Donald Trump has some unfortunate personality traits. Some of his followers have engaged in, essentially, demagoguery–e.g. promoting him among evangelical Christians with references to the pagan Cyrus (DJT’s religious standing was shaky, at best), and images of Jesus in the Oval Offices looking over Trump’s shoulder. Trump made dumb mistakes in office, such as relying on Anthony Fauci, promoting a dangerously under-evaluated vaccine technology, and implementing the catastrophic Covid lockdowns.

Trump, nevertheless, got things done, including the Abraham Accords, previously undreamed of peace treaties between Arab nations and Israel.

Trump is far less dangerous than the alternative–psychotic puppet-masters fronted by dementia-ridden or party drug-addled place holders, who have abrogated the Constitution and rule of law, abandoned allies, withheld assistance in disasters, and whatever else they have to do to remove the opposition and remain in power (As some have pointed out, “1984” is a warning, not a users’ manual).

“Less dangerous” is the best we can do in the current selection process for US Presidential candidates. It would be good to live in a real representative republic, but all those corrections would require a government of proverbial “honest men”.

Think things are bad now? In this Scripture, Jesus has returned, and rules with the martyred saints for 1000 years in perfect justice and peace. Even after this, when Satan is released, he is able to raise an innumerable army from the nations, bent on wiping God’s people–Israel of the Promise (Romans 9:6-9)–off the face of the Earth.

The outcome is inevitable. No power can overcome the One who spoke all of Creation into being. The price of this evil is unthinkable–eternal separation from the Creator, God.

Mars! We have to colonize it, as a home-away-from-home in case something happens to make Earth uninhabitable? People talk excitedly about being there first, even at the expense of making a one-way trip. People don’t seem to be thinking about this clearly.

I’ve been writing a little science fiction between job offers, so I’m not exactly a Luddite technology hater, but let’s (meaning anyone who sees this in spite of Twitter’s ban on Substack links) think about this for a minute.

Mars is dead, and deadly. Whereas Earth is larger, and probably has two cores keeping its protective magnetic field working, Mars’ core has long since cooled. Mars has no global magnetic field, and has been blasted by barely attenuated Solar wind for billions of years. It’s mostly CO2 atmosphere has been stripped to a density equivalent to Earth’s at about 100,000 feet.

Colonists, if they survive months of microgravity and radiation, and can still walk, and haven’t become mass murdering, psychopathic cannibals in the close confinement of the trip out, will have to live underground. Lava tube hotels? Hydroponic crops (potatoes?) in low light and only slightly mitigated ionizing radiation from the Sun? Think about supermax prison, with limited oxygen, and recycled food and water—millions of miles from home, with absolutely no hope of escape.

Some will get to go outside between Solar storms, and do a little science in the dead, blasted landscape. We’ve all seen the pictures—a geologist’s paradise, to be sure. Others will likely come to wish they had stayed at home, and taken their chances with climate change.

Dumping my Patreon account. Pointless. Literally zero readership. I would think I would get more exposure due to random chance. Just makes my stories “published” so some publishers won’t look at them.

Now that I think about it, my Substack account has about 4 subscribers. Now we learn that @elonmusk’s X deliberately prevents Substack accounts from reaching anyone, to prevent them from competing with X/Twitter’s products. Better things to do.

I concluded some time ago that our world is an asylum for the criminally insane, and I’m unlikely to be the only one.  It’s only getting worse.

What’s going on?  Why are governments, corporations, and organizations around the world determined to “normalize” depravities that would have been unthinkable only a few years ago?  Major businesses are willing to commit corporate suicide in an environment of rising consumer resentment for their advocacy of outright perversion.    

How do we fix this; find a way back to something like sanity, so that we can live?  We should start by admitting that we have a problem.

What faith or belief accurately describes the depraved human condition?  Which provides a working solution?

No feat of political consolidation or military might, logic, body position, or intensity of meditation is going to  solve this, because they’ve all been tried, and failed repeatedly and miserably. 

But by God’s grace and mercy, the solution has been given to us as a gift. 

The problem is that we have arrogantly rejected God, and rebelled against Him. 

Nothing summarizes the extent of human depravity like the murder of history’s only innocent man for telling the truth.  The people who did this lived and thought much as we do.  We just have better technology for killing people and destroying their lives. 

As foreshadowed by the serpent on the pole, Jesus lifted up in crucifixion is the indictment for our crimes, a graphic demonstration of the consequences, the announcement of our redemption by God’s mercy, and emblem of His forgiveness.  We just have to look up, and see.
