You mean I should post on my blog? That darn job(that I love) is really in the way.

I think I may have figured it out enough now to actually be employed and still find time to scrap.

So the new catalogue is coming out. I received my shipping notice and will have my cases on Tuesday. I can hardly wait for you all to see it!!

I am starting a brand new club in September. We are doing a techniques club. Even though some of the girls have stamped before the techniques will be simple yet new to everyone, so if you want to join a club, now is a great time.

We will be learning different watercolouring with different mediums, heat emboss, scratch 'n sniff, rainbow emboss, shattered glass, rock and roll, kissing.........and lots more.

Also, when the new catty comes out, I will be hosting a ribbon share. For $20 you will get 2.5 yards of the 6 different in colour polka dot ribbon. If you'd like a bit of each colour without having to pay $20 for each one, this is a great way to do it.

Fourth Birthday

Back to the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine, for this scraplift. I don't have the treading water punch so I used the SU! scallop punch and the SU 1/8" circle punch.

The base cardstock is Baja Breeze, the print is from ski slope, beautiful, beautiful, the scallop is Pink Pirouette, the font is the Taffy Alpha, and the party hats are from Party Harty. Have you ever bought a stamp set and then later kicked yourself for it??? I had the opposite happen to me for this layout. I wasn't sure about this set but I bought it because it was on sale and I thought, hmmm maybe.......I am so glad I bought it. It work perfectly for what I wanted it for with this layout.

I also should mention, I used white grosgrain ribbon and just slid it across my Pink Pirouette stamp pad a couple of times to make it pink.

So I own one Unity stamp. I won it during Hip Hop on SCS. Until I can get more I have to be happy with my ppphm friends who send me images.

This page is of my Chez who wore my clothes all over the place. She would just walk out of my room wearing another one of my maternity tops.

I used Close to Cocoa for a scrapbase, the dsp is retired but it was Western sky and Apple Cider. The ribbon is So Saffron 7/8" poly twill, and Alpine Ribbon Originals. If you haven't gotten your Alpine ribbon yet, GET.IT. It is so much more than just a Christmas ribbon.

Birthday Queen

Working my way through Waneeke's 4th birthday. I figured they had aged enough now that she is 6.

This layout is a great layout for my scrap to spend budget. One of the categories in it is "Old Embellishments". I am very good at using the new stuff I get right out of the box. After awhile, I forget I own it and it just sits there. I found this old old paper. It's the really cheap stuff you get at Dollarama, 6 sheets for $1, I wouldn't recommend it. I scraplifted this layout from Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. The outside edge in the magazine layout was drawn in but I had this ribbon, and it matched so I wanted to use it instead. The brads are silver and I covered the top with mono-multi liquid and then dipped them in cosmo glitter. I was also able to use images from WRAK. This page gave me $14 to put in my spend category.

Let Him Sleep

I think this is my favourite quote for my sleeping sons. I am hesitant to use it though because it is a quote from Napoleon. It is a good quote non the less.

This entire layout was based on the ribbon. I found the ribbon while vacuuming and decided that I would use it that night. So once I had the ribbon, I found an old package of In Color paper from 07, ohhhhh Marigold Morning is my friend. Ruby Red matches the red in the ribbon.

I don't think this layout is really my style but I scraplifted it from the new edition of Canadian Scrapbooker. I really think it turned out cu-ute.

Power's Out

What do you do when the power goes out? I get my kids to wash the table, and then take pictures.

In this layout I actually used current paper. The base is Night of Navy CS, the dsp is Prestwick. I almost didn't use this paper because I find it difficult to find really great masculine papers and this is a really great masculine pack of paper. I didn't have any night of navy ribbon. I didn't have any green ribbon that matched so I went to my go to ribbon of the cattelogue, the double sided satin ribbon. It has kiwi kiss on one side and very vanilla on the other, it is beautiful up close. I have already used one roll and I'm working on another.

AKA layout #2 for the ppphm challenge. I do not like this picture at all. It wasn't centered and just very disappointing.

Anyway. The first page of my album used the Holiday Harmony paper and the Purely Pom ribbon so I used the same paper and ribbon for the last page. I'm also now, officially out of River Rock paper.

Or my first layout for the ppphm challenge.

It isn't great but really, I was pressured for time since I waited until the 24th to finish my pages and we were leaving on the.......24th. Honestly, some people.

I'm pretty sure I used retired everything in this layout. I am still waiting on my preorder goodies to arrive, so I'm stuck using stash.

The cardstock is cameo coral, I hardly ever use that colour but I wanted a real contrast with the dsp that I was using. The dsp is the almost amethyst print from last year. The ribbon is chocolate chip poly-twill. The poly-twill ribbon is just the best ribbon to work with. I used the scallop stamps from last SAB. I do so love stamps that match punches.

Actually it began. Yesterday the Post Preggo Poochy Hot Mommas Challenge began. The challenge is to do 12 layouts, no copies, from yesterday until January 4th.

I have put the PPPHM on a blog roll of their own. I'll be putting my layouts up on here as I finish them.

