This is another post by Mclovin, I didn’t think I would be doing another post for a long while, as I don’t tend to want to write about something unless i think it might be worth sharing.
In fact, I think their was like a year between my first post and my second one which I [...]

Close Your Eyes

“If you close your eyes, does the world still exist?”. Of course, I would have laughed at the stupidity of this question for most of my life because I believed in absolute truth and reality. Now, as I lean more towards Buddhist views, I see that “reality” is only “reality” to you as you experience it.

Quotes from “The Immortalization Commission”.

He knew dying is rarely dignified or beautiful. Yet he saw clearly the dangers of spending his days running away from it. So instead he entered the death machine, faced its perils and then stepped away. The risks he faced only kept him more keenly alive.

Empathetic Earthlings

At the base the theory is the same as the empathetic civilization in that humans evolved to have mirror neurons, which allow for empathy. It is important to understand that this is quite a unique evolutionary trait.

Evolution^n

This led me to consider a more general problem (we are talking about a Touring solution here, not just a better chess engine after all) - what would AI software look like where a game was just one of the things a CPU wanted to learn/master/win? Again, this goes back to the motivation question - what is the motivation for winning? Why not choose not to play, or even choose to lose?

Goodbye Glenn

So, I went to a Naturopath and decided to get hormonal and neurotransmitter testing done. The results show that I am very low on Serotonin, and a little low on Dopamine, GABA, PEA and Cortisol (adrenaline). So my good doctor gave me some supplements to take to "fix" these imbalances. End of story, happy ending right? Obviously not...I can't seem to make anything easy.

If you love something, set it free.

I subscribe to the idea of "If you love something, set it free; if it comes back it's yours, if it doesn't, it never was.". Now, I can see some pros and cons to this idea and to the opposite view where you put the thing you love in a box (figuratively speaking) and never let it out so it will always be with you.
