Happy Hump Day! Popping back in with a clean and simple card set today. I've been addicted to making sets of cards lately and this design was so easy, I thought it would look great in these yummy Spring colors.

The Simon Says Stamp 100# card stock is just dreamy. I stacked the hello die cut five times to add some nice dimension and added a gold glitter heart for good measure. The background was done by just using Versamark ink to stamp the wide stripes on the card front for a tone-on-tone look. I'm really loving this stamp, by the way. Think it might just be one of my faves!

I am pleased with how these turned out, which was a nice feeling considering all of my epic watercolor fails lately in the latest Online Card Classes Watercolor for Card Makers class. Haha!

Watercolor for Card Makers Online Card Classes

Happy Friday! I know it's been a while, but I'm back with a couple of cards I made while practicing some cool watercolor techniques in the latest online card class, Watercolor for Card Makers. I really do enjoy these classes. This is the sixth one I've taken! I highly recommend them, as even the most seasoned card makers will take a lot from these classes. I was especially excited for this one because watercoloring is so hot right now and this is the technique I struggle with the most. It's the control factor I have a hard time with and I'm doing my best to "let it go". I will let you know how that goes. Anyway, on to the cards.

I was inspired by the fabulous Laura Bassen. Her card in class is just stunning. Oh, I do love my Distress Inks! For the second card, I had a piece of a "practice" run that I did not want to waste. I just stuck it behind the negative of my die cut, added a strip of glitter cardstock, and done. I started to add a Dymo label sentiment, but I thought it took away from the watercolor piece, so I decided to just leave it alone.

Hi y'all! I am back from a very unexpected blogging break. If you don't feel like listening to me ramble, feel free to scroll on down to the card. Promise I won't be offended.

First, a week before my oldest son's 13th birthday(yes, I am officially the mom of a teenager, ACK!!), he had to have an emergency appendectomy! Needless to say, mom mode took over and I was a basket case. One afternoon he called from school saying he was sick and by 6:30 p.m. he was in surgery. He handled it like a champ. Way better than his mom.

I have also been dealing with a mystery "thing" on my chin and have been to numerous dermatologists and found out...nothing. No one can seem to tell me what the thing is. Cultures, biopsies, you name it, it's been done. I have never taken so many antibiotics and tried so many topical meds in my life! It turns into this monstrous, red, painful, clear fluid-filled GINORMOUS lump, goes away, comes back. I know, disgusting, right? I can tell you that it has taken over my life for many weeks and there have been times when the "thing" gets so out of control I can't even leave the house. I became very depressed for a while, as I have always been fanatical about my skin. I do THINK it is gone now, for the most part. I don't think I will ever know what it was. I apologize if I've shared TMI, but I really felt the need to explain and vent.

So...now that I have a nifty new blog design and I no longer feel like a scary monster, I feel a fresh new start is in order. Although I haven't posted much, I have been working like crazy in the studio. I have tons to share with you. In my previous life, before kids, I was an elementary school teacher. I dabbled in middle and high school, as well. Although I don't have plans to go back any time soon, I do miss the teaching aspect. I do love to teach. I love to learn just as much and I would love to share some of the many things I have learned in this amazing industry. I am truly amazed at the talent in the blogosphere and inspiration is just everywhere. Have I mentioned my addiction to Pinterest? Anyway, I would like to start doing video tutorials and I could use your help. What kind of tutorials do you like? What kind of techniques do you want to see? Or, do you just like fast-motion, start to finish card videos put to music? Are you a beginner and just want to know where to start? I would love your input on this. After all, you are the ones I will be making the videos for!

Having said ALL that, there will be many changes around here and I am looking forward to them!

So, after poking around on Pinterest recently, I decided to start a board of patterns. So, I was playing around with these triangles and came up with this (btw, the stamp set I used is one of my favorites EVER; so many options from just one stamp set; definitely a MUST have set). Just one problem. I messed up the pattern! I accidentally stamped one of the open triangles over a green triangle instead of the aqua one. Oh, well. I still like it. Super fast to make and I just may make some more in different color variations.

