De eerste week van Project 365 succesvol afgerond ;-)

I completed the first week for Project 365 ;-)

En ook nog wat gescrapt met de nieuwe templates van Dawn Inskip, speciaal om die éne mooie foto goed tot zijn recht te laten komen. Photo Emphasis Templates, vol.1 t/m vol. 4! De mooie foto van de vos mocht ik lenen van Frans van Dijk, dank je wel! De andere layout maakte ik met een mooie foto van mijn jongste.

I scrapped a bit too with the new templates by Dawn Inskip, they are made to really showcase that one beautiful photo. Photo Emphasis Templates, vol. 1 to vol.4! The fox-photo was made by Frans van Dijk, and he gave me permission to use it, thank you! The other layout I made with a gorgeous photo of my youngest daughter.

Project 365

Oke, project 365 dus .... In 2009 succesvol afgerond, de twee daaropvolgende jaren hopeloos mislukt. Je begint fanatiek, maar al snel gaat het mis. Fototoestel meenemen, en als dat al lukt, daarna foto's van het kaartje halen, be- en verwerken, ik was het telkens al snel zat. Maar nu .... ! Nu gaat het echt lukken, want ik ga de foto's gewoon met de telefoon maken, mail ze direct door, en dan is het een kwestie van in een simpele layout plakken en klaar is Klara ... ehh... Brigitte bedoel ik ;-) De cover van het boek heb ik al gemaakt, en de pagina's van de eerste dagen ook.

So, about project 365 ..... In 2009 I completed the year, the next two years I failed miserably. I started both times with good hope and intentions, but failed pretty soon. You need to think about taking your camera with you, when you do so, afterwards you need to get the photos of the card, work with them, just too much work. But now ....! Now I will succeed, because I simple use my camera to make the photos. There are awesome apps to use, like Hipstamatic and Instagram for example. Simly mail the daily photos to my emailaddress, paste them into my very simple layouts and I'm done ;-) I made the cover for the yearbook, and pages for the first days.

Ook dit jaar weer gewone dagelijkse dingen, soms bijzonder, soms heel saai, maar wel in een fraai jasje gegoten. Ik heb er weer zin in!

This year again just the ordinary daily stuff, sometimes exciting, sometimes boring, but because of the cute apps kind of artsy photos. I'm so happy I started again!

Een goed begin ...

is het halve werk .... Ik ben 2012 begonnen met regelmatig een poosje in het atelier te vertoeven, en dat bevalt prima. Al is het maar een half uurtje, het is wel totale ontspanning. Als eerste een paar experimenten met mijn nieuwe Derwent Inktense Blocks.

A good start ... I started 2012 with regular art studio time, and I like it! Even a small half hour is so relaxing. First of all a bit of experimenting with my new Derwent Inktense Blocks.

De kleuren zijn in ieder geval prachtig, en het fijne is dat je er overheen kunt schilderen zonder de ondergrond te beschadigen. Als de kleuren droog zijn is het namelijk permanent. En dat is toch wel heel prettig!

I love the intense colors, and the best part is you can paint over it without smudging the colors, because the ink is permanent when dry. Love that!

Er staan ook weer een aantal workshops op het programma. Lifebook 2012, een workshop die het hele jaar gaat duren met allerlei verschillende workshops van geweldige kunstenaars. Dan de Strathmore workshop (gratis!), ik was vooral geinteresseerd in de workshop van Traci Bautista. En dan nog de Carla Sonheim lessen, daar verheug ik me ook heel erg op. Dus, druk zat! Hieronder de eerste les van Traci Bautista.

I've got several workshops going in 2012. First of all Lifebook 2012, this will go on the entire year with different marvellous teachers. I joined the Strathmore workshop too (free!), especially for the Traci Bautista workshop. And than there are the Carla Sonheim classes, looking forward to those too. So, lots of art to make! Below my take on the first Traci Bautista lesson.

