Neither Justin Fields nor Mac Jones was the team’s choice, however. They took cornerback Jaycee Horn and cemented their commitment to Darnold by exercising their option on his contract for the 2022 season.

“I love those guys and I think they’re gonna be great NFL players. I just think for us, when we got Sam and knowing he’s 23-years-old, just turned 24, we just felt like Sam plus another player would be better for the team overall,” Rhule said. “Bill Parcells once said one player can’t do it alone. I think those other young quarterbacks are gonna be fantastic players, but the hit rate on first-round quarterbacks isn’t real, real high, and to have a chance to get Jaycee Horn and have Sam Darnold, we just kind of felt like, ‘Hey this is two for one.’ Now, we just have to make sure Sam’s a great player for us.”

After taking Horn, the Panthers selected four straight offensive players who can fit around Darnold in the Panthers’ bid to make sure that his Carolina tenure is more successful than his time with the Jets. If that doesn’t work and the other quarterbacks flourish, hindsight won’t be kind to the Panthers. If it does, the rebuild in Carolina should pick up a lot of speed.

Joyce Cheung-Flynn, Ph.D., and colleagues proposed that SAH downregulates the nitric oxide-protein kinase G (NO-PKG) signaling pathway that normally relaxes cerebral blood vessels.

Using a rat model, they confirmed reduced levels of NO-PKG pathway molecules, including the protein VASP, which modulates contractile machinery to cause vasorelaxation. They designed a family of cell permeant peptide mimics of activated VASP and demonstrated that the peptides caused vasorelaxation of vascular tissues ex vivo.

The findings, reported in the European Journal of Pharmacology, suggest that reduced NO-PKG signaling is an underlying mechanism of pathological vasoconstriction after SAH. Treatment with activated VASP peptides could be explored as a therapeutic strategy to reduce neurological deficits caused by SAH-induced vasospasm, the authors suggest.

Apple on Monday started enforcing a rule introduced last year requiring developers to use a pop-up notification seeking permission to gather data that can be used to track users across third-party sites and apps.

Facebook Inc (FB.O) has said the rules could harm its customers. Some mobile advertising analysts believe fewer than one in three users will opt-in, which could diminish the effectiveness and profitability of ad targeting.

Erik Neuenschwander, Apple’s user privacy chief, said in an interview that opt-in rates are likely to hinge on how developers make their case to users before showing the prompt, and the language used in a space Apple reserves for developers to give a reason for seeking permission.

In past years when Apple introduced new permission pop-ups for items like microphone access, the rates varied with whether users perceived value in granting permission, he said.

“A lot of it is based on the case that the developer makes,” Neuenschwander said. “What we have found through all the other permissions that have been coming into iOS over the years, is that (communication) is the major contribution the developer can make to making sure the user gets an informed choice.”

Apple’s changes only come into effect when app developers either sell data to third-parties for targeting ads, or buy third-party data to mix with their own to target ads.

Developers do not have to use the pop-up to show ads based on first-party data, such as what news stories a user has read in an app.

“We’re in favor of advertising – we do some advertising ourselves,” Neuenschwander said.

“You won’t see Apple prompt to track because we design our applications and our systems such that they don’t track users,” he added. “That’s the approach that we’re taking, but we still leave open the fact that others can take other approaches.”

The listing on the Samsung Mexico website was first spotted by a website named GalaxyClub that tracks Samsung developments. Recently, renders of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE also surfaced online. The renders, which came courtesy of known tipster Stever Hemmerstoffer, who goes by the name @OnLeaks, showed that Samsung may take a similar design approach as the Galaxy S21 series with a camera bump that blends in the frame of the device. The renders showed a triple-rear camera and an Infinity-O hole-punch display. There also appears to be a USB type-C port for charging and no 3.5mm headphone jack in sight. Hemmerstoffer also hinted at several details of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, including the dimensions of the smartphone and the screen size. The tipster hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will come with a 6.4-inch flat display, larger than the Samsung Galaxy S21’s 6.2-inch panel.

Dog lover Marjory was devastated after losing her dog just before lockdown last year.

She decided to browse the Dogs Trust Darlington website as her house felt empty without a four-legged companion.

When she found Jack, a Jack Russell Terrier, she decided to adopt him and they clicked straight away.

The woman, from Durham, said: “I’ve had dogs most of my life. Jack makes me so happy and seeing him happy is fantastic.

“When I found out how old Jack was it made me, even more, intent on giving him a home because I couldn’t bear the idea of him spending the rest of his life living in kennels.

“He is a very calm dog and likes to take life at his own pace, so this suits me very well.”

Marjory says she loves going for walks with Jack as he is calm and always stays by her side.

She said: “I would encourage anyone thinking of adopting a dog to consider an older dog.

“They are so full of character and are more likely to adjust in a new home if, like Jack, they have spent the majority of their life as part of a family.”

Now Dogs Trust is asking people to remember that when it comes to giving a rescue dog a second chance, older dogs need new homes too and have a lot to offer.

Sue Embleton, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Darlington says: “In the last year so many people have wanted to welcome a puppy into their family, but just like Jack has proven, older dogs make fantastic companions too.

“Owners like Marjory always tell us that the feeling you get from seeing them safe, warm, happy and enjoying an afternoon snooze snuggled up on the sofa, is something that can’t be beaten.

“Currently around 20% of the dogs here at Dogs Trust Darlington that are ready to find their forever homes are over eight and we would love to find them their perfect families.

