• Design Inspiration: I created this layout following the process and design from Week 2 of Clean & Simple the workshop.
• Color Inspiration: I just love turquoise, pink, and green. Seemed like I should use some favorite colors on a layout about our blessings!

When I am using a sheet of pattern paper to create a border around the page I hate wasting all that paper behind the top layer. So I often will cut out the center of the background paper. In this case I left a 1 inch border around the edges but cut out the center. Then I use some washi tape to attach the top layer to the background frame. Now I have the center piece of pattern paper to use again on another layout!

I love Cathy Z’s clean and simple design but I just can’t keep from adding a few embellishments, and of course washi tape! You know how I love washi!

I’m not usually one to mix color and black and white photos. But I loved the way it looked on Cathy Z’s example layout so I gave it a try. And it really turned out great! And now, here is the full layout again so you can read the journaling.

Having so much fun in this class! I’m a little behind on the assignments though. Hoping to have some time next week to get caught back up!

If you have spent much time here at Scrap Inspired you are well aware of my love affair with washi tape! What is washi tape you ask? Well it is a thin see through tape, similar to masking tape, except that its…well…PRETTY! The best part about it is that it is easily repositionable. Perfect for making using on all kinds of scrapbooking projects, but awesome for all sorts of decor projects as well!

Didn’t those frames turn out adorable? I seriously pulled this whole collection together in under 30 min! Love a fast and easy project!

• Design Inspiration: I loved these fun washi wall frames. For my take I wanted something more portable and kid friendly. Since I was going to be putting it on my fridge I knew my boys would move stuff around, making it difficult to put the tape directly onto the fridge.
• Color Inspiration: I chose some washi tapes that coordinate with the colors in my home. I also wanted the colors to be bright and fun.

First, gather your materials. As the base for my frames I used these cheap plastic magnetic frames found at most drug stores. To trim the tape I am addicted to these non stick scissors by Tim Holtz (linked below). And I also grabbed a handful of my favorite washi tapes…of course!

Begin by measuring how long your tape strip needs to be. I just eye ball it. Then trim the washi tape with your scissors.

For some designs I left the washi tape it’s full width. But for this design I needed a thinner strip of tape, so I cut it down the middle. The Tim Holtz scissors make this process SO MUCH EASIER! Because they are non stick the washi tape doesn’t…well…stick to them. You certainly can use regular scissors, but you may end up a bit frustrated.

On this frame I am creating a bit of a fancier design. I want to make loops in each corner. To do this place your strips so they cross at the corners.

Trim two small strips to complete the loop on each corner.

Once each frame is decorated with washi it’s time to add pictures. Most of my frames are 4×6 but I want the photo to sit inside the washi border. So I printed my pictures at 3×5. To keep the photo floating in the middle I added a bit of washi tape to the back of the photo to hold it in the frame.

One fun washi frame complete!

How happy do those washi frames look on my fridge? Makes me want to stand in front of the fridge all day. But I shouldn’t…cause that could be dangerous! The ice cream is now calling my name.

For this frame I added some blue tape on top of the orange tape. Love the effect!

Up until now I’ve done two weeks per spread. But this time I had one full week of activities and one week with almost nothing. So I focused on our full week, and just let the other one go. There’s no need to scrap every photo you take!

To create this panorama photo I used two apps: Camera + (my go to photo app) and AutoStitch. While in Camera + I  took multiple photos keeping the camera steady and moving in a straight line across the room. Then I opened AutoStitch, selected the photos I wanted to use and stitched them together. AutoStitch ends up a bit uneven around the edges, but you have an option to crop the photo within the app. You can take the photos directly in the AutoStitch app but I think the quality of photos taken in Camera + is much better. And I love the way the photo turned out!!

The event that we participated in during this week is called World Conference. Every 3 years our church holds a legislative conference to make decisions for the focus of our denomination. During this event we spend A LOT of time in church. We had a service every evening  and our boys got a bit tired of it all. So they took to drawing flags (which were hanging around the world). And my oldest wrote a bit about what happens during church. Made me laugh out loud when I saw it. Love having bits of ephemera like this included in my album.

We had lots of meals with friends. I loved the silverware stamps by Amy Tangerine and they seemed a perfect fit for this little collage. What a great week! What a great way to document that week! I just love Project Life!

• Design Inspiration: I love this layout by Susan Weinroth. The combination of large photo and several smaller pics inspired the design I used for my layout.
• Color Inspiration: The energy of the orange paper seemed like a perfect fit for these fun photos of my skateboarding boy.

I had a lot of fun with washi tape and this adorable arrow. Both just add to the energy of the layout.

These wood veneer pieces are a new addition to my collection and I am in love.  Perfect for a layout about a boy on the go!

We’ve been telling our son for years that he couldn’t have a skateboard until he was 8. So it was no surprise that he wanted nothing but a skateboard for his eighth birthday! And he even asked me to take some photos of him posing with his skateboard. How can a mom resist a request like that? I love the large photo so much I just had to keep it BIG! Love, love, love the way it all turned out.