Getting Your Creative Mojo Back Watercolor Card

So, I've been in a creative slump lately. Hate when that happens. I have figured out a few tricks to get those creative juices flowing again. One of them is to get out the craft mat, the distress inks, some watercolor paper, and just play. I don't think about creating a finished project. I just play around until I start feeling inspired and often times something pretty comes out of it.

This card came out of a creative play session. I only used two colors of Distress inks here, Picked Raspberry and Squeezed Lemonade. I started by using my water brushes to go over the whole panel with Picked Raspberry. I then went in with the Squeezed Lemonade. I just love how the colors mixed and made some places orange! It was pretty bright at first, so I decided to soften it up with some white pigment ink. I put a sentiment on it and called it done! Although my play session took a while, the card itself literally took minutes from start to finish. I have a ton of panels that, let's just say, don't look too hot, but that's okay. Out of it came something I can recreate in a bunch of different colors and greetings to put together a nice set. So easy to mass produce this one. This picture really doesn't do it justice. Much prettier in real life. I am going to see if I can get a better picture to replace this one. The light was just not cooperating with me.

One more thing. I mailed out a card for the first time in a long time yesterday. It felt so good! It is strange that I spend so much time making cards and never mail them out. Shame on me!! I'm going to make an effort to mail one out at least once or twice a week. Are you good at mailing them out? Do you do it often? If not, go mail one out. Who doesn't love happy mail?!

New Digs!! Welcome to Orange Blossom Designs

Happy Labor Day! How do you like my new digs? I'm so excited about my new look and new name! This has been a loooong time coming. I was on a waiting list for nearly two years to get Veronica at VK Design Company to design my blog. It was well worth the wait and she knew exactly what I wanted. Huge thanks to Veronica! I still have some tweaking to do on my part and that will get done this week.

August just kind of slipped away from me. The beginning of the month was the anniversary of my daughter's death. Always knocks the wind out of me for a while. On top of that, I have been dealing with some health issues and have spent much of the Summer sick. After spending tons of time at the doctor, everything is under control now and I finally feel back to myself again! I really hate to be a Debby Downer, but you deserve to know why I've been gone so long.

While I was sick, I did get a lot of planning done for my blog. I can't wait to share all of my new ideas with you. Soon!

Today, I have a quickie card to share which turned out nothing like I had planned. I ended up getting a huge blob of black ink on the main panel! Normally, I would have redone the whole thing, as I am a crazy perfectionist. Although, it made me cringe a little, I was just too tired (still dragging some from being sick) to do it over. I just cut it down until the blob was gone and made it work! Hope you like it! :)

Hey there friends! I am back after spending some good quality Summer vacation time with my boys. I just can't believe how this summer is zipping by. I have to admit, I am not ready for my guys to go back to school. I am probably going to miss these carefree days more than them! Also, my oldest is going into the seventh grade. I just can't even fathom that he is going to be a "teen" in just a couple of months! Ack, I feel old. Well, not really. I will always be young at heart.

Enough of my rambling. I know you want to get to the card, right?! Ha. I have been loving the Retro Sketches challenge blog and have finally gotten a chance to play. Seriously, they have the best sketches and a killer design team. You should really check it out if you haven't yet. The concept behind it is brilliant.

I used this week's sketch and pulled out a "new to me" Paper Smooches stamp set to come up with this CAS card. I paper-pieced the ice cream using this adorable 6 x 6 pad and the cone from my current favorite Studio Calico pad. Oh, and that cute little pinked edge...it is a Die-Namics die that was only $2.99!! You can't beat that. You can find it here.

As you can see, I swayed a little from the sketch. That's the beauty of sketches. They are always a great starting point to get the creativity flowing. I almost always end up with a card completely different from what I intended!

So, here's a crafty confession. I originally loaded up the ice cream piece with star dust Stickles. It turned into a Stickle-trastophy! Apparently, I was a bit heavy-handed with the sparkle and it just looked awful and bumpy. I ended up tearing that part off and re-doing that part. I am posting a picture that I took last night that somehow looks a lot better than it did in real life!

So, what do you think? To Stickle or not to Stickle? Maybe a re-do with a thinner layer?

