Recycle Your Junk Mail and Make this Valentine Card

Who knew that junk mail could make such a pretty card? Me! I did! I often get a piece of junk mail and think, hmmm, that would make a pretty card! That's just how my brain works! *wink*

This card was the end product of one of those occasions. I opened the mail box, started sifting through the pile of mail and BAM, a pretty pink holographic envelope. I immediately thought to myself, I could make a card out of that!

Here is the envelope I'm talking about. I'm sure that not everyone thinks like I do, but if you love paper and you use it in your hobbies somehow, you might just think "hey, I can use that!" Of course it has lots of words and such on there that would not be pretty on a card, so I had to figure out how to make it work.

As you can see here, I cut it into thin strips along with a few other pieces of printed scrap papers from my stash of scrap pieces of paper.

I used my Spellbinders Nestabilities Heart Shaped Dies (this is the largest heart you see here) and traced my heart shape onto a piece of kraft paper. The kraft paper is sturdy enough to hold the end design I have in mind.

Next, I laid out my pre-cut strips and then used my ZipDry glue to adhere them tot he card stock.

After waiting about 10 minutes to make sure the glue was good and cured, I laid the card stock on my Cuttlebug, lined up the heart die and ran it through about three times to make sure it was cut all the way through. There is a lot of paper stacked up here.

Perfect and it is really prettier than I expected! Of course, pictures don't do the papers justice.

Next I used the largest heart in my Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Heart Shaped Dies to cut out a piece of glitter paper to back up my paper strip heart I just made.

I added 3/4" mounting tape to the back of the paper strip heart so it would give it a little lift when I placed the whole thing onto the card base. Peel off backing papers and adhere to the glitter heart.

For the word LOVE, I used my LawnFawn "love" die and a little scrap of the same glitter paper. I also cut one out of the kraft paper as well just to give it a bit more sturdiness.

I used more of my ZipDry glue to adhere the heart to the card base and then I embellished it with ribbon, tulle and a flower, once again using my ZipDry glue to adhere it all. I used my Xyron Sticker Maker to adhere the word love together and then to adhere it to the card base.

It turned out way prettier than I pictured in my head, its just simple and sweet and best of all, I recycled to create it! YAY!

Simply Awesome Father's Day Cards

Hi there! Its one week until Father's Day, are you ready? I'm going to be honest, even though I've had the cards made for a while, I have no idea what to get my Daddy for Father's Day!? What do you get a man that has everything? lol!

After I made all my personal Father's Day cards, I made a few for my Etsy shop and the one above was one of them. Since I'm a bit slow posting these on my blog, its already gone! A few of them didn't last too long on there.
This is made using my Cricut for the letters and some Lawn Fawn stamps, Aloha, Flamingo Together and Duh-nuh. I have such fun with these stamps. By the way, I get all of my Lawn Fawn goodies at Hallmark Scrapbook and Crafts. They have the BEST customer service and a sale that calls for stocking up here and there. Check 'em out and tell them DeeDee sent you!

This is the one I made for my Daddy. He has a camper and they love to go camping, so this card is perfect for him and I do like the way he rolls! These are also Lawn Fawn Stamps, Happy Trails and the clouds are Cricut Hello Kitty.

This card is for my oldest son that just became a first time Daddy in April! He is truly a jawsome Dad! This is a Lawn Fawn set called Duh-nuh. I love that name! lol! The letters and sun are Cricut.

These next two are really plain and very masculine I think. I simply used strips of coordinating papers and some letters from Cricut to make this one in shades of green. It's listed in my Etsy shop.

Same here, just used blues and added a sentiment using my printer. This one is listed in my Etsy shop.

This last one is the same design, but its in red, white and blue and I added a few Lawn Fawn stamped cars from the set called Home for the Holidays. The puffs of smoke are from the Happy Trails set. This card too was for sale in my Etsy shop, but its already gone! Zoom!!! I always offer FREE shipping in my Etsy shop, so please visit me sometime.

Handmade Teacher Appreciation Cards

It's that time again! The school year is almost gone and you'll want to be sure and thank your child's teacher for all their hard work this year. I have created a few different cards for my Etsy shop.

This design is one I found on Pinterest last year and it was a best seller, so I used it again this year, just different papers. So cute! See all the details about that HERE.

This design I also found on Pinterest. It's adorable! I used my Cricut for the die cut and a Paper Smooches stamp for the sentiment.

And lastly, one more design I found on Pinterest. This one uses a vintage Kim Hughes stamp for the apple and the thanks. NOTE: Of course when I use other peoples designs, I always put my own twist on the card but if you'd like to see any of the original cards, please check out my "I LOVE IT" board on Pinterst.

