      <title>Prayer Focus</title>
      <description>Heavenly Father,
We are so grateful for what you did for us through your son, Jesus Christ.  Through his death and resurrection, he purchased our salvation, set us free from the power of sin, and granted us citizenship in the kingdom of God.  This is what we celebrate at Easter and through the entire season of Lent.  God, as we approach Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent, may your Holy Spirit prepare our hearts.  Help us to face the reality of our own sin, our own mortality, and our deep need for a savior.  Help us to set aside the trivial pursuits of life that distract us from your kingdom, and help us to enter more fully into an intimate relationship with you.  Easter marks the most significant event in all of human history.  When Jesus rose from the dead, he not only proved he was indeed the messiah, but conquered death on our behalf.  Father, help us during this season of Lent to reflect with gratitude.  Help us to nurture our relationship with you and with others.  Finally, we pray that you would give us the boldness to reach out to our friends, family, and neighbors with this good news.  May our Easter services be full of people who can respond to your invitation to a new life.

      <description>Heavenly Father,
We thank you that you are a personal, intimate God.  Not only did you send your son to die for us, but you have given us your Holy Spirit to live in us and be with us every day.  You desire for us to know you, and to pursue you with everything we have.  Yet living in this world, with all its distractions and busyness, it is difficult to make you our first priority.  God, you have not called us to a comfortable life, where our goal is to make everything as pleasant as possible.  You have called us to a spiritual journey, where we learn to desire you above all else.  Help us to nurture our inner life, Lord.  Help us to open ourselves up to your Spirit’s leading, to dig deeper each day into your word, and to rest more and more in your presence.  You tell us that you will indeed complete the work that you have begun in us.  So that is what we pray for today.  Mold us, shape us, transform us into the people you want us to be.  And as a result, may our love overflow into the lives of others so that they can come to know you as well.  We love you, Lord, and we offer you our lives.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.</description>

      <description>Father, we pray for those being baptized next week.  In obedience to Christ and as a testimony of their faith, folks in our church body will take a significant step in their relationship with Jesus.  We pray that Your Spirit would stir the hearts of those You are calling to make this public proclamation of their faith.  Grant them courage, boldness and a desire to honor You.  For those who choose to take this step, we pray for spiritual protection, strength to follow You, joy in this new phase of their journey, and a deeper love for You and Your word.  We also pray for the family and friends who will be attending their baptism, that this will be a catalyst for spiritual growth in their lives as well. Amen</description>

      <description>Heavenly Father,
We thank you so much for the amazing work you did in the lives of our kids at Kids Kamp this week.  Over 300 children heard the good news of Jesus and how they can conquer any challenge through God’s power.  We ask you, God, to help them continue to live in that truth.  May the spiritual seed that was planted in each of them grow into a life of good fruit.  We ask that you would help their families to get connected with Jesus.  We ask you to empower their families to be a light in this community.  We also want to thank you for the 200 volunteers who gave of their time and talents in order to pour into the lives of kids.  May you reward their efforts, building new friendships and lasting bonds.  And thank you that we get to be a part of a church that celebrates the lives of our kids while serving them in tangible ways.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.</description>

      <description>Father we thank you for the privilege of partnering with local outreach agencies in our valley.  Today we specifically pray for our partners with Youth First who are here with us today.  Father, the volunteers at Youth First have devoted their lives to taking the message of your hope and love to at risk our youth and teens in our community by providing mentor programs, food programs, adventure trips, teen mom programs, leadership development and small group Bible Studies.  We ask that you would bless them with your love and the strength they need to continue in their work.  Encourage them, and affirm them in the value of their labor, and the glory that they bring you in sharing the light of your word.  Equip them with everything they need to effectively reach those to whom they minister.  Protect them from the evil one and bring blessing and joy to their families.

      <description>Heavenly father I thank you for everyone you brought here today. I ask Lord that our hearts and minds would be open to hear your truths.
I especially thank you for the fathers that choice to spend their morning here with us.
Lord, I ask that as fathers you would teach us to be patient and kind to our wife's, slow to anger and quick to encourage our children, and to bring your kingdom into the lives of those we come into contact with.

