A logo is not your brand, nor is it your identity. Logo design, identity design and branding all have different roles, that together, form a perceived image for a business or product. To explore this market deeply, the Istituto Europeo di Design, in Milan, offers an opportunity to win a scholarship in Master in Brand Design that starts in November 2012, part of the competition We Like Talents.

This competition is open to international students. IED rewards to the creative talents of young people aged under 27 years old. If you have an undergraduate degree in design and graphic disciplines (graphic design, industrial design, architecture, fine arts) this is a great opportunity to update your career. In order to apply, the candidate must have a Degree (3 or 5 years) or 3 years Diplomas from university-level schools or consistent professional experience in the Master Course field. Final Year students are accepted as well provided that they get the degree within the end of the Master Course.

The program, which is in English , has the purpose to train a brand identity designer with a strong international culture by proposing an experimental brand-lab in partnership with leading Italian and international communications agencies.

The Master in Brand Design is organized into two parts. The first aims at establishing a cultural background on the brand, its meaning, its manifestations. Brand management and aesthetics will be the main topics. The second one involves the student in projects conducted in partnership with International consulting firms and Italian top ranked design studios.

The Master of Science program in Multimedia Signal Processing and Telecommunication Networks (Faculty of Engineering, University of Genoa, Italy) is offering scholarships for students, who possess a B.Sc. degree (or equivalent) and are interested in pursuing their studies in the ICT field.

The purpose of the program is to offer advanced education on the topics of signal, image, video, and multimedia processing, telecommunication systems, satellite systems, networking, telematics, antenna design, and applied electromagnetics. Expertise in both methodological-scientific bases and advanced design is thoroughly addressed to educate high-level ICT professionals in the framework of the Telecommunications Engineering disciplines.

Faculty members teaching in the program are actively involved in scientific and applied research projects funded by the European Union, the European Space Agency, the Italian Space Agency, and many other national and international institutions and private enterprises. Thanks to this ongoing research activity, the courses offered in the program are kept systematically up to date with the latest scientific and technological developments.

Graduates from the M.Sc. program can access professional opportunities in all companies needing ICT expertise for development, deployment, production, or management purposes. Moreover, the high-level scientific and technological background offered by the program allows graduates to pursue further their education in the ICT area, apply to doctoral and 2nd-level master positions, and be strong candidates in the related ranking procedures.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS), applicants must fit the following criteria:

Not be more than 45 years of age during application.
Obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at Bachelor Degree Level for Masters Degree applicants and for PhD candidates must possess CGPA 3.5/4.0 or very good result at Masters degree level in a similar field of intended PhD study. For the project LabeX LMH, the Jacques Hadamard Mathematics Foundation (FMJH) is offering one year scholarships for talented students applying for the master program in Mathematics for Life Sciences (Master2 MathSV) in one of its member institutions (the Departments in Applied Mathematics of the École polytechnique, École Normale Supérieure de Cachan, and Paris Sud University in Orsay). These scholarships are only for the second year of a Master degree program (M2).

The scholarships are open to all students who have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics (or related to mathematics) and who have or will have completed the first year of a Master or PhD program in a foreign or French academic institution during the academic year 2011-2012;

The stipend is 10,000 euros per year. Laureates won’t have to pay any tuition fees and will benefit from the French health insurance system (Sécurité Sociale).

For the foreign students: the FMJH will support travel expenses (one round-trip ticket, economy class from your residence). The FMJH will provide housing in students dormitories (the cost will be directly deduced from the scholarship). The FMJH will also provide french courses and assistance at the arrival in France.

PhD position available at the Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg, Germany (Institute of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences) starting June 2012 or later. The position is available for three years. Salary is according to the German public service 65 % of TV-L E 13.

As part of a project cluster dealing with analysis and modeling of environmental impacts induced by climate change (increased CO2, heat and drought stress), our project focuses on combined measurement and modeling of gas exchange at leaf and canopy scale in winter wheat.
Within the project cluster, we closely collaborate with three groups from other institutes in Germany.

Demands on the candidate:

SUSTAINABILITY COCKPIT: AN INTEGRATED TOOL FOR ASSESSMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF SUSTAINABILITY IN MANUFACTURING

Two APAI PhD scholarships are available to work on a recently commenced ARC Linkage Project (2012-204) in which the impact of decisions on Energy, Water, Carbon footprint on Australian Manufacturing will be examined. Manufacturing requires resources such as raw materials, water and energy to achieve the transformation process. Consumption of these resources is naturally highly dynamic depending of the state of the manufacturing system. A manufacturing plant consists of complex and dynamic systems of production machines and technical building services. The majority of the factories have been built in the past without giving much consideration to the manufacturing process taking place in the factory; hence they are highly inefficient in terms of water and energy consumption. This problem has been magnified recently due to the dramatic increase in the cost of energy and water, and the lack of understanding of the direct link between energy and water consumption and the associated environmental impact.

