Kitchen Fabric - and new plans!

The fabric for our kitchen window just arrived today, and it's fun, fresh and GREEN!

This fabric is from a new collection by British Sanderson, and I have to admit that it's totally reminding me of Josef Frank (an old "Swedish" hero).

We're going to have roman blinds made (like below), and I think they'll really complement the rest of the decor.

We'll also be expanding the kitchen this spring to build a banquette (seating) much like the image below, but with a U-shape. We'll be filling it with loads of colorful fabrics, and a fun geometric patterned cover. (haven't decided which one yet)

The Office Moodboard

I'm working on the SS12 issue of our inspiration magazine, base, and this is my current mood board. (which I've been working on forever. Our new coordinator came in like a breath of fresh air (she started this Monday), and cleaned up my office AND fixed the mood board. Nedless to say, she's brilliant! And I'm SUPER happy!! ;))

I've been lusting after a Kitchen Aid since like forever, and yesterday, Plummie arrived!

Can't wait to put her to good use, and the first project is most likely going to be some OTT cupcakes with some serious amounts of frosting (just the way I like it ;))

Color of the Year 2012 for the Norwegian Market, is...

Green!

Six nuances to be precise.

Last week we launched Color of the Year for the Norwegian market in Fargerike.

The event was divided in three parts, were we first introduced these six nuances:

Stram Militær FR1112

Army green is hot like never before..

Kelly FR1150

It's young, it's fresh and it's perfect for color blocking and punches of color

Smaragdgrønn FR1151

Emerald green - glamorous, elegant and fabulous

Pæresorbet FR1118

Imagine the green in the bottle of the old glass coca cola bottles. This is that color. Perfect, dreamy and neutral.

Jadeite FR1149

Perfect for both glamorous and rustic interiors, a light green with elements of blue. To DIE for paired with gold.

Krystall FR2030

A French green, a true neutral, almost like beige. Except is's green. Very easy to work with.

We paired up with the fabulous Kristin Hellberg from the renowned French trend agency Nelly Rodi to present the main trends for 2012 - green was present in all of them.

LOVED her shoes - D'Squard and not for whimps ;)

In the installations we did a Norwegian interpretation of the global trends:

Trend 1: Barbarchaics

key words: raw, natural, pure

Trend 2: Essentualists

keywords: Scandinavian, simple, quality

Trend 3: Worldists

keywords: world citizen, energetic, eclectic, social

Trend 4: The Glamazones

Key words: Futuristic, amazing, feminine, dynamic, experimental

Glitter All Around Me...

So the Heimtex fair, is more about seeing what the wallpaper, textiles and area rug producers are making for the coming season (and not so much about trends).

However, there is one thing that REALLY stood out in the wallpaper category, and that was glitter.

Having always been a HUGE fan of everything sparkling, I was on a mission to find the producer of the wallpaper on the image below. And I DID!

The glitter wallpaper came in all types and variations, but THIS was the mother of glitter. Have you seen anything like it? I know I'm head over heels, and would have LOVED to do a version of this in our guest bath!

A Knitted Wall

We just launched this wallpaper at Fargerike, and it's designed by our local color- and design experts especially for the Norwegian market. The design team were inspired by the nature, things rustic, Norwegian traditions and, obviously, knitting!

The design comes in a very limited edition.

The colors comes from one of our color charts, called Nuances of Grey.

Great DIY Project!

This 3D wallpaper from an installation by Swedish Deisgn Front Group is nothing less than pure perfection, and actually a super easy look to achieve.

All you need, is to buy a bunch of fake flowers (IKEA has some great ones), and bring out the dreaded washi tape ;)

Would you try this at home??

Christmas at the Scandinavian Chic Casa (aka Our House!)

Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I have to admit, I prefer theholiday to be traditional and colorful. With nuances of red, gold and green. The new Hummingbird wallpaper in the living/dining room, is perfect for this and actually all other seasons. The color palette is so rich, and it's easy to extract the colors you want.

Our sofa is a big lounge sofa, it fits the whole family plus a LOT more (which is good, since we often have visitors). My love for nuances of red, pink and orange combined with purple is veeery visible. The small red painting is made by my 3,5 year old daughter. :)

The bookshelf has it's own "santa section" with a combination of a Russian matryoshka Santa, some home made ones, and a metal pair that our kids love.

Our tree is the traditional Norwegian spruce (gran) which I'm deeply attached to (no plastic in this house!).

(PS! We got drapes!! (not looking too good in this photo, totally forgot about them before I took the pic :))

Some of my favorite ornaments. The orange glitter ball is actually made of plastic, but it's still one of my absolute faves. The golden acorns (nøttene) were bought from THIS etsy shop and is another favorite. The monkey in the background was bought in Poland.

Flags is another must, and they remind me of my great grandmothers Christmas tree. The white "snow ball" is from Milla Boutique.

Vintage disco balls are also a total MUST and also something my great grandmother used to have on her tree. These ones are vintage, and from ebay.

I HAD to add this last photo. It's my first year of actually baking, and I decorated the gingerbread hearts. So not perfect, and this was actually the best one! LOL!

Anyways, I still hope your Christmas turned out exactly the way you wished for.

Loveable Tangerine Tango!

The pinkish/orangeish/reddish color, more populary reffered to as Tangerine Tango in 2012, is most definitely an important color in the coming year. It's a brighter and more intense version of my old favorite, Coral, and not surprisingly, I love this one as well :)

I'll be doing some posts about this color in the coming weeks, and in the end of January, I'll be revealing what color Fargerike is predicting to be color of the year for the Norwegian market.

This room would have been perfect if it had a chic color on the walls (as in not white).

Tangerine Tango can be seen on the ottoman and cushions.

Chic or Shit: Washi Tape AND Hot Pink

I know some of you have missed the Chic or Shit series, and I just realized that I haven't done one in ages! Today's trend is HUGE here in Scandinavia, but it's also present in the rest of our continent as well as in the US and Australia.

Everyone and their mother seems to be washi taping things to their walls these days.. And if you're über trendy, you go for the HOT PINK version...

Inspiration for a Bedroom Makeover

My friend Carina, just moved into her new home, and it's going to be AMAZING!!

While my style is definitely more colorful than hers, she has such a glamorous and chic style that I can't help but feeling inspired when I look at the plans she has for her home.

Nothing is really finished, but the unfinished pics are VERY promising! (I know it's going to be just perfect ;))

Her style is Scandinavian, but with a very clear influence from Hollywood Regency and ethnic decors, especially from Morocco.

Wallpaper Giveaway!

I love this wallpaper. Very Svenskt Tenn, isn't it?

We used it for a styling in base, were the super sweet Irina did all of the creative work and the actual styling, after winning the NIB challenge.

It's designed by Swedish designer Hanna Werning, for Borås Tapeter.

Over at the Fargerike blog, we're giving away 4 rolls + matching cushions in velvet + the same pattern as the wallpaper.

Today, I stopped by Christine Hærra's home for a cup of tea, and to discuss an upcoming project. If you don't already know Christine, she's probably the most talented stylist in Norway, with an eclectic and colorful style. She's incredibly good with colors.

Her home is filled to the rim with amazing flea market finds, interesting color combinations and a big dose of humor.

And I'm jealous.

Because it's SO perfect!

I could move right in and not change a thing!
