2018 New Year's Resolutions that you can actually KEEP!

NEW YEAR, WHO'S THIS?

New Year's Day was my mom's favorite day to declare that she was going to have a better year when I grew up, and now its my annual ritual. So many people are using the word "GOAL" instead of resolution but its the same damn thing. We all want to do better, be better and feel better so I made a video all about it, HERE. Are you pro or anti New Year Tradition?

WEIGHT LOSS

I have spent most of my adult life struggling to get myself to the gym and it wasn't for me. I tried every kind of workout and I could never stick with it. I kind of just like to wake up and figure it out as I go so taking walks to different points in the city with my dogs, or my son, works best for me. I had a gym membership for 2+ years and I only went maybe a total of 1 month of that time. It doesn't help that I have extreme anxiety so being in social settings hinders my ability to stick around.

PLAN

Time management is not my strength. I am late to everything but business meetings and church! Using a planner, making a list or setting reminders on my phone gets me everywhere relatively on time. Im the last to arrive and the first to leave...but hey! I show up and thats all that really counts right? I suggest going to TJMAX, ROSS, and Homegoods to pick up some cute and affordable notebooks, pads, and planners to keep you motivated!

TRAVEL

I plan a few trips a year for me, because to be honest Kris HATES to travel. I hope to break him in one of these days! We are going to Mexico this spring and I can not wait!! I booked through Expedia and they have a great deals! I also got a credit card through them so when I make every day purchases (gas, groceries, shopping) I earn points towards hotel stays! Also there is a payment plan with cruises! You make a deposit and pay what you can until a month before your trip! Where would you go if you had the choice? Jude wants to go to London, England.

POSITIVE THINKING

Mindfulness is something I encourage my son to tune into daily. As he gets older, I respect the things he enjoys and things he does not...with limits. Staying Positive is essential to living a healthy and productive life. Negativity is second nature when you have depression and anxiety so the struggle is real! In my video I mentioned the book THE FOUR AGREEMENTS has changed my life, and its one I read over and over. My favorite part is not taking what other do and say - personal. Im so sensitive and I take everything personal haha so it helps! Read it and thank me later!

This makeup sponge can be easily mistaken for the popular Beauty Blender without the hefty price tag. Im seriously sharing this with anyone who wears foundations. This Wonder Blender is black, but if you saw my video I also picked up 2 other colors.

2. AOA Studio Wonder Baked Highlighter "CUPCAKE" $1

This highlighter was shockingly powerful and so beautiful! I honestly would have paid more for this product after 1 swatch. The packaging reminds me of e.l.f. but the pigmentation reminds me of Laura Mercier. For that statement alone...what are you waiting for?

3. KARA Eyelashes #DW $1

If you are looking for light weight natural looking false lashes, these are perfect and affordable! I have never found $1 lashes that were 100% human hair. Most cheap lashes, under $5, are typically synthetic and stiff. These look just as good as my drugstore faves from Ardell.

4. Santèe Concealer & Foundation $1

I don't usually gravitate towards full cover foundations because I like a light natural look for my everyday makeup routine. As I tested these products I was pleasantly surprised at how well the foundation covered every imperfection on my face and still felt light weight! In my tutorial I was able to use it as a concealer as well!

5. AOA Studio Wonder Skin Perfecting Blur Primer $1

I was really scared about this one! I had to say a prayer my face wouldn't fall off! We are all creatures of habit and as a beauty youtuber we have to switch it up more than the average Jane...so I jumped right in! To my delight - I had no issues! There is a hidden shimmer that made no difference. Just a heads up! It also has a unique scent but nothing I could get passed.

MUSEUMS ARE COOLER THAN THEY USED TO BE

I took Jude out for another fun activity on day two of week two during winter break. Today we hit the road towards the beautiful city of Pasadena for Kidspace Children's Museum. The location was perfect, only about 25 mins from where we live so no excuses! Admission was a little high for what it is at $13 each, infants under a year are free.