Mother's Day Cards for the Kitty Lover

Hello there! Does anyone send greeting cards anymore? What about handmade cards? I would love to get a handmade card in the mail! I feel like this fun ritual of sending cards for special occasions has dwindled since I started all this back in 2007, I think it was.

Anyway, I still make them and put them in my Etsy shop and on a rare occasion, someone will purchase one. It's still very fun for me and as I said on Instagram a few days ago, it's like a therapy session for me when I sit down and create cards.

These cards were all created using the LawnFawn stamp set called "Meow You Doin'" and of course its all about cats as you can see. My favorite part of using the LawnFawn stamps is the little die cuts that you can get for each set to cut out each stamp beautifully. Love it!

The card above is NOT for sale because its for MY sweet mama! I used my Cricut Expressions machine and the Cuttin' Up cartridge to cut out (at 1" each) the letters, Everything else is from the stamp set.

I still use my Copic markers to color my stamps with and no, I'm still not really good at it, but hey, its FUN!

The card above is listed in my Etsy shop if you're interested. I also used my Cricut for the letters, but these have the shadow feature used as well. The inside reads: Wishing You A Pawsome Day.

This card is also for sale. It's a Z fold card and is just a bit more interesting than the standard folding card I normally make. The letters were also cut using my Cricut, but they are cut at 1 1/4" this time.

Elephant Wish Big Birthday Card

Hello! I recently got the Elphie Selfie stamp set by Lawn Fawn and I just can't stop making cards with it! This sweet little guy is ready to wish that special someone a happy birthday with his balloon, birthday cake and a big wish!

I used the Elphie Selfie stamp set and the die cuts that go with it to create my card. I purchased mine from Hallmark Scrapbook. They offer A+ customer service and speedy shipping too!

First I stamped all my images on white card stock, then colored them with my Copic markers and then used the die cuts to cut them all out.

I used my Nesties to cut out the circles that the die cuts sit on. I stamped the wish big directly onto the white circle. Lastly I used some foam tape to pop up the elephant, his balloon and the cake. The heart is glued directly to the white circle.

Sweet Little Frog Prince Card

On the off chance you didn't already know, I make cards (well you already knew that, duh!) and I sell them in my Etsy shop. I give some away to family and friends too, but mostly I just love to sit and use my scraps to create little one of a kind works of art and then they pile up and that's why I have an Etsy shop!

Making cards is seriously like therapy for me. I zone out without a care in the world and just create. Love it! I've had this little frog stamp forever, no really, forever! I came across him the other day and decided he needed to be on a card.

I colored him with my Copics of course and and then cut him out using my Nesties. Isn't he the sweetest? I decided to add some jewels to his crown, he is a prince after all! Ha!

Thank You For Owl You Do

This little card is designed using one of my favorite things to do, to use scraps out of my scrap bin. The fun part for me is sitting in the floor with my giant sized bin and pick out papers that I think go together. Love that!

Another favorite of mine is using the clear stamps from The Cutting Cafe' Shop. Regina has recently added stamps to her store that are just adorable, please go check them out for yourself HERE.

This little owl and the greeting is from a set called From Owl of Us and it is so versatile when it comes to card making. I added google eyes to the owl for a little bit of extra fun.

To create this 5 1/2" x 4 1/4 sized card, I used of course scrap papers, my Nesties, Regina's stamps and a few sequins. I used my Copic markers to color the owl.

Since its a rainy day here today, I think I play in my craft room and see what else I can come up with.

Teacher Appreciation Thank You Card

Its almost time for teacher appreciation week. Do you have some fun goodies for your kiddo's teachers? I have some sweet cards and bookmarks in my Etsy shop if you need them!

Who doesn't love an apple for a teacher card? I found the idea for this little card while searching Pinterest. I had to create my own. See the original card HERE. Thank you Debby!

I used my Cricut Expression machine to cut out the word teacher using Locker Talk and also for the apple. The circle is cut using my Nesties and then I used my sweet friend Regina's stamp set called From Owl of Us to stamp the thank yous all the way around the circle. The stamps are clear acrylic so I just bent the stamp to stamp in a circle. Loves it! Go look at all the lovely stamps Regina has HERE!

Another Punny Birthday Card

This sweet little card is exactly why my blog is named Scrappin' with DeeDee. I love to use paper scraps to create my cards, its my favorite!

I just sit in the floor, pull out my scrap bin (its huge) and I start laying papers out that go well together. Most times I'll gather enough scraps for two or three cards and then I start creating my cards. Sometimes I change my mind.....a lot! LOL!

