It has been awhile since I first started this site. I guess I was overwhelmed with all that I have discovered online… So many things to learn, so many things to be aware of, so many things to choose from, so many blogs to uncover… The list is endless. This bewildered homemaker soon realized it takes a lot of hard work to be a homemaker and savvy, at the same time…

Then I realized, this website is all about my journey. My journey to be the Savvy Homemaker. Thus I shall persevere and will do my best to lay it all here, in my own way…

Trying to do all these while trying to complete my daily routine chores at the same time can be overwhelming too. There are times when I feel like losing control over what I needed to do & what I wanted to do… Thus, whatever support & advice I get from family, friends and online search goes a long way. One of the great one is this FlyLady.net website that a good friend has recommended. After doing housework for decades, you’d thought you know everything you need to know. So I found myself pleasantly surprised when I discover there are still a few useful tips to be uncovered and learnt…

FLY stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The site was set up by this wonderful lady Marla Cilley, who is a SHE’ (Sidetracked Home Executive) and she teaches people using this system through FlyLady.net. This amazing lady, with support from Kelly and a group of team, loves to teach and she does it for free. You can just register yourself at the site for free and you will receive encouraging and motivating emails from FlyLady. Personally I love the Beginner Baby Steps. Most of the steps are not something new for decades-aged-homemaker like me… but she makes it seemed more organized and more reasonable…

So let’s FLYing…

Greetings from Ruzie

Hello & welcome to Savvy Homemaker 2U. My name is Ruziha Osman a.k.a Ruzie and I am proud to say I am a homemaker all the way from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where the sun shines through out the year… Here is a place where I am trying not to be the day-to-day homemaker. Not that I hate being the day-to-day homemaker, mind you. I love building my love nest for my family. However, being a homemaker is not the highest paid position, if not at all… In the world that we’re living now, that is not a fantastic thing… Unless of course, if you’re a professional homemaker like Martha Stewart or if you’re married to a millionaire… But then again, even Martha has started from scratch…. and as for marrying a millionaire, I married a millionaire-to-be. So, we’re not there yet… Heehee!

Before a Fulltime Homemaker

I was not always a fulltime homemaker. I was working in the accounting line for more than a decade before I decided to devote my time for my then young family and become a fulltime homemaker. Thus becoming a homemaker was quite a task for me and it took a lot of adjustments in life….

Whilst I was working in the corporate world, I have missed most of the growing part of my eldest child’s life. Only a parent would understand how heartbreaking that could be. After I had my second child, I tried to build up multi-level marketing business, one after another, hoping it will work eventually and that I will get to leave my 9 to 5 job. Well, it’s more like 9am to 10pm job actually, especially during month end when we were closing accounts… But that never seems to materialize due to all sorts of reasons and rather than boring you with the details here, I’ll save it for some other time….

Then The Fulltime Homemaker

After I had my third child, both my husband and I decided that we can get by with his earnings alone and subsequently I left my career for good. Even though at that time I was already at managerial post, I never regretted the day I made that decision. I am so happy being able to take care of my family myself, day in, day out. However, everything comes with a price. Gone are the lavish spending during pay-day, because there is no more pay-day for me. What’s left are only for the basics and necessities. Treats will only be a once in awhile thing…. We are a happy family and get by fine, with no heavy debts so far, thanks to prudent financial measures… (which was not very easy, I would say…). However, who wouldn’t wish for a much better life for their own family… Who wouldn’t want to be able to provide better for the family…Who wouldn’t want to retire early and spend more time with the family, instead of having to work hard through out your life span… Who wouldn’t want to be able to go on holiday anywhere in the world, anytime you choose, with your whole family together…? This wish list can go on forever…

Yes, I agree life is not all about money but everything in life needs money. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just dish out the money from your pocket without a blink whenever anybody asks for it? Wouldn’t it be great if we can help those in need instead of just sympathising with their sufferings? Wouldn’t it be great if we ever fall sick, we can afford the best treatment available without having to burden anyone with the costs? More so if it is our loved ones that has fallen sick, wouldn’t it be great if we are able to arrange for the best treatment available without wasting time figuring how to cover the costs…? Now, wouldn’t that be wonderful?

Savvy Homemaker yet?

So I figure rather than just making wishful thinking I’d better be productive working from home. Many have started to work from home successfully. So, why not me? In my search to work from home, I discovered these online businesses being advertised on local newspapers. I am not computer-savvy nor am I an internet-savvy person. So when there were a few free seminars offering to teach from scratch how to do online business with zero capital and zero knowledge, I was so excited! However, the excitement didn’t last long… At the end of each seminar, they would ask for no less than a thousand US dollars to get the online business started for me. And every time, no matter how persuasive they were and how tempted I was, I had to decline because if I had that much of money to spend in the first place, I wouldn’t be there….

However all was not lost. From there I learnt the many possibilities of making money online. I just have to learn how and get the right one for me…. Or better still, the one available for me…

I am sure I am not unique in this predicament. We have heard this same old story over and over again… It is just a matter of what we decide to do about it… And I have decided to work from home and make money online, right here, right now…. I shall humbly share here my Shopping to Make Money on my journey to be the SAVVY HOMEMAKER and of course, no homemaker will be complete without her Shopping…..