May you bless the fathers, and protect them
May you make your face to shine upon them, and be gracious to them

We pray for this mentoring program that it continues to promote academic excellence, life skills development, self-esteem, and personal growth. Lord I lift up the students to you that they would come to a relationship with you and their faith will be rooted in God's awesome love and that they would be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes only from You. Thank you for including us in your mission not because you need us, but because you love us.  Help us to grow in our love for the entire world.  God, we are grateful for SCF’s global partners, who carry your message into the farthest reaches in order to bring people to Christ.  It is a privilege to partner with these faithful servants, and we ask you to bless them as they follow your lead.  Give them the resources they need to accomplish the task.  Give them the strength, wisdom, and encouragement they need to keep pressing on through difficulty and challenge.  Give them divine interactions with people who desperately need your hope.   Lord You are holy You are set apart from us. Your ways are not our ways Your thoughts are not our thoughts and we give thanks, knowing that You have saved us from our evil ways. As we read, may your Holy Spirit give us wisdom and insight in applying it to our lives.  And ultimately we ask that you would transform us.  Let the words of your holy scriptures so penetrate our hearts that we increase our thankfulness, live out your kingdom principles, and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit each and every day.       <description>Lord as we come before you in prayer help us to keep our church, SCF, steadfast upon Jesus, our Messiah,  the Son of the Living God,  so that united we may proclaim the truth to those in our community.  The truth of salvation, of love, of forgiveness, of acceptance that can only come when we give our lives to Jesus Christ and proclaim Him as our Savior.  Help us Lord to show your goodness to our community. There are people in our community that might not be accepted elsewhere, let them know they are accepted here, there are those that might feel condemned because of their choices, let them know they are free to attend here. Help us Lord to make SCF a community of hope. With your guidance Lord we will follow your commandments and declare that Jesus is the one Lord, our Savior; who lives and reigns with you God the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

We also pray that you will protect them from the evil one, and that they will find joy and strength for their journey with you. We pray specifically that each of us can become aware of what it is that prevents us from having a content relationship with You and with others.       <description>Father as we prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I am once again reminded of your faithfulness to SCF.  We are so grateful for your provision for our church. In the midst of global economic uncertainty you continue to provide for the needs of SCF. Thank you Father for the folks that you have sent here that faithfully obey your call for generosity with their time, talents and treasures. Thank you for the ongoing transformation of lives that you let us be a part of on a regular basis.  We thank you that, because of your great love for us we are able to impact the people in our community through our weekly services, food pantry, Recovery and Support Groups, small groups and  Bible studies, pre marriage, Financial Peace University and our Trunk or Treat event where over 1600 people were in attendance.  Thank you that you enable us to spread hope both locally and globally. Thank you for the joy of building warm and comfortable homes for a family  in Ensenada.  But most of all Father, we thank you for the gift of your Son, and for the opportunity to be part of drawing others into Your kingdom. May you be honored and glorified in all that we do and say.       <description>Our Dear Heavenly Father;  I ask that your Holy Spirit fall freshly on us today, to melt us, mold us, fill us and use us.  I’m so grateful to be here to witness, and rejoice in, the baptism of our friends who are taking the next step as we journey together in Christ.    I thank you that they have come to the water to announce publicly their relationship with you.  I praise you that “when we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country.”  I pray that this day and this event will be a line in the sand for each participant, so that when things get tough and they feel that you aren’t with them or listening to them, they’ll remember their baptism today and your promise that we are sealed by your Spirit so that nothing in heaven or earth can take us away from you.  As we, who have already been baptized, witness this baptism, help us to remember our first love and create in us a clean heart that blazes with your glory so that together we can go out and bring others into a relationship with you by letting them know how much Jesus loves them. I sense a deep pulling -- a tug-of-war in my soul.  Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered—how fleeting my life is.  You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath. We pray today for those who made a decision to place their faith in your son Jesus. We pray for each of these young new believers that their hearts will become more mature in faith so that their love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that they may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God (Phil. 1:9-11).  We further pray that they will find a place here at SCF where they feel like they  belong; that they will learn about the gifts you have given them and use them to the best of their ability; that they will understand the importance or spending time with you reading their Bible in order to know You better, and to learn the power of prayer; that they will be able to resist the Satan and overcome sin when it arises in their lives, and that they will be bold in telling others about their new faith in Jesus, having courage to share their testimony. As we pray here in Sparks this morning, on the other side of the world in Western Africa, there is an Ebola epidemic of epic proportion.  It is raging out of control Father, and hundreds are dying.  It is at times like these Father we call upon your mercy, your wisdom and your grace.  We pray that you will provide comfort and healing for those afflicted, and wisdom and clarity for those desperately searching for ways to effectively fight this disease.  We pray for public cooperation as authorities struggle to put infection control measures into place.  And fill our hearts with compassion.       <description>Heavenly Father I am certain that it is not your desire for us to co-exist in a world with those who don’t know you.  You would, instead, have us live lives that draw others to you, for you passionately love all people.  And while our relationship with you is a very personal one, it is not a private one.  Our faith in your Son can never be private.  I ask that as we revisit our third core value, that we would indeed do anything short of sin to share the hope of Christ.   I pray that this value will be embedded in every area of our lives-work, school, home, leisure time- and that you would place urgency upon our hearts to build your kingdom.  Remind us Father that unless we tell them about you, souls in our own community will spend an eternity without you. Thank you Father for the folks that you have sent here that faithfully obey your call for generosity with their time, talents and treasures. Thank you for the ongoing transformation of lives that you let us be a part of on a regular basis.  We thank you that, because of your great love for us we are able to impact the people in our community through our weekly services, food pantry, Tuesday Night Support Groups, small groups and  Bible studies, pre marriage, Financial Peace University and our Trunk or Treat event where over 1600 people were in attendance.  Thank you that you enable us to spread hope both locally and globally.  Thank you for the joy of building warm and comfortable homes for two families in Ensenada.  But most of all Father, we thank you for the gift of your Son, and for the opportunity to be part of drawing others into Your kingdom. May you be honored and glorified in all that we do and say. We also want to take this time to lift up the victims of the Moore tornado in Oklahoma.  We realize there are there are 

