Hit the road, Jim!

Well, my philosophy now certainly contains the concept that, if something is working, do more of THAT.

So, I am working on doing MORE performing, and mainly my impressions, since that is what is currently creating so much of a buzz.

We just finished a sold out series of shows in Hollywood, which was mainly new people coming off the YouTube video, unfamiliar faces that were soon smiling broadly, laughing and some with tears streaming down.

I love performing for people I’ve never seen before… seems like the right thing.

So now off we go to the U.K. to do a group of shows and workshops at an arts festival in East Grinstead, then shows in London and Birmingham… then a few days rest in Cornwall.

You can bet we will shoot a lot of Professor Knestor videos! I wonder if we can find Oxmouth College…

After that, we head right into another big weekend at The Acting Center and more full houses of brand new audiences. I’ll do a weekend a month there thru November.

In September I go to Clearwater, Florida to do a night of JIMPRESSIONS at the Capitol Theater for 475 people. Very excited about bringing the show to Florida audiences!

And I have a new video in the works with more celebrity impressions… coming very soon, if I can finish before we get on the plane to England.

It may seem like a lot, but I feel like I’m just getting up to speed.

Zur Beantwortung der Frage, wie Religion und Religionsausübung in der heutigen pluralistischen Gesellschaft definiert werden sollten, haben Religionswissenschaftler die grundlegenden Merkmale aller Glaubensrichtungen untersucht; man ist auch der Frage nachgegangen, ob und wie sich diese Faktoren in Scientology manifestieren.

Viele glauben, daß sie die Antwort auf die Frage „Was ist eine Religion?" bereits kennen. Die persönliche Definition ist von Mensch zu Mensch verschieden und ist fast immer von seinem persönlichen religiösen Erbe und seinen persönlichen Erfahrungen geprägt. Doch die Geschichte lehrt uns, daß genau dieser Umstand dazu beitrug, daß es die Kreuzzüge geben konnte, die Spanische Inquisition, Jahrhunderte des Blutvergießens in den Niederlanden und anderswo in Europa oder auch die jahrelangen Unruhen in Nordirland.

Heute führen restriktive Definitionsansätze zum Religionsbegriff im allgemeinen zwar zu weniger gewalttätigen, letztlich aber zu gleichermaßen destruktiven Formen der Diskriminierung und zu anderen Menschenrechtsverletzungen, ganz besonders gegen Mitglieder neuer oder fremder Glaubensrichtungen.

Jahrhundertelang gingen westliche Denker das Thema einzig und allein aus der Perspektive der jüdisch-christlichen Tradition an. Dieser Ansatz fußte auf zwei fundamentalen und zusammenhängenden Lehrsätzen: zum einen auf dem Glauben an die Existenz eines personifizierten Schöpfergottes, der von den Menschen getrennt ist und über ihnen steht, und zum anderen darauf, daß des Menschen höchstes Tun die Verehrung dieses Gottes, das Bittgebet und die Ehrfurcht vor ihm sei. Wenn ein Glauben diese Doktrinen nicht enthielt, wurde er nicht als religiös betrachtet.

Scientologists, amigos y vecinos llenaron la 1ª Avenida, acompañando al actor y residente en Ocala, John Travolta, y al alcalde de Ocala, Randy Ewers, en las ceremonias de dedicación e inauguración de la Misión de la Iglesia de Scientology de Ocala, Florida.

Travolta y su esposa, la actriz Kelly Preston, encabezaron el establecimiento de la nueva misión en su ciudad adoptiva. Situada junto a la histórica plaza de la ciudad, la Misión de Ocala ofrecerá los servicios iniciales de Scientology a la comunidad.

Click Ads - Google vs. Microsoft

I confess: I'm a Google lover.

It isn't "love is blind." I know they aren't perfect.

But they try, and in comparison to everyone else, they usually come out on top.

(Not always. I do use an iPhone, not Android.)

Take Google AdWords vs. Microsoft AdCenter - the two big players in click ads. Google owns about a 2/3 market share in the U.S., Microsoft almost all the rest.

When you compare the two services, most of the time it is either "Microsoft is as good as Google because they are imitating what Google does" or "Microsoft isn't as good because they are doing something differently from Google."

AdCenter's procedure for setting up agency access to a client account is so weird and counter-intuitive - and obscure even to their own people - that it took 3 weeks, about 6 phone calls, a chat and probably a dozen emails to get it straight. It requires two different logins, one to accept the invitation to manage, and another to actually manage the account.

