Part of the problem was that the friend that Lee had working on the site that had given me access to it had removed my account. I guess he didn’t like the fact that I was changing the site from what he originally had planned. I still have some work to do on it but I have been able to add a 1941 Chevy Pickup page and completely change the Hanger Queen page as well as rebuild the Car Show Pictures page. Also updated the Recent Activities page with what I had done to the site.

I did talk to Lee today and he is in the process of documenting the work being done to a few of the cars their so I plan on getting those together and starting a blog on this site and his about the car and the process of building it.

Hard part about the last two weeks has been the administrative work necessary to get the password reset on Google Sites for Lee. What a pain in the butt!!!

Today was the first day I had where I could actually update his site adding pages and fixing long ugly pictures. So far the money making end of things has been pretty slow, I will update that blog tomorrow along with a few other things on the site. I also need to update my plugins blog with the use of the “curl” plug in that fixed my akismet error and was keeping the plugin from blocking the spam comments. If for any reason anyone posted a real comment to any of my blogs and I did not post them I apologize as I was receiving over 300 spam comments a day and had to manually delete them.

I’ll be adding more tomorrow so if you are reading thanks for stopping by!!

Along with my new years resolution to work on my blog site and affiliate marketing business for 2 hours every day, I have to contend with work. My job as a wireless network engineer although time consuming is interesting to me! I know my wife and plenty of other folks find it pretty boring but I find it interesting and a challenge. Presently I’m configuring the routers and switches for the City of Great Falls Montana along with setting up testing for a 2.4GHz network that an oil company is going to use to connect and download well data. Both projects should result in a fair number of radio sales for our company and that should keep everyone happy while I put in my hours at work testing and building wireless networks, and on the side pursue my dream of becoming a successful blogger. I guess according to John Chow you need to be in it more for the daily posts than for the money you make off if your blog site. I guess that’s a good thing because I sure am not making any money off of this site at this point.

I figure as time goes by and I work at my different blogs on money making efforts, website work, Hot Rod posts, and of course my general blog that I’ll gain more content, and hopefully a few readers. At this point I’m not a big time blogger making hundreds of thousands of dollars like the big boys, I’m a working stiff living paycheck to paycheck, and putting in the time on my blog and when money allows pay for some advertising and see if I can up the hit count on the site.

For now though it is back to work programming routes, switches, and radios so the City of Great Falls can monitor their traffic and start using video surveillance.

I’ll be back tomorrow with more!!

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last week or so updating this site and my other blogs. Pulled out product pages for products I no longer offer, and I have pulled ads from all the pages on this site as well as the others that are for the same products. I also backed up this site and upgraded all the plugins, wordpress version (to 3.6.1) and upgraded the theme to EvoLve 2.5. I replaced most of the ads with those for SFI and I plan on continuing to promote them and their free sign up.

I was back in Fairfax Virginia from the 24th to the 28th and had no internet access over Christmas so I wasn’t able to work on the site over the week. As soon as I was back in town on the 29th I got right back on it and worked again at the site changing out ads, editing and updating posts and getting ready to work at my site and affiliate marketing over the new year 2014.

I did a little social marketing for SFI and the new page I put up and those efforts are covered in my Money Making Efforts blog that you can access using the link on the right!

I have some plans for a few new articles that I am going to publish on ezinearticles.com and on squidoo.com so I’ll be posting links to those when they are done.

My new years resolution is to put in 2 hours everyday on my blog and advertising. Along with 10 hours every weekend. This effort is due to the fact that I am tired of living paycheck to paycheck and I want to see if consistent work at my blog sites will begin to produce some sort of income and overcome the non stop financial hardship that my life has been.

I’m looking forward to 2014 and the possibilities that my blog might offer!

<IMG SRC="http://www.sfimg.com/SFIBanners/banner407.jpg" border="0"/ >

Well like I promised I am back at blogging again and looking forward to 2014 and working steadily at my hobby of blogging and writing and see if I can actually replace my paycheck and become a successful affiliate marketer and blogger.

