The Woodstock for Capitalists took place this weekend in Omaha Nebraska when Warren Buffett and his sidekick Charlie Munger held court at the CHI Health Center (formerly called CenturyLink) for thousands of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders. One reason why to hire an SEO company is because they’ll be able to exploit the best tools, resources, and strategies to keep up with the changing landscape of SEO.

All aspects of this event have been covered by 100s of news outlets but this piece of information jumped off the page at me in a Fox Business article where Buffett told Liz Claman their cash position increases by $100 million per day!

“It goes up about $100 million a day, a business day,”
Warren Buffett to Liz Claman of Fox Business

How’d you like to have that problem to deal with in your business every day?

You can find an excellent recap of the meeting in the New York Times.

MDSN (pronounced Madison) dropped a new single a few days ago and I’m going to have it on repeat for a while.

Madison, or as I know her Gracie, is the teen daughter of respected worship leaders, David and Nicole Binion.

As a regular attendee at Dallas church, Dwell, where MDSN often joins her parents as part of the worship team, it has been wonderful to watch her grow as an artist. There have been times when I wasn’t looking at the stage and couldn’t tell if it was MDSN or her mom singing, and I love to hear Nicole Binion sing.

This new song of MDSN’s, co-written with Mitch Wong, immediately resonated in my spirit and this lyric has captured me.

Are you looking for vinyl cutting machine? In www.vinylcuttingmachineguide.com you can find the features of different model of machines, in that way you can take the smarter decision.

No impossibilities
Miracles come naturally

The church has made miracles into something that only the Super Preacher can administer, or it can only happen after we’ve sung worship songs till we’re exhausted, or in some Miracle Service in an arena somewhere. If you are looking for the Best Bath Toys For 1 Year Old in https://infantcore.com/ you can find different toys depending on what each child likes.

What if miracles were an everyday occurrence for believers? What if walking through a grocery store you see a lame person and you simply say to them “In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” then reach out your hand and as you help them up they “were instantly healed and strengthened?” What if we believe miracles really do come naturally?

The wide range of policies will cover all the different situations and also vary depending on the total amount of insurance coverage you want to take out.
Then she consulted an attorney where she found out a trustee could’ve signed the ticket on her behalf ensuring her anonymity. But the state said since she had signed the ticket herself her name was public information. She cried foul and sued.

Have you ever followed a link to a site and then all of the sudden a video from that site starts autoplaying? Doesn’t it just piss you off? It’s the worst.

For example CNN.com. Damn videos chasing you all over their site. And it’s not just CNN, FoxNews.com is guilty too. And so are a host of other sites. It’s a terrible user experience.

The latest release of Google Chrome has a solution I will be using every time I run across one of these miscreant sites: Mute Site.

Using this option will kill all sound coming from the offending site for as long as the option is checked. The downside is that if for some reason you actually want to listen to a video from the site you will have to uncheck the option. This is a small price to pay for silence.

Tutorial

Step 1

Open Google Chrome and navigate to any site that autoplays videos, CNN.com for example.

Step 2

In the browser tab activate the drop down menu. On a MacBook that will be a two-finger tap on the trackpad. On a PC that will be right click of the mouse.

Step 3

Select Mute Site from the drop down menu.

And Voilà! All sound emanating from that site is now silenced.

Thank you Google Chrome. I was a reluctant user before. I now love you.

Aesthetic

On a Sunday morning I made my way over to give Top Pot at Cityline in Richardson a try. According to their website aesthetic is important to them.

Our founders sought to create a doughnut shop that moved away from the fluorescent-lit fast food aesthetic.

On that they succeeded. Not quite the inviting look and feel of a Starbucks but comfortable.

Their display of doughnuts is a bit overwhelming. Jammed into a small fancy display case. It’s hard to tell what all they have.

Doughnuts

Their website then mentions the doughnuts, or donuts — as it’s commonly spelled in Dallas.

Instead, they created an oasis, where patrons could slow down and savor the nostalgia and taste of a secret 1920s doughnut recipe in a gorgeous vintage environment.

And this is where they lost me. I took a clue from the nice lady behind the counter and went with her suggestions: a Cherry Glazed, a Chocolate Covered Original Glazed, and an Original Glazed.

First one I tried was this Cherry Glazed Doughnut. I took three bites and was done. The weight of it was too much. The glaze was meh. But I had two more to try so I hadn’t lost hope yet.

Next up was the Chocolate Covered Original Glazed. I took two bites and was done. Still heavy cake. And it was too chocolatey. And that’s coming from a man who loves him some chocolate.

But I had saved the best for last — I thought. I took one bite of the Original Glazed and I wanted to cry. I was expecting it to be the traditional light and fluffy glazed donut I was accustomed to, but sadly no. More heavy cake.

Apparently all of their doughnuts are thick, heavy, cake doughnuts. I like my donuts light and airy. And nothing was hot. Not even a microwave in sight so you could nuke one.

Southern Maid

My benchmark for doughnuts (and kolaches) is Southern Maid just a couple of miles up the road on the corner of Park and K Avenue. No fancy aesthetic. Still have their fluorescent lights on.

Owned and run by the same family for years. Small batches of tasty donuts made fresh throughout the morning. So the odds of getting a hot one are pretty good if you get there before 9am.

They have some cake donuts, but they also have original glazed donuts made like a donut should be: light and airy. Or you could try their chocolate covered glazed…or their cinnamon rolls…or their…well you get the idea.

On Sunday, April 23, I visited Antioch Church in Downtown Dallas, conveniently located at the West End DART rail station. You can literally get off the train and in just a few steps walk through the front door of the church.

You can get off the DART train at the West End station and in just a few steps be in the front door of Antioch Church.

