15th Winter Skills Week 2019

2nd to 9th March 2019

This week will cater for three target audiences –

1) Four places are available on this week for novices i:e those who want to gain experience in Winter conditions having already gained a good Summer mountain walking experience

2) Scout leaders who wish to be assessed for their terrain 2 Winter Scouting authorisations

3) Those that are experienced Winter mountaineers who wish to develop their skills

The cost of the week is £380.00, which includes fuel costs (subject to car sharing), food and accommodation.

Hampshire County Council Activity Leadership Qualification Courses

Hampshire County Council run several opportunities to attend training and assessment courses for National Governing Body qualifications such as the Mountain Leader, Hill & Moorland Leader (formerly Walking Group Leader Award), Climbing Wall Award and Single Pitch Award.

Hampshire Scouts does have an Activity Instructor Grant Scheme to assist members with funding to attend such courses as the above. Find out more on the scheme here.

Orienteering Races

I would like to if possible flag up to the local scout groups in NE Hampshire the provisional programme for Orienteering Races being run from Sept 2015 through to March 2016. This will allow plenty of time to programme in a visit to one of these events.

Southern Navigators celebrate 50 years in 2015 since our formation in 1965 and the Junior League competition will also celebrate 30 years this year.

If you are able to include this in whatever communications you might have with your scout groups in Hook, Basingstoke, Hartley Wintney, Yateley, Aldershot, Farnborough and Fleet etc that would be appreciated.
