New Zealand doctoral scholarship for Indonesian and international students

The New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships closes to applications on the 15th of July each year. Applications will be accepted from early April until 5pm (NZ time) on Tuesday the 15th of July 2008. NZIDRS applications received after the closing date and/or incomplete applications will not be considered by the selection panel under any circumstances.

New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships (NZIDRS) are open to all Indonesian and international students who meet the eligibility criteria, include:

Full tuition fees for three years of full-time doctoral study
NZ$20,500 per annum living allowance (NZ$1708.33 per month).
up to NZ$600 annual health insurance allowance
NZ$2000 (across 3 year tenure) travel allowance. This is intended to be used for conference attendance and field research
NZ$800 (across 3 year tenure) book and thesis allowance
NZ$500 one-off establishment allowance. Only to be paid to those students who are travelling to NZ specifically to take up the NZIDRS. No student already located in NZ is eligible to receive this amount.

Additional funds are not available to support accompanying dependants.

You need to show evidence that academic supervision is available when you apply for this scholarship. Applicants should contact the relevant university departments to confirm the availability of appropriate supervision before submitting their applications. The scholarships offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are awarded to younger university graduates (and in exceptions, also to advanced students) from all academic disciplines as well as from the fields of music, art, and performing arts. Funding is also available for young and early-stage researchers, university teachers and groups of students completing study visits under the guidance of a university teacher. This support is largely financed by the Federal Foreign Office from public funds made available to it.

The DAAD policy on awarding scholarships is as follows: the DAAD aims to fund and support foreign students, graduates, doctoral students, and young and early-stage researchers whose previous research and academic achievements place them at least in the top third of their age group and who can additionally be expected in the future to become key players and top performers in their career fields combined with an awareness for the social responsibility which this involves.

Funding is available for stays at state (public) or state-recognised universities and at non-university research institutes in Germany.

As a rule, the minimum age for applications is 18. China has a 50-year history of having foreign students studying in her universities and colleges. Therefore, the institutions have rich experiences of accommodating foreign students in China. Japanese Government's Monbusho Scholarship

The Monbusho (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship ( beasiswa monbusho ) is a prestigious scholarship offered by the Japanese Government. The Monbusho (Monbukagakusho) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME provides a perfect opportunity for people from a wide variety of backgrounds and talents.

Those wishing to apply for a scholarship should meet one of the criteria listed below:

Recommended by a Japanese embassy or consulate general (Embassy Recommendation).
Recommended by the Japanese university which will accept you (University Recommendation).
Selected by the Japanese university in which you are currently enrolled if you are a privately-financed student already studying in Japan (Domestic Selection).

Qualification needed to apply for monbusho scholarship:

Research students, must be under 35 years of age and a college graduate (includes prospective graduates). Or you must have completed 16 years of schooling.
Teacher training students, must be under 35 years of age and a graduate of a college or teacher training college. You must have at least five years of active experience as a teacher in a primary, secondary or teacher training college in your country. (Please note that college and university teachers currently in active service are not considered for this scholarship).
Undergraduate university students, must be at least 17 and under 22 years of age and have completed 12 years of school education or have completed courses in a school comparable to a high school (includes prospective graduates).
Japanese studies students, applicants must be from 18 to 30 years old. Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students in faculties or schools which major in Japanese language or Japanese culture in a university outside Japan at the time when they come to Japan and must be enrolled in the home institution at the time when they return to their home countries. Students majoring in the fields other than Japanese language or Japanese culture who wish to study various aspects of Japan( engineering, economy, agriculture, architecture, art, etc.)as part of their major studies should apply to the JASSO for admission to the Short-term Student Exchange Promotion Program.

There are three available recommendation for mobusho scholarship (beasiswa monbusho) those are:

1)Embassy recommendation

In this type of scholarship, scholarship recipients are recruited and initially screened by an Japanese embassy (or consulate general, depending on the country).