Ook doe ik dit jaar weer een Project 365. In 2009 is het gelukt, 2010 en 2011 helemaal mislukt, maar nu heb ik (denk ik) een formule die gaat werken. Ik heb er weer zin in! Ik zet alle foto's in deze Flickr map, maar maak ook wekelijkse layouts, want uiteindelijk moet het toch wel weer een fotoboek worden ;-) Het worden allemaal kiekjes met de telefoon, en ik ga daarvoor Hipstamatic en/of Instagram gebruiken. Direct vanaf de telefoon doorsturen naar mijn mailadres, en aan het einde van de week een layout maken. Moet toch te doen zijn?

I also will be doing the Project 365 again this year. I did it in 2009, failed miserably in 2010 and 2011, but now I think I have found a way to keep this up. All my photos will be uploaded to this Flickr set, and each week I will make layouts, because I want to make a photobook with all the daily photos at the end of this year ;-) The photos will be snapshots with my mobile phone, using Hipstamatic and/or Instagram. This way I can send them straight into my mailbox, and do the layout at the end of each week. So, I should be fine this year ;-)

Het wordt een leuk jaar, ik voel het gewoon!

Balance

Nog een kleine 60 minuten, en dan is 2011 geschiedenis. Het was een goed jaar, toch wel. Natuurlijk hadden we ups en downs, maar over het geheel genomen mogen we weer niet mopperen. De zaak floreert, Inge heeft haar diploma gehaald en is nu aan het studeren, we hebben een geweldige vakantie gehad in Engeland .... We zijn geen dierbaren verloren, niet financieel aan de grond geraakt, genoten van mooi weer, en het slechte weer genegeerd ... En zo kan ik nog wel even doorgaan.

About 60 minutes to go, and 2011 is history. It has been a good year. Of course we had our ups and downs, but overall we cannot complain. Our business is doing great, Inge got her highschool diploma and is studying now, we enjoyed a great vacation in England ... We didn't loose any close ones, didn't go bankrupt, enjoyed wonderful weather and ignored the bad weather ... And I can continue for a while.

Ik ga er vanuit dat 2012 ook weer een goed jaar gaat worden. We gaan er in ieder geval alles aan doen! Ik heb voor 2012 wel een woord gekozen, en dat is BALANS. Want de balans is soms weleens een beetje zoek, de balans tussen werk en hobby, gezin en mezelf ... En dat wil ik graag veranderen ;-) Stoppen met roken? Ook goed mogelijk, want dat is ook iets wat ik inmiddels heel erg graag wil.

I trust 2012 will be a good year too. I will work hard to make it a good year, that's for sure! I did choose a word for 2012, and it's BALANCE. Because sometimes I need to find more balance between work and hobby, family and myself .... Quit smoking? That might be a good possibility, because I really really want to quit.

Buiten knalt het de hele dag al flink, en we tellen het laatste uurtje af. Ik wens iedereen het allerbeste voor 2012, en doe aub heel voorzichtig met vuurwerk, ga zonder enge verwondingen het nieuwe jaar in!

Outside the fireworks are getting heavier, and we are counting down towards midnight. I wish you all the very best for 2012, please be careful with the fireworks, and get into 2012 without injuries!

Zo, de Kerst is weer achter de rug, en bijna alweer Oudejaarsavond .... We hebben een zalige relaxte week achter de rug. Kerst was weer geweldig, met natuurlijk het grote familiediner. Deze keer iets anders, we hebben met z'n allen gekookt, zodat iedereen één gang voor zijn rekening nam. Voor gastheer en gastvrouw wel zo prettig, dan kunnen die ook wat meer genieten. En dat is gelukt ;-) Het kadootjes-spel was weer een hilarische aangelegenheid, met als favoriet item dit keer een paars dekentje ... Meest ongewilde item? Weet ik eigenlijk niet, was dat de snoeplingerie, of de ontstopper? Of misschien de ontdeugende pasta met bijbehorende tandenborstel? We hebben lol gehad, dat is zeker!

Christmas is over, and it's almost New Years Eve .... We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing week. Christmas was fabulous again, with of course the annual family dinner. This year a bit different, we all cooked part of the meal which was much better for the hosts, they actually had some time to enjoy things too ;-) We played the Christmasgiftgame. In short, one minute you have a cool gift, the next minute it can be gone to somebody else. The most wanted item this year was a very soft purple blanket .... The item nobody really wanted? Could be the candybikini, or the 'ontstopper' , or maybe the naughty pasta with matching toothbrush? We had fun, that's for sure!

