Fun Fold Friday

So it is finally Friday! This week was killer and next week is already starting--lol! Off to Vegas for a trade show next week so I have been busy making projects for next week.

Today is the first Fun Fold Friday and to kick it off I went back to my videos and found one of my most popular projects the exploding box. I left all the embellishments off so you can see the base of the box.

In the coming weeks I will share cards, scrapbook layout out elements, and of course more boxes. I will usually show a finished item and then do a generic how to video so you can see how to put it together with out having to fight a ton of embellishments or patterned paper.

Be my Valentine Card

Hope you all are having a great day--I have a pretty quick and easy card to share to day. I had some scraps of K&Company paper and I simply hate to waste so I stated playing around and this is what I came up with.

It is simply an A2 card. The stamp is from SU called Sweet Cake. I heat embossed it and blotted the stamp before I put it to paper to give it a worn and tattered look. Once the heating was done I took a Cotton Candy CTMH marker and colored over the distressed areas and the icing of the cupcake. I stamped in HollyHock Red CTMH ink the sentiment from the same set. A little bit of black gorssgrain ribbon and done. Simple right!?!?

Two more things--

Today I have a video that I did for a quick and easy project for the upcoming holiday of love--but you can easy change the sayings to fit coworkers, school classes and teachers, and all of your friends. Not only do they get a fun fortune but a sweet treat

Simple Sympathy Card

It's Thursday--and what a week it has been. A week ago I attended a funeral for a close friend and wanted to make a card to send to his mother to just let her know I was praying for her. As I started to design the card I found this great pattern paper in my very large stash. DCWV has a stack called Serenity is very nice and has a lot of masculine patterns and colorations. I thought it was the perfect mix of soft with the flowers and the masculine with the neutral colors.

The base of the card is cream card stock, layered with a mint green stock that I ran through the cuttlebug using the leaves folder. I attached the chocolate satin ribbon before I layered the pattern paper to the card.

I did ink the edges of the mint green to give it a little definition.

The sentiment is a two parter; one for the outside one for the inside. I used the Card Chatter-Sympathy (D1476) which is available in the just released Close To My Heart idea book. I used the same layer pattern from the card base and stamped the sentiment in chocolate ink on white card stock.

Here is the inside and second half of the sentiment. I always have a hard time with sympathy cards but find that if I keep it simple my results are always good.

Quick and Easy Double Page Layout

It's Thursday and I am counting down to Friday. Today will be very busy and filled with lots of emotion--more on that later. If you have followed my blog of a while you will know that one of my secrets is KITS! Yes I admit I love me a good layout kit. They are usually fast, all the bits and bobs are in one place, and you can spend more time on the personalization than the layout--cause the best part about a kit is putting your unique spin on it.

This fun kit is from Out on a Limb Scrapbooking--the kit only cost $6.00. All the bits were cut and sized for the most part. The kit included few instructions but a very clear picture. At their sight they have tons of layout kits as well as a bunch of Chalk Ink colors for $1.99 and a ton of ideas!

So for the cupcakes I added some bling with glitter. The top layer was sent through my zyron upside down and than glittered with MS gold glitter. The under layer was prepped the same but I used a super fine clear glitter.

So for the balloons, I used a PBD leopard background stamp (a two step stamp) for the pattern. I first stamped the first layer in a like color tone to the paper. Once dry I stamped the second layer with versa mark ink and than applied fine embossing powder and used my heat gun to set. I love a good heat embossed accent.

For the photo mats I wanted to make them pop a little so I inked the edges and sent them all through the cuttlebug with the same embossing folder. One of the photo mats had a little bit of ribbon that was also supplied in the kit materials.

I hope you like the layout--and go check them out--they have TONS of fun layouts and if you like scrapbooking and are sort on time you can get a whole scrapbook for about $72 and say 10 hours of putting them all together--for a priceless gift or memory book--I think its a great deal!

A B C's of Love layout

It's Friday and I am back at work after two day of being shut up due to strep! I hate being sick. Not back to 100% but I have to get back to work!

