Is it scabies or flea bites?

I recently had a cat and she had fleas. When she ran away she left the fleas behind. The fleas bit me and my husband to death and now we have scars and scabs from scratching at the flea bites so much. But my husband's mother is convinced that we have scabies and that we shound see a doctor. But the scabs from the bites are only on our feet and lower legs. And I read that scabies affect most of the body, not one particular area of the body. How can I tell if it really is scabies, or just scabs from the flea bites? I really don't think we have scabies because its only me and my husband that have the bites. Our 10 month old daughter doesn't seem to be affected by it, and I read that scabies is spread from close contact. Please answer my question so that I can put mine and my husband's mother's mind at ease.

What is the best cure for scabbies?

Scabies is an infestation of the skin by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. Transmission of scabies is usually from person to person by direct contact. Itching is often severe and usually worse at night. There are no effective over the counter cures. The best medication is permethrin cream (Elimite), which is available by prescription. It kills the mites quickly, but sometimes the itching continues for days to weeks until the skin irritation/inflammation resolves. During this period, use cool water soaks, Calamine lotion, and antihistamines to soothe the skin. Because scabies is transmitted by close contact, all members of the family and close contacts should be treated at the same time to avoid cross contamination and reinfestation. For the same reasons, use hot water to wash all clothing, towels and bedding that you used before treatment.

most times i see blood after it bites but it is too small to see with the nakid eye

for the last three yrs. when my shepard gets mange i end up spending a small fortune trying to get rid of it.every freakin summer all summer i have to fight this crap. he is 12.last year i ended up just putting baby oil all over him it worked but was then told it was animal cruelty. i love this dog but i am tired of him suffering.

Scabies questions???!!! Help?

I'm really freaked out. I've read that scabies are mites that burrow through your skin and create a pimply red rash. They start in the folds and crevices in your body. I have had an itch in the fold between my very upper leg and vaginal area. It's been maybe half a week and I didn't look until now because I saw that I was bleeding a little bit. When I did look, it was a little flaky and red, (not just the bloody spot) and the spot's not very big at all. But it's big enough to see and scare the crap outta me. I have a boyfriend and I've only had one, (I'm 15) and we haven't had sex. The most that's ever happened between us is touching. But here's where I'm a little curious, scabies is like a primitive lice, right? It is only transferred by direct contact with the infected skin, so the only way I can think of is if we had sex (and we haven't), and when his pants are off, mine are on and they are always on, the only thing that has had direct contact with the infected area is my boyfriend's hand. And his hand isn't infected. Am I missing some information or am I just paranoid. I'm thinking that it's scabies or I irritated it too much by scratching a bug bite. (I have had a flee bite me down there before, It could have happened again…I'm trying to be optimistic! T_T) Please help, I'm really scared for myself and everyone I come in contact with at all!

From conversation I have had with a few scabies sufferers, some have found some help with a product called Kleen-Free.

According to the website, this is an enzyme based product that works to eat away at the protein that is found in the skin/shell of the scabies mite. It essentially is said to cause the mite to molt earlier than it should which causes it to die.

ok so i have been getting this really itchy skin a few week ago (and still getting it) and im not really sure if im going to get scabies or anything so anyway to prevent them from coming what shall i use?For how long?

How much neem oil should I add to my bath?

I'm putting neem oil in my bath for scabies. How much should I add?

I have a very large rash, which is scabies caught from a dog, on my hand. I can't afford to go to a doctor, and the free clinics in my area told me I had to go see a regular doctor because they didn't deal with skin conditions. Where would I be able to buy a cream or a soap to treat it? I can't get it online because I don't have a credit card or anyone who would let me use theirs.

Will Lyscol or bleach cure your scabies and rid your house and bedding of it too?

I'm pretty sure I've tried this once before and it worked but I can't remember which one I used lycol or bleach. My cat has some sort of mange we're taking her to a vet apt. on Friday but I'm all itchy. Mostly at night. but I don't have any red bumps just massively itchy. It's making me sick.I need a quick fix. I think I have scabies and I have recently gotton these brown spots on my skin from them.I'm going to the doctor this week so I can cure them as soon as possible. I just want to know if the brown spots on my leg I am getting from them will ever fade away once i am cured.

My mom has had scabies for 3 months now. She's done eveything!!! She's a clean person and has treated her home including dressers washed down with hot bleach water. She's treating her dogs several times a month. Basically shes exhausted every option in getting rid of them. Somehow she is getting reinfected or perhaps the treatments arent working. My friends dog has got fox mange how can she get rid of it?

she lives next to fields so there are a lot of foxes in there she would like to try and clear it up herself as its to expensive to go to vets

Wow….The information out there (that includes doctors) telling people what to expect after scabies treatment is totally all over the place.

Some say your should not see any new bumps 2-3 days after treatment…then some say you will be seeing new bumps for as long as it takes for the scabies to completely leave your body (i.e. the dead scabies are causing a reaction)

As I have treated myself for scabies and have been seeing new bumps….small, sporadic and not very itchy at all I am wondering if it is just a reaction to the dead scabies or new activity by live mites?

I have had Scabies for almost 3 months now. It took the doctors two months to even figure out what it was, and I have done two treatments of the Elimite as of now. My children have also been through the treatments. I have cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more. I vacuume twice a day (and empty and clean the container after each time). I even have a steam vac and i am pretty much cleaning mmy carpets and couch once a week (any more then that then I risk ruining the carpets). when I first was diagnosed I went and purchased new sheets (rubber and plain whit sheets) for all the beds. I steam cleaned my bed and I wiped my kids' bed down with bleach. I then put the rubber sheets on and white sheets on. So now every morning I strip all the beds and clean them and wash the sheets. ALL of the clothes and blankets and towels in my house have been cleaned and bagged up (the mites can not live with out a host for more then 4 days). I just have a few outfits we use and wash after each use.

My roommates have scabies, how can I tell if I have them or not?

My roommates boyfriends originally had scabies and they had it for a month and didn't know about it. They are also constantly in here and now at least one of my roommates has it. Finally after a week of knowing they had scabies, cleaned all of their stuff, but that doesn't mean its completely gone. How can I tell if my other roommates and I have scabies.

my b/f belives he has scabies but has no insurance is their an over the counter cream he can use he is using purell it helps the itching but he is getting realy dry from it.

My Labrador is one & half years old.He is quite healthy until he started showing symptoms of scabies.The vet is treating him but it keeps appearing again .There are scabs but no itching could this be something else if yes what and how can it be treated.He is being treated with inj Ivermectin ,wokazole application and Amitraz.