My initial thought was this place is perfect for kids in kinder and younger. Jude's first opportunity to go was when he was in TK (Transitional Kindergarten) and he declined...yes, he declined, because he didn't want to walk around. Thankfully he's out of his lazy stage and was ready to make the best of our trip and explore!

When you first walk in there is a tunnel that leads you straight to the admission booths. In the tunnel we found tons of cool glass and electrical discs that reacted to your body temperature that stopped the static movement - aka super cool lights lol.

This week at Kidspace they are have SNOW PLAY

where the kids can make snowmen and have friendly snowball fights. Its man made snow so don't expect too much from it. I almost had Jude dress up in snow gear and I'm glad I did not. There we so many small children I was afraid Jude might play too rough so we skipped that activity.

There was a mud and clay table outside which was something no parent looked forward to haha.

My son is an only child who lives for social interaction with other children. As a toddler I was enrolled in at least 1 mommy and me class so he learned to play well with others. Its still a struggle because he's also the youngest in the family and thinks he's the boss. I am grateful for these opportunities to see his face light up with excitement.

As we moved around the grounds we discovered their ANT HOLE.

That was his favorite part (stay turned to my vlogs for that experience).

Cookie decorating could be skipped but since it was on our list of things to do, we were the test dummies. The cookie was stale and decorations were limited. ($3 each)

The child in me wanted so badly to run around with him in the Hawks Nest. This area came with a ton of costumes which made the experience as a bird that much more fun.

If you followed me from the start you know I felt uncomfortable about my son playing with guns. I felt like todays society normalizes violence and I didn't want to be a part of it - my son especially. Through my research and time spent with a therapist there was nothing odd, or alarming about his interest in weapons in general. Long story short - I eventually lifted the ban hahah and Jude was over the moon when he discovered this ball blaster. I wish there was an employee there to make sure each child had a limited amount of balls to shoot. I was behind a man with his two sons who used their shirts as baskets and held over 20 balls each *eye roll*.

Overall we had a nice day and I enjoyed watching my son enjoy himself and exercise being a nice human with a ton of wild children running amuck. Jude said he would like to return to Kidspace one day, but there are other age appropriate museums in the area I think I would prefer to visit instead.

HOW TO MAKE HIKING FUN FOR KIDS

HIKING WITH JUDE

This morning was the first day of the second week of Christmas break with Jude. He is like most 7 year olds who lose interest in anything that doesn't require batteries or an electrical outlet. In this house we call the devil many things...including "electronics".

I have been over eating with the rest of the world during the holidays so I wanted to get out and move this body of mine, and since Jude is not old enough to do much alone...he had to come with me!

In the past few years digestion has been a battle so after-dinner-walks are a must. To keep my little guy entertained and interested I used a small pocket notebook and created a small scavenger list. At the time he was too young to read so drawing pictures of common sites on our walk worked perfect. For example:

Jude is old enough to read and write so he loved the printable lists I found thanks to handy dandy Pinterest! Its cold this time of year so I made sure he was dressed appropriately, packed a bottle of water, pencil, and went to a local trail that was safe and kid friendly.

What are some ways you are keeping your kids busy this winter break? I have a week planned for my little guy and hope the weather stays nice so I can share them with you!

On our hike we surprisingly found everything BUT a pinecone and acorn! We looked for over and hour and nothing! We saw cool animal holes and even a snake "house" haha. Of course I was not going to stick around to say hello! *Runs away quickly with kid in arms*

HOW I SLOW DOWN DURING THE HOLIDAYS | SELF CARE + PAMPERING

WHEN THE GIFT GIVER GIVES TO HERSELF:

The holidays can be a little...well...VERY stressful! Packed malls and a long gift list can get a bit overwhelming so it’s important to take a step back and breathe. When I find a moment to myself, I go straight for spa treatments - at home! Shiseido masks, bubble baths, naps and catching up on my favorite REAL HOUSEWIVES shows are all on my personal agenda which is why I’m excited to partner with Shiseido on this post about how to #ShareBeauty with yourself this holiday season.

