Maths Word Problems? Finding it hard?

A few weeks ago I started teaching my little one, maths word problems. He was finding it hard to understand the wordings for one thing and to make sense of the jargons.

Then he had to find out whether to use addition or subtraction or multiplication or division. It was a hard time showing him the problems through pictures for each problem. This is when I chanced upon this site and wanted to share how excellent the material has been presented.

The word problems are based on the model method and it will give you immense ideas. You can create your own problems as well. Do try it out.

Reviews from a parent (primary class):

The infrastructure is not that good but I have heard they keep asking for money now and then most of the time. So be prepared to shell out more.

The best thing about the school is their teaching methodology. The teachers understand student's psychology very well and interaction between staff and students is very good.
If the kid is doing well in Maths for example, he/she is motivated to dwelve deeper into the subject. Homework if not done also, is taken care of and motivated by the teacher.

Anyone planning to visit Chrysalis High in Varthur Road? I had been travelling through the road and seeing all the posters of Chrysalis High, thought of having a look at it. The team at Chrysalis High have been part of the Vibgyor High setups.

The school is in the Varthur main Road itself and construction is going on. No compound yet and only the front building is coming up now. The structure is quite compact considering they are taking in students from nursery to Class 7. The picture shown in the website is sure to become reality only after two years.

Another academic year has gone by and its time for schools to flutter in the admission process. Re-openings are still a month away, but schools have been fast enough to decide the hike in fees for next year.

Recently I met a friend whose first child is in India International School (IIS). She was contemplating moving to another city or to stay back in Bangalore for another year. The school had told them the last date to get TC was Feb. She decided to go ahead with admissions for her second child in IIS. In March all parents got a rude shock in the form of a circular stating that fees has been hiked by 30%. If they wanted TC at this time, they had to pay the quarterly fees for the new academic year and then only TCs would be issued.

Due to protests from parents, there was a meeting between parents and the management to discuss the issue. A feedback form was sent and promptly answered by parents. Some of them were okay with the hike, while a majority wanted a less hike. Finally the hike has come down to 10%. My friend was asking in what way 30% hike is justifiable?
