Here we are, bestowed with another "Best of.." list. This time Paste takes on the duty of compiling the "50 Best Albums of the Decade (2000-2009)". If you head over to their site, you can sample each of the albums listed.

I always enjoy reading these lists even though I often disagree with them. You'd think by now I should know what I'm getting myself into when I read a "Best of.." list on an indie music site. From what's included, I'm actually fairly content with the list and I'm glad to see Illinois take the top spot. I'm surprised that there's a lack of love for Fleet Foxes, the inclusion of a few soundtracks and that I and Love and You is in the top ten. I'm always a fan of the same token hip-hop albums that grace every single one of these "Best of.." lists. Apparently the indie world has only heard of Kanye, Jay-Z and OutKast, cool! Do you find any blaring omissions or any albums that are wasting space on the list? What would your top ten or even five consist of? Share your thoughts in the replies.

New information on Motion City Soundtrack's upcoming album My Dinosaur Life was released today including the album's track list and album art. The album drops 01/19/2010.

Not too sure if I dig the art entirely, but maybe the songs will reflect back to it. I am intrigued with the song titles and I think they are set to make for some interesting songs. I'm really curious to see what sort of direction this album takes. With their last album, Even If It Kills Me, we got to hear a fairly mellow side of the band which included only a few spastic, high energy songs like on their first two albums. The first single off of My Dinosaur Life, "Disappear", is somewhat heavy and less synth driven than their previous work. MCS' singles are usually indicative of the rest of their albums, but for now I'll put aside any notions of what I think the album is going to sound like and wait until the album comes out in January.

Don't you just love it when an artist that you had lost faith in makes a comeback, Mr. Chris Carrabba has done that for me. With the last two releases from Dashboard I was starting to think maybe the band had run its course for me, but with the release on the new songs I am getting really amped for the new CD.

Just four guys making music. I do this thing; read SPIN. Then sometimes I do this other thing; read SPIN, research random musicians in it; download their songs; and like them.

Plain Jane Automobile had a quote in the first few pages of SPIN about how much they love going on tour, and I like that. You see I had to go look them up because there was nothing else about them, just that quote with a tiny little picture. Well turns out they've won a few awards, they are working hard to make it, and I like that too. Their first EP released in 2006 was followed by a tour that left fans demanding more. Their latest album, out since August of 2008, shows a lot of potential. So give their indie rock music a listen.

i promise ill post about more than just country music...but when garth brooks announces that he's coming out of retirement today i thought it was blog worthy...

"I know this is a young industry, so I'm not sure I'll be welcomed back but, if the fans want me, I still want to pursue my music," Brooks told reporters at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

i don't think the red carpet will be rolled out for him yet but just to refresh your young minds, before rascal flatts...there was garth brooks...maybe this new country music base that rascal and taylor have created he can 'roll' on again...

Cudi to Open for Gaga on Fall Tour

Only weeks after the cancellation of "Fame Kills" tour co-headlined with Kanye West, Lady Gaga is off to embark on a solo, two month tour entitled "The Monster Ball". The tour is set to begin on November 27th in Montreal. Supporting Gaga on the tour will be none other than Cleveland MC, Kid Cudi (fingers crossed in hoping the two will perform "Make Her Say"). The rest of the tour dates can be found here.

Even though Kanye and Gaga are no longer touring together, this tour is still going to be huge. I can only imagine what Lady Gaga is going to surprise the crowd with performance wise, and more importantly, costume wise.

It is hard to write about, something.. well something that has touched so many hearts inside the Scope office, I will try. Bon Iver has earned his right to be on that pedestal of Scope love, the pedestal that says this man can do anything he wants and we will still love him. It is hard to forgive Justin Vernon for wanting to take a break, but we will inevitably forgive him, as long as he comes back to us. I think we all will remember those dark cold nights, watching the snow, pretending we lived out in a cabin. I think we will all remember the chills we got, because we were exhausted and he bared his soul for us and for even just a brief moment, we understood.

Tonight I want you to pull up your covers, put on those old clunky headphones and let this man take you somewhere magical, a place where you feel so different, but it always feels like home. Let the music take you to the cabin that Justin Vernon recorded For Emma, go outside on the front porch and there in the snow he will play for you, and you will get those same chills you got when you heard it for the first time.