I used a Paper Smooches stamp from Birthday Buddies to make this card. I colored the images with my Copics and then added some glitter with my Wink of Stella brush. Love that brush!

Sweet, Bright and Happy Birthday Cards

I was looking at the inventory in my Etsy shop the other day and noticed that I needed to stock up on my birthday card selection. I went and grabbed several of my birthday stamp sets from my collection and just so happens, I started out with Paper Smooches Birthday Buddies stamp set. Keep reading to find out why that is so AWESOME!

I love these punny little stamps. They are all so adorable!

This cute little bird is my favorite out of all of them though! I always use my Copic markers to color the stamps and of course that's always lots of fun too! I used my Nesties to cut out the ovals. There is a layer of foam tape between the white and pink oval for dimension.

This card is a standard sized card measuring 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. I used a distressing method on the edges of this card that I havent used in ages. I actually used a fingernail file to distress it all the way around. See how it gives a white border on the very outer edge?

Next up is this cute little pup. I love how he had a patch around his eye. He says, "Happy Bark Day!" This card is also a standard sized card measuring 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.

Again I colored him with my Copics and then used my Nesties to cut out the ovals.

This card is way simpler than the birdie card, but I think sometimes simple is better. They look so crisp and clean when they are simplified.

Paper Smooches, Kim Hughes to be more specific, that's who designs these cute stamps I used to make these two cute cards.

Turns out after I had posted the puppy card to my IG feed I noticed that Paper Smooches was having a contest where you can win $50 credit to the PS store or be a featured designer! How cool is that? It never hurts to try, so here I am, throwing my hat in the ring. Wish me luck!

Owl Always Love You Card Using The Cutting Cafe' Stamps

Owls are my current obsession so when I saw this sweet set of stamps featuring owls, I had to have it!

This darling pair of owls are from a set of stamps from The Cutting Cafe Stamps called From Owl Of Us. So much cuteness in this stamp set!

I used 3 different stamps on this card. I used my Nesties to cut them out after I colored them with my Copic markers. The pink heart paper is from Lawn Fawn, the heart shaped pearls are from Michael's and the crinkle ribbon is from my stash.

I Love You Puzzle Card Using The Cutting Cafe' Stamps

Here's another card I made for my Etsy Shop using The Cutting Cafe' Stamps. Isn't this puzzle the cutest?

The 3 stamps I used to make this card are from a big set called February 14. All of Regina's clear stamp sets have several stamps to choose from in each set. It's quite the bargain for your money!

The background paper I used on this card is the inside of a bill envelope. I love doing that! The red, black and white combo are my favorite for Valentine's Day cards.

I used a few prima flowers topped with a heart shaped pearl and then a few little vinyl hearts stickers I had left over from another project I made on my house blog..... > Link to the right! Lastly I hand stitched around the edge of the card with embroidery floss for a special touch on this sweet card.

Bee Mine Card Using Lawn Fawn Stamps

Hi there! I'm back with another Valentine's Day card that I've added to my Etsy shop. I have some really good deals over there right now. This is a new card that I made this year using the Lawn Fawn Bee Mine stamp set. That bee is so sweet, isn't it?

The paper is also from Lawn Fawn as well. It's from a 6 x 6 paper stack called Let's Polka, Mon Amie.

Love You Tons by Lawn Fawn

Hello there! Have you started making your Valentine cards yet? As you can see, I have! I got this little stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Love you tons. I love elephants, so when I saw it, I had to have it!

Not only do I love this sweet little elephant stamp set, but the best part is that is also has the cutting dies too! They are called Love you tons lawn cuts. Makes card making so much easier!

This is a standard 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card. I colored my elephants with my Copic markers (love those things!) Next, I used white card stock for the base and some pink polka dot paper for the background. I then cut out a heart in white with my Nesties, stamped the love you tons sentiment and a few tiny hearts, added it to the card with foam tape and added my elephants on foam tape for dimension. Lastly I added a hot pink bow and I was done with my very first Valentine Day card of 2016!

Let's Go Camping and Let it Snow

We love camping in our little camper and I love this little camper and car stamp set by Lawn Fawn....OhMyGoodness! The stamp set is called Happy Trails and I also have the die cuts to go with it.

I made this one this year. I colored this set in shades of blue and made it look as if it was a night scene. I've been seeing these night scenes around this year and wanted to try it myself. I used my new stamps from The Cutting Cafe' Stamps for the sentiment and also some snow flakes in white for the background. I apologize, but I don't remember what set the snowflakes are from. Ooopsie! Any snow flake will do as long as its small. The camper and car are sitting on some Martha Stewart "snow". I colored the die cuts with my Copic markers.