I know I am not the only one who enjoys a long PANDORA holiday music session while wrapping gifts. It might sound like a chore but it can be so enjoyable when you are not in a rush. Also I am a busy mom and I never have time to actually keep a nail appointment, so I keep my manicure together by doing my gels myself!

If you have never tried gel polish, it is worth the extra money. I did my research and checked online for coupons to make sure I was getting the best deal because these lamps are NOT cheap!

Stress can be seen on our faces so the next 3 Shiseido masks are a must-try!

Up first is the Shieseido Purifying Mask. This mask goes on like soft, rich mud and dries quickly. After about 10-20 mins (enough time to paint your nails) you can wash your face and you will see how soft and bright your skin looks after only one use!

Next, I used the Shiseido Benefiance Eye Masks. They are small strips that sit under your eyes. The active ingredient is retinol which will help smooth fine lines around your eyes.

Lastly, because I wanted to try all three in one sitting, I applied the Shiseido Firming Massage Mask to my forehead. This mask works to relax the pores as you massage in the product. It also clears skin and promotes less breakouts - YAY!

When the lower half of my face was dry to the touch (that’s where the mud mask was applied), it was time to rinse and pat dry.

My skin was glowing! It wasnt the beautiful lighting shinning off the tree - my face was brighter, softer, and so hydrated!

I have partnered with Ulta Beauty x Byrdie Beauty to walk you through a very iconic look

: The Smoky Eye - but with a bit of spice - just in time for Fall. I love when the weather starts to cool down and so do all of the makeup trends. Using too much black on these eyes can lead to a makeup nightmare - so I opted for a fall favorite that's warm and beautiful: chestnut bronze. Sticking with warm tones on the eyes is the easiest to blend, and will look fantastic with every skin tone.

I have posted beauty tutorials to YouTube for years and this look is the most requested! Smoky eyes look amazing on everyone - it is classic - perfect for so many occasions from red carpet events to a selfie with your girlfriends at happy hour!

You would be pleasantly surprised to find this look is so easy to recreate, so beginners this one is for you! One step at a time.

To start any look, you need a good eye shadow base. The Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow primer will not only make your shadows last longer, it will enhance the colors as well.

If you have been following me on YouTube you might have seen me use this next product many times. The Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Eye Shadow Crayon in Bad Bronze is the perfect brown shadow for any skin tone. This pencil is a creamy product so I like to apply it directly to my lids and blend in with a brush.

The Ulta Gel Eye liner in Black Out is so smooth going onto your skin, there will me no pulling or tugging around the eyes. I add this deep shade to my water line and smudge out with a pencil brush.

This versatile palette from Tarte Cosmetics is called IN BLOOM. It has every shade you would need for classic to bombshell looks all in one compact case. I love the mix of shimmer and mattes. Today I am topping off the cream shadow stick with "Rebel" to soften up the edges and create that smoky effect we are after.

To finish off the eyes, apply 2 coats of mascara and a pair of dramatic lashes. I also popped in a bit of glitter from NYX in the shade Copper for fun!

The Coral Experience

Travel Diary: Ensenada, Mexico

HOTEL CORAL & MARINA

I have been traveling so much in the past month and its been a blast! If you need to catch up - follow me on Instagram. I am not proud to admit that I have fallen off my fitness routine and ate like it my job for weeks haha. Luckily my last stop was a 4 Day Wellness Program in beautiful Ensenada, Mexico. If you are looking to kickstart a new healthy lifestyle - this program is perfect!

