Be forewarned.... there are some exciting changes ahead!

Officially, Scrapbook Fanatic Retreats will be closing its 'doors' on December 31st of this year. And I must say, it has been an absolutely fabulous few years of retreats, crops, scrapping, crafting and making many new friends.

Don't be sad...

there will be still be retreats and crops to go to, keep reading!

In case you haven't heard already, there is a NEW scrapbook destination in Mission - Cherry Lane Scrapbook Shoppe Inc. All future events will be organized and presented by Cherry Lane... same people, new name, and we will still call them retreats for "scrapbook fanatics".

There are no events on the calendar just yet, but there will be...

we just need a little time to get settled in our new home.

We had an absolutely fantastic time as usual at the retreat last weekend, and seriously, either someone made weekends shorter without telling us, or we just had way too much fun... the weekend flew by that fast! There were lots of repeat offenders (*oops* I mean scrappers... hee hee) and some new faces as well. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of my scrappin' sisters (okay, not everyone was there, but quite a few) and welcoming some new ones into the fold too.

Thanks everyone for coming, I hope you had just as great a time as I did... and like I always say, I couldn't ask for a better group of women to spend the weekend with... and I mean it! Hugs to all :) Can't wait til April for the 4 day retreat!

Spring 2010 Retreat Photos

Well, it's taken me nearly two weeks, but I think I'm finally caught up on sleep and laundry! How's everyone else doing??? I had a simply fantastic time at the spring retreat, met so many fabulous and creative women, and did hardly any
actual scrapping as I was just doing so much chatting!

We had some great costumes for the Friday night costume contest - Mad Hatter's Tea Party - and we finally met Tracey's 'Bob' :) Choosing only one winner was pretty tough, but it was nearly unanimous, Mairi Forsyth as "The Mad Scrapper". Saturday was seriously a blur... there was chicken passing, photos, meals, page contests (great layout Shelly Forsyth!), Nose Hair and Naked 'Nana stories, 50/50 draws ( we raised nearly $300 ladies!!!) classes, prizes, massages, mani's and pedi's... it was time to go to bed waaaay too soon! And Sunday... I think I was bit zombie-ish on Sunday... must have had something to with being up til 4am:)

Thanks so much for coming out ladies! Can't wait to do it all again!

In this class we'll be embossing and diecutting with Cuttlebug folders and Spellbinders and getting a bit inky to create a crafty custom cover that you can re-use over and over on your square tissue boxes (box of tissue is included), also included is a matching card. Use this adorable box to dress up any room in your home or it makes a great gift too!

If you would like to take the class as a kit, step-by-step instructions with full-color photos are included to easily create the cover at home at your leisure. Kit includes Kleenex square tissue box, pre-cut papers, ribbon, embellishments, full color photos and detailed written instructions

In this class, we'll be creating a gorgeous showcase for a favorite family photo on a 12" x 16" canvas. We'll be doing some diecutting and embossing with Spellbinders, glimmer misting, painting, inking and distressing using the new "Gabrielle" line of papers from Bo-Bunny, along with embellishments from Prima Flowers, 7 Gypsies and We R Memory Keepers. The canvas features a 7.5" x 7" photo and is perfect for family and wedding pictures. This project makes a great Mother's Day gift too!

We'll be tearing and inking, playing with Spellbinders, Tim Holtz embossing folders and a cool resist technique to make 5 different cards, 2 of each design, for a total of 10 cards. All papers are pre-cut... you get to do all the fun stuff!

We'll be using the new " Hey Birdie" collection from Kaiser Craft to create this adorable mini album and matching decorative storage box! We'll be painting, inking, cutting, using rubons and border punches and cute little details to complete 7 double pages, plus cover and altered box... this will be a very " distressing " class ;-)

Crop Room Hours:

Friday - 3:00 pm to 2:30 am
Saturday - 8:30 am to 2:30 am
Sunday - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

The crop room is located on the ground level (no stairs!) and you can safely leave your supplies in the room for the entire weekend as the room will be securely locked at night

Meals Included:

Saturday - Lunch, Dinner and Snack
Sunday - Brunch

The hotel provides a Deluxe Continental breakfast for those staying overnight, generally consists of muffins, croissants, scrumpets, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, toast, egg patties, english muffins, coffee and tea. There is also an ABC Country Restaurant on site for a reasonably priced hot breakfast.

For those that wish to stay on site for the weekend, the price per room, per night is $99.99 plus taxes for 2 queen beds

A limited number of rooms are reserved at this rate, once the quota has been exceeded this rate will no longer be available, and the regular per night room rates will apply

Call for Class Instructors!

OPEN CALL for experienced class instructors for the upcoming retreat at the end of this month!

All classes will take place on Saturday January 22nd, with space for up to 10 participants per class. There are two open class spaces, which will be slotted into the schedule based on the length of each class.

Class parameters are completely up to the instructor, any and all ideas accepted! If you have a sample photo that's great, if not, that's okay too... please include a description, approximate measurements, and approximate time it will take to complete the project.

If you are interested in one of the spots, please email Leanne at scrapbookfanatic@hotmail.com with your ideas. Instructors will be chosen from all submissions received by midnight this Wednesday January 5th.
