Qualifications:
(1) Self-supporting international students from countries specified by the foundation , who are/ will be enrolled in the regular Scholarship amount per month: 120,000 Yen (undergraduate students) 180,000 Yen (graduate students) – A grant for participating in academic conference will also be provided.
(2) With enough Japanese language ability for study/research.
(3) Enrollment period of the course currently enrolled in should be more than one year from October 2011 (However, this does not apply for those enrolled in the doctoral course).
(4) Parents should not be working in Japan.
(5) Not holding a doctorate degree.
(6) Interested in international understanding and friendship and able to participate in the foundation’s exchange activities.
(7) Not receiving any other scholarships.
However, students who are receiving a scholarship this academic year, but will not receive any after April 2012 are eligible to apply for April 2012 scholar.

Deadline for application: Submit all necessary documents to International Student Section by August 19, 2011 (Fri).
However, the first-year students who will be enrolled from October 2011 can apply until September 2, 2011 (Fri).
Applicants are expected to abide by the deadline and submit application on time.

Lloyd L Hosking Scholarship in Civil Engineering Undergraduate at University of Canterbury

This scholarship was established by a gift made by Lloyd Hosking as a tribute to his mother, Jean Hosking whose self denial had enabled him to complete his degree in the difficult years of the early thirties notwithstanding that she had been widowed when he was only nine. It is also in recognition of the benefits he derived in his career with Shell International from his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree awarded in 1935.

The scholarship will be tenable by a student currently enrolled for the final year of the B.E.(Hons) (Civil) degree at the University of Canterbury.

Applicants must hold a PhD in quantum chemistry or computational solid-state physics, preferably involving periodic band structure calculations.

The School of Science and Engineering at Reykjavík University is looking for candidates to lead the academic program within the Reykjavík Energy Graduate School of Sustainable Systems (REYST). We are looking for a person with an interest in and knowledge of sustainable energy systems. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in engineering or natural science. Industry experience is beneficial, but not essential.

The REYST program is a cooperative effort between Reykjavík University and Reykjavík Energy. It offers a program of graduate studies leading to a MS degree in sustainable energy science or a MS degree in sustainable energy engineering. The REYST program is based on a broad foundation where all students are required to take classes on energy technology, geoscience and energy economics before specializing further. The REYST program has strong industrial ties and emphasises professional rigour.

The secretary’s duty is to pro-actively support the Executive Board and handle the day-to-day management, for examples in relation to the following tasks:

Regular liaison with the ECIU Local Coordinators to build and support a strong information flow between institutions, and within institutions;
Monitoring the four Steering Committees that have been set up to oversee the ECIU’s core areas of activity: Education, HR Development, Knowledge Triangle, and EU Policy;
Monitoring ECIU projects and working groups; ensuring coordination across groups to harvest synergies and share relevant information across areas of activity;
Settling the day-to-day finances of the foundation;
Preparing the agenda and putting together reports and materials for Executive Board meetings, working out the minutes and following up on resolutions of the Executive Board;
Supporting strategic initiatives; in particular those initiatives where ECIU funding is given to buy out staff time at other ECIU institutions;
Liaising with the ECIU’s representative in Brussels to support the representative in developing an internal ECIU network for EU Liaison staff; to monitor work carried out and to support in prioritisation of work tasks when required.

The secretary is appointed under the responsibility of the Executive Board, and works together closely with speaker of the board.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in Life Sciences, preferably Veterinary Medicine with a strong background in gross and microscopic morphology.