I read the news often and my family is from Mexico, so the first concern I had was safety. I can't stress enough how safe, confident and comfortable I was traveling into Mexico thanks to the shuttle service offered at the hotel. We went straight through the boarder, through the tolls without an issue or delay IN BOTH DIRECTIONS (in and out). I have so many horror stories of hotels NOT looking like they appeared online, Hotel Coral & Marina was the exact opposite! It looked like a private oasis located right on the Marina and it was beautiful! (BELOW) The deep terra-cotta colored structure stands out among the surrounding hotels.

I enjoyed the walk through and around the hotel which was full of beautiful art. This particular piece reminds me and when I nursed my son...TMI? Isn't it amazing what a woman's body is capable of?

When we checked into our suite, we went straight to the private patio connected to our room and soaked up the view. The property was clean, tropical, and welcoming.

We had the best gift waiting for us - food! We also received folders that included our schedules for the next few days starting with dinner. I am a foodie so I can't wait for you to see how beautiful the food was! My first outfit change was into a little black dress.

The food was prepared in the cleanest way possible. Nothing fried, oily, salty, but never lacking flavor. Although this is healthier than I eat on a normal basis...I left the table full and feeling amazing! I can't tell you how many times I felt like I needed to rent a forklift to get me out of a restaurant haha - this was not one of them! Each meal came with a few courses. Here are a few plates I had along the way - including a banana pudding and a popular Mexican cocktail:

Now that I have made you all hungry, lets talk about fitness! As part of the program we were provided with private classes like ocean front yoga, circuit training and new to my life: Feldenkrais. Hopefully this is an accurate description, but from my understanding, through the Feldenkrais Method you can increase your ease and range of motion, flexibility, and coordination. It is said to enhance functioning in other aspects of your life as well. I am a damn mess so Ill take all the help I can get haha. We took this class at the end of the day and it changed the way I slept - like I not one care in the world! The instructor, Logan Fisher, who also leads yoga for the program was knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable and excited about fitness. Didn't hurt he was good looking too ;)

There was a private conference room for health and wellness educational talks. This room also doubled as their Feldenkrais studio.

Our off site trip was to a local vineyard. We went on a morning hike to one of the largest Persian cucumber farms, wine tasting, and a beautiful breakfast followed by yoga right there in the vineyard. To be honest it was so hot and uncomfortable outside I didn't eat. I was a little disappointed there was only one wine to taste - I, like the next, love a good flight of wine and a cheese board when I go wine tasting. Also due to the others in our group being senior citizen who were not able to walk for long, we had to return to the hotel before we planed.

We ate, worked out, and it would not be a vacation without a little pampering! We were scheduled for facials, massages, and a hair treatment. The C Spa was beautiful, clean and very luxurious.

The massage I had was unforgettable. I have had many massages before but this one took the cake! I almost feel asleep! When it was over I was so sad, by far the massage was the best service out of the three. Next was a blowout. The products they used in the salon could have been better, also the guy who did my hair was so nervous (because he was new), was shaking and sprayed me in the face and in my ears with water haha. I am happy to report I was not wearing makeup.

I could have done without this service, but how cool did the dryer look?? I also received a facial which was out of my comfort zone. I am used to being told what products are going to be put on my face and she did not explain anything - that made me very uneasy. Aside from that little hiccup - the rash on my face cleared up! THANK YOU!

Since leaving the Hotel Coral & Marina's Wellness Program I am still eating clean, working out and incorporating a few Feldenkrais positions to help relieve minor body pains before sleeping! I would love to go back for the summer #coralexperience and to stay on track with my new lifestyle. Thank you so much for reading! Until my next post...

I was so excited about this collection for two reasons: Urban Decay...duh, and No Doubts front woman, Gwen Stefani...no duh! I have been a huge fan of her well before my makeup wearing years so this was too much fun for me. I have been really getting my Youtube groove back and the best way to recover from any tragedy is dive into something positive. The only negative thing about makeup is dropping a palette on the floor haha.

I swatched all of these lipsticks and matching lip pencils in my latest video, CLICK HERE, but decided to share some stills here. I loved that the collection has matte, satin, and high gloss finishes.

