Some Sundays' are for road trips

and visits to see the family.

My mom & sis live about a 5 hour drive from me

and I breezed through the day for a visit with my mom

on my way up through north Alabama for an audit trip for the week

and

treat my momma to dinner at her fav restaurant, Carrabba's.

PLUS

lovin' my new Canon DSLR!!!

[treat to self on Friday from a great deal at Best Buy
and a free camera bag makes for a better deal too :)]

So, I've been on a new music high lately

and it does inspire my style and a lot of

what I'm thinking & creating in my art.

Sometimes that mental process of creating that is unexplainable.

Really.

Well, some songs just leave you speechless.

whether with current situations, past...

yet

maybe so powerfully [simple].

but intense.

I'm a big fan of the style of Jason Mraz' music.

Reminds me of sitting back & relaxing it up
& enjoying + pure reflection.

ok, I'm back on the CHA kick

[maybe because my brain is thinking how it will be EPIC

and just magical. I didn't even know she could sing!

[Yeah, I'm inspired by ALL types of music.]

has a new album that is another.gotta.have.

Plus,

Well....

HOLY GOSH!!!!

Today, I received an email from

Scrapbook Trends telling me that

one of my FIVE mini albums that will be published in the

Create: Mini Albums - June 2012

was selected for

THE COVER

of the magazine!

Basically, my face was like that kid

from "Home Alone". Ha!!

This is TRULY an honor & very humbling to receive such an

INCREDIBLE and unbelievable (really) gesture!

[yes, I had tears in my eyes reading that email]

I will have a special feature inside the cover with my

"selfie" pic + write-up as well along with my other

4 minis' throughout this issue!

I am BEYOND grateful and just as I always say

"live everyday creatively"

in some way and ALWAYS believe in yourself.

[even when others may hate/put you down].

Cliche but I could not breathe without some form of art

and have always lived my life this way.

Beautiful to have "daily affirmations" coming true... :)

and really seeing a bright light in my 2012 OLW (one little word). OPEN.

I can't believe CHA is winding down?

SO MANY new releases at this show, it all

completely blows the mind!!

But

how fun when all these new releases start

hitting it up at your local scrapbook stores & online stores!

Always an EXCITING time of the year.

Ok, well, now to the FULL reveal of my project sneaks

created for the Simple Stories booth at CHA

Personally, "the boy" [aka the Gilbert] debuting here

he THINKS he now needs an agent

+ I should pay him royalties for use of these pics...

[correction: I won't ad lib here what I'm thinking...]

Let's just say, I've warned him he needs to learn some new moves.

For now, maybe he has a "little bit" of talent.

Aside from being pure humor...he's quite a cool soul!

Amazing embellishments in this collection!

I took this title work "up a notch" in popping in

some K&Co Smash tape, "really really really",

and adding a stamped phrase, "that warrants a fist pump"

Ha!

I really wanted a "pop disco" effect to this page

and added in some white paint mist along with the glitter alpha for the title work "Hey Mr. DJ!"

And what is a collection without some FUN bingo cards?!

Love this "rockstar" bingo card found on one of the 12x12 papers

rocked & went a bItsY crazy with some

"free motion stitching"

One of those techniques where the messier the better!

I'm really lovin' this technique lately!

Ok, the TOTAL intention was to post on Sunday my

Simple Stories "Fabulous" collection projects

BUT

I had a NEW project to start for Gauche Alchemy

and the creative wheels were spinning all day Sunday

and

I just couldn't stop

[you have to have days like that, know what I mean?]

I have that project finished for my February video tutorial

coming soonnnnnnn...

I'll share up some sneaks here later this week! :)

I have a few finished touches to put on the iMovie video edit

and then off to the Gauche writers for the reveal in February. :)

Anyhoo, as you heard me speak of enough around here,

CHA is seriously underway....all the creative peeps

are buzzing the show floor

and things are just SUPER quiet over on the Facebook

and that's a sign all are buzzing around the

latest & greatest happenings!

I'm so excited to hear the reactions trickling in for

Simple Stories and the love for the new collections!

So, without further jibber chat, here's my FULL

This border section on the edge is not patterned paper but

LOTSA' stamps "doodled up" randomly mixed & mashed here. 

Just working in the parallel to the 

title of the layout "Doodle Girl". (yep, get it - wink wink)

[by the way, this is a photo of my cousin, Mocha, with my momma doodling and drawing back in the day when she was little - I think she was 4 or 5 years old]

Tick Tock...CHA officially opens doors TOMORROW...

Taken by the lovely Stephanie Hunt (Bella Blvd).

Last minute touch-ups are happening on the booths.

The last nails are being hammered in.

Decorations to showcase product are being displayed so meticulously.

All the display boards and design team samples have arrived in crates and being assembled "just-so" on walls and shelves.