Hi there! Thought I would pop in to share a card I made while playing around with some new stamps. I have gotten a TON of stuff lately and have spent a lot more time playing than actually finishing a project! Bad Kimmy!!

Anyway, I am smitten with this Studio Calico 6 x 6 paper pad. So many great patterns and colors in this pad. Actually, I just love anything Studio Calico! How about that cute little wood veneer? (Tip: Just use a little Glossy Accents on the back and they aren't going anywhere)

Well, I am going to go back and play with stamps. I've got a million ideas swirling through my head and I just need to figure out what to do first.

Happy Friday! I am back with another card today. I had so much fun making this! Having this sure makes it easy. I love taking cheap, plain white tags and making them my own. I just colored the little tab with a distress marker to make it look like a shipping tag and stamped the background with my favorite ledger stamp. Some distress inking, fun doodads, and that fabulous sticker and then all I had to do was add it to my card base (covered with my all-time favorite Crate paper pad papers). Easy and lots of fun! (supplies are listed at the bottom of post)

Cheer Up Paper Smooches Card

Happy Monday! I am back from a very unexpected break. You know the saying, "when it rains, it pours"? Let's just put it this way...It has been pouring nonstop around here! I won't bore you with all the details and be a "Debbie Downer". Just seems like everything is breaking around my house...at once. Ugh!

On a brighter note...

I have gotten a TON of new goodies. In fact, I have gone a little crazy, but I definitely needed some retail therapy (that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it)!

Here is a card made with some of my new goodies:

I am officially obsessed with Paper Smooches stamps! Oh my goodness, such cuteness! I paper-pieced the kite from the Authentique "Delightful" 6 x 6 patterned paper pad (see supplies below). The clouds and background are also from the same paper pad. I did add just a touch of Distress Ink to the background panel to make it stand out a little more. I used a bunch of different sizes of foam dots so the kite and clouds are at all different heights. Fun!

I hope your week is starting off wonderful. I am expecting another BIG order from here tomorrow and hope to get a haul video filmed (that is if my camera doesn't break before then!). See ya soon. :)

Hero Arts Rainbow Card Set!

Hi! I thought I'd pop in to share a card set using the same background stamp I am giving away here on my blog (see this post). As I've mentioned before, I purchased one of Jennifer McGuire's goodie boxes. I received two of the same background stamps so I am giving one away!

Some have asked to see what was in the box. As soon as I pull it all back out, as I've put most everything away, I will show you. I have seriously been in stamp heaven!!

I am entering this in the Hero Arts' monthly contest. This set was really fun to make. I just cut one inch strips of some of my favorite cardstock colors and adhered them to a 3 3/4" x 5" panel. I then heat embossed the stamped image with some clear embossing powder. After adhering my panel to the card base, I added some sentiments, buttons, twine, and some faux stitching. Done! I am going to wrap this set up into a clear box and give it to a dear friend who could use some cheering up.

Simon Says Stamp Favorite Tool Challenge~Birthday Pocket Card

I am back with another card share for the Simon Says Stamp Use Your Favorite Tool Challenge. All of my tools are my favorite tools, but I thought I'd share a card using my latest favorite...my little sewing machine. I just LOVE the look of machine stitching on cards, so a while back I bought a Janome Sew Mini on eBay. I used to have a regular size machine, but I ended selling it long before my paper crafting addiction began. I have to say this little machine works great. Perfect for card making and doesn't take up too much space in my craft room. Okay, on to the card...

My mom needed a birthday card for my aunt and I wanted it to be extra special. I used a sketch from Paper Crafts "Card Ideas for Paper Crafters" (pg. 92) and was inspired, in particular, by the fabulous Julia Stainton's card featured in the issue. I thought the double-sided paper was just perfect for this design.

I found a perfect sister poem on the internet and printed it out on cardstock for the pocket insert. Mom was happy and my aunt loved it!

Happy Monday! I feel the need to blab for a minute, so I won't be offended if you are just here for the card and just wanna scroll on down!!