Why?

A recent article says that AdCenter has now achieved near parity with AdWords as far as cost of clicks for comparable searches. I don't find that to be the case. With our clients, Microsoft ads are consistently much cheaper. So on that basis it is worthwhile to run AdCenter ads.

I also find the potential clicks are way less than 1/2 that of Google's. Since Google's tools for campaign management are superior, our typical process is to set up and fine-tune campaigns in AdWords, then set up a duplicate campaign in AdCenter and fine-tune it for differences.

Microsoft is losing billions of dollars on click ads. Google of course wants Microsoft to stay in business, because if they fold, then Google really is a monopoly and governments will come down on them like a ton of bricks.

Now that's not exactly surprising but it is worth remembering.

In case you're ever shy about doing something unique in your marketing.

Geico's made it big with a talking lizard and an irate Neanderthal.

Of course it can be overdone. Do stop short of the bizarre, things that will turn off the potential buyer or give them the wrong impression.

Les scientologues adhèrent à certains codes et croyances. Le code du scientologue, écrit par Ron Hubbard en 1954, figure parmi ceux-là. Il stipule que le scientologue s’engage :

« à condamner et à faire tout ce qu’il peut pour abolir tous les abus contre la vie et l’humanité » ;
« à dénoncer et à contribuer à l’abolition de toute pratique entraînant des préjudices physiques dans le domaine de la santé mentale » ;
« à établir une atmosphère de sécurité et de confiance dans le domaine de la santé mentale en supprimant tous les abus et la brutalité« .

Depuis la fondation de l’Église de Scientologie, ses paroissiens s’opposent fermement aux traitements violents, aux pratiques criminelles et aux abus en matière de droits de l’homme, qui caractérisent le monde de la santé mentale.

La psychiatrie démasquée

La psychiatrie est un domaine on ne peut plus « passionnant ». Ses membres affichent des buts humanitaires et se posent en experts du traitement des problèmes de santé mentale. Cette position a permis à la psychiatrie d’empocher de substantielles subventions gouvernementales pendant des années, et lui a conféré un pouvoir non négligeable au sein de la société.

Toutefois, à la lumière des faits découverts par l’Église de Scientologie, il serait plus juste de comparer ses activités à un pillage régulier et prolongé des caisses de l’État. En général, on ne reçoit de l’argent qu’en échange d’un service ou d’un produit valable.

La psychiatrie abuse les gouvernements depuis fort longtemps.

Au début de ce siècle, il n’existait pour ainsi dire aucune étude systématique dans le domaine du mental. La place était libre, la psychiatrie l’a donc investie et s’est déclarée maîtresse des lieux. Elle n’avait alors aucun concurrent digne de ce nom. En effet, les progrès des traitements physiques absorbaient trop la médecine pour que celle-ci s’intéresse sérieusement au problème du mental.

Aussi, au début, dans une société encore tout éblouie par les prétentions de la science, ces nouvelles théories qui se voulaient aussi scientifiques que celles de leurs homologues n’ont rencontré que très peu d’opposition.

C’est ainsi que les psychiatres ont d’une part bénéficié de subventions émanant de gouvernements intéressés par l’idée de pouvoir contrôler les populations ; d’autre part, ils ont pu s’habiller de blouses blanches dans leurs laboratoires, faire des expériences sur des souris, des singes et des chines et publier de savantes thèses, utilisant un jargon hâtivement mis au point et virtuellement incompréhensible pour le profane et le politicien.

En vérité, comme la suite des événements devait finalement le démontrer, il s’agissait d’une histoire de fous. C’était la version moderne de la fable du roi nu que toute sa cour feignait de voir habillé de peur de l’offenser. Le problème n’avait cependant rien de bénin. Son ampleur résidait dans les prémisses mêmes des théories psychiatriques.

Tout chercheur fait face à de nombreux choix.

Mille et une directions s’offrent à lui.

Il y a plus d’un siècle, la psychiatrie et sa cousine, la psychologie, ont opté pour une orientation précise.

Depuis lors elles l’ont suivie aveuglément à quelques rares exceptions près.

