Driving to the grocery store today, I saw a sign for a restaurant that I even did an anonymous review for on this blog.
Their current sign is one of those electronic signs that flashes different words; they are pretty common any more.

Anyway, the sign said: WARNING: OUR FOOD IS ADDICTIVE

The next flash of words said this: EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK

Now, the addictive food part I must really say that I do not agree. It was plain terrible. Even the bottomless french fries were disgusting. Yuck. Everything else had freezer burn, save for the truly fresh ingredients. I didn't try their version of pizza, but I don't care to try it.

Now, the eat at your own risk, was not smart at all. I don't care who you are, you're gonna have to start giving away food that the Pope has blessed if many more people pay attention to that sign. Yikes!

Yes, eat at your own risk anywhere, but do not use that as a marketing tool. Not too smart.

I say : 'You think it was raining' because I find rain weather to be very easy to calm me down for naps or sleeping.

Granted, this gloomy weather of snow can do the same.

Football and hockey are on the television. There is some kind of white noise with the crowd screaming for their favorite teams. White noise is perfect for finding people snoring. Like right now, I hear somebody snoring.

Have a great nap where ever you are located. Naps are a treasure when you can sneak a nap in your day.
I hope to be back to the world of blogging more often, especially since it is a big election year.

Orange Marmalade Cocktail Recipe

An orange martini to start your day

Though many of us tend to stick to a large dose of coffee before work, back in the 19th and early 20th Century, a morning tipple was rather common, and it certainly didn't seem to hamper productivity during the Industrial Revolution.
The Marmalade Cocktail was first published in Harry Craddock's Savoy Cocktail Book in 1930, noting, "should there be no fog, take as preventatives lest there should be fog in the course of the day." Originally, the drink did not call for Campari, but I prefer the addition, as fashioned by the notable London cocktail bar, Hawksmoor.
Delicious, citrusy and refreshing, this drink certainly provides a quick wake-up call. Most people would likely prefer to sip with their weekend brunch, but don't feel ashamed if you break from better judgement once in a while and suddenly find yourself with a brighter workday.

Servings: 1 cocktail

Ingredients

2 ounces Gin

1 ounce fresh lemon juice

3/4 ounce Campari

2 spoons orange marmalade

2 dashes Orange Bitters

Directions:

Combine ingredients and shake, then strain over a chilled coupe.
Garnish with orange peel.

Level of Difficulty:

Easy

So, call-out your elected officials as they are public servants working as an extension for our rights and liberties. As long as they continue to value fatter wallets in their pants or pocketbooks, we will continue to lose our rights.

Quiet calm of white noise

I'm a grump. And that isn't anything new. I've been a complete and total grump (that is the nice form of any other word choices that I can use). I am pretty sure why. We are all influenced by so many factors.

Seriously? I used to be one of those people that would smile at you in public and would be disappointed if you didn't light-up or smile back. Really. That was me. I did that stuff. I don't do it any more, accept to people that are providing me services in the retail or restaurant world. Even if they are lousy, they need the smiles and the conversational reciprocation.

I practice making growls and frowns with those around me. I do.

I remember going to grade (elementary/Kindergarten-6th grade) school and wondered why some of these teachers were such sour people. I think I know why now. They used to be the people that would smile in public and nobody would smile back. Then it became worse from there. Their lives were out-of-their-control.
Bad stuff kept happening to them. They were above all of the bad stuff in their lives, but the bad stuff kept winning the battles. OR they had to 'give in' so that some sort of peace could be kept. I can see it now.

Our kindergarten teacher was always sour. I thought she was cool, until she sent a note home to our parents and basically had me punished or scared into remembering letters and words. She was a tired sort. Her crowning achievement, which I always will remember, was leading the entire school in an amazing Halloween parade on the playground's blacktop. From the parents' view, it was an amazing, twisting snake of students dressed in halloween costumes following this teacher. She was cool for that. And really, quite frankly, cool at everything else. I realize now, she sent that note home to our parents because I asked for her help when she was speaking to the school's principal. She was frustrated and took it out on me. Sure, I should have known how to do what I had asked of her, but I didn't know that I should have known that. I'm sure her health wasn't the best. Her breathing was always heavy and labored. She was very obese, but that didn't make her ugly. I think the weight caused her physical pain. I can deal with that. I know how that is, being overweight. Who knows what teachers deal with everyday? Teachers know, I don't. I'm not even a teacher, and I am sour beyond all help. I put sweetener or sugar in my tea to help me be less of a sour person (that's a joke).

So, back to me being a complete grump. I cannot stand worthless noises. Worthless chatter or banter. Unfortunately, that is what is all over the television and talk radio. So, if I am unable to control the banter,
I just don't want to listen to it. Give me the sound of a fan humming. That's all I need. Keep me calm.

Well, HELLO THERE!

I've become aware that many people will be trying to sell you products that are, indeed, good for you.

Tea: tea is very good for you. With or without the idea that losing weight will be accomplished. The importance of drinking green tea has many benefits. Unfortunately, if you do not conform to some form of calorie counting and go for walks more often than you do now, your weight loss may not be successful.

Other potions and items disguised as vitamins: These may be good for you in some sense. Make sure to consult a physician if you have any questions regarding use of these items. What is important is that you follow safety guidelines. The older we become, the harder it is to lose weight (unless you have an illness or genetic-given ability).

We are tempted to try a quick way to lose weight. What really should be done is try to figure your own body rhythms. Seriously. It is difficult say one formula of diet, pills, exercise, and placebos will fit all. We are all so different.

I've been a yo-yo emotional diet mess for a long time now. My family has been built like tanks (thanks!). Unfortunately, trying to knock the weight off of these 'tanks' is not easy. The most successful way to lose the weight in our family has been severe calorie restriction and moderate exercise. Our calorie restriction has come in the form of either illness or legitimate journal/diary food entry systems.

Weakness: I have a weakness when it comes to food: EMOTIONS. Many of us do. I am not alone in that category. When I have head pain (from TMJ/Sinus/Tension headache), I even eat more and drink tons and tons of tea.

Anyway, be aware of the facts before you start off your new year and new life with a diet. Know that it is hard work. And keeping it off will depend on you. Support is important.

Take it from this professional yo-yo dieter: Take it a day at a time and pay attention to your emotions.