I don't know where the time has gone since my last post, but I have actually been super busy in my craft room. So busy, in fact, I guess I just forgot to post...LOL. I also took Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 101 Class. I cannot even begin to tell you how much knowledge I gained from this class! If you haven't taken it, I highly recommend it! If you are reading this, then without a doubt, there is some sort of Ranger product on your work space. You really learn how to get the most out of your products with a gazillion techniques that you will use over and over. I am obsessed with Distress Ink "anything" and I have been having so much fun getting inky! Okay, my infomercial is over for now! I'll be back another day with some of the tags created while taking the class.

I have TONS to share with you in the upcoming days. There just may be a giveaway involved, too! I am so excited to be back to blogging! I actually feel "caught up" now to where I can post regularly.

Today's card was one I threw together at the last minute for a friend's birthday. I apologize for the picture quality, as I was literally taking the picture as I was walking out the door to go meet her for dinner. I didn't have a birthday card I liked for her and I have been on a butterfly kick lately. I will explain my butterfly obsession on another post.

I quickly stitched some punched butterflies together on my sewing machine and left two little threads sticking up for the antennae. I wish my picture showed this better, but I was in such a hurry!! Some pearls, a gem, misting, a sentiment, and I called it done.

You Inspire Me Pinwheel Card

Happy Wednesday! It is actually still Tuesday night for me! I can't sleep, so why not post a card? LOL This week is Spring Break for my boys (they leave today to go with their dad for the rest of the week, which is probably why I can't sleep) :( We have really been enjoying it! I am cherishing every moment with them, as they are just growing up so fast! We didn't go off to the beach this year, but our "stay-cation" has been just as fun! There really hasn't been much time to craft, but I do plan to make up for that while the boys are gone.

I actually made this card before Spring Break, but forgot to post it! I am absolutely LOVING making Spring-themed cards right now and this pinwheel card seems perfectly fitting! After watching this video by Laurel Beard, I was off to work. I had actually never made one before and had no idea how easy they are to make! I used the glue dot method and that made it super simple. I used some yummy new My Minds Eye papers and stamped the background panel with the Hero Arts Friend Definition. The sentiment comes from one of my favorite stamp sets ever; Lawn Fawn "Flutter By" (see supplies below).

Hello there! I have been having some technical issues here, hence, another disappearing act. Aside from the fact that my computer's been acting up, I can't take a good picture of my cards to save my life! I have tried everything. I have come to realize that my old Nikon Coolpix has seen better days! It is definitely time for an upgrade. I plan on getting a Canon Rebel, but it is going to be a few weeks before I can do that. I have spent waaaaay too much money on crafting supplies lately! It's so easy to do, isn't it?!

Today's card features more of my manic misting...LOL. I just can't stop with that stuff. I have an ongoing love affair with Mister Huey! I made the focal point from a chipboard element that came from some new My Minds Eye goodies, a punched circle, and the sentiment is cut out from one of the papers from the Be Amazing paper pad (I inked around it to make it stand out). Love those papers! I added some banners cut from the same papers and ended up with a blue ribbon-ish focal piece. I punched out a little tab, stamped on it, and stitched it on with my sewing machine. I usually don't buy acrylic stamps, but I am loving everything My Minds Eye lately. When I saw their new collection of stamps, I had to have them!

I am off to play with my new Lawn Fawn stamps. I just got them in the mail literally minutes ago and I can't wait to ink them up! This one is my absolute favorite!!!

Happy weekend friends! Just poppin' in with a card I made for Kimber McGray's Saturday sketch challenge over at Two Peas. This card is actually for last Saturday's sketch. I have really grown to love sketches. Always a great starting point.

I recently got in an order from 2Peas full of new My Minds Eye goodies. I used papers from this 6 x6 pad and that awesome butterfly comes from this layered sticker pack. I started with a kraft card base and did a little misting with some Mister Huey's Calico White (love that stuff!). Since I seem to have a problem with just doing "a little" misting, I added some Glimmer Mist, too, in Tattered Leather. I can't tell you how many projects I've ruined from getting "spray happy", but this time I really liked the end result. The kraft paper turned into a kind of slate color and just went with the feel of the whole project (well, at least I think so...lol). In fact, when I went to stamp the sentiment in some Walnut Stain Distress Ink, it turned out a grayish color. Pretty cool I thought!

I'm Back!