I have a fun single page layout to share with you today.

The letters are from K&Company as are the papers used along the side.

As I arranged the letters I wanted to hide a message of sorts--so I used pop dots on the I, Love, U so that it stood out .

I used a distressing tool on the paper edges to give the pink and red papers a bit more of an edge. I like how these papers with the rough edge and a black and white photo will tie together! The photo could be holding hands, a kiss, the back of to heads a hug in shadow--the possibilities are endless.

So I used the Art Philosophy cartridge and the stamp set I gave away last week for the tickets. The February ticket was heat embossed with ruby embossing powder and edged in black. The journal ticket I used my own hand writing and it says, "26 letter is all I have to tell you how much I love you!"

Mustache-ulations card with Pink by Design

So here is a project for today and I have another for Thursday and Friday!! so make sure to comment on each post for your chance to win this weeks CTMH stamp set Jubilation (D1457)

This was a super simple card and out of my comfort zone. I have never just stamped a card but when I say the Mustaches set from Pink By Design I knew this was going to be one of the first cards I made.

I used the old standard Roy G Biv to get my color order, and I simply stamped on a white A2 card.
On the inside I used a punch from Fiskers (which I think I use way more than any other punch I own) and stamped the sentiment in blue. Super Simple!!!

2012 Sketch Calendar

Morning everyone--as you can see the blog got a face lift over night. With help from The Cutest Blog On The Block I now have a brighter fun blog backdrop that is easy to read and have a few of my fav things.
Orange and Grey are two of my most worn and purchased colors, and a great top note header and blog button. Make sure you pick up the new button to the right--this will get you extra entries in the BIG February give aways.
Now TCBOTB (the cutest blog on the block) has back grounds you can get for free but they also offer a full service design and install. I did the second as I am not computer savvy and the whole code thing I get lost on!

Hello everyone--so a funny thing happened last week. I was in NYC for market and had done all the posts and pictures, planned them to go live, and was all set to have videos and projects for you all last week. Well when I am in Market, I have little to no time to check my personal email let alone blog so it was brough to my attention that no posts had gone live. Calendar Stamp Sets

We have made it to the first Friday. I am in NYC today and looking forward to a weekend in the city--this first weekend of the year is always a slow one here in the city so it should be enjoyable.
I want to share some great stamp sets that will come in handy as you track your year.

This set is from PINK BY DESIGN and is called It's a Date--I used this on the card from Tuesday. If you have not tried PBD stamps you need to--I love them and bought many sets before I was on the design team--they stamp great from the moment you open the package.

This set is a CTMH stamp of the month set from last November and this weeks give away--each month has its own stamp and can be easily cut out or you can use the ticket cut from the Art Philosophy Cartridge and get a very cool look for your layouts and cards.

This CTMH set is called Month by Month (C1425) and is available in the current idea book and can be found on line by clicking my store link to the right--while you are there check out another set called Save the Date. That set has 80 stamps and comes in English, French, and Spanish!

This set I love--it is an older set from CTMH and is called Happy Holidays (D1431) Each holiday has a fun image and there are curved sentiments that go to each holiday. You can find this set on ebay or ask you CTMH rep to see if they can get a hold of one for you.

This Festivities (D1321) set is also from CTMH. I found this on on line from another rep. I had never seen this one and loved the line drawings--I have a project next week to share using this set, my day timer, and light brown ink--you can make stamping part of every aspect of life if you try hard enough. LOL

CTMH also did a long term calendar set called Moments in Time (D1339) this one has all the months borders, symbols as well as the years from 2000-2015 so you can actually go back in time and use this stamp over and over and over. This one is not to old and your rep might be able to get their hands on this one pretty quick--this one you will get a lot of use out of.

This set is an out of the box way of tracking the date--each stamp has a different shape and way of displaying the date. CTMH did it again with this On this Day (D1468) It is not in the current idea book but was in the last one so there might still be a few floating around. I use this one a lot!!
Last but not least---
January's stamp of the month is another great way to track the date--with a purchase of $50 you can get this set for $5 or alone it is $17.95

This set is ONLY available this month! It has so many uses and can not wait to add this set to my collection.