Derwent Inktense and Photoshop

Kerstavond zijn we allemaal erg verwend met mooie cadeaus. Ik had voor Arie een mooi horloge gekocht, en groot was mijn verbazing toen ik zelf ook een prachtig horloge uitpakte ;-) Enfin, we zijn allebei weer bij de tijd! Ik kreeg natuurlijk ook knutselspullen, prachtige Derwent Inktense Blocks , Montana spuitbussen (nee, ik zal geen gebouwen bekladden ...) , een mooi boek, een heerlijk luchtje en een fietscomputer ;-) Verwennerij dus!

Christmas Eve we all got spoiled with great gifts. I bought my husband a beautiful watch, and to my big suprise I unwrapped a gorgeous watch too ;-) Of course there were painting supplies, like Derwent Inktense Blocks and Montana spraycans (no I won't spray on public buildings, promise .....), a book, a delicious Eau de Toilette and a bike computer ;-) Yep, I got spoiled!

Deze week weer een nieuwe kit van Dawn Inskip bij Scrapbookgraphics, dus daar heb ik ook nog even mee gescrapt. Hij heet 'Dreamcatcher Collection', en daar had ik toch de perfecte foto voor ;-) Het is echt een schitterende kit geworden, en de getekende elementen in de kit zijn gemaakt door Dawns dochter Carly ... Over talent gesproken!

This week Dawn Inskip release a new kit at Scrapbookgraphics, and I scrapped with it. An absolutely gorgeous kit and I had the perfect photos for this one. It is called 'Dreamcatcher Collection' and Dawns daughter Carly did the artwork for this kit. She's very talented!

Het is een lang bericht geworden. Ik heb nog meer om te laten zien, maar ik laat het hier maar even bij, bewaar ik nog wat voor het nieuwe jaar ;-) Ik wens jullie allemaal een hele fijne Oudejaarsavond, en een nog geweldiger 2012!

Laatste berichtje vóór de kerst .... Morgen thuis de puntjes op de i zetten, en dan zijn we klaar om van de kerst te genieten..... Langs deze weg wil ik al mijn lezers hele fijne feestdagen wensen, met veel gezelligheid. Doe het rustig aan, en relax ... Op zijn tijd ook heel belangrijk!

Een nieuwe kit van Dawn Inskip, de 'Make Believe' Collection. Dus weer scrappen, en zoeken in mijn foto's voor iets toepasselijks. Natuurlijk een elfje van de Fantasy Fair, maar ook een oude foto van onze jongste, geschminkt als clowntje ... Wat een schatje he ;-)

A new kit by Dawn Inskip, the 'Make Believe' Collection. So it was scrapping time again, and needed to find some appropriate photos. Of course I used one little fairy, a photo I made at one of the Fantasy Fairs I visited. The other one is an older photo I found of our youngest, with a painted clown face.... Look at that adorable little face ;-)

The Promise - 50 jaar

Het is feest vandaag, mijn schoonouders zijn 50 jaar getrouwd. Ja, 50 jaar, dat is een hele tijd en zeker een feestje waard. En kijk eens hoe prachtig ze er 50 jaar geleden uitzagen ;-)

We're celebrating today, 50 years of marriage for my parents in law. Yes, 50 years, that is a long time and worth a party. And look how beautiful they were 50 years ago ;-)

Even voor de duidelijkheid, ze zien er nog steeds goed uit en mogen deze dag in goede gezondheid vieren, en dat is natuurlijk heerlijk. Hoe het bruidspaar er vandaag uitziet, ja, dat weet ik nog niet, maar ik zal dat zeker hier laten zien in de nabije toekomst ;-) En nu aan de slag, want er moet nog veel gebeuren voor we kunnen feesten!

To make myself clear, they still look great and can celebrate this day in good health, which is wonderful of course. What they will look like today? I don't know yet, but I will show you for sure in the near future ;-) Now I need to get busy, lots to do before the party starts!