Well, hello there! Remember me? I've been gone for pretty much a year. I wish I could say I was away traveling the world, but, unfortunately that's not the case! I have been dealing with some health issues with my mother, as well as some personal issues. and needed to put the blog on hold. I wasn't expecting to be gone this long, but life just happened. I do have to say that I am so excited to be back. Although I wasn't posting on the blog, that sure didn't stop me from buying new goodies and following all of my favorite blogs. After looking back at what I have posted, I sure was temped to delete, delete, delete!! Boy, there are some doozies on here! I decided that would defeat the purpose of my blog in the first place; to see my growth in papercrafting. I also considered filling my page up with pictures from Pinterest (I'm so addicted to that site) so the old stuff would go way...LOL, but I am only going to post one...for now. If anyone is reading this, I sure do thank you. I have so missed this amazing community of friends. No matter how bad life gets, there is always someone there to life your spirits.

Peachy Keen Guest Designer Week 6: Day 5

Hello Peachy friends! Today is my last day as a Peachy Keen Guest designer. =[ I have really enjoyed it and I'm actually a little sad it's coming to a close. My project today is for the LFIF challenge. The challenge is "Think Spring" handmade gifts! I am already in the Spring mode, as you can see from my projects this week, so I was up for the challenge!!

I decided to create a gift bag for my BFF with another favorite Peachy Keen Stamp set....Retro Face Assortment. We are both always giving eachother crafty goodies we pick up along the way after one of us has gone shopping. It is usually stuff we find on a really good sale. We usually just hand it to the other in whatever store bag it came from. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to whip up a cute little bag for the next shopping trip. I just know she will LOVE it! (I'm sure she will see this post, but I knew she would love actually seeing something that is especially for her. Whenever I make a card she likes, I always get the call, "When are you sending me that card?"...LOL) So...Kim, this is for you, but you can't get it until I go shopping!!! HEHE!!

I used a black gift bag, layered it with some Papertrey Ink cardstock and ribbon, and a butterfly from the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge. The butterfly is cut at 3.71". I thought that Retro face added just the right touch. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE that face. It is fun to color, too. It's like you are putting on her makeup! I used my Spica glitter pens for her eyes and lips and a little chalk for her cheeks. I added some white fabric thickers for a little extra POP! I know I went a little crazy on the bling! Peachy Keen Guest Designer Week 6: Day 4

Happy Thursday! This is day 4 of my 5 days as a guest designer with Peachy Keen Stamps. I want to thank you so much for all the lovely comments. I read each and every one of them and they always make me smile. I hope you all have found at least a little inspiration this week. Peachy Keen faces really are a blast to work with! I can't get enough of them! There are many to choose from and I always get asked about what set to start with. Honestly, if you just pick a set of faces that YOU really like, it is easy peasy to incorporate them with most any project. For example, I often use the Princess faces on animals, etc. Hope that helps some of you that are new to Peachy Keen Stamps. I have used a different set each day this week, highlighting some of my favorite faces (now, that was FUN!).

Today's card kind of took on a life of its own...LOL. I started making a cupcake and ended up with a baby bunny!! Long story. I do this ALL the time. That pretty new Graphic 45 paper was sitting on my craft table and I just couldn't resist using it. Just didn't work with the cupcake. So...from cupcake to this:

I used the Peachy Keen Stamps Everyday Character Face Assortment-PK 490 to stamp the adorable face. This set was my very first Peachy set. Very special to me! This little baby bunny was cut from the Simply Charmed cartridge. I used the Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder on some kraft cardstock and inked up the very top of the embossing. A little ribbon, some buttons and teeny tiny pearls, a Pink by Design stamp, all layered on top of that yummy Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime paper, and VOILA! A Peachy-fied card for somebunny special!

ETA: I have a fun little tip for you. The sentiment I used is from Pink by Design Go Green Stamp Set and is all on one line. Well, this card is a mini, 4.5" x 4.5", and I just didn't have the room to stamp it that way. No problem! Just ink the stamp as normal, put a piece of tape over the second word, stamp, ink it up again, tape over the first word, stamp the second word underneath the first. Easy peasy and you can get even more versatility out of your stamp sets!