2)University recommendation

i)Research students and Japanese studies students who will be studying in Japan as an exchange student based on inter-university student exchange agreements can be screened through the national, public or private Japanese university involved as a candidate for a Japanese Government Scholarship. The university directly recommends the selected candidates to the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

ii)Research students recommended by a university for study in Japan as government-sponsored scholarship recipients basically arrive in Japan in October.

Japanese studies students basically arrive in Japan in October according to the university program. Universities recommend candidates to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology by mid-April.

3)Domestic Selection

i)Privately financed, full-time postgraduate foreign students, prospective postgraduate students, and full-time, prospective fourth-year undergraduate university students (prospective sixth-year students in the case of medical schools, etc.) are granted domestic selection scholarships that begin in April. Recruitment is conducted through national, public and private universities with the exception of junior colleges.

ii)Universities carefully screen academically and individually excellent students and recommend them by mid-December as government-sponsored scholarship candidates to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Undergraduate monbusho scholarship (beasiswa monbusho) :

This scholarship offers applicants the opportunity to spend up to 5 years at a Japanese college or university as an undergraduate degree student in one of 2 fields of study, those are :

(1) Social Sciences and Humanities

(2) Natural Sciences

Benefits:

* 135,000 yen per month for the period of the scholarship (see USD equivalent)

* transportation to and from Japan

* 25,000 yen arrival allowance (subject to change)

* school fees (i.e., entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition fees) will be waived

* accommodations in foreign student houses, residence halls for foreign students, or private boarding houses depending on the university

* partial subvention for medical expenses

Scholarship information (beasiswa) at Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore for Indonesian and Asian students

The Singapore Scholarship is tenable for the minimum period required to obtain the respective degrees at Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore or Singapore Management University. It covers full tuition fees and a living allowance of S$4,300 (covering meals, transport, textbooks and course materials during school semester) per academic year. In addition, a separate full accommodation allowance based on the room rates at each university or designated hostel will be provided during school semester.

One return economy class air ticket is provided for the Scholar’s passage from his/her home country to Singapore for the duration of studies determined by the Singapore Government. No additional assistance will be provided for other travel expenses.

A recipient of the Scholarship may not concurrently hold any other Scholarship, Fellowship, Grant or Award without the prior approval of the Singapore Government.

There is no bond imposed on the Scholarship by the Singapore Government. The Scholars are expected to return home to contribute to the development of their countries upon graduation.

The scholarship is open to applicants who have not gained admission and are currently not studying at the Singapore Universities.

The Singapore Government reserves the right to terminate the Scholarship if the Scholar’s academic progress is unsatisfactory or his conduct is in violation of the university's rules and regulations.

Citizens of ASEAN member countries (except Singapore) are eligible to apply for the Singapore Scholarship.

The Singapore Scholarship is a Government to Government Scholarship for students who are citizens of ASEAN member countries (except Singapore) and is for a full-time undergraduate study at the Singapore university (NUS, NTU or SMU).The Singapore Scholarship covers full tuition fees, living allowance of S$4,300 per annum and accommodation fee based on the room rates at each university during the school semester. One economy class air ticket from scholar's home country to Singapore at the commencement of their undergraduate course and one economy class air ticket from Singapore to their home country upon successful completion of their undergraduate course. No further financial assistance will be provided for other travel expenses as well as any additional expenses/fees incurred during the Overseas' Exchange Programme, Overseas' Attachments or Summer Courses taken up by the scholars with their respective universities.
Under the Singapore Scholarship, the Singapore Government will not impose any bond on the scholars. However, all scholars are expected to return home at the end of their studies in Singapore to contribute to the development of their country. This is different from other undergraduate scholarship schemes, where the graduating students would be obliged to work in Singapore for certain period of time to repay the tuition grant from the Singapore Government. In the case of the Singapore Scholarship, the Singapore Cooperation Programme is sponsoring by paying the full tuition fThe courses offered by the respective universities under the Singapore Scholarship are indicated in the Singapore Scholarship application form.
