Rhodes Scholarships are offered for outstanding graduates holding at least a first class honours degree in Pure or Applied Sciences, Humanities, Law or Medicine of Indian Universities for five scholarships, for a course of study leading to a degree of the University of Oxford (UK).

Candidates in the final year of their degree courses with exceptional academic record may also apply. Candidates must demonstrate their continuing interest and achievement in extra curricular activities such as sports, theatre and community work. They must be below 25 years of age on October 1,2014.

These fellowships are designed for Indian faculty and researchers who are in the early stages of their research careers. The Postdoctoral Research Fellowships will provide opportunities to talented faculty and researchers to strengthen their research capacities.

These fellowships are for eight to twenty-four months.

Applications from all disciplines will be considered. Priority fields are: Agricultural Sciences; Economics; Education; Energy, Sustainable Development and Climate Change; Environment; International Relations; Management and Leadership Development; Media and Communications with focus on Public Service Broadcasting; Public Administration; Public Health; Science and Technology; Study of India with focus on contemporary issues; and Study of the United States. For Study of India or the Study of the United States (American Studies) the areas could include: language and literature, history, government, economics, society and culture, religion, and film studies.

Eligibility

• be a responsible Indian citizen who can contribute to a full and fair picture of the culture and civilization of India, and thereby help to promote understanding and friendship between the peoples of the United States of America and India;
• have a high level of academic/professional achievement;
• demonstrate proficiency in the English language to undertake the proposed project/program and adjust to life in the US. The applicant may be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL);
• be present in India at the time of submitting the application and interview, if required. If you will be abroad, please keep us informed.
• be eligible for leave, if employed;
• be in good health;
• not be residing in the United States;
• not be applying for or holding permanent residence (green card) in the United States;
• preference will be given to candidates who have not had extensive recent US experience; and
• should give an undertaking to return to India on the completion of the fellowship
• applicants should have a Ph.D. degree within the past four years. Applicants must have obtained their Ph.D. degrees between July 2009 and July 2013;
• applicants must be published in reputed journals and demonstrate evidence of superior academic and professional achievement;

Grant Benefits

These fellowships provide round-trip economy class air travel from India to the U.S., a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, a modest settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance. Subject to availability of funds, a dependent allowance and international travel may be provided for one accompanying dependent provided the dependent is with the grantee in the U.S for at least 80% of the grant period.

Grant Benefits

The fellowships provide a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, round-trip economy class air travel, applicable allowances and modest affiliation fees, if any. Selected scholars will have opportunities to audit non-degree courses, conduct research and gain practical work experience in suitable settings in the U.S. No allowances are provided for dependents. The grant is not sufficient to support family members.

Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships are designed for outstanding Indians to pursue a master’s degree program at selected U.S. colleges and universities in the areas of Arts and Culture Management including Heritage Conservation and Museum Studies; Environmental Science/ Studies; Higher Education Administration; Public Health; Urban and Regional Planning; and Women’s Studies/Gender Studies.

Ministry Of Culture Scholarships To Young Artistes In Different Cultural Fields For The Year 2012-13

Government of India, Ministry of Culture, invites applications for the Scheme for Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes in Different Cultural Fields to support advanced training, within India, to young artistes of outstanding promise in the fields of Indian Classical Music, Indian Classical Dances, Light Classical Music, Theatre, Visual Arts and Folk, Traditional and Indigenous Arts. Under this scheme, 400 Scholarships are awarded every year to young artistes who have already undergone a minimum of 5 years of training with their Guru/Institute.

UGC Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship 2013 for SC/ST to pursue M.Phil/ Ph.D

University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of 2000 fellowships for SC candidates and 667 fellowships for ST candidates for the year 2013-14 respectively under Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST to undertake advanced studies and research on full time basis leading to M.Phil/ Ph.D degree.

Eligibility:

The SC/ST Candidates who have passed the Post Graduate examination in concerned subject and who desire to pursue full-time research without JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET.

The selection will be made on the basis of merit of the candidates. The candidate must get him self/her self registered for M.Phil./Ph.D at the first available opportunity but not later than within a period of two years from the receipt of award letter. This period is not extendable. However, the actual payment of fellowship will be made with effect from the date of joining only.
