Within the Space of two weeks, Addax paid virtually all beneficiaries of the Addax scholarship award scheme. Many of the awardees who did not receive their payment in the first batch were left in a state of confusion as many of them solely depend on the Addax bursary to continue their schooling. One instance is one student of University of Nigeria Nsukka, who called NUS Admin and pleaded the we notify the Addax company of some of them who had not received their noting that it was their only means of sustenance in school. NUS Admin while speak
ing with Addax undergraduate scholarship personnel learnt that the firm will not be conducting any scholarship award scheme for the 2015 academic year. But it promises to pay all of her old awardees.

Applicants must be computer literate.
Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO.
Applicants must not be above 30 years of age.

THE OVERSEES SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME (OSS)
Applicants for OSS must be in possession of the following:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (USA).
G.R.E (Graduate Record Examination) (USA).
GMAT – for Management related courses (USA).

PhD

Applicants must be in the academics in Nigerian Institutions, teaching an oil and gas related discipline.
Applicants must possess minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a good second degree certificate.
Applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, Introduction, Objective, Methodology and Mode of Data Collection.

2015/2016 Pressid Scholarship Award Form is out. The Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID) Implementation Committee now invites applications from qualified candidates for the 2015/2016 academic session (third edition) scholarship award of the scheme.

As part of efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 20:2020 and the Transformation Agenda, the Federal Government of Nigeria plans to develop a critical mass of professionals who would serve as catalysts of change and agents of scientific and technological advancement, as well as sustainable economic development.

This would be achieved through the sponsorship of outstanding students for postgraduate studies in the top 28 universities in the world. To this end, the Federal Government has instituted the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development.

Eligibility/Criteria for Application:

Interested candidates should be graduates from the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions, who would have completed their National Youth Service by October 2014.They must have obtained First Class Honours degree from any recognised and approved University in the following disciplines and aim at postgraduate degrees in the specified and allied disciplines:

1)Sciences: Nuclear Physics, Operations Research, Industrial Chemistry, Quantitative Genetics, etc;
2) Basic Medical Sciences: Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, etc;

Since you're planning to attend a school in the University of Texas System, you could be eligible for its free tuition program. Sound too good to be true? Read on.
In a bold initiative, the University of Texas System has announced plans to bridge the tuition gap for students who need it most. Specifically, seven of the nine Texas colleges (Arlington, Austin, El Paso, Pan American, Permian Basin, San Antonio, and Tyler) in the system have pledged free tuition and fees for Texas residents from families with an income level of $25,000 or below. Note: This is a substantially lower income threshold than what has been set by wealthier public and private colleges with similar programs.

The remaining two universities, Brownsville and Dallas, are still considering joining the initiative.
Once you complete the FAFSA and qualify for the program, the University of Texas has promised to provide state and university scholarship sources for any portion of tuition not covered by federal Pell Grants.
To ensure eligibility for the free tuition program, you must attend one of these Texas colleges full time and complete 30 credit hours each year. Most of the University of Texas schools also offer corresponding academic and social support programs, and require that you maintain a 2.0 minimum grade point average.

It is a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (with funding from DFID), and UK universities. MTN, which launched the initiative at White House Ikeja, wants youths to seize the opportunity. Its External Communication Manager, Mr Andrew Okeleke, said the initiative will help in discovering intelligent youths who can combine football and education at the tertiary level on scholarship.

Okeleke said the aim of the initiative is to help youths realise their dream of furthering their studies via scholarships while also playing professional football in universities in the United States of America.

He said MTN is already partnering with some universities in the US – with some of the institutions planning to send scout coaches to Nigeria to identify such talents.

To participate, potential contestants aged between 16 and 20 only need to send an SMS, stating their name age and location to 4000

Kelvin Orifa, MTN Youth Segment Manager, said the idea was to rekindle the hopes of many indigent youths, who thirst for a sound education and a worthy football career.
He said: “The project is for that young man who lives in Warri who plays football but does not also have access to get into the university because his parents don’t have the means. The programme is here to balance the Millennium Development Goals towards education and also foster the skills in our youths for football.

This scholarship exists, but a lot of people are not aware of that, and so with the MTN programme, you can access international scholarships.

Participants who, survive up to the knock out stages, will the write a mock exam while successful ones among them proceed to the academy where they will get intensive academic training for a month.

“We are also using sports as in business to sustain sports economy; and its contributions to the country. Sports economy is very bad in this country, and our youths should be informed about the opportunities that exist within sports so that they won’t all be engineers, doctors, lawyers,” he said.