As a matter of fact when the church was praying about a new location one of their requests was that it be within walking distance of a DART train station in Downtown Dallas. If God had answered that prayer any more specifically the train would run through the middle of the building — or maybe under the building as at the Cityplace/Uptown station.

Not only is it within walking distance of a rail station, it’s within walking distance of one of only four rail stations that all DART trains in Dallas run through. It doesn’t matter which train you get on, red, orange, blue, or green, they all pass through the West End station in Downtown Dallas, and that means they all pass the front door of Antioch Church.

The ambiance of the historic building is warm and inviting. Original hardwood floors flow from the entry into the worship center. Exposed beams, brick walls, and additional polished concrete floors add to the visual appeal of the space. The remodel on the first floor of this building has been exquisite.

This picture doesn’t do it justice. The Antioch Church worship center in Downtown Dallas is one of the most beautiful I’ve sat in.

But a building does not a church make. It’s the people. I found them to be friendly and easy to talk to. It is a racially diverse congregation, and that is by design. As Pastor Mark Brand explained, Antioch church in the Bible is the first church that was made up of a diverse group of people, and they wanted to emulate that in Dallas — hence the name.

There is a play area that looks like a place your children would be love to spend time. There is a coffee shop — which is also open during the week — that looks worth giving a try.

The sitting area in the Antioch church coffee shop in Downtown Dallas is warm and inviting.

The praise and worship was modern and easy on both the ears and spirit. Between praise and worship and the sermon there was an extended time of greeting and everyone was beyond friendly.

The modern worship service at Antioch Church was easy on the spirit and the ears.

It’s clear that Pastor Mark’s gifting is that of a teacher. No hell, fire, and brimstone preaching here. Just an expository look at the first chapter of Ephesians starting at the top and working through verse by verse. It felt much like a bible study.

Pastor Mark Brand is not a preacher, he’s a teacher with a gift for teaching the Bible and can do it in English, French, Spanish, and occasionally some Texan.

There were about 100 people in the worship center when I visited, but this is a church with a big vision and I have no doubt they will have a considerable impact on Downtown Dallas, as well as the world.

The congregation at Antioch Church is intentionally diverse with multiple ethnicities represented in both the staff and congregation.

At almost two-hours this service was a little long for my taste. Pastor Mark readily admitted he was long-winded in his preaching style. On the plus side it didn’t feel rushed, as some services do at churches that feel compelled to get people in and out by the appointed time. Seems like a happy medium could be found between those extremes.

If you’re in the area I suggest you check it out, and feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

It was a beautiful day in Dallas on Sunday. My best friend was in town from Australia. So after church I took her down to Klyde Warren Park – aka KWP – for a food-truck-lunch. Best Sunday afternoon I’ve spent in a while.

The Butcher’s Son

The Butcher’s Son food truck was next to the last one in the row of food trucks at Klyde Warren Park on Sunday.

Among all the food trucks in Dallas my favorite is The Butcher’s Son. Simply can’t be beat. I made my way down the row of trucks parked at KWP and was starting to get nervous thinking maybe they hadn’t made it. But then I found ’em. Next to last one in the row. I took my place in line and when at the window placed my usual order: 2 Mac-N-Beefies, BBQ chips, and a bottle of water.

Mac-n-Beefy

This picture doesn’t do it justice and neither does the description from their menu:

Braised beef, Baked Mac-n-Cheese square, BBQ sauce & Cheddar on a Brioche slider roll.

Think about it a minute. Who doesn’t like mac-n-cheese? Put that on top of some braised beef (think BBQ), drizzle with some BBQ sauce, slide it between a slider bun, and you’ve got magic. They’ve got a menu full of other options but there is no need. Mac-n-Beefy is where it’s at.

You need to let your taste buds experience this taste of Heaven. They have two trucks that can be found all over Dallas/Fort Worth and almost every day at Klyde Warren Park. To be sure check out their schedule, or as my Australian best friend says – shedule.

Asian Rice Bowl

Best friend doesn’t eat meat, and there are other options at KWP, so she stopped at Nammi for an Asian Rice Bowl with Ginger Soy Tofu. You’ll have to ask her about it since I’m not into tofu. I do know she liked it so well she tweeted about it and said she wanted another bowl the next time she’s in Dallas.

I’ve owned several iPhones over the last few years, and multiple cases to go with them. I hate cases. They take away from the beauty of the phone, but they are a necessary evil.

Hidden in this post is a 15% off discount code. Read carefully.

Last Saturday I dropped my iPhone 6S Plus, which I had carried for several months without a case, and when I picked it up the screen was shattered. I was sick. Immediately I knew I had to invest in another case as soon as I got the replacement, and I knew what case it would be.

I’ve had my eye on the Loopy for sometime. I first became aware of it in its Kickstarter phase. I wasn’t sure what iPhone I would own when they finally became available so I didn’t invest then.

Their product video sold me on the concept of a loop.

Have you ever laid in bed holding your phone and dropped it on your face? Guilty as charged.

Have you ever dropped your phone while trying to carry too much at one time? Guilty as charged.

Have you ever not taken a pic because you were in a precarious place and were scared of dropping your phone? Guilty as charged.

I also carry my phone while running. I’ve looked at various running cases and none of them suited me.

All of those scenarios have been resolved with one case. The Loopy.

Thanks to it’s patented loopy design the phone stays attached to your hand even when you lose your grip on the phone. I usually have it on my ring finger, but sometimes my middle, and it’s either on the first or second joint depending on what I’m doing. It took me about a day to adjust, but now my phone flips on my finger like a Ferris wheel. I’m no longer concerned about it crashing to the ground.

On Saturday, thanks to AppleCare and a three hour wait at the Apple Store, I replaced my phone. On Monday I ordered my Loopy case. On Thursday it arrived. I am now practicing safe phoning again.
