the past

you again

2012-09-17T06:17:00.000+08:00

is it possible to be so excited over a city you cant seem to fall asleep? its 6.05am and im wide awake. my thoughts are filled with melbourne, melbourne and melbourne. the streets, the food, the cafe, the people, the air, things i can do, memories, things i have done, moments that have happened, and moments waiting to happen when i'm gonna be there next month.

it has been 2 years and a little more, and i'm finally returning, to my favourite city in the world. melbourne is always buried deep inside me, i dont wanna look at it because it hurts that i cannot be there, but when i know i can finally unearth it, i get so excited it makes me excited i can be so excited over something.

i wanna just live like a normal person in the city. i wanna go to the gym, i wanna go for paul and rachel's classes, i wanna buy a take away sushi from sushi sushi and munch away walking. i wanna drink as many cups of coffee as my stomach and wallet can afford, i wanna just have a moment, a movie moment in the perfect city in my little universe.

i wanna eat my favourite thai food at ying thai and have a fredo ice cream after, even though i think fredo is overrated. i wanna walk past my old home on orr street and remember the many cold nights i walk home in my gym shorts hoping one day i will be skinny and life will change for me.

i wanna go to the casino half drunk and make some money, i wanna go to hungry jacks and eat a 3am meal. i wanna take a bite in golden gay time, my favourite ice cream from 7-11. i wanna text qing yi tomorrow to entice her to follow me back to melbourne.

i cant wait to go back to my favourite city, because because, because its a part of me i left behind and can't wait to revisit.

hello beach!

i love walking along the beach, pretty ones especially. back home our water is kinda gross and the sand too (except for the fake ones which we import). i must have spent an hour or two, walking from one end to the other. did the same thing in gold coast except i did it for 2 days haha.

count on me, Singapore (1986)

2011-08-09T18:06:00.000+08:00

happy birthday Singapore! its so nice, to wake up early on national day, drive down the empty streets and go to work. anyway i also had the chance to take a double decker bus this morning and it feels so nice! reminds me of when i was a kid taking 74 home after school sometimes. various national day songs were playing in my head and i felt like i was in a scene of some national day video. thats the nice part, most of these videos are of ordinary people doing ordinary things that makes us Singaporeans. the weather today is really nice too! i walked from river valley to tiong bahru and it was bearable haha. had brunch with my secondary school friends and came home to wash my car. i think all Singaporeans love national day, its a holiday, we get to wear red, there's fireworks and deep down inside, no matter how much we complain about whatsoever, we know that we appreciate this little dot that we all call home.

up in the sky!

finding

2011-04-24T19:46:00.000+08:00

the usual suspect

very melb lights

we went to the plain, a cafe in chinatown that is inspired by the cafes in Melbourne. i can see the influences, from the lights to the cups and some other details. i heard the owner was in Melb for 10 years, but i left the cafe feeling its indeed a little plain.

if you ever come back

tucked away in a street off lygon, this is apparently the real deal for pizza. sibling cafe of carlton espresso, this place is usually full house during dinner time. pizza wasn't fantastic for me but qq's a big fan. took home most of it for supper :p ;p
