini 2 (with retina display) on their online stores.

Apple also started selling the iPad Air as well as the iPad mini in the United Arab Emirates Online Store (Thanks Sharbeen). These models obviously will not offer FaceTime. Estimated delivery for the iPad Air: 5-7 days, the iPad mini Retina Display: 5-10 days.

STC, Mobily and Zain all announced that they will start selling the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in Saudi Arabia at exactly midnight of Sunday 3rd of November.

Initial Pricing according to Mobily:

Apple has announced that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be available in 35 countries on October 25 and in 16 countries on November 1.

The countries are listed in Apple’s press release and it will be available in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and UAE on November 1, not the 4th as we reported yesterday.

Looks like the iPhone 5s (and iPhone 5c) has a launch date in Saudi Arabia and it’s the 4th of November according to this tweet by Faisal AlSaber, a VP at STC.

The date is also the first day of a new Hijri year (1st of Muharram 1435). STC, Mobily and Zain should all start selling the new iPhone on the same day.

Prices of the iPhone 5s are expected to be similar to the previous generation as expected with iPhones. LTE 4G support (Band 3 1800mhz) should be available obviously. FaceTime is disabled in iPhones dedicated to Saudi Arabia and UAE as usual.

STC has released a carrier update that finally enables the personal hotspot function on the iPad (third and fourth gen) and iPad mini. iPads with an STC data SIM had the personal hotspot feature disabled unlike Zain and Mobily.

Personal Hotspot enables you to share an Internet connection with other devices via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB.

Apple recently released iOS 6.1 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. One of the features of this update is enabling 4G LTE in many countries including Saudi Arabia.

Here is how to enable LTE on your device. Share your experience in the comments.

Supported Devices

You will need a device that supports LTE Band 3 (1800Mhz). The supported devices are:

• iPhone 5 with model A1429
• iPad mini with model A1455
• iPad with retina (iPad 4th gen) with model A1460

Zain

Send 4G as an SMS to 959 to enable 4G on both prepaid and billed SIM cards. Speed 4G data SIMs should work.

On iPhone: settings then general then cellular then set enable lte to on.

On iPad: settings then cellular data then set enable lte to on.

Mobily

You must go to Mobily and issue a new SIM card that supports 4G.

STC

STC hinted that their 1800Mhz LTE network will launch after 2 weeks. But for now you can “activate” LTE by sending 4466 to 902.