Right now, I'm really working at getting my albums done. I have finished getting the spacers ready as much as I can and I'll have to go back to the lss to get the albums put together some more. It would have helped if I hadn't lost W's birthday pictures.

Reindeer Food

While I was link clicking one day I ended up on Angie Kennedy Juda's blog. She is amazing, so I copied her.

Now, yesterday when I was making the food for Koivu's class and I was going to stamp the center. BUT, I was running out of time and, I also had these Christmas erasers. Waneeke was helping me with the reindeer food and after we were done stapling, the top note die to the bag, she thought we should put the erasers in the middle. Love it!

Create A Calendar

This weekend I'm working on making gifts for my kids' teachers.

When I first saw the Create A Calendars in the Holiday Mini, I knew that's what I wanted to make for the teachers. I just wasn't sure how I wanted to make them. Then I saw the amazing, talented, brilliant, Mary Jo Albright's blog. She did a class using the CAC and I copied it.

I like the way it looks so much, I'm going to make one for my desk at the office.

My Bad Habit

A couple of weeks ago, Jess and Denise, from Scrapping Out Loud, emailed me to ask me to be the Guest Designer today. Oh my gosh, I was walking on cloud 9, at which point I started to consider my possibilities. When I found out that the topic was your bad habit I was laughing, mostly because I had just gotten comfortable again to do some SCS surfing.

For my layout I used Thickers that I received as a RAK from Kirsten, ribbon that I came from Deb, the Top Note die cut that is all the rage on SCS right now, an image from the PIF (Pay it Forward) image swap that my PPPHM (Post Preggo Pouchy Hot Mama) friend convinced me to go play with her and an image that I recieved as a welcome to the WRAK, that another PPPHM friend convinced me to join, and flowers from Lela. My picture is what my computer screen looks like most days.

eta: I forgot in my explanation, the sketch is a challenge from Anavon on the goals thread. (Also why I used the snowmen pif images)

Party Favours

I found SU! Regionals to be a big day full of things I have never tried before BUT thing I have wanted to try. I'm more of a visual learner so seeing the projects being done was very helpful to me.

One of the WOWs that was shown was a beaded pen with a matching notebook. I thought these would make great favours for Waneeke's birthday.

I used a R.S.V.P pen, and covered the inner portion with paper(between the blue end and the blue soft part you put your fingers on to write) and then covered the paper with sticky strip and finally poured microbeads over the pen. For the book I used a memo pad from Staples and covered it in the same paper as I used for the pen, then decorated the front. I actually used the Simply Delightful Simply Scrapbooking kit from SAB two years ago. When I went to decorate the front of the book then, I took the die cut stickers from the kit and used those. I also used a sticky cut letter and glittered it.

*sigh* I'm becoming a mom of a 6 year old. In a few days Waneeke will turn six. This is the first year we've had a real party for her, you know, other than having cake at home with the family.

I asked her about inviting friends, so I could make the invitations. She said, "My favourite colour is pink." At least it is this week, so I went with it. I love the way that turned out, oh so cute.

I snuck into her classrooom today to hand them out to the invited kids. I was going to just send the invitations with her BUT when we were picking out the 6 kids she was going to invite, I put a checkmark beside their names on the class list. When I came back to finish getting the invitations ready for her to take, there were checkmarks beside all of the kids' names and she wrote in a few names and checkmarked those also. I was a bit concerned that she would be making extra invitations to send out to kids in her class who didn't get invited.

October explanations and Punch Tins

Sorry I missed all of October.

Have you ever been in a position where you had so many things to do that you didn't know where to start? That was me in October. I had to make swaps for SU! Regionals and do 50 scrapbook pages, make spiders for the kids at school and get ready for Halloween. I made it but I did some serious procrastinating too.

Right now SU is offering some alterable tins. I love altering tins because they just look so much nicer when they are covered with the pretty SU! papers. I have done three of the punch tins this week. The punch tins are $4.75 each and then there are skinny silver tins that are $2.50 each.

This brings me to two confessions. 1. I start my Christmas cards in January so I have a great stockpile by the time I go to address and ship them out. 2. I always save my prettiest papers and ribbons for something that I get to keep.

I need a place to put my Christmas cards through the year and the punch tins are perfect for this. If I leave the cards out, one or more of my children will play with them.

I loooooove the satin ribbon from last year. I don't have a lot of the purely pom left. For Christmas the Holiday Harmony paper was so pretty and went really nicely with the purely pom satin ribbon. For my Christmas card holders, I decided to make them look kind of like Christmas presents. I like the clear window though and didn't want to cover it up. So for this project I got to keep my beautiful ribbon for myself, and alter a tin to make it pretty.

No Mess Jack-o-Lanterns

Last night I went to Scrapping Out Loud to see their challenge for this week. The challenge is to use your felt from your stash. Soooooo I don't have any felt. I even went to look in my old craft bins and nope, nadda, zip, zero, zilch. I decided to substitute the felt for craft foam. And since I'm in panic mode about Halloween coming up again, I thought orange would make perfect pumpkins.