Leurs postulats impliquaient que l’homme est un animal (d’où les expériences sur les animaux), que toutes ses activités mentales émanaient du cerveau (d’où le traitement physique de cet organe comme principale solution aux problèmes mentaux), et qu’il agissait par réaction aux stimuli de l’environnement (et donc qu’on pouvait manipuler son comportement à l’aide de ceux-ci). La psychiatrie n’a jamais sérieusement remis en question ces prémisses.

Hélas, il s’agit là d’une voie sans issue. La preuve, ces experts autoproclamés ne comprennent toujours pas, à ce jour, le fonctionnement du mental. Pourtant leur nom même implique que leur tâche consiste à guérir la psyché (ou âme) car c’est la signification première du mot psychiatrie. Mais le psychiatre d’aujourd’hui nie l’existence de l’esprit et ne voit en l’homme qu’un amas de matières et de produits chimiques, mû par la douleur.

Aujourd’hui, les psychiatres continuent à tourner en rond dans le cul-de-sac où ils se sont fourvoyés.

Ils passent leur temps à trébucher sur les cadavres des victimes qu’ils laissent dans leur sillage. Pour être un simple mécanicien, il faut apprendre ce que sont les moteurs, la façon dont ils sont construits, ce qui les fait tourner, et quel est leur fonctionnement… avant d’y plonger avec une clé à molette.

La psychiatrie est non seulement passée à côté de ce principe fondamental, mais ses outils consistent en une vaste panoplie de médicaments psychotropes, de machines à électrochocs et de bistouris de chirurgiens. Non seulement leur hypothèse de base est fausse, mais ils n’ont aucune idée de ce qu’ils traient en réalité (en dehors de symptômes facilement observables).

De ce fait, leurs résultats sont bien sûr consternants.

À ce propos, le docteur et psychiatre Thomas Szasz a déclaré que la psychiatrie était la force la plus destructrice qui ait affecté la vie américaine ces cinquante dernières années.

La question qui vient immédiatement à l’esprit est de savoir que faire dans de telles circonstances. La psychiatrie a affirmé sa suprématie dans ce domaine par le simple fait qu’il n’y avait pas d’autres candidats. Aujourd’hui, tout le monde s’attend à ce qu’elle obtienne des résultats.

Hélas, les membres de cette profession ignorent où ils vont. Leur position est pour le moins délicate. Ils illustrent la maxime : « Les hommes désespérés prennent des mesures désespérées. »

Ron Hubbard fut l’un des premiers à remarquer la nudité de ce roi, et le désespoir qui guidait ses actes. Son premier contact avec le milieu de la psychiatrie date de la fin des années 40. Là, Ron Hubbard se rendit vite compte de la situation : il observa l’arrogance des psychiatres, leur cupidité, leur manque de considération pour l’individu et leur grave incompétence.

Il fut outré de constater que toute la publicité faite autour des prétendus soins psychiatriques ne correspondait pas à la réalité. Ils continuaient d’entasser leurs patients difficiles comme du bétail, dans des conditions épouvantables. À coup de médicaments, ils les réduisaient à un état végétatif dont ils ne se remettraient jamais. Ils les punissaient à coup d’électrochocs.

Ron Hubbard remarqua aussi qu’en dehors de nourriture, de vêtements et d’une cellule capitonnée, la psychiatrie ne disposait en fait d’aucune méthode pour traiter le malade mental.

Ron Hubbard écrivit qu’en résumé, la psychiatrie était un modèle d’inefficacité, de mensonges et de brutalité inhumaine. L’idée de départ de psychiatres était la suivante : en infligeant assez de châtiments, on pourrait rendre la santé mentale à n’importe qui ; et si cela ne marchait pas, on pouvait toujours sectionner les lobes préfrontaux du patient.

Ayant remarqué tout cela, parmi d’autres énormité, Ron Hubbard déclara qu’il était du devoir d’un scientologue de « dénoncer toutes les pratiques du domaine de la santé mentale entraînant des dommages physiques et de contribuer à les abolir ».

C’est ainsi que fut formée la Commission des citoyens pour les droits de l’homme.

Search Rankings: How Valuable is Being #1?

I've seen several studies claiming that the #1 organic search position gets more than 30% of all the clicks on the page.

I never believed it (and said so) because it didn't match our experience for ANY of our clients.

I'm talking actual numbers, across a wide range of industries, and national as well as local search.

Consistently, we find #1 or #2 gives a nice bump over being lower on page 1. The top half of page 1 is definitely better than the bottom of page 1. And being lower than page 1? Fuhgeddaboudit!