De afgelopen dagen heerlijk kerstkoekjes gebakken. Weer veel te veel natuurlijk, maar als ik eenmaal begin ben ik niet meer te stoppen ;-) En ze zijn weer mooi geworden!! (en heel lekker natuurlijk LOL)

The past few days I have been baking our Christmas cookies. Way too many of course, but once I start I just cannot stop ;-) They are really beautiful again!! (and taste pretty good too LOL)

Winter, maar geen recente foto. Tot nu toe alleen maar regen en storm, ik vind er niks aan / Winter, but not a recent photo. For now we only have lots of rain and wind, I don't like it at all

Tekenen en schilderen, op het moment komt het er niet van. En zal ook niet meer gebeuren voor de kerst, gewoon veel te veel te doen. Maar tussen Kerst en Oud en Nieuw, ja, dan heb ik heerlijk een paar vrije dagen en ga ik me lekker uitleven. Misschien krijg ik zelfs wel een nieuw schilderkadootje van de kerstman ;-)

Drawing and painting, won't happen before Christmas I think, there is just too much to do. But between Christmas en New Years Eve I have a number of days to relax, and paint my heart out. Maybe Santa will bring me some new supplies too, who knows .... ;-)

Een kreet die ik van Inge hoorde. Iets wat ze leerde op de kunstacademie, een werk wat je heel mooi vindt gebruiken om iets anders van te maken (zeg ik het zo goed, Inge?). In ieder geval, de term is van toepassing op het volgende schilderij. Al vond ik hem niet heel erg mooi, want ik was met name niet tevreden over de gele accenten. Nou, die zijn nu wel weg!

Kill your darling, an expression I learned from my oldest daughter. She's studying at artschool and learned that sometimes you should take a work you really love and use it to make something completely different. I didn't like the yellow circles in my first try, and after weeks of looking at the painting I still had no clue what to do. So, I decided to 'kill my darling' and I got rid of the yellow circles. Actually, it ended up totally different, and I like it!

Dit weekend heb ik nog een ander schilderij afgemaakt, heel anders, maar ook hiermee ben ik meer dan tevreden. Soms lukt het gewoon heel erg goed en gaat het bijna vanzelf ;-)

Last weekend I finished another painting too, quite different, and with this one I am very happy too. Sometimes things just work out so beautiful, and almost without effort ;-)

Dit begon als een frustratie-doek, waar ik allerlei akelige krantenkoppen op plakte, stukken papier en textuur met modeling paste. Dat luchtte zo erg op, dat ik er daarna niets meer aan gedaan heb. Afgelopen weekend besloot ik hem af te maken, de krantenkoppen zijn zo goed als verdwenen, het enige wat er nog aan herinnert is de kreet 'Where is the love' . Want dat vraag je je weleens af als je de krant leest .....

This one started as my frustration-canvas. I glued lots of newspaper headlines on the canvas, depressing ones, took some random pieces of paper and a lot of texture with modeling paste. After that I was over my depression and the canvas stood there, waiting. Last weekend I decided to finish it, the headlines are barely visible anymore, and all that's left of my frustration are the words 'Where is the love'. Because sometimes you wonder, when reading the newspaper ....

Dus, als je even geen inspiratie hebt, neem één van je mooiste werken en maak er totaal iets anders van. Gefrustreerd en/of een beetje depressief? Reageer het af op een schilderij, plak en schrijf alle ellende op het doek en schilder het weer (grotendeels) weg ;-) Magisch!

So, if you're uninspired, find one of your better pieces and make something totally different. Frustrated and/or kind of depressed? Write and glue all your frustration on a canvas and paint over it ;-) Magic!

Kerstsfeer ...

Tijd voor een beetje kerstsfeer op mijn blog. Nou ja, een beetje ;-) Is het teveel of niet? Ach, kerstdecoratie kan toch nooit teveel zijn, hoe meer glitters, rood, groen, goud en zilver, hoe beter! In ieder geval lukt het zo waarschijnlijk beter om in de stemming te komen, want dat lukt bij mij nog niet zo heel erg. Ik mis vorst, sneeuw, kou ... Nou ja, koud is het wel buiten, maar meer herfstkoud. En dan ook nog storm, nee hoor, er moet nog wel wat gaan veranderen, en snel graag ...