This project, in collaboration with the partner organisations ALCOA Rolled Products Pty, FIP Breaks Australia, PLP Preformed Line Products Australia, IFU Hamburg Germany and TU Braunschweig Germany, will involve investigation into the modelling of manufacturing systems and the analysis of the impact of decisions on Energy, Water and Carbon footprint of a business. The result of this analysis should be a modelling platform that allows for the analyses and improvement of manufacturing systems on the cost, lead time and environmental foot-print of the business. The proposed approach will lead to the development of a software solution to increase the efficiency of Manufacturing in Australia. The objective of PhD projects advertised will focus on the development of a Petri net-based process model which will then be linked to the companies’ value-stream map in order to evaluate the link between traditional business objectives such as cost, lead time, throughput and the environmental objectives such as CO2 footprint.

The project will be undertaken through the Life Cycle Engineering Research Group @UNSW (www.lceresearch.unsw.edu.au ). There will be substantial collaboration with the partner organisations. It is expected the successful candidate will spent substantial amount of time at the industry during the course of the project.

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree of at least Honours 1 or 2A standard or equivalent in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. An experience with manufacturing environment will be an advantage. This project will provide the selected candidate with valuable experience in sustainable manufacturing.

DETAILS
A stipend of $27,222 per annum (tax free) will be provided for three years. Additional taxable support of up to approx. $10,000 per annum may be available through acceptance of tutoring duties within the School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering for the suitable candidates. The Department’s research profile covers and integrates four academic research areas: Supply chain management (design of flows of goods, services, knowledge and information between firms); Performance management (design, use, and effects of financial and non-financial measures in strategy development and implementation); Innovation management (deployment of management tool to connect technology, organisation and markets); Operations management (relation between production, organization, and strategy in manufacturing and service industries); Managerial economics (decision modelling around pricing, costing, production planning and forecasting).

The Department of Operations Management supplies teaching and supervision to undergraduate, graduate, masters, executive and PhD programmes in economics and business administration.
This PhD project in the quality of cost information systems in healthcare will be exploring the needs for and challenges towards improvements in an organizational perspective. The project is expected to analyse the cost accounting as mechanism to create transparency in and ability to manage public health expenditure (e.g. concerning cross-border care, DRG based reimbursement systems, cost benefit calculations, and healthcare management). The project is expected to discuss the ability of cost accounting systems to provide relevant information on costs at many organisational and societal levels.
The Department will give priority to applicants with high grades from their universities.

General information:
A PhD scholarship runs for a period of 3 years, and includes teaching obligations equivalent of ½ year’s work (840 work hours). The scholarships are fully salaried positions, according to the national Danish collective agreement. The scholarship includes the tuition fees, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting with per month app. DKK 23.770 (app. 3,160 euro) up to DKK 28.964 (app. 3,860 euro) depending on seniority, plus a pension contribution totalling 17,1 % of 85 per cent of the base salary.
The salary level and appointment is determined by the Ministry of Finance’s collective agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.

The PhD student will be enrolled at PhD School in Language, Law, Informatics, Operations Management, Accounting and Culture.
To be considered, the candidate should have a basic training at the Masters level (similar to the 3 + 2 Bologna process). An educational background in the social sciences is necessary. The applicant must have successfully completed the Masters degree before commencing PhD at CBS. The applicants must be fluent in English.
The application (see link below) must include a 5 page project description. This research proposal should contain a presentation of an original research question, a description of the initial theoretical framework and methodology, a presentation of the suggested empirical material as well as a work-plan.

In addition to the research proposal, the application must include copies of a Master’s degree certificate or other certificates of a corresponding level, brief curriculum vitae (CV), a list of papers and publications, and one copy of a selected written work (e.g. Master’s thesis). Applicants must enclose documentation for English language skills. Documentation of GRE and/or GMAT scores is strongly encouraged. For submitting GMAT scores, look up Copenhagen Business School in the GMAC register and choose the PhD Program

A committee of experts in the field in question will assess the applications. The assessment of the applicants will be based on the quality and relevance of the project, including an evaluation of the applicant’s ability to accomplish it. Following this assessment, the management of the department will select the winners of the scholarships.