My favorite of the bunch...hands down is "714". As I shared on My Instagram, 714 is the area code for Anaheim Ca where Gwen is from! Firebird and Wonderland must be new references because I didn't get it haha...if you know leave it in the comments!

#MAKEUPMONDAY : L'OREAL PARIS TRUE MATCH LUMI CUSHION FOUNDATION REVIEW / DEMO

Hey Locas! I am back with another quick post to speak about the :

NEW L'Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation.

It took a few trips to find this little baby because they were either flying off the shelf or have yet to hit stores when I was on the hunt.

I am a sucker for packaging and I had to get it. Lucky for me I grabbed the right shade and its a True Match. Pun intended. Its light weight and felt like I was doing something good for my skin unlike most foundations.

This foundation came with an thin sponge applicator I was not too impressed with it at first look. But when I shut my thoughts down and gave it a chance - it was amazing. I tried the technique I found online and it didn't do that will in my video. I liked the swiping or dragging method better. As far as it being advertised as sheer to medium coverage - I could maybe see this being possible if you let the layers dry and you did pat. If you do not have problematic skin, one layer is enough and it looks beautiful.

The Easiest Dutch Braid Tutorial

I got so many questions about this braid style it only made sense to sit down and film it for ya!

I know its titled the "Kylie Jenner Inspired" braids but in my defense its only because she is hot in the press rocking them. I have been wearing these braids long before she was born and probably long after her lips deflate haha. If you are a fan of the reality star or not - these braids are easy and go with most outfits! This is my go to style when my hair needs to be washed and I don't have time to do much to it!

Latina Magazine Hotlist Event with Caress

I was invited to attend this year's Latina Magazine Hotlist Event in partnership with Caress.

I had the opportunity to spend the day getting Glam for this celebrity packed event!

My schedule started with hair and makeup services at the Alex Roldan Salon & Spa.

I asked for big hair and smokey eyes - and that is just what I got! I could not have been happier! In true blogger fashion I had to sneak in a shameless selfie under the dryer, haha!

Here is what my hair looked like after the rollers were removed and set with hair spray. Every time I get my hair done I learn a new way, or a new technique that I can take home with me and share with all of you!

Eye spy with my smokey eyes Living Mi Vida Loca's Patty photobombing me! She was another influencer hired by Caress to cover this event! I am convinced I have a lazy eyebrow...one is always sleeping and one is always saying hi!

I was stunned to learn that Caress booked us a room to change into, relax and enjoy amazing food before the event at The London Hotel West Hollywood.

After our fancy in room dining it was time to suit up and do any finishing touches before the red carpet began. Here I am posing for a quick instagram photo with my bff Carly. I have a long 15 year friendship with her and am so blessed to share this experience.

Funny story about my belt: When I went to Shop the Runway's boutique to see their pieces in person - I fell in love with the belt the owner showed me. Unfortunately it was broken and they would not get any more in stock for a few days. Good thing I am a beauty macgyver and bought the belt anyway! I was able to use pieces from an old necklace to make it work! Woot Woot!

The clock struck 6 and we took the elevator down to the red carpet set up out side of our hotel and home of the event. It excites me to see all of the reporters and photographers who lined up eager to snap pictures of our fave celebrities!

After we checked in as VIP, thanks to Caress we had the same bands as A-Listers, we entered the rose covered rooftop.

I was over the moon to see magic 8 balls - a ball you shake while asking it a question and it gives you answer. As a child, and till this day, I will not stop shaking it till the answer is what I wanted to see haha.

Before I ended my night, I stopped in the Caress lounge to take a peek at their new products and enjoy a hand massage!

In my video I shared my first impressions on these pressed beauties. I have been a fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills since I purchased their eye brow pencil. This brands products are in all makeup junkies' kits across the nation. One of my Australian followers left a comment that she could not buy them in her country - I hope they become an international brand soon!

Here are some close up stills from my video to show the different shades.