“Older dogs are often calmer and less energetic so although they may still be playful and enjoy a stroll in the park, hiking up hills may be a thing of the past for them, which suits some owners, young and not so young.

“Also with an older dog, what you see is what you get both in terms of personality and size and although you can certainly teach an older dog new tricks, they usually know the training basics and have experienced many things in their lives, so as long as they have had positive experiences, they will take things in their stride.

“Helping an older dog enjoy their autumnal years and giving them the chance to live their best life is incredibly rewarding.”

Now that Rodgers reportedly wants out of Green Bay (and has said nothing publicly to push back against that), the Vikings are watching and waiting, like the rest of us.

“You always read things and stuff like that,” Vikings G.M. Rick Spielman told PFT PM earlier this week when asked whether and to what extent he monitors these situations. “Aaron Rodgers is maybe the best quarterback who has ever played this game, and I’m never going to talk about anyone else’s players. One, I’m not allowed to. It’s illegal. But you just always look at different situations. The most important thing is evaluating u,s and our decisions and if we do make mistakes how do we correct them or what will we do differently. If something works out, great. . . . My main focus here is on the Minnesota Vikings.”

Still, if Spielman regards Rodgers as “maybe the best quarterback who has ever played the game,” one or more people in the Minnesota organization (including Spielman) surely have their fingers crossed, hopeful that the Packers will indeed trade Rodgers out of the conference.

And then, maybe after he’s traded out of the conference, he’ll be cut following one year with a new team and then sign with the Vikings. But something like that could never happen with the best quarterback in Packers history.

Roughly chop 10g (or else about a generous handful) of parsley and stir into the crumbs with a little salt, black pepper and 3 tbsp of pumpkin seeds. (I like to chop them roughly, but it is up to you.) Set aside.

Bring a litre of vegetable stock (or water) to the boil in a saucepan. Cut 1kg of broccoli into florets and slice the stalks into thin coins. Cook the broccoli for a few minutes until tender, then remove half of it.

Purée half of the broccoli in a blender or food processor with a ladle of the cooking stock, a little salt and pepper and a couple of tablespoons of olive oil. Divide between 2 warm plates. Drain the remaining broccoli and add to the purée, then scatter with the crisp breadcrumbs and seeds. Trickle a little olive oil over the broccoli, and serve. Enough for 2

The trick
My problem with broccoli is its ability to go from steaming hot to stone cold in a matter of seconds. While you are making the purée, keep the rest of the broccoli in the hot water in which you cooked it. Once you have placed the purée on the plates, work quickly to make sure the dish is served hot.

The twist
Cauliflower works here, as you might imagine. The breadcrumbs can be added to as you wish. Some cherry tomatoes, cut into small dice, is a fine idea, added at the very last minute to retain the crispness of the crumbs. I’d also suggest some finely chopped anchovies – they are so good with any member of the brassica family.

Mirroring the improving picture at rivals Omnicom (OMC.N) and Publicis (PUBP.PA), Chief Executive Mark Read said bosses could see the recovery coming and even though COVID restrictions remained, companies and consumers have found ways to spend.

Having posted a 6.5% drop in underlying net sales in the fourth quarter, the group said sales jumped by 3.1% in the first three months as clients “seek to transform their offer for future growth”.

Analysts had expected the group’s net sales to drop 1.5%.

WPP’s shares rose 4% as the group reported its first quarterly rise in underlying net sales since the third quarter of 2019, and its biggest rise in the key figure since 2016. Trading was helped by a sales jump of 18% in Greater China.

“There’s been a lot of innovation in the last year and consumers have found ways to spend money,” Read said. “Those parts of the economy that have innovated are seeing growth.

“There is a lot of strategic corporate activity as companies figure out how to prosper in a post COVID world,” he added.

The recovery at the owner of the Ogilvy, Grey and GroupM agencies comes after Read sought to better combine the group’s digital and data capabilities with its creative agencies, a new approach that had been demanded by clients.

Since the start of the pandemic it has also won work by helping companies build e-commerce and digital offerings to reach consumers when traditional commerce routes had to close.

Analysts at Citi said the growth rate put WPP ahead of peers. “The most encouraging thing about this, though, is not the magnitude of the beat but the broad-based nature of it,” they said.

During the development phase, Arrival will receive feedback from Uber drivers to ensure the Arrival Car meets the requirements and needs of drivers and passengers. The car’s final design should be revealed before year’s end.

While typical cars make 10,000 miles a year, a ride-hailing vehicle can drive about 30,000 miles in that same period, therefore Uber drivers tend to spend a lot of their time inside their cars. With this in mind, Arrival it’s designing its EV car to be durable, comfortable, secure, and convenient.

“We are confident that electrifying ride-hailing vehicles will have an outsized impact on cities, and we are keen to support drivers as they manage this transition. Arrival Car will be designed around drivers’ needs to create a vehicle that is affordable, durable and desirable.” said Tom Elvidge, SVP at Arrival Mobility UK.

Jamie Heywood, Uber’s Regional Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe, said that Uber is helping London drivers replacing their cars with an EV by 2025. Through their Clean Air Plan, Uber has already raised more than $188m for that purpose.

Besides Uber, Arrival is working with other companies like UPS, who ordered 10,000 Generation 2 Electric vans for parcel transportation that should be delivered from 2020 to 2024, with the possibility to order another 10,000 after. Moreover, Arrival will also sell Arrival Bus to First Bus.
