Woah, no posts for so long, then 2 in one day, maybe more...wait and see. I've decided to unload a few of my Gocco printers and some supplies. I'm doing some spring cleaning around the house and trying to destash. I bought these printers to be able to hold classes on Gocco, but the cost of supplies is too cost prohibitive for classes so they're up for grabs with more to be added soon.

Art Wall is Now Accepting Scholarship Submissions for the Gocco Studio

So, I've got some empty spots to fill up in the studio and I'll be accepting submissions on scholarship, which is a fancy way of saying it's free! Did you know that the studio was the jumping-off point for the entire Art Wall site? I wanted a nice way to showcase my favorite finds for Save Gocco-- a way to promote other artist's work using Gocco with no kick-backs or anything more than maybe simply a thank-you. For that reason, it feels only right to keep that room as simply promotional and gratis. So there you go, submit away. There's one condition, your work has to be Gocco'd and it has to be good, get it?

Amy Rice is one of my favorite artists, Gocco or not. I've featured her work before on SG here. Hailing out of Minnesota, her body of work has a very cohesive and specific look, feel and color palette. She uses found objects and ephemera in lieu of traditional canvas and paper, and she often includes Gocco in her process, as in the two pieces above. Amy doesn't have her own online shop, but some of her pieces are available for purchase through Artstream Gallery and ArtStar Gallery. She also has a slew of eye-candy in her flickr account. Enjoy!

They're so in luff. In real life, I'm scared of foxes but these guys make me a tad less fearful. How sweet. Ellen from the long thread enlisted the help of her 5-year-old daughter to help with these Gocco printed cotton curtains. The image was drawn (by said 5-y-o) with a carbon marker and white ink was used for a charming tone-on-tone effect. Darling.

So, you might recognize this name from the previous post. Maraid is Jane McDevitt. She's on my radar. I was "had"at "Skating Chimp" but then "Ampersand" sealed the deal. The ampersand is my absolute favorite bit of type, and I love the pretty lace and swell color combo. This gal's going places. She has an Etsy shop featuring this and other sweet Gocco prints. Recycled Gocco Bulb Ornaments

Marlene Watson of Northwoods Studios offered me this image of her recycled Gocco bulbs. She creates these adorable Christmas and Easter ornaments in crafty classes she instructs. When I learned to Gocco, the teacher showed us how to crush the still-warm bulbs in bare hands. If you think that's scary, I've heard another printer claim to crunch them in his teeth, yikes! What do you do with your spent lamps?

I've seen Schmuttergold's cards here and there on Flickr and Etsy and they always make me chuckle. Their motto is: "Good Jewish Design." Along with their spunky-sayings, they also offer beautiful typography hand-lettered and illustrated designs in their website and Etsy shop. This spin me round card is offered at $3.50. Mazel tov!

I have to give kudos to Anna Cote of Modern Printed Matter for using her Gocco to print a calendar this year. The high price and low availability of Gocco supplies would have deterred most folks. I gotta tell you though, after looking at the images she picked to print, it looks like Anna will have approximately 12 sweet masters to work with from here on out, so all is not lost. Beautiful work, Anna.

So, this is the 100th post, which I actually did not realize until I opened up my account to write about a giveaway of 100- 1 dollar bills. Swear. So, without further adeu...I was looking through the flickr Gocco pool recently and came across these printed dollar bills. They were created to mark the launch of Keith Scharwath's new blog. He is giving away 100 Gocco'd one-dollar bills to his readers. Now, I need to preface this by saying I'm not sure that this is even LEGAL but it's definitely clever. Whaaat, already? Have you noticed that Save Gocco home page is now being changed once per week instead of once every 6 weeks? I'm the biggest critic of stale web pages so I've decided not to continue to bug myself and take the time to change it every week. Likey? This image comes from Leigh Wells. Intriguing, no? I suppose it's one of those things that means different things to different people. To me it seems to imply being "grounded," but only partially. Partially grounded and partially up in the air. Pretty much how I feel most of the time. What does it say to you?

Guess what? Paperday Studio is ME. Besides blatantly promoting myself, I wanted to show what is in my opinion the best feature of Print Gocco: application variety. Besides paper, you can print on: napkins, wood, glassine, fabric, and.....Polaroids. Did I leave out anything? This run was upcycled from a stack of lemon film. I made lemonade, freshly squeezed with my Gocco.

What a gift! Naomi Duckworth of "Eleventy" has written a wonderfully thorough comparison article of Gocco, Yudu, and traditional silkscreening methods. In her words: "I'll start with some background about traditional screen printing, the Gocco, and the Yudu. Then I'll dive into a detailed explanation of how the methods differ, followed by a comparison chart summarizing the differences. I'll end with a final analysis of the pros and cons of each method, and recommendations for who might choose which one. " Holy crap, does she know that there's no grading on blog posts? If I were the teacher, I'd give this one an A+ for sure.

I haven't featured an invitation in a while...and there are soooooo many super-duper Gocco'd invitations out there to choose from, but this one really caught my eye recently. If you've ever been to South Carolina, you know that this Live Oak tree is the quintessential icon for an S.C. wedding. The illustration is perfect. I love how the leaves/moss are made to look almost like lace. Swallowfield did the drawing and Sarah Parrott did the typesetting and printing. A perfect creative collaboration. I wish I were invited, those Carolinians really know how to party.