I am sick and tired of seeing video after video of how much money someone is making off of their blog and product sales and when they tell you they are going to show you how, they never do, unless you are willing to get up off a credit card number. Well I’m not a top earner anywhere, and I am not a remotely popular site, but I promise you, whatever I am doing to try and earn money at Saving Dave dot com, I will record in this blog in as much detail as possible, so that you can follow it for FREE!!

As always dedicated to my for FREE attitude I still have not paid much for this site a few domain name registration fees with Go Daddy (only because the sponsor Danica Patrick in NASCAR), and not much else to speak of. Recently, I found a new/old Multi Level/Affiliate Marketing site that is absolutly FREE to sign up with. Yup, FREE, FREE training, FREE Market place of products to support…..FREE!

<IMG SRC="http://www.sfimg.com/SFIBanners/banner429.jpg" border="0"/ >

I found it while surfing and posting in the forums on frihost.com I ran across a link for a company SFI. This site offers leveraged and residual income. Leveraged income from affiliates you sponsor into the program, but also residual from their efforts and some of the products that they offer in their market place Tripleclicks which has thousands of products to chose from. They also offer FREE training, giving you a to do list with tasks that earn you points from completing tasks involved with training and promoting your site.

Their training page on marketing SFI is typical for multi level marketing in that it asks you to promote to friends and family. Something I swore I would never do with any of my opportunities. Honestly I believe I’ll have better luck with internet marketing to strangers before I market to my friends and family.

So far my marketing efforts involved getting an ad up on backpages and craigslist, both of which produced absolutely no response. I didn’t even get one email address for my marketing list.

Their training does say that you should start building an email list, and I agree, my future plans involve Aweber and email marketing, and I was at least hoping classified ads would give me a start to an email address list. DOOH, no go, I’ll let you know how that proceeds.

I did resurrect my blogs at blogspot and at WordPress.com and added a page and a post about SFI and Tripleclicks. Which have link backs to the ad page on this site under the Aaffiliates section. So I have been doing a little advanced marketing only because I have these sites already in place and these host providers have never taken them down.

Along with getting your own blog loaded on a free hosting service like frihost.com I suggest going to blogspot.com and signing up for your free blog, or if you have a gmail account go ahead ans start one, and use it to mirror ads on your main site to help drive up your search engine ranking.

I have done quite a bit of work updating this blog by upgrading wordpress to the latest version and updating my plugins.

I still plan on rewriting the FREE Website Instructions section with better pictures, and going through this site and my other blogs and dumping all the out dated disconnected ads and replacing them with SFI and Tripleclicks ads. However these things don’t have anything to do with driving traffic to the site.

I have joined a website for FREE that can help with additional traffic. I’ll blog about efforts with that in future blogs, and I plan on posting links to this blog and my ad pages on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and any other social media sites I join and see if I can revive some traffic to this site and begin to see some sales.

They say the mark of a good affiliate marketing site is having a niche to market in and become an authority. I’m hoping that in these pages I can diary my efforts and see if I can actually achieve success doing this, and leave a trail that readers can follow.

<IMG SRC="http://www.sfimg.com/SFIBanners/Banner132.gif" border="0"/ >

Well it has been years since my last blog on this website. Been through a lot in the past two and a half years. Changed jobs and now I am a wireless network engineer for Intuicom Inc. in Boulder Colorado. Lost the house in a Bankruptcy and short sale and moved to lovely Niwot Colorado. Got married to the love of my life Helen and now we are trying to make our life together.