My blog is getting ready for Christmas. Did I overdo it? O well, one can never have enough Christmasdecorations, the more glitter, red, green, silver and gold, the better! This way I hope to find Christmasspirit soon, because I don't really feel it, yet. I need the low temperatures, snow, cold ... Oke, it is cold at the moment, but more Autumn-cold, complete with a real storm. No, some things need to change, and quickly please ....

Ik heb voor het opleuken van mijn blog natuurlijk weer de spulletjes van Dawn Inskip gebruikt, die heeft voor elke gelegenheid wel iets leuks ;-)

Vanavond nog maar eens een gezicht getekend, in mijn nieuwe schetsboek. Om tot de ontdekking te komen, dat het mooie creme papier niet zo geschikt is voor aquarelverf. Uiteindelijk met de tekening nog wat in Photoshop gespeeld ;-)

Tonight I drew another face, in my new sketchbook. Only to find that the creme paper in my sketchbook is not for watercolors. I decided to play with the image in Photoshop ;-)

Boekbinden en aquarel

Vandaag maar eens een snipperdag genomen, gewoon een heerlijke dag voor mezelf. Vanochtend toen de wekker afliep was ik nog zo moe, dat ik me heerlijk nog eens omgedraaid heb. Wat kan dat lekker zijn zeg ;-) Ik ben al een aantal dagen bezig met het maken van een schetsboek, en vandaag was alles zover om in elkaar te zetten. Ik heb wat foutjes gemaakt, en daar natuurlijk ook weer van geleerd, maar ondanks de foutjes vind ik het een ontzettend leuk boekje ;-)

Today I decided to make this a me-day. This morning the alarm clock woke me, and I was still soooo tired! I snuggled into my blankets and slept a bit more, warm and wonderful ;-) I've been working on a sketchbook for a few days now, trying to learn a bookbinding technique. Today was the day to assemble everything. Although I made some mistakes (and learned from them), I love my new journal, filled with heavy cream paper ;-)

Verder heb ik me aangemeld voor een nieuwe (gratis!!) workshop, Faces. Het is zo gaaf om haar te zien werken, en ze heeft me de moed gegeven ook weer eens mijn aquareldoos tevoorschijn te halen ;-) En deze keer lukte het zelfs!

I also registered for a new (free!!) workshop, Faces. It is so cool to see her draw and paint, and she gave me the courage to try my watercolors (again) ;-) This time it sort of worked!

En zo ziet het er nu uit. Ik ga er nog wel mee verder, zij kleurt haar portretten in met kleurpotlood, nadat ze de basislaag in aquarel heeft gedaan. Intrigerend en ga ik zeker nog proberen.

And this is what it looks now. I will continue with this portrait, she colors her portraits with colored pencils after she does the first layer with watercolors. I will definately try that too.

Enfin, het was een fijne creatieve dag, en ik heb ervan genoten ;-)

Anyway, it was a fun and creative day, and I really enjoyed it ;-)

Klaprozen

Pfff, ik moest gewoon even verf aan mijn handen krijgen! De tijd ontbreekt om wat langer te schilderen, dus maar weer eens mijn Moleskine gepakt en snel wat klaprozen geschilderd. Ik heb een groot doek waar klaprozen op moeten komen, maar ik wil eerst even oefenen ;-)

Pfff, I really needed to get my hands dirty and paint! Don't have the time at the moment to paint something big, so I grabbed my Moleskine and quickly painted some poppies. I am working on a big canvas and want to paint poppies on this one, but I feel I need to practise first ;-)

Nog niet perfect, maar het begint erop te lijken. Fijne avond nog!