Personally I think So Hollywood is the best color for all skin tones. Peach Nectar is a must for blush lovers. Starlight is perfect for my milky sisters out there. Finally Riviera is fabulous on tan skin like mine!

Incase you would like to make neat lines like the ones below - I used tape! Serving blogger realness haha. I fell in love with blogs years ago and after a few new posts I am rediscovering why!

that I mentioned in my latest video, click here if you have not yet seen it. The products I have been loving can be at stores like ULTA that carry both department and drugstore brands. I have seen almost all of my favorite IG and YouTubers talk about Stilas foil shadows and I jumped up and bought two. They are beautiful BUT I found something cheaper!!

First up is STILA's Metals Foil Eye Shadow "Metallic Rose Quartz" USD $32

pros: AMAZING shine and color

cons: price, its heavy/thick and you need to add oil to it and mix before apply to your face.

And its sister from another mister...

Milani's Fierce Foil Eye Shine in #3 Florence USD 9.99

pros: price, 4 colors, and 1 step

cons: none!

Seeing these two side to side you can clearly see the Stila shadow is chunkier. obviously the color is off but the dupe is in the product. I think if I added the oil to the pot of stila I would end up with the Milani eyeshadow.

Aside from the fact that my hand is extremely dry lol, if the top one didnt the thick patches the consistence is spot on! I would save my money if I was you and go with the Milani palette. More colors, and extra money to buy something else! I hope this helped!

I am apart of L'Oreal Paris - Destination Beauty campaign and I got the assignment to make a video but with a special request: that it included my Sugar, Sean! He loves making videos with me and even took lead on directing the scenes he's in.

Going skiing has been something we love to do now. It took one trip to Tahoe to get us hooked on this cold sport. Before Sean you could not pay me enough to do anything that could possibly cause me bodily harm, haha. I am scared of getting hurt and not being able to work or support my son. Through love and my faith - I'm getting a lot more brave!

Motherhood: Challenges at School

I am pretty open about things that happen to me and things that effect me. My son is a beautiful blessing and I would never say I wish I could take him back for anything. He is the reason I am where I am, in this bed, in this room, in this house - I did all of this for him. BUT- It has been challenging being Jude's mommy. Most recently since starting school he has been in trouble and sent to the principles office more times than I can count for "fighting". He is a strong willed boy.

I have changed up my ways of discipline over the years. The way I was raised was how I started and it did not work. It only made me feel bad and made him feel scared of me. The same fear I had of my mother. Don't get it twisted - I love her and she's amazing - but my style is always evolving. I am currently using TIME OUT like he does at school so that is consistent and it works...for the most part.

So in the recent months he has become very physical at school with others. I don't care if its common - I don't want it to continue. I have been told "He's a boy, he's fine". If he came home hurt from another child at school I would raise hell. But he's the hell raiser and Im his mama - so its been a tough pill to swallow for sure. Anyone else have this problem?

I called my aunt who has her own battles raising a strong willed child and she gave me so much information and insight...it was comforting. Almost like she gave me a tight hug over the phone. I was so lucky to have her to turn to for this kind of support. I unfortunately am guilty of making faces or senseless comments about her parenting in the past because I didn't understand. Boy do I ever, now. He's not a total terror because he can be with others and not fight but the amount of times has been so high I decided to see if anyone else had this problem. This is not an open forum to tell me how to raise him - Im asking mother to mother if there are any of you who are dealing with this and how you are remedying this situation.

Like right in this moment. I am really digging the PRADA "Lace-Up" Oxfords. And when I am into something with a high price tag ($950) I have to really sleep on it! For like a year haha. Ok, maybe not that long. When I like something I am pretty stuck in my ways. I used to be super impulsive and buy things that I liked in my head but didnt really work in my closet.

I think I will wait to see more outfits on Pinterest and Polyvor with these guys before I pull the trigger. What are you lusting over? Are these ugly? Do you think I am smoking crack? lol.