I’m back working on ways to earn money off of my website and affiliate marketing. I’ve been reviewing numerous offers to see if there is anything new on the web on how to make money on line. So far this year we have tried the “taking surveys” route to earn money. If you’ve ever seen the ads on how you can make four to five hundred dollars a week taking surveys on line and if you ever thought about working at it, my advice is don’t waste your time. Helen signed up for 12 survey sites and worked 6 to 8 hours a day taking surveys trying to build up points or cash, after 2 months of extensive effort she managed to make about $50 cash and quite a bit of points, none of which can be cashed in for any money. So again another scam to waste peoples time. Plus none of the surveys were about anything that actually mattered, they were all about gaining sales leads for products and really didn’t offer any substance to the surveys.

Lately here I’m back at clickbank looking at promoting products again and seeing if there is a way to make money on line without spending any. Problem for me now is that I am not even 1 year into a chapter 7 bankruptcy and have no available credit or income to spend on any offers.

The other thing I have to scream about in my blog is the videos on the web on how to make huge cash with some entrepreneurs money making system…….honestly if I have to sit through another 45 minutes of listening to some guy tell me how rich he is, how successful he is, and how he has the secret to earning millions on line – I’m gonna puke and die. It is asinine listening to some rich guy droning on and on about how great his system is, showing you screen shots of how much his clickbank, clicksure or empower network account is earning, and never telling you anything about what the actual system is, or how it works, telling you IT’S FREE, only to end the video and be asked for a credit card number and an upfront charge.

Seriously quit wasting my time, here is my attitude. Nice cars, nice houses, and screen shots of big bucks in accounts means nothing to me, I could care less, and no matter how much money you have you gain non of my respect unless you can show me how you did it and let me reproduce your results. I’m a nuts and bolts kind of guy and what you have is meaningless to me, what you did is what counts. AND if you can’t actually show it to me and hold true to your word that it is free than you lose all respect from me!!

I still say that if any of these systems actually worked these guys would be giving it away for free and asking that you sign up under their links so they can build extra income off of your efforts. I look at it this way, if the opportunity were real these guys could make millions in residual pay off of partners that sign up under them and follow their steps to success. Making thousands per month off of hundreds of successful partners I THINK, would be so much better than making a few hundred dollars scamming people with systems that don’t work getting a one time payment and having most people cancel when they get frustrated and meet with failure.

If they have to charge for the system than it probably is not real, and is a waste of time that in the end will cost you and earn you nothing.

I still offer a challenge to any so called internet blogging guru that if they can show me how to earn 20K in one month and it actually happens, I will pay them half of it for their effort.

I don’t want to see a portal asking for money for some “Great System” I want to see the system, get it to work, and then we can talk about payment.

So far only one person has offered to help, but everything he directs me to has a sign up fee with a monthly payment, no doubt good services like aweber, safe swaps and such. But again I have to lay out money I don’t have, to try and earn money.

I’ll start posting on things I try and let you know if I have any success with any of them, but for now, I’m just another wanna be blogger working a regular job and trying to earn a little money on the side on the World Wide Web.

One can argue that this is not an original Vette, and while that may be true, it is one good looking car that looks like it would be a lot of fun to drive.

It was a beautiful Colorado day and other than the brown cloud the sky was blue and clear. As I drove up to through the neighborhood to NCAR parking lot located on the top of the Table Mesa, I couldn’t help but notice how the air cleared the closer I got the the foot hills. I took some pictures that I want to share today as well as write about the peaceful short hike I took, and that I got a little time to meditate in the great out doors, even though my quiet time was interrupted by some hikers.

Ever since my little buddy Jasper, a 7 lb. poodle that was my best friend ever for the last 13 years, died, I haven’t been out much. I used to love to grab him, get in the car and holding him on my shoulder with his nose out the window we would take off for the foot hills and one of the many trails, and go for a hike. He used to amaze me at how tough and hard charging he was for only 7 lbs. and he had no problem with the trails until he got older and his knees started to give out.

It was good to get out, it’s been over a year, and I need to do it more often. Now that I’m unemployed it may be one of the few things to do that I can afford. So enjoy my pictures of the Table Mesa and the Flat Irons in Boulder Colorado.