Kerst, het schiet al weer op

Ja, en zo gaan we al weer richting Kerstmis .... Nou ja, nog wel even wachten tot Sinterklaas weer naar huis is, maar dan snel de kerstboom neerzetten ;-) Ben wel al begonnen met het kopen van de kerstkadootjes, zodat ik dan misschien dit jaar niet alles op het laatste nippertje hoef te doen LOL

Only a month away, for Christmas .... We have to wait until Sinterklaas left the country, but then it is time to trim the tree ;-) I did start with presents-shopping, hoping this year I won't have to do the horrible last minute shopping LOL

Ik heb vandaag even gescrapt met de prachtige kerstkit van Dawn Inskip, de 'Noel Collection'. Denk, dat ik die ook ga gebruiken om mijn blog in kerstsfeer te brengen. Kijk toch eens wat mooi ... Ook heel mooi om nog snel wat kerstkaarten te maken!

I scrapped today with Dawn Inskips new and beautiful Christmas kit, called the 'Noel Collection'. Think I will use that kit to pimp my blog for Christmas. Just look at this, it's gorgeous .... Fantastic for last minute Christmas cards too!

De afgelopen week heel veel mist, een klein wereldje, alles grijs en stil. Ik hou er wel van, maar krijg ook de behoefte om in mijn warme hol te kruipen en er pas in de lente weer uit te komen. Wat je van .... beren leren kan, van slimme beren leren kan .... Al zou ik dan wel zo nu en dan uit mijn holletje komen om wat te eten, dat dan weer wel. Maar verder, geef me een paar goede boeken, wat mooie films en een warm bedje, en ik kan er voorlopig tegen ;-)

Last week we had a lot of fog, a small world, everything was grey and quiet. I kind of love it, but feel the urge to hibernate, get into my warm cosy cave and stay there until Spring arrives. Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities, forget about your worries and your strife .... Although, I would leave my cave every now and than to get some food! But otherwise, give me a few good books, some nice movies and a warm bed, and I couldn't be happier ;-)

Veel komt er dus niet uit mijn handen, ik leef in mijn eigen wereldje, een wereld zonder kranten en nieuws, want daar word ik op het moment erg depressief van. Zo erg zelfs, dat ik mijn frustratie op een groot doek heb gegooid om het allemaal een beetje kwijt te raken .... Nog niet af, maar de songtekst van Queen spookt door mijn hoofd : Is this the world we created, we made it all our own ... is this the world we created, right to the bone ... if there's a God in the sky looking down, what can he think of what we've done, to the world that He created ....

I don't create much, live in my own little world, a world without newspapers because they make me so depressed at the moment. So badly, that I started this big painting to paint away my frustration ... Not finished yet, but I keep hearing the lyrics of a song by Queen : Is this the world we created, we made it all our own ... is this the world we created, right to the bone ... if there's a God in the sky looking down, what can he think of what we've done, to the world that He created ....

Allerlei knipsels uit verschillende kranten, berichten waar ik me boos over maak, dingen die ik gewoon niet begrijp ... Ik ben het in ieder geval kwijt, en voorlopig mag dit doek weer even rusten en kan ik even verzinnen hoe het verder moet ;-)

Different pieces from newspapers, things that make me angry, and things I just cannot understand ..... For now those feelings are on the canvas, and it can rest until I know how to continue ;-)

Om wat vrolijker verder te gaan, mijn favoriete Duitse schilderes heeft weer nieuwe filmpjes geplaatst, waarbij ook een les in het schilderen van klaprozen. Daar heb ik me ook nog even mee vermaakt! Je vindt de videos HIER

Zo, mijn warme bedje roept alweer, mijn boek ligt te wachten, voor vandaag vind ik het wel weer genoeg. Tijd voor een klein stukje winterslaap ;-)

My warm bed is calling, my book is waiting for me, I think it is enough for today. Time to do a little hibernating ;-)

Masterchef ...

Een beetje mosterd na de maaltijd, maar omdat wij vrijdagmiddag vertrokken voor een heerlijk relaxweekend konden we de finale van Masterchef Australië niet zien. Donderdag al gezien dat Kate met 3 punten voor stond, maar hoe liep het af? Daar zijn we vanmiddag achtergekomen. Kate heeft gewonnen en dat gun ik haar van harte. Hahahaha, Michel had natuurlijk ook mogen winnen, ook een geweldige kok en een sympathiek persoon, dus eigenlijk maakte het niet uit ... ;-) Maar goed, ik had mijn zinnen gezet op Kate en mijn aanmoedigingspagina heeft kennelijk geholpen.

