Week 9: Girls Night, Archery Competition & Sickenss

Here’s Week 9. We started the week with our normal routine and ended it with a mix of fun and sickness. The boys traveled to Memphis for the NFAA National Archery Competition, and Matthew placed 6th! We had a girls’ night at home, but Lydia ended up getting sick, so the next day turned into a quiet one spent mostly resting on the couch.

My page came together nicely using my new Tell Your Story Template set. I added just a few stamps from Paislee Press to dress it up a bit.

Quick Scrapping Tutorial!

I’ve been working on my Hawaii album lately, and as I was putting together a double-page spread using two single-page templates, I thought I’d share one of my favorite ways to scrapbook faster.

For this spread, I used two templates from the same set.

First, I completely scrapbook one side of the layout — photos, journaling, papers, elements, everything. I take my time getting that first page just the way I like it.

Next, on the second template, I place my photos and journaling. Then I open both layouts in Photoshop and go to Window > Arrange > Tile All Vertically so I can see them side by side.

From there, I simply drag the papers from the finished (left) layout over to the right layout. If you hold down the Shift key while dragging, it will place the paper perfectly aligned on the template. Then just press Ctrl + Alt + G to clip it to the layer below.

After that, I add a few elements to the right side to balance everything out — and I’m done!

This method saves so much time because I don’t have to dig back through the kit and decide between all those beautiful papers again (and let’s be honest, sometimes that’s the hardest part!). Once you have one side designed, the second side comes together so quickly.

You could absolutely use this technique to create an entire album faster and with a cohesive look throughout.

I did end up moving part of the title over to the right side for better balance, and I love how it brought the two pages together.

Week eight included some sickness, BUT it also included warm weather and ended with a beautiful day outside. I just stuck to my template for this page, the styles I created, and one word art. Simple, quick, and beautiful!

Printed 8x8 Graduation Album

Here it is: my daughter’s printed graduation album. I’ve been working on it on and off for the last two years, and it’s only about nine months since her graduation. It may be a little late, but it’s finished, and she has the rest of her life to look through it.

I ordered the book from Shutterfly, and here are the details:

My goal for this album was to scrapbook one page from each year of her life, all the way through graduation. I began with a more traditional scrapbook style, using layered elements, shadows, and texture. When I reached the graduation photos, I shifted to a simpler, more graphic look.

Here's a look at pages side by side with different backgrounds.

Here's a closer look at the matte pages. The shadows give the layouts a dimensional, paper-crafted look that I love.

For the graduation section, I leaned into a clean, magazine-style design. I took the photos myself, which made that part even more special and so much fun. I included several pages featuring just her, but I also added a couple of spreads with her friends because those friendships were such an important part of her high school years.

Week 7: More Journaling

Week 7 of 2026 is scrapped! I wrote a little more journaling on these pages than usual because I wanted to include more than what was captured in the photos. I didn’t take pictures of everything I would have liked, so I made sure to document those moments with words instead.

I still kept it super simple. In the one large photo spot on the template, I added a few extra photos. I could have left it as a paper block or a single large photo, but I really wanted to fit more memories onto the page. Then I used my layer styles (see how I created them here and create your own!) to add a little color, added one small piece of word art, and boom—done!

2025 Documented Album - Printed!

I just received my printed 2025 scrapbook album from Shutterfly, and I’m so excited to finally have it in my hands! I’m sharing a little review below, along with a video so you can flip through the entire album with me.

I waited for a sale and was able to get 50% off!

When the bright orange box arrived in the mail, everyone was eager to open it. I made sure all chores and schoolwork were finished first, though—I knew once we opened it, we’d all want to sit and look through it together.

Here’s the cover—it has a beautiful, glossy shine and feels sturdy and well-made.

I’m sharing a few close-ups of the inside pages. The 10x10 size is perfect: it’s easy to rest on your lap while flipping through, and the fonts are still large enough to read comfortably. Everything looks crisp, and the matte pages give it a soft, high-quality finish.

I used my Documented Templates to design this album, along with various kits from the Hey Scrapper Shop. I’ve bundled everything together for you, and it’s on SALE this weekend. If you prefer, you can also purchase the individual templates separately here.

Week 3: A little more journaling.

Week 3 is complete! I didn’t take many photos this week, so I leaned more heavily into journaling to really tell the story of what our week looked like.