A new study supports these numbers. The Value of Organic Search Rankings.

Per this study, #1 got 18% of clicks, #2 gets 10%, going down from 7% at #3 to only about 1% for #10.

The big lesson here is to fight the battles you can win. Being #18 for the most competitive term in your industry will get you less traffic than being #1 or #2 for a term that gets less than 1/10th the traffic.

Sure, go for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But that is often a long-term strategy.

Short term, fight the fights you can win.

Zur Frage der Anerkennung der deutschen Scientology Kirchen und ihrer Mitglieder bezüglich ihres Schutzanspruchs aus Art. 4 GG (Religionsfreiheit) durch staatliche Gerichte (Stand März 2011)

1. DIVERSE URTEILE ZUM ANSPRUCH AUF DEN SCHUTZ VON ART. 4 GG

In Deutschland allein gibt es zahlreiche Gerichtsentscheidungen, die besagen, dass die Scientology Lehre, die Scientology Gemeinden und ihre Mitglieder den Schutz aus Art. 4 GG – Religionsfreiheit – beanspruchen können.

In diesen Entscheidungen haben die Gerichte entweder den Vereinen der Scientology Kirche oder ihren Mitgliedern in den unterschiedlichsten rechtlichen Zusammenhängen den Schutz aus Art. 4 GG gewährt.

Ausdrücklich wurde den Scientology-Vereinen der Status als Religionsgemeinschaft von deutschen Gerichten in den folgenden Urteilen bestätigt, wobei hier nur einige Gerichtsentscheidungen aus den letzten 26 Jahren beispielhaft erwähnt und zitiert werden, die regelmäßig von bestimmten staatlichen Behörden und engagierten Gegnern ignoriert werden:

Bayerisches Verwaltungsgericht München, Urteil vom 25.07.1984 (Az. M 1392 VII 84), Scientology Kirche Deutschland ./. LH München wegen Entzug der Rechtsfähigkeit:

„1. Der Schutzbereich des Art. 4 Abs. l und 2 GG erstreckt sich auch auf den Kläger. Der Kläger ist als Religionsgemeinschaft oder zumindest weltanschauliche Gemeinschaft anzusehen.“

Landgericht Hamburg Beschluss vom 17.2.1988 (Az 71 T 79/85) in der Sache Celebrity Centre Scientology Kirche Hamburg e.V. wegen Eintragung in das Vereinsregister als Idealverein,

and that's just Google. There's Bing, Yahoo, other smaller search engines and the many websites that sell access - Amazon, eBay, Kayak, Hotels.com, etc. etc.

Nous vivons à une époque où la peur du terrorisme et de la criminalité conduit à restreindre les libertés individuelles à un point tel que la démocratie, que nous cherchons précisément à protéger, se voit menacée. Ce processus d’équilibre entre l’intérêt général et les intérêts privés met en grand danger la classe politique et ses citoyens.

Pour qu’une démocratie fonctionne en toute légitimité, les citoyens doivent être en mesure de réunir des informations exactes et pertinentes sur le fonctionnement interne de leur pays et les raisons qui incitent le gouvernement à passer à l’action.

L’histoire a été profondément marquée par les abus de pouvoir commis sous le sceau du secret, qui ont finalement été révélés au grand jour.

Au milieu d’un tel chaos, comment protéger à la fois les droits fondamentaux de chaque citoyen et l’intégrité de notre démocratie, pour nous comme pour les générations futures ?

Google Places and Reviews

Google has been under a lot of pressure from governments lately.

One change they've made recently, probably in response, is to stop "stealing" reviews.

For some time now, Google Places (the map/ local listings) has shown content from review sites such as Yelp, Demand Force and others, as though it were their own.

This led to complaints on the part of some of these sites that Google was stealing their content, thus making it unnecessary for someone to visit their site.

That is no longer the case. Google now shows links to these sites and the number of reviews, but the only reviews it actually shows on the Place Page - and the only ratings - are those entered directly into Google.

These reviews are of great importance to Place Page optimization (getting your local listing to rank well), as well as to SEO in general (since Place Page ranking strongly affects the rankings of combined local and organic listings).

Add this into the mix. This is a huge positive in getting your listings clicked on - actual quoted positive reviews directly on the SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

Any company that has been depending on third party review sites needs to get a strategy going, to get their happy customers to go onto Google to add reviews.

Just in case there is any question about it, this is HUGE for local search.