natural disasters all around us--fire, floods, hurricanes and the like.  It is at times like this when we realize that 

the ground beneath our feet is not as solid as we had imagined, and we ask for your mercy.  Comfort those in the 

midst of disaster and what appears to be hopelessness ; be their rock and refuge and shelter them under your wings.  Fill our hearts with 

compassion.  Move us to act quickly, to give generously every day, to work for justice always, to pray unceasingly 

for those without hope.

Break the chains that hold people captive to these struggles, and allow them to experience your freedom.  Please work mightily through our Tuesday Night Support Groups, helping those involved to see the love and power of God in their lives.  Please give our facilitators wisdom and direction as they use their gifts to support others in their struggles.   We thank you for your grace and mercy, and for the hope of change.

It is such a senseless act and loss of precious life.  And yet it is a reminder to us that evil is real, that the enemy is real, and that the effects of sin continue to wreak havoc with our world.  It is a reminder of how deeply we need you, God.  We need you to move among us, comforting us and reminding us that you are in control.  So we humbly approach you and ask you to come alongside the families of those 26 victims of the shooting in Connecticut.  We ask you to bring comfort and peace and healing.  We need you, Jesus.  We need you to heal us of our sin and to comfort us in our pain. And Father we are people who because of our actions, thoughts and intent are truly as far removed from holiness as light is from darkness and we have no right nor do we deserve to have you hear our prayers. But You do so we repent and ask your forgiveness.

We are thankful that Your Son died for us and made us right with You. And our thankful hearts will never understand why You adopted us and love us as Your own children and then give to us all we need to live a life worthy of Your grace and goodness.

      <description>Heavenly Father, I praise and worship you because you are God.  I am honored to be your servant, and I take my stand today against the devil and his schemes against me, my family and my ministry.  Father, as I take up each piece of the armor, please secure it in place on me.

I take up the shield of faith and extend it over myself.  It extinguishes all the fiery darts of the evil one.

I put on the helmet of salvation, which protects my mind from the enemy's attacks.  I have the mind of Christ.
I put on the breastplate of righteousness, which covers my body with the righteousness of God.  In Christ, every foothold of evil has been washed away and I am clothed in righteousness!

I gird my loins with the belt of truth.  Your word, O God, is truth.  Father, sanctify me according to your word and remind me through the Holy Spirit of the truth that destroys the lies of sin.  

I shod my feet with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.  I have peace with God through the blood of Jesus.  I have favor with God and with man.  I walk in my inheritance as an adopted son of God and have authority over evil in Jesus' name.

I will use the Sword of the Spirit by speaking the Word of God as it applies to whatever situation I may face today.  Father, please remind me of your Word via the Holy Spirit.

I will continue to pray in the Spirit throughout the day, and intercede for all Christians as the Holy Spirit prompts me.  I believe that the Holy Spirit is interceding on my behalf according to my prayers.    

Thank you, Father, for the whole armor of God.  Please surround me with your hedge of protection as I move forward on the spiritual battlefield today.  I praise and worship you now and forever, Amen.&quot;</description>

God sightings; 3) to take inventory of our soul's true condition; and 4) to acknowledge the issues or concerns that surfaced as a result of spending time with God.