To keep everything cohesive, I stuck with the same color styles I created last week. If you’re interested in creating your own custom color styles, I also have a tutorial up on my YouTube channel walking through the process step by step.

I used my Tell Your Story Templates 1 as the foundation for this page and added a few extra elements to support the story: Back to School Elements by Paislee Press (the Lessons Learned element) and Chalk Talk Papers by Dunia Designs for the patterned paper.

Finished 6x8 December Album!

Here it is—my finished 6x8 December Album, created with the help of ChatGPT! You can read more about that process here.

I also used my December Zine Album Templates, along with a few additional kits from the Hey Scrapper Shop, to bring everything together.

For printing, I used Persnickety Prints to order my 6x8 photos. Once they arrived, I simply slipped the pages into 6x8 page protectors and added them to the same 2-ring album I’ve used for my past December albums.

Here are a few close-ups. I really love how easy these albums are to flip through, especially since they’re stored together with previous Decembers. It’s so fun to see all of our different Decembers side by side and watch the story build over time.

I’m already thinking about what I might create next year. I definitely plan to stick with the 6x8 format and add it to this album. I may even tweak my ChatGPT list and see how that shapes next year’s story.

I’ve finished my second page for 2026 using my new Tell Your Story Templates 1. It was a pretty simple week, with a few extra fun moments mixed in. I wanted to see what these templates would look like with everyday, around-the-house photos, and I think they turned out great.

Since I’m just recoloring my layers, I created and saved color styles for quick and easy use in Photoshop. I thought you might want to do the same, so I put together a short tutorial for you. You can watch it on my YouTube channel—I hope it’s helpful!

My First Page of 2026!

I created my first page of 2026 using my Tell Your Story Templates, and I truly had so much fun with them. I love how my pages turned out, and it felt really good to start the year documenting in a way that feels both simple and meaningful.

After using these templates for the first time, I’ve already noticed a couple of things I want to do a little differently going forward. First, I want to be more mindful about the photos I take. Since I’m aiming for a magazine-style feel with these pages, I need to be a bit more intentional when I’m behind the camera. I tend to snap photos quickly without thinking much about angles or lighting, so that’s something I’m planning to practice and improve this year.

The second thing I’m going to do is let go of the pressure to use a full digital scrapbook kit. For this layout, I simply recolored the papers and elements in the templates, and I loved how clean and cohesive everything felt. I may still add a bit of word art here and there, but I’m giving myself permission to skip all the extras. I can always use those on other albums and projects, but for these pages, simplicity is exactly what I want.

Starting 2026 with these pages reminded me that documenting doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful or meaningful. By focusing on intentional photos and embracing a simpler approach, I can spend less time overthinking and more time actually telling my story. I’m excited to see how these pages evolve throughout the year and to continue finding joy in the process of documenting everyday life.

2025 Album Complete!

It’s finished—my 2025 scrapbook album! For the final page, I created a single 12×12 layout since I didn’t take many photos during the last few days of the year. We spent most of that time relaxing around the house, which meant fewer pictures—but honestly, it was the perfect way to rest and reset before the new year.

As I’m typing this, I’m uploading my pages to Shutterfly so I can order the album and take advantage of the sale happening right now!

I really enjoyed creating this year’s album in a photo-pocket style, but I’m especially excited to try something new with my Tell Your Story template series. These have a clean, graphic, zine-inspired feel that I’m loving. For my first page of 2026, I’ll be starting with photos from Thursday, January 1st through Saturday, January 10th as my “first week”—just in case you were wondering how I’m kicking things off.

I’ll be back next weekend to share my very first page of 2026!

2025 Recap and 2026 Goals

It’s time to do a little reflecting on 2025—and then look ahead to 2026.

These were the goals I shared on my blog last year:

Create a family album that includes a double-page spread (as usual).
Finish my Hawaii album.
Begin and complete a scrapbook album for my next graduating daughter—she graduates this spring, and I haven’t started yet! This is a big goal, but I’m excited to dive in.

Looking back, I’m really pleased with how the year went. I finished my 2025 album, made solid progress on my Hawaii album (even though it isn’t quite finished yet), and started my daughter’s graduation album—which is almost done! I also completed all of my December Daily pages (bonus!). While I didn’t check off every single goal, I accomplished quite a bit, and that feels like a win.

For 2026, my goals will look very similar:

Complete a double-page weekly family album using my NEW Tell Your Story Template series
Finish my Hawaii album
Complete my daughter’s graduation album