Well I lost the whole weekend dealing with my side bar code issue. I learned a few lessons so I’ll add those in today for all of you. First off backing up your wordpress site is not done with FileZilla and simply downloading the files to your hard drive. As I found out the hard way the Theme is stored in the SQL database not in the files. So if you make any changes to the Theme, you won’t be able to recover your site before the changes if all you have is the files on your hard drive. OOPS!

I made the mistake of adding a picture to the header of my theme. Which I didn’t like, and it was too big, so I wanted to remove it. The theme I have EvoLve did not allow removal unless I hit a reset button (in the picture above). This reset the entire appearance of the site, AHHH!! I figured that nothing had changed on the appearance except for me adding in my RSS feed, myspace, facebook, and twitter links on the “Subscribe Settings” tab of the “EvoLve Settings” page my wordpress “Dashboard” (picture below) now has. I had changed to font to Ariel for default, and changed the header color to dark. So I thought I can hit the “Reset Button” and get rid of the picture, add the information back into it, and change the font and header color, and be back to normal, right?

Wrong! No way, it did get rid of the picture, but for some reason it changed the sidebar width so that the ads no longer fit into the display boxes. I tried to restore it and found out I couldn’t with files I had, so I was stuck with fixing what I had.

I searched on forums, posted on wordpress.org forums, and finally went to the creators website and asked for help. Gave him my login details and he logged in and fixed it.

He added this code into the Custom CSS field on the “Styles” tab in the “EvoLve Settings” page:

.widget_execphp .widget-content .execphpwidget {
position:relative;left:-18px;text-align:center;width:320px;
} (picture above circled in red)

This centered the ads. I changed a few little details of my ad code, and backed up my site the correct way. Which I’ll post on in my next post.

Built by Zoomers Automotive in Denver Colorado, with Lee Bumgardner directing the build, and Travis Kling preforming all the hard work necessary to bring this project to life. This car started out as a bone stock restored 1951 Ford Sedan with an original flat head V8 engine.

Billy’s first car was a 1951 Ford, and wanting another car just like his first ride, he bought the car back in 2002 from an owner in Kentucky. Eventually he grew tired of driving it, with the drum brakes, original steering, suspension, and original engine, which left a lot to be desired, as the car was under powered coupled with poor handling and stopping power.

When it came time to redo his vintage car, Billy brought it to Zoomers, and Billy, Lee, and Travis teamed up with other shops in the industry to build one sweet ride.

The details of this car are that the frame and drive line were replaced with an Art Morrison built chassis and suspension complete with Ride Tech air ride suspension, including a four link rear, and independent front suspension. Power train was upgraded to a Ron Zeller built 1957-model 392-cubic-inch hemi engine with a Holley 750-cfm double-pumper carburetor dyno-tuned to the engine for maximum performance. Transmission is a Tremec TKO-600 6-speed manual, and the differential is a Ford 9-inch fitted with 4.11 gears, giving the black Ford the best of both worlds with plenty of power off the line, and over drive for the highway. Climate controls are achieved with a Vintage Air unit fitted under the dash, with the only modification to the dashboard being the Vintage Air controls neatly inserted into the drivers left side, the vents are beautifully hidden, leading all but the most discerning eye, to believe that the dash has been untouched. Included in the long list of upgrades to the Ford are a set of Halibrand wheels (16×7 and 17×8) shod in Goodyear rubber (215/70R16 and 255/50R17), a set of four Wilwood 11-inch vented rotors with six piston calipers providing the stopping power to all four wheels.