It's a bit late, and my overseas visitors might think 'what is she talking about??', but Masterchef Australië ended here today. We were away in the weekend and missed the finale, but as I hoped today I found out that Kate won. Happy for her, although I could accept Michel as a winner too, another great cook and lovable person ;-) But I made a page for Kate, and I guess that helped.

Maar goed, het is dus afgelopen. Mijn dagelijkse portie kookkunst. Ik ben nl. dol op koken ... kan er uren naar kijken! Daarnaast vond ik Masterchef Australië verfrissend lief, leuk en gezellig. Geen hatelijk commentaar, wel opbouwende kritiek, leuke kandidaten zonder haat en nijd, ik heb ervan genoten. Nu krijgen we Masterchef Engeland, eens kijken of dat net zo leuk is.

Anyway, Masterchef Australië is done. My daily cooking. You know, I love cooking ... can watch it for hours! Masterchef Australië was so sweet, fun and happy. No nasty comments, but honest critique, wonderful candidates who played fair, I loved that show. Next is Masterchef UK, looking forward and hoping it will be just as nice.

Horror winter ...

Er zijn mensen die een horror winter voorspellen, ja, zelfs een mini-ijstijd! Ik zou zeggen, laat maar komen dan, maar voorlopig is het veeeel te warm voor de tijd van het jaar ;-) Maar, dat kan zomaar omslaan, dus heb ik vast geoefend in het maken van winter-layouts. Met de mooie nieuwe kit van Dawn Inskip, Frozen, te koop bij Scrapbookgraphics!

Some people are predicting a horror winter, yes, even a miniature ice age! I'd say, bring it on, but for now the temperatures are way too high for this time of year ;-) But, things can change rapidly, and I practiced a bit with making winter-layouts. Using the new kit by Dawn Inskip, called Frozen, as usual available at Scrapbookgraphics!

Wat heb ik verder nog gedaan? O ja, ik ben aan het Facebooken LOL Binnenkort ben ik de trotse eigenaresse van een iPhone, en dus leek het me wel leuk om dan een Facebook account te hebben. Tot de iPhone er is ga ik eens kijken hoe een en ander werkt, zodat ik er helemaal klaar voor ben ;-)

What else? O, I am Facebooking LOL (is that a word?) Soon I will be the proud owner of an iPhone, and I thought it might be fun to have a Facebook account. Until the iPhone arrives I have plenty of time to figure things out ;-)

Komende zaterdag is het Digital Scrapbook Day. En dat betekent heel veel kortingen bij heel veel designers. Ik ga ze niet allemaal noemen, maar natuurlijk wel mijn favoriete designer, Dawn Inskip. Bij haar kan de korting oplopen tot 50%, ook is er een leuke Grabbag, dus de moeite waard om even een kijkje te nemen ;-)

Coming Saturday is Digital Scrapbook Day. That means lots of discounts with lots of designers. I won't mention them all, but of course Dawn Inskip is joining the fun. Discounts for her designs can be as high as 50%, and she has an amazing Grabbag, so absolutely worth your while to pay her a visit ;-)

Proefwerkweek ...

Ja hoor, ik leef nog, we hebben de proefwerkweek van jongste weer overleefd. Ben nu bijna helemaal grijs ... ;-) Het was weer druk, met meer dan genoeg stress, en nu maar weer de resultaten afwachten. Ze kan het wel, maar ja, op tijd beginnen is zooo moeilijk. Eerlijk is eerlijk, ik had daar als puber ook moeite mee. Ahum, eerlijk gezegd nu nog weleens LOL

Yes, I am still alive, and we survived yet another week with schoolexams for our youngest. My hair is almost completely grey n ow ... ;-) It was busy, with plenty stressful moments, now we need to wait for the results. I know she is smart enough to get good grades, but to start learning early enough, that is a bit difficult, it is always kind of last minute. O well, to be honest, I did the same in my teenage years. To be precise, sometimes I still do LOL

Druk weekend in het vooruitzicht, dus ik weet nog niet wanneer ik er weer ben. Jongste heeft zaterdag haar 'Sweet Sixteen' party (wordt tijd, is alweer even geleden dat ze jarig was), en dat wordt een heuse cocktailparty, dus ik moet boodschappen doen en een verantwoorde hoeveelheid alcohol inslaan ;-) Ik wil liever niet dat ze er ziek van worden!