This is the EPIC "Christmas" for artists, scrapbookers,

mixed media lovers', painters', bead lovers', and just so much

to the imagination in the world of arts will be happening up

under this convention center roof in sunny Anaheim, California.

I remember my first CHA show and I thought I would drop to my

knees at the entrance...

it was better than all of Charlie's chocolate in

"Charlie & the Chocolate Factory".

[which literally was my fav fav movie growing up,

for some weird reason that book was on repeat on my library card]

Maybe because this boy of little means had such big dreams

and compassion for his family.

Well, CHA is rather a parallel in so much eye "candy" to the

imaginations and just literal dreams that have come true

in product development and now the final product/prototypes

are on ready for the world to see!

Many come from near & FAR for this show!!

{and the January show is larger than than the July show]

so, BIG DEAL, for those new to hearing all about this hype!

Also, for those attending, don't forget there is an

iPhone app to locate all the booths and plan your walking feet

to the max because those "puppies" will be screaming at the

end of the day. Ha! :)

all the work that goes into the "behind-the-scenes"

from scratch process before the BIG day tomorrow

when all is nice, organized & pretty. :)

which I LOVE & the neutral tones really add so much possibility to spice it up with some color

myStampBOX // Color Challenge: Ocean Tide & Lilacs

Hi All!
Wendy here to share up a beautiful Color Challenge for you for myStampBOX!

I find a lot of inspiration in color, patterns, and beautiful quotes….over at Pinterest. This color challenge I picked up over there with some beautiful palettes & images linked up in this post. I live near the beach (only 30 min+ to be exact) so the color of the ocean is just so soothing & relaxing. I also love purple and lilacs are one loveliest of flowers (in my opinion) along with orchids (I likey like too) and roses….ok, yep, I love flowers. (wink wink)

So, using this inspiration & some fabulous myStampBOX stamps, here’s my color challenge project share -

“Go. Go. Go. See”

12×12 Layout

Now for some details…

A few months back, Canvas Corp so generously blog hopped with us on the myStampBOX design team. Unfortunately, I was out of town on vacation to NYC and couldn’t do the hop but was itching to use these super cool mini canvas shapes on a project – i.e. hearts, circles, ATCs – so many possibilities!! So, I used these with some Ranger Distress Stain + water to create the effect on these canvas shapes. I just love the watercolor & splotchy effect to them. Also, I used the myStampBOX set, Seal It, on the corner of the canvas heart. I stamped it using Staz-On black ink. The peek of embossed metal tin you see I embossed with my Big Shot Sizzix machine + embossing template + metal tin foil.

On a side note, these photos are inspired from my travels – NOLA (New Orleans), Italy (Torino), and Florida (Destin)….love travel and to “go go go see” the world…near & far.

Here I also used the Ranger Distress Stain + water again along with a heat tool and some parts of this I just allowed to air dry. Such a beautiful & dreamy effect. Stamped up with Seal It and Road Trip stamps. Also, I accented with some coordinating bling, brads, and clear dewdrops.

Using some large chipboard letters (deep in my stash – ha!) along with some different colors of mist in blue & purple for the effect on this page. Stamped (“you are here”) above the mini photo with the set Road Trip. I repeated the “go go” with the alpha set, Rough Copy. Such a fun alpha set you can leave as outlined or color/fill in.

with all these new releases!

Well, as mini album designer for Bella Blvd,

I'm kinda' lovin' these new alphas...

it's like Stephanie just loves us too much

maybe she can read minds,

because we on the team kinda' "hinted" that we would LOVE some

more different alphas & in mini versions

and

look what "magically" happened....

This reveal today was TRULY hard to keep under wraps,

lock & key, and without squeaking a peep...

and since I'm a MAJOR mini book lover

this one was BEYOND the jaws of death to keep secret.

Beginning today, Monday, January 23 through Thursday, January 26 we have a new collection we'll be revealing each day and we can't wait to show you all that we've been working on!

We're starting our first reveal with something BIG...the new chapter for Simple Stories! It's been something we have been working on behind the scenes for quite awhile and have always wanted to do since the launch of Simple Stories! And the time has finally came when we can share these new memory-keeping tools with our wonderful customers...we hope you're as excited about it as we are!

An all-inclusive mini-album system that allows you to share your story your way, including:

{MIX & MATCH 6x8 ALBUM} This 6x8 Kraft chipboard D-ring album is absolutely beautiful...and super strong and sturdy so you can load your memories inside! It features a wonderful linen spine with decorative book plate label on the spine, and ultra thick chipboard with a Kraft cardstock covering (no naked grey chipboard here), so you can leave as is for quick and easy crafting or decorate to your hearts desire! It also inlcudes tons of goodies inside so you can create a one-of-a-kind keepsake, including album pages, chipboard dividers and a variety of 6x8 divided page protectors!