[SOLD] This card done in pinks is for sale in my Etsy shop. The sentiment is from an old Kim Hughes set that I got at Cornish Heritage Farms ages ago. I love Kim Hughes hand writing! It's hard to see in this picture, but I put some of the Martha Stewart "snow" on top of the camper, car and trees on this one and the camper, car and trees are all popped off the card with some foam tape.

Its so fun making cards with this little camper set. So far I've only made the snow scenes, but I want to make an actual camping scene soon too!

Let It Snow Christmas Card

I've been creating several Christmas cards lately and here's one of them that I made using some more of my new stamps from The Cutting Cafe' Stamps. The set is called Fancy Holidays.

This card is a standard 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I used Kraft card stock for the base and a small scrap piece of older Christmas paper that I'm not sure where it came from. The snowflakes are punched from Kraft using a Martha Stewart punch and topped off with some lovely green rhinestones. Lastly I tied a piece of wrinkle ribbon for the topper.

Warm Winter Wishes Card Using The Cutting Cafe' Stamps

Here's another little Christmas card using the brand new The Cutting Cafe Stamps. I've made so many cards with these three new sets and to tell you the truth, I cant stop! LOL!

This one is so simple really. I used some Kraft card stock as my base and then added some old My Mind's Eye reindeer paper that I used an edge stamp for the scalloped trim. The scalloped circle accent is made using my Nesties. One scalloped circle and one solid circle, separated by some foam tape. I added some Martha Stewart punches and some twine and finished it all off with a big red rhinestone.

I used three different stamps, the Warm Winter Wishes is from the set called Fancy Holidays and the two circle stamps are from the set called Christmas All Around. If you haven't checked out these new stamps, hurry on over and take a peek!

Hi there! Long time no post on my card blog huh? Well, I finally started making some Christmas cards the other day and then I saw where my sweet friend Regina Easter with The Cutting Cafe' Stamps was coming out with some new stamp sets and I just had to have one of each set to play with.

This card was made using all three sets. The sets are Christmas All Around, Fancy Holidays and Christmas Banners. Hop on over and check them out, you gotta have some Christmas card making fun too!

Here's one of the two cards I made with these sweet cat images. I simply downloaded the freebies, printed them out on some heavy white card stock, cut out the images I wanted to use and went to assembling the little card. This card measures the standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4". The stamp is an old one from Kim Hughes.
Here's the second card I made. It's also the standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4". I think this one is my favorite one! I did a little machine stitching on this one and also did some stamping along the bottom as well. The I love you stamp is also a Kim Hughes and the kitty foot prints is an old Craft Lounge stamp set.

Simple Guy's Birthday Card

This is a very simple guy's birthday card using all scraps. I made this one for my guy's birthday this year. I don't think the scalloped heart is too much, do you?

I just grabbed some matching blue papers from my scrap bin, cut them into strips and glued them to the card base made of Kraft card stock. Blue is my guy's favorite color, so the color choice was easy.

The Happy Birthday stamp is a Kim Hughes stamp that I've had forever and I love it and I use it ALL THE TIME!

The heart is made using my Nesties and a page from an old hymnal I have. Love using the old book pages on my cards. I placed the heart on the card with some foam tape to raise it up off the card base a bit.

He loved it of course. Guy cards are hard to do and not make too frilly, but I find that simplicity is best when creating a card for guy.

Thank You Cards Using Lawn Fawn Stamps

When I last posted I told you I was working on Christmas cards. I was and I made a few, but I just never got around to posting them darn it!

Do you send out Thank You cards after receiving all your Christmas gifts? I try to, so this year I made a few "thanks" cards using a few goodies I actually received for Christmas. Thank you Mama!
This card is the standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". This little stamp set is from Lawn Fawn and its called Winter Sparrows. I also got the die cuts that go with the set to make it even more fun to use! The "thanks" was cut out using my Cricut Expressions machine and the Calligraphy Collection cartridge. I cut 3 layers to make it stand up off the card front. It's cut at 2".

I used my Copic markers to color the little sparrows and then used foam tape to pop them up off the card. The paper is out of my scrap bin and the pom pom trim is from my stash.

Next up I used another Lawn Fawn stamp set called Winter Penguin and the die cut that goes with him. The snow flakes on the background are also in the set as well. The "thanks" is the same as above, but its cut at 3" this time.

Again I used my Copic markers to color him in. He's adhered to the card using foam tape and I tried to make it look like he was skating on the top of the "T". These stamps are tiny and very hard to color inside the lines if you're blind like me! LOL! I tried though!