Busy weekend coming up, so I don't know when I will be back. Youngest daughter is having her 'Sweet Sixteen' party Saturday (about time, it has been a while since her birthday), and it will be a cocktailparty. Need to do lots of groceries and buy a responsible amount of alcohol ;-) Don't want them to get sick!

Ben ik weer ....

19 dagen geleden voor het laatst wat geschreven .... De fut is er niet, de inspiratie is er niet ... Bestaat er zoiets als najaarsmoeheid? Of komt het omdat we tevergeefs op een mooie zomer gewacht hebben? Een weekje op een hagelwit strand, palmbomen, lekkere cocktails, dat heb ik nodig!

19 days passed since I wrote something .... Don't have the energy, don't have the inspiration ... Is there something like Autumn fatigue? Or is it all because we have been waiting for those warm summerdays and they didn't come? I would love to spend a week on a white beach, with palmtrees, nice cocktails ... That's what I need!

Maar goed, dat witte strand, dat zit er niet in, dus moet ik proberen te genieten van andere dingen. En die zijn er heus wel, zoals de opening van ons dagactiviteitencentrum afgelopen vrijdag. Een ontzettend leuk feest is het geworden, met alleen maar positieve geluiden. Samen werken met mensen met een beperking is leuk, en belangrijker nog, het kan! Op het moment werken we samen met 6 mensen met autisme ( of een verwante ziekte ), en dat is zeker niet altijd gemakkelijk, maar meestal gewoon leuk en het werk wordt gedaan.

O well, that white beach, won't happen, so I really need to try to enjoy other things. Like the opening last Friday of the activitycentre in our firm. It was a wonderful party, and people were very positive about it. It is possible to work together with disabled people, and it is a lot of fun! We work side by side with 6 people with autism ( or something related ), of course it isn't always easy, but most of the time it is fun and the work gets done.

Ik heb ook nog wat geschilderd afgelopen week, het schilderij is nog niet klaar maar ik moet nu even broeden op hoe ik verder moet ...

I painted last week, the painting is not finished yet, but for now I need to think about how to continue ...

Ik vind de gele cirkels niet geweldig, daar ga ik zeker nog wat aan doen!

Afgelopen zondag heb ik het atelier weer eens opgeruimd ... nou ja, uitgemest is een beter woord. De samenwerking met Inge verloopt nog niet helemaal zoals het zou moeten, en het was een enorme bende geworden. Alles opgeruimd, uitgezocht, schoongemaakt en nu is het zaak het een klein beetje opgeruimd te houden. Valt niet mee voor een kunstenaar ;-) Maar, het fijne van het atelier opruimen is, dat je allerlei materialen vindt waarvan je niet eens wist dat je ze had. En dat levert weer nieuwe inspiratie op!

Last Sunday I cleaned the art studio, it was a huge mess. Sharing the artstudio with Inge is not working the way it should, and the situation got from bad to worse. Now I cleaned everything, re-organised all the supplies, and we need to keep it this way now. And that's hard for an artist ;-) But, there's something wonderful about cleaning an artstudio, you find all these wonderful supplies you didn't even know you had and that provides a lot of inspiration for new art!

Zo, weer bijgekletst, ik ga eens kijken of ik mijn goede humeur kan vinden en in een soort ritme kan komen. Zodat er ook wat meer tijd is om te schilderen ;-) Gelukkig gaan we komend weekend de klok weer verzetten, en voor mij voelt dat altijd een beetje als 'terug naar normaal' LOL

Oke, you're all updated now, I'll see if I can find my good spirit and see if I can get into a good rhythm that leaves me some time to paint more ;-) Luckily we need to adjust the time next weekend, and for me that always feels like 'back to normal' LOL
