We're home!

I'm happy to report that we are now back home after a week at Mott's Children's Hospital. Brielle is doing well and recovering, although she is still pretty fussy. I guess she deserves to be fussy after what she's been through!

I'll try my best to get back to blogging the latest deals and freebies this week, in addition to getting my house back together and picking up our homeschooling! Never a dull moment here!

Thanks for sticking with me and checking in during my absence! I'm praying life gets back to "normal" now and doesn't throw us any more curve balls for awhile!

Update: Sorry to leave so suddenly without many details. Here's what has been going on in our family since last Tuesday.

As you may know, we welcomed our third little girl into the world a few weeks ago. Upon her birth and at her subsequent pediatric check ups, a slight heart murmur was detected. Every doctor and nurse who heard it reassured us that it was "probably nothing", but we should just have it checked out. We are fortunate to live within 30 minutes of Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, so we had an appointment on Tuesday to have it "checked out".

It turns out the heart murmur was caused by a partially collapsed aorta. Our poor baby's heart had been working so hard for her three weeks of life. So, we were shocked to be told that we wouldn't be leaving the hospital that day, but instead our daughter Brielle was to be admitted and would need heart surgery!

You can imagine the roller coaster we've been on since. The last few days have been a fog, out of which we are slowly coming. I can hardly believe I survived those initial days. I've never been so scared or sad before. Minutes seemed like hours and my tears just couldn't stop coming. Nothing pains a parent more than having a child who is hurting, much less a tiny infant. I prayed without ceasing.

Praise God, the surgery is over and it appears to have been successful. We are still back and forth at the hospital, relying on friends and family to help with our other two daughters. We should be home soon and hope to return to some kind of normalcy.

Thanks for bearing with me and the blog. As much as I miss sharing deals with you all, I am totally focusing on Brielle and trying to get some rest in between driving to and from the hospital, pumping, spending time with my other kiddos, and just getting through each day. I hope to be back with you all soon!

Mother's Day is Sunday and as a new mother for the 3rd time, I'm feeling especially blessed and loved this Mother's Day. I count my blessings daily and am so thankful to God for the healthy, beautiful girls He has given us.

I'm also feeling especially grateful for my wonderful, kind, patient, and loving Mother and Mother-in-Law. They have made such an influence in our lives and we are so fortunate to have them both living just a few miles from us! I'm so glad my kids have their Grandparents in their lives and get to see them weekly!

When we were in the hospital giving birth to Brielle two weeks ago, I was able to rest assured that my two older girls were well taken care with both Grandmas. And in the days since we've been home, they have been such a big help to us-- taking the girls out with them, babysitting during doctor's appointments, picking up things we've needed from the store, and just calling to check up on us.

This Mother's Day, Kohl's asked me to shop for my Mom and Mother-in-law in their store and find something special for them. We love Kohl's, so I knew I'd have no trouble picking out the perfect Mother's Day gifts for them!