The sketch is from 52 weeks 52 sketches (#23). I used Year After Year for the stamp. The craft foam was from my stash and I just heated it with my heat gun and then stamped into the hot foam. I really like how it turned out. I've always wanted to do that technique but didn't get around to it until now.

Friday Night Scraps

For the first time ever, I hosted a challenge for virtual scrapbooking night(vsbn) on Splitcoaststampers.

There is going to be a rak. At this moment a surprise rak.

All you have to do is the 13th Man Challenge to be entered. And post it on SCS.

Here's the challenge.

Rider Nation is amazing. You take rational, generous, intelligent people, smush them all into Mosaic Stadium and suddenly they are insane......this is the 13th man of Rider Nation.In the Rider Nation, the 13th man is something that other teams try to prepare for. They practice with music blaring. They practice using a silent snap count. They think they know what they are walking into but they couldn't be more wrong. For my challenge I want you to use either the number 13 or 1 cardstock, 2 pp, 1 ribbon, 2 rub ons, 2 fonts, 2 colours of ink,1 stamp(or stamp set), 2 embellishments of choice.

Chocolate with a Friend

Whew. I haven't been here but I have been scrapping. I've finished 39 layouts this month already. That's insane. The Scrapping girls on SCS are gearing up for another fabulous crop. This one is football themed, right up my alley. You should especially go there for next Friday night.

Onto the good stuff.

The challenge on Scrapping Out Loud (love the new look btw) was to do fussy cutting. I have been putting off doing these pictures because I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to do them and I was struggling with the stamp set I wanted to use.

I used Like it a Latte, wintergreen dsp, apple cider dsp, close to cocoa craft ink, ruby red craft ink, whisper white craft ink, clear embossing powder, white embossing powder.

I stamped the steam in whisper white, and then embossed it with white. Before I cut it out of the paper, I cut out little sections of the steam using my craft knife. I'm not so good with the craft knife but I like the idea behind it. Then I stamped a sentiment for a title, in white and embossed it in white. Everything else was embossed using clear embossing powder.

Placing Blame 2

First I would like to say sorry I've been missing in action. We received some news(good) last week that shook my world for a bit. I needed some time to figure out what we were going to do.

Now on to the blame placing. It is Tessa's fault again. I saw the cute little clips on her blog and knew I had to do them for the kid's teachers, and EAs. I also added a little tin because they were just too adorable to not add.

So the clips and the little strawberry on the outside of the tin are scratch 'n sniff. They smelled sooooo yummy while I was making them. I used sugar free jello and glossy glaze embossing powder. This doesn't leave a smooth embossed look to it though.

The only real problem I could find is doing this while you have a two year old in the house. I could not quite get her to understand that they were pretend cherries. She kept telling me how yummy they were. I kept telling her she couldn't eat them because they weren't real. So evidently my two year old thought they were scratch 'n taste. I had to remake a few clips and redo a tin, and then I found this evidence later.

The Scrapping Out Loud challenge of the week was to use fabric. With all the moving and cleaning happening in this house, I just weeded out a whole bunch of my fabric. So I went upstairs and found some of my MILs fabric. I thought if I was using her fabric then I should try and do a page with her kids in it.

This picture was taken at my BILs funeral(not the same bil funeral as the other one, just behind in scrapping.....). I couldn't believe we got everyone in the shot and it didn't turn out too badly. There are a couple of the kids in there so I'm just pretending that they aren't there.

The sketch is from Sisterhood of Scrap the sketch Saturday. I used scallop notes instead of a circle, again. Urban West rub-ons, brads from GinaK.

Also, it looks crooked in the picture but not crooked when I look at it on my desk......can't figure that one out.

Challenge #5 from Deanne's blogoversary is a sketch challenge. Oh how I love sketches. I'm still trying to get Chez's first year all scrapped up. This was a difficult picture for me. My sil took this picture of Chez and I as soon as we walked in the door to wait for her husband's funeral.

I used Spring Break paper, more chipboard letters. I hid my journaling under the orange paper background, you can see it poking out.

Finished another blogoversary challenge! If things go right today, I'll get another one done as well. This challenge was to do the Sisterhood of scrap challenge. Use chocolate chip paper and a pastel colour/s.

I only had two sheets of Chocolate chip left, and I needed two of this layout, so I did use close to cocoa as well, I hope that's ok. I also used bashful blue paper from the prints pack. Found some chipboard letters, covered them in craft bashful blue ink, and chipboard shapes.

I like no buy months because I always find things I have forgotten about. I don't like no buy months because I am now out of chocolate chip, bashful blue, barely banana, sage shadow, and more mustard cs.

See the Beauty

I'm still doing the blogoversary, and the next challenge was to the Song Lyrics "Just the Two of Us." as the title. Now it didn't have to be Just the Two of Us but the title of the page has to be in the song lyrics.

This is a picture of the first pansy I saw in the spring time. It was growing in my garden before we dug the garden up to plant my veggies. I thought it was really pretty and especially in the spring after a long Saskatchewan winter, it was a beautiful sight to see.

I used my prints paper in both close to cocoa and almost amethyst. My retired hodgepodge hardware and SAB rub-ons for decorations.
