Hello Friends!

Just wanted to share a quick post with you.

Catherine has a new kit out called Garden Of Remembrance. It seemed so fitting to use it for this photo of my father in law who we lost 2 years ago.

Scrapbooking for me is such therapy. When he passed I did up an album and a video to match. I shared it with family and friends at his funeral which of course was nice, however I really found that it helped me deal with his passing and felt like such a tribute to who he was and how we would always remember him.

I hope you will find some time in your day to enjoy our wonderful hobby and share it with others.

She's Baaaaack...

Hello all my fellow scrapbookers!
I know it has been awhile, I guess the personal life takes over every so often (I am sure you've been there) but my hobby is never very far from my heart or my thoughts. I had the pleasure to work with a new mini kit this week from CatDesignz and my creativity has once again been sparked into action.

Hi Everyone!
Hope you are all enjoying beautiful fall weather! We have had such lovely sunshine lately it feels like it will go on forever, but I know it won't last long! We enjoyed Thanksgiving here in Canada last weekend, but I know for many of my friends it is still to come and so the kit inspired by the holiday has arrived! Time for Scrapbooking and Friends

Good Morning!
After a long day at work yesterday I got home and decided to relax my tired feet! I sat on the couch with my laptop and put together a layout from a picture that I took last summer. I love this photo so much! It wasn't spontaneous (I asked the girls to go sit at the end of the dock), but it does convey the relationship the girls have with each other. They have known each other since my daughter was a baby and even though there is an age difference they have always gotten along. Their friendship will stand the test of time.

I used this layout to participate in a challenge at Scraps n Pieces. Each month they put up a list of different challenges. This one used kits from their Bits n Pieces line for June.

The kits are from Karen Diamond Designs (BFF Elements, BFF Extra Papers, BFF Grafitti) and Scrappiness Designs (Best Friends Forever Papers). The staple is from Wendy Tunison (35mm).

I hope this layout has inspired you to scrap one of your favorite moments of friendship. Until next time...

A Little Story of Memory Preservation

Good Morning Everyone!
It's shaping up to be a lovely day in my area! I hope there is some beautiful weather on the way for you too!
I just wanted to share with you a wonderful little podcast that I listened to a couple of days ago. I found it on Layout A Day with Lain Ehmann. She interviewed a lady by the name of Darien Gee who told her inspiring story of how she left everything behind, moved to Hawaii, and held onto the things in life she cared about most, forgetting about personal "things" to live the way she and her husband really wanted to live. She talks about how WE ARE ALL memory keepers in some fashion or another even if you don't consider yourself a scrapbooker! (Blasphemy! Just kidding, lol!) Have a listen (I found it to be lovely to listen to in the background as I was working on some pages) and then take a look at her wonderful paper scrapbooking photos below the podcast. Enjoy! Spring Is In The Air & Summer Is On The Way!

Hi Everyone!
Hope you have all been well. Things have been a bit crazy for me so a bit less time for scrapbooking & designing :( , but I found some time last week to do a couple of layouts featuring a few kits from CatDesignz.

This layout features items from the kit English Garden and the wordart is from Spring

I used photoshop basic shapes and clipped papers to them for a little something extra.

Eggcellent Easter - A New Digital Scrapbooking Kit

Hello Scrapbooking Friends!
I hope your Easter celebrations were wonderful last weekend. We had a very quiet Easter with just our immediate family and a very simple dinner. My daughter who is past the Easter Bunny stage, still requested an egg hunt so I watched her wander around collecting all of her treats that had been hidden for her. I am happy that she still has some child-like wonder left in her about things like that.

My Memories Craftables!

I thought that today I would tell you a little about a very exciting new product from CatDesignz and My Memories!
I have been playing around lately with craftables! What exactly is a craftable you might be asking? Well, simply put it is a template file used with the My Memories Program in which you lay out all of your design digitally and then print off pages on your home printer to create a masterpiece! In particular I would like to show off the brand new Mini 3D Photo Album I have just created! This is based on a design I have seen created several times in traditional paper piecing projects. The great thing about this is that once you have it created once all you need to do is print it as many times as you like for all the people you want to share it with! This is perfect for grandparents! (Did I mention that most of the work is already done for you because it's a template? Yup, that's right, pop in your pictures and your done! You can move things around if you want to but you don't have to which makes this super quick and easy!)

And it all ties together into a neat little package! (Perfect for dropping into the mail).

It's been awhile...

Hello fellow Scrapbookers!
I know it has been awhile since I have made a posting. I am actually a bit surprised at how much time has past. Busy, busy, busy. I know life must catch up with you just like it does with me. This year I have been trying my best to make sure I do the things that make life a bit easier, meal planning, setting time aside for all those things I said I would get to, but just haven't yet. So far I think I am getting on the right track. I find that my scrapbooking can be a bit like that too. When all of my supplies are a mess, pictures are not properly named and filed, it can be really difficult to get to and enjoy the thing we love to do most, scrapbooking our treasured memories! This year if you do just one thing, resolve to get those photos organized and set up a filing system for all your digi treasures! If you need some help with how to do that, I will be setting up an area on my blog with just that type of information for you, so stay tuned, or feel free to contact me. I am happy to help!
Speaking of digi treasures, I have some wonderful ones to show you from the world of CatDesignz.
The very latest kit I am going to show you is called "A Butterfly's Touch". This kit is full of beautiful vintage pieces, beautiful florals, and of course a few butterflys.

Memories of Dad

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to share with you today a little personal project of mine.
My father-in-law passed away this spring and so as part of his memorial I went about gathering photo's from everyone that I could and going through all our old photographs to pull together a slide show so that the family could look back on Dad's life and remember the man that he was all the wonderful times we had together with him. After the memorial I was able to gather a few more photographs to complete "his life in pictures" in order to print a hardcover album for us to enjoy for many years to come. This was true therapy for me as I was putting together the slide show for the memorial and now afterwards it brings me such joy to be able to look back on all these little moments that I and my family had with my father-in-law. Just one more reminder as to how important it is to keep bringing out that camera every chance you get, but more importantly get those photo's organised and scrapbooked. You just never know what turns life will take and how much you will appreciate looking back on those fond memories. Life is short, scrap it!

Betty White Memories and Friday Freebie!

Happy Friday Everyone!
I know I have been away for awhile, I am sorry I have left you all hanging!
We just got back from a trip to California so things were a bit crazy before we left and it has taken me a bit to get caught up now that I am home :)
I hope the past few weeks have been good to you and that you are ready to "scrap" with me again!
Another gorgeous little kit has been released again from CatDesignz. This kit is just full of beautiful florals, swirls, and frames. The colors are some of my favorites! Rich corals, vibrant greens, pretty peach and of course we can't forget orange! This fabulous little kit is called "Keep Calm & Be Thankful". I have a couple of layouts I have done with it, these ones are among my favorite pages now (and as you know, I have done A LOT of pages!)

These 2 pages feature some photos that we just took when we spent a bit of time visiting Madame Toussaud's Wax Museum in Hollywood, California. Betty White has me re-living fond childhood memories!
