100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas – Day 100!!

I can’t believe a whole month has gone by without a summer scrapbooking post from me! This was our most busy/crazy summer so far, and yet I can’t believe I have stayed on top of things and I even finished my August layout IN AUGUST ! It is all thanks to the awesome Project Scrap templates – they made my scrapbooking so easy this summer, and I love every new set! Here are the latest two layouts, from July and August. That will be all for summer scrapbooking ideas this year – now that the kids are back in school, I am ready to think about fall !

Then and Now Scrapbook Layouts {100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas! Day 69}

As we near the end of summer, I find myself looking for even more scrapbooking shortcuts to help me stay on top of this year’s photos. As my regular readers know, I am participating in “Project Scrap”, which challenges me to create at least one two-page layout per month. I am also working on last summer’s photos, which I never got around to scrapbooking. This month, I decided to try something new as I scrapbooked photos from both June 2011 and June 2012 for two separate scrapbooks. I used the same template, in fact almost the same exact designs, for both years! This not only helped me get both layouts done in record time, but it’s really fun to see them side by side as a “then and now”. The layouts will be printed in two different books, so it will be easy to compare them .

In case you’re wondering, they didn’t grow out of their glasses, but they have “transition” lenses now, which turn into sunglasses outside. I had them take off their glasses for these photos, because I didn’t like how the sunglasses hid their pretty blue eyes ! Here are the close-ups of the pages:

A Faithbook Idea for Father’s Day {100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas! Day 60}

As much as possible, I like to include faithbooking into my regular scrapbooks – to help remind myself of God’s goodness, and to teach my children about His love. On father’s day, I am especially reminded of God’s love for His children because it is reflected in the way my husband cares for our kids. The kids and I are so blessed by him!

This page was meant for the June challenge over at the Shabby Shoppe blog – oopsie! I am behind schedule, as usual this summer ! Hopefully I can get on top of things and get in on the July template challenge, due August 2nd. There are soooo many things in the shabby shoppe that I would love to buy if I win that $25 gift card !

Travel Scrapbooking Tips {100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas! Day 53}

Scrapbooking your summer travels? Here’s another scrapbook idea for you: take photos of the plants, flowers and other natural surroundings in your travel locations! People almost always take photos of the tourist attractions, but you may not think to take a photo of a tree or flower you wouldn’t see at home.

For my the Aruba vacation scrapbook I made back in 2003, I designed these scrapbook pages using photos, postcards and magazine clippings all showcasing the beautiful plants and landscapes of Aruba.

Be sure to document the names of the plants and where they were, if you can find out some information about them.

By-the-way, the postcard shown in the first image is inserted to a clear mini page protector I made for it. I didn’t want to attach it to the page, because it has some information about the cool Divi Divi trees found in Aruba. Finding time for scrapbooking in the summer can be quite the challenge, but these gorgeous digital scrapbooking templates, from the Shabby Shoppe blog have really helped me! I finished my May layout for Project Scrap today, now I just need to make one for June and I will be all caught up for 2012 – yippie!

Wishing my fellow Americans a wonderful Independence Day today! Here are some of my Fourth of July scrapbook layouts from July 2011. The kids and I were visiting family in Massachusetts, while Daddy was on a business trip overseas. As you can see, we had a great time! Too bad this year’s trip to see them was earlier in the summer. New England is a great place to celebrate America . I made this photo book with Mixbook, and used their “Stars and Stripes” theme. I am not usually a fan of the themes that come with photo books, but I have to say that this one was just perfect !

God bless the land that I love – I am so thankful for my country and my freedom!

Digital Scrapbooking Technique {100 Days of Summer Scrapbook Ideas! Day 25}

I’m home from an eleven day road trip vacation with my family – we drove through 14 states, plus some of Canada – about 3100 miles in all! Here’s my first scrapbook page about our travels !

Digital Scrapbook Technique for Blending a Photo with Background Paper:

Try blending a photo with digital scrapbook paper to create a unique background. First add a simple digital scrapbook paper for the background (TIP: it will look best if there is some texture, but not TOO much). Next, add the photo, stretching it to completely cover the background. Then, change the “blend mode” of the photo, by selecting an option in the pull-down menu above your layers pallet. For the above layout, I chose a waterfall photo set to the “overlay mode”. I also reduced the layer opacity to 60%. If your background photo isn’t large enough, try dividing it up like I did with mine – you only need enough to cover the visible parts of the background .