It's Thursday of a short week but boy has it been busy! I am off to NYC this afternoon for a week on business and can't believe my travel has already started for 2012.
Today I want to share some great scrapbook papers that make building calendar layouts quick and easy. These were all purchased in the last few weeks in stores in KC and Dallas so you should be able to find some of these if you have an Achievers near. Holy Cow--it is hard to believe that we have stated another year and we are off and running. There is so much I want to share with you all. I have some very cool (at least I think they are) things planned for this year including a blog face lift, a weekly give away, and lots more layouts!!!!

Christmas | Forward this Picture

It's Christmas Eve and I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very wonderful and safe holiday season. No matter what you celebrate remember that the gifts, the gatherings, and all the hustle and bustle are not what makes this holiday special. Take a moment to enjoy the people and center on the true reason for the celebration.

Thank you for making this blog experience rewarding. Two years into this and it is still enjoyable. This is a wonderful community of paper crafters and I am so lucky to have been able to meet so many of you all.

I have some exciting things planned for 2012 for the blog and myself and I am looking forward to sharing them with you all. As I sign off for 2011 and headed on a much needed and over due vacation I want to say thank you one last time before the year ends. May you be blessed this holiday season!

Fun Fold Gift Card Directions.

OK--I know this is late but I have been having a ton of issues posting and it is not making me happy!
So here is a step by step so bookmark this page as you will want to keep this one in your wheel house.

First off cut a pc of paper that is 11" long and 4 1/2" wide
Next score three times starting from the left hand side at 3", 5 1/2", and 8"
See the picture fore measurements.

on the outside of the card I applied red line tape as above. I would suggest using the thinnest tape you have as you don't want the gift card to get stuck. Peel off the red line and ally the two center sections together.

Next, open the card and trace the gift card shape onto the center section. Once that is complete you are ready to cut out the traced portion

Once that is complete you can insert your gift card

so you this is what it looks like laying flat, and standing up.

Gift Wrapping of sorts with Cricut Art Philosophy

TGIF! Thank God It's Friday-what a week. If you all only knew what all has been going on--good lord did it get me to the end of my rope!
Well today I have a gift wrap with cricut art philosophy cartridge. I made this for my sister Heather--thus the H.

I got the can at Joann's and the paper is MAMBI Christmas pad.

The monogram is cut at 3.5" and is cut in two layers a black out and a top layer.

The band was made with my Fiskers punch and a strip of patten paper. Super simple and so much more fun than a wrapped package.

Snowflake Gift Bag with Cricut Snowflake tag

Well--first off sorry to my email subscribers and blogger did not post like planned again! UGH so you all will have two post for Friday.
OK on to the gift bag---

So i found this bag at Joannes and thought this would be perfect. We don't usually get snow in Dallas this early and this year is no exception--not a flake in sight, which is why I think I love snowflakes now. No clean up, no mess roads, just pretty glittery flakes on packages.

So this one is three layers. I used the Cricut Snowflake Seasonal cartridge and cut the shadow and the top layer at 4 1/2" for the white "black out" layer i just cut the shadow at 4 3/4". I did find that there was a definite top and bottom to this cut which sort of made me crazy when I thought this was going to only take a few minutes. Once I figured it out it went super fast. I used some fun white glitter paper and a shimmer navy I had in my scrap bin. I used a white/clear button for the center . The to/from stamp is from PBD and the shape of the tag is a Fiskers punch.

What I really love is the 3D effect of this gift tag. I only attached the top layer in the center and the other two layers were stacked with foam squares. I used some thin ribbon to attach it to the bag and once the gift is opened you can snip the ribbon a bit and have a great ornament for the tree.

Tonight is the office holiday party with a tropical theme. Its been raining here in Dallas for a couple of days so it should be interesting as there is sand and rain involved--LOL. I hope you are having a good week and we will see you back here on Friday!