The body was left untouched on the exterior, yet the floor pan, firewall, and rear inner fender wells required extensive modification to fit the frame, engine, transmission, and tires, allowing the car to be lowered to the ground at car shows, but giving a superb ride on the road. Once the sheet metal modifications were complete, the car was sent to Color Works to be painted by Jeff Showalter and crew. Back from paint the detail work began as final assembly got underway with Lee and Travis using a number of services provided by other shops to give the sedan it’s original look. Upholstery was done by Autoweave of Denver with Lee picking the Lizard skin and vinyl fabrics, along with the correct thickness thread giving the Ford a factory original look. Seats although left original were fitted with power controls. Steering wheel was sent to Quality Restorations in Poway California and sized down by three inches, and attached to a Vintage Series Flaming River column keeping in line with the factory original appearance of the car. Hurst shifter was modified as well so that it would work with the bench seat as well as offer a subdued appearance.

Details and photos on the build can be found at Zoomers website as well as Saving Dave Dot Com’s Auto pages.

Learning how to ad the code into your Executable PHP Widget for advertisement display is fairly easy. I had to search on the web and experiment with the code to get the look that I wanted in my side bar, and it’s not quite perfect, but it works for now, and as I complete tutorials on wpbeginners, and affiliorama my building and coding skills will too. Remember to always run a back up with FileZilla BEFORE you play with code, building your site. This way, if you mess up, you can always delete all the wordpress files and folders, and upload the backup version and be back to where you were before you started messing with your site.

Getting on with it, to produce the simple single ad 250×250 pixel display like you see in the above image on the right, all you need to do with you Executable PHP Widget is place the your code snip it into the widget box (pictured on the left where is says “Ad Code Here”). From your widgets screen drag and drop a PHP Code bar over to your side bar menu like I covered in my last Plugins post. Click on the down arrow on the right of the bar you just added and it will expand into a window seen on the left. Type in the title for your Side bar, in the line below “Title:”. Below that your ad code and then edit the code so that it is in between the HTML tags

.

Example:
whole bunch of ad code with img src= and other gobble de gook
replace the red text with your ad code.

Click the save button at the bottom of the window and your ad should be displaying in your side bar.

Next ad display that I’ll cover is the four, six, and multiple ads that you see on folks websites (picture to the right), where their side bar contains a nice symmetric 125×125 pixel ads neatly placed in double columns within the side bar menu. I don’t know how others have accomplished this, but I’ll tell you what I found that gave me my side bar ad display.

As in the description above you drag and drop your “PHP Code:” widget over to the side bar menu. Type in your titles and build the following HTML into the widget code box.

Example:

<td style=”width: 50%;”>
1st 125×125 ad Code Here

2nd125x125 ad code here

3rd 125×125 ad code here

4th 125×125 ad code here

A little explanation of the code above is that that the
tag defines the start of the paragraph, the
tag centers the paragraph in the PHP field, and the
tag defines the table to be built with the ad code. The
tag defines the row, and at the beginning you need to define the table cell as 50% of the width of the table with the
tag, after the cells are defined as 50% of the width, it is no longer necessary to define the width, additional cells are added with the simple
tag . Within each cell the code is centered with the

tags. HTML has to have each tag closed, thus each cell
has to be closed with
and each row has to be started with
and closed with
. The above example will give you a 4×4 ad display with four 125×125 pixel ads placed with in the ad block on your side bar. Additional rows can be added by simply adding an additional set of code. Example:

5th 125×125 ad code

6th 125×125 ad code

Within the
tags you are adding additional rows and defining the cells for that row, so each row has two cells, with the ads centered in each cell.

Another tip is to edit and build the code in note pad first, then simply copy and paste the text from note pad into the widget box. WARNING-Notepad tends to ad page breaks into the code, so once pasted into the widget these will have to be edited out. The editor can be a little tricky as there may appear to be a page break, but when you try and delete it, the cursor jumps to the next line down and deletes the first letter from that line, so be careful, observing the cursor when editing in the widget, and ad in any letters or numbers it deletes accidentally.

Don’t be afraid if things get to crazy to just delete the PHP Code: widget from the side bar menu on the widgets page, ad in a new, and start all over. Also save your code in your notepad documents.

That should pretty much do it for today, so good luck with your side bar widget.
