The establishment of a new Pontifical Council for the promotion of the New Evangelization in 2010 and the Synod scheduled later this year on “The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Faith” demonstrate that the New Evangelisation is a high priority for the Church. How are we to understand this move of the Holy Spirit? How can we become involved in the New Evangelisation in our own circumstances?

From Wednesday 11 to Friday 13 July those working in or visiting the Sydney CBD might be more than a little surprised to find a Capuchin serving them their afternoon coffee. That, of course, will be one of more than 40 Catholic stalls taking over Sydney’s Martin Place next week for the SCENE Vocations Expo.

The free event is a great opportunity to talk to exhibitors from all states of life within the Church, take in some live music, grab a bite, and maybe even discover where God is calling you.

We caught up with some people you might bump into at the expo to find out more:

– Fr Michael de Stoop, Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Sydney explains why the expo is a powerful opportunity for evangelisation

– 21 year-old Sarah Murphy describes her experience of past expos

– Sr Therese Mills MGL shares what her hopes are for the expo

– Bernard Toutounji from the Life, Marriage and Family Centre explains why a vocations expo is not just for those called to religious life
